Sorry if this seems like a dumb question, but what is the scoop on the purses?

.

Ah the purses. :goodvibes:goodvibes For the Dooney & Bourke bag person, there are DCL exclusive purses for sale onboard. Since there is a limited supply, there will be a line.:love::love: Some of us are trying to find out exactly when the store will open so we can purchase our purses. :rolleyes1:rolleyes1 And still others who are trying to trip us up by sending us to the wrong store or the wrong time.:rotfl::rotfl:

It is a running joke now, so we are planning a dis meet in the purse line....:cool1::cool1::cool1:

What is the "friends & family certificate?" Sounds like something my family will be bugging me about to book for them...

Someone will correct me if I am wrong, but it is a certificate that allows the bearer to get the cruise fare discount even though they didn't sail with you. They are supposed to sail the same week as you - BUT I have read that you book it that way and then they can move the date... Oh - I don't think that they get the OBC with this, just the discount... And I am not sure how long they have to book...

I love this and I really want one but I have too many purses now. I really only use one for Spring, one for Summer, one for Fall and one for Winter. Since I carry tons of stuff, none of them are really big enough for me but....

I have a WDW purse - not a D&B that I got at one of the parks. I love it, but really want a nicer one...

My DH said to me this weekend (when I was reading the thread on the big screen) "Repeat after me, YOU ARE NOT GOING TO BUY A DOONEY AND BURKE PURSE"

Uh, huh.....:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

We need to get the men together so they don't see us shop...

Also, just wanted to put this out there, especially in this economy.....my youngest is getting rid of a LOT of stuff and she just handed me about 10 semi-formal dresses. If anyone is interested, most of them even have tags on them. They are usually from Windsor and were bought on clearance rack. I have about 6 right now that are sherbert colors and range in size from M to just a couple of L. Some are probably a 9 as that size is too big on her. These are modest dresses as I won't let her wear anything too "grown-up". In other words, they aren't Barberella or exotic dancer type.

What size does this equate to? Becca loves to dress up for special ocasions... But she is a tiny thing...

DH isn't aware of DCL Dooney HOWEVER, both girls have said "You Need Another Purse like You Need A Hole In The Head." No your not getting one.

:scratchin Good thing they are not on the cruise huh? :rotfl2:

I may not stand in line but if they have one, I'm getting one. I had to cancel my Med cruise in July so I'm rewarding myself with this if they have them. Else, I'm getting the blue one from DL

Indeed! If they aren't on the ship they can't tell you what you can and can't buy...

...My Mother lovingly pointed out my butt has got bigger mind which I thought was a lovely response!

Aren't mothers special? Mine pulls this kind of stuff when I don't bring the kids to the nursing home to visit...

I don't see the problem with spending large sums of money on a purse; so by all means ladies, buy them all, just make sure to do so before su_kraft boards the ship.

;)

PS, where is the hiding under my desk smillie?

careful pal... No one gets between a woman and her purse... :rotfl2:

How about this one: :duck:
;)

I like this one!

Youre too funny, you will get your butt kicked tonight!

Maybe... Especially if he keeps up this nonsense...

Canton is not THAT far from Decatur! So just because you don't see one in your stateroom doesn't mean one might not show up at your house later... :rolleyes1

Decature isn't that far at all! I am hoping to be carrying off either the Tassle bag or the Medium tote... If Glenn isn't careful it could be both! LOL (not really... I would have a hard time spending that much...)

Hello Sue,
Do you have got the money from me Con5421?

Yep, have you down! Thanks!!

I don't remember any of the produce stands having ice. I think that only the salad bar and the fruit juice bar had fruits on ice. Ours were in baskets set around a large tree and then in rows along the back. I'll look for the postcards from that period of time - they're somewhere in our house.

I worked at the coffee stand with the carafes with the silver bands one summer. They were called hottles. The place was Mannings Coffee. I met my husband, Armando, while working there. Good memories.

You are right, of course. I used to get food from there for lunch with my Grandmother. I am sure we purchased fruit there.

Mannings Coffee, boy does that bring back memories. What a great place to have memories of meeting you DH.

You guys are chatty, chatty!! :lmao: I will have to catch up later, but I wanted to post of my excitement today and I thought of all of you. I took my dad to a little cafe in downtown Lakeland to get some frozen hot chocolate and a woman sits down next me with the big Dooney and Bourke DCL Cruise bag!! I screamed! She was laughing. She is leaving on the Wonder in July, but bought this one on the Med. She said they cannot keep them in stock long enough. There was a huge line to get them. It is beautiful and I was so excited to see one in person. I wanted to rush home and get on the boards!

On the 15th May Med Cruise, they had all the purses out. Even on the last evening, all the sizes were still available, so hopefully you will be able to get one.
There was also some other Dooney and Bourke purses in a different colour/pattern

For some reason, I was under the impression we could book 2 Palo dinners due to the length of the cruise, but it will only let me book one.

I think they're limiting the reservations to one so that more people have an opportunity to book the days/times that they want.

I guarantee that, once on board, they will be begging for people to eat at Palo. (We'll be happy to oblige! :yay: )

I hope that they still have them and can restock... I would hate to fight over a bag with a DIS sister...

I used DCL Air to Barcelona on my last WBTA cruise and the flight wasn't bad. I had a 3hr layover in Atlanta but a straight shot from there.

Thanks for the info! I think we should hear sometime around 75 days before the cruise as to what our flight plan will be. Glad to hear that you didn't have any problems.

Well, there are Cubs games if you want to go to baseball. And I suppose you could go see the White Sox, but that is criminal in my eyes - I am a DIE HARD CUBBIES fan. My father instilled it in me, as his father did to him... Don't forget to splurge and go out for a good Chicago Style Deep Dish Pizza. Quite the experience. Navy Pier is good for walking, very touristy... Walk the magnificent Mile and window shop. If you have time there are museums galore!! Science and Industry really needs at least a day to really do it, but there are others that are open in the evenings that you can do.

If I were to noodle it a while I could come up with tons more - what do you typically like to do / see when you visit somewhere that DCL doesn't go to? :rotfl2:

Thanks! I'm actually staying in Gurnee (right next to Six Flags), so getting anywhere really interesting would probably take too long in the evening. I usually try to add a day or two when I travel someplace new so that I can see whatever historical sights there may be. I didn't have that luxury on this trip (I was in NC last week, home to Orlando for the weekend, then here. I fly back to VA - where I actually work - on Saturday morning). I will definitely make time for the pizza, though!

Aw now that's just fighting dirty. We will be standing in an orderly line waiting patiently for the the doors to open {clue the old Mervyn's commercial:: "OPEN, OPEN, OPEN....."} :lmao:

ok will do sometime this week.

Sue,

forgot to quote on the dresses, but most of these dresses are probably more of a 7-9 JR size. If you have a Windsor's they tend to run a bit small. But April is about 145 and 5'5" but she's small on top. So she can even get into a normal size sm. In these dresses though a small would be = to about a 1-5. So if your Becca is this size, probably too big for her. :guilty: But I'll repost every once in a while. As soon as I remember how to post a picture, I'll post some here. I know I have to go through photobucket but I can't remember that password either. Told you I'm disorganized.

There might be a Gino's East in Gurnee. They make a good pie. The city will be about 90 minutes or so away, so yeah, unless you want a really late night you probably want to stay closer... Let me think on it...

There is one about 7 miles from where my meetings are. Maybe I'll head there tomorrow evening.

My favorite place for Chicago style pizza is actually Giordanos - and there is one of those in Gurnee! 7105 GRAND AVE. That is THE place to go! Be warned, bring a friend or 2, the small pie was too big for Stephen and I... One piece and some salad does me in...

YUMMY!!! You have me wanting pizza now...

Forgot to say that Goofys can't hold a candle to them - but the athmosphere at Goofys is MUCH better...

My Mother lovingly pointed out my butt has got bigger mind which I thought was a lovely response!

Yeah, moms can be like that. My mom used to call me the "Host*ss with the most *$$." Sweet, no? Oh, and another momism: when I had twins (back in prehistoric times), I opted to nurse them; she decided to call me "Dairy Queen." It's funny now, but at the time, not so much. Never one to hide her thoughts, my mom.

Thanks for the info, Steffy. I think my DH would have a coronary if I bought another purse, but....(hmmm, need to think of a good subterfuge).

While pining away for pizza one day when I was going to school in St. Paul, MN, I got the idea that Gino's East on Superior St. was a very necessary thing to do. Hopped in the car, drove for about 7 hours (long time ago, I think that was the time frame) heading to Chicago for pizza.

I never did tell my parents about that one....nor the rector at the seminary....just as well I never continued in that line of study; lying, not a good thing.

But you would fight?!? :rotfl:

:thumbsup2

Working on the diet and excercise...I have 7lbs left..and some flab...to loose so I can fit formal gown no 1 lol! Now....where can I buy a corset like the one Keira wears in Pirates :rotfl2::rotfl::laughing: If I faint...please hide me from public eyes before you cut it open and let it all fall out :lmao:

Lyn

I got a terrific corset for my honeymoon  from starkers.com. They are absolutely gorgeous works of art. I am half considering making a pirate costume around the one I got, and maybe a formal night dress out of mine (over a skirt, with a shawl). It actually doesn't show that much skin - but sucks me in good. I'm a big gal, and I love the hourglass shape it gives me.

I'm also working on losing weight, but man, is it tough. I *should* lose 70 lbs, but would feel absolutely terrific losing 40. It is so hard to get the exercise in that I need, and I always feel starving when I cut back calories. It really isn't easy. However, as I get more towards my 40s I am concerned for my health and want to kick the overweight thing ASAP. Did I mention it wasn't easy?!? I don't have the self-discipline to eat really well all the time (but I am not a pop-drinker, or a junk-food addict, in fact, we eat pretty well, just too much and too often) and my job makes it impossible to always eat stuff from home. I don't have the self-discipline to exercise when I don't want to, which is most of the time :rotfl: I guess I gotta get me some self-discipline, honestly!

I'm with you! Today I was told I was too fat by my doctor to be on one of my pills so have to change to another that one of the side effects (1 in 10 people get) is putting on weight!!!!!!!!!!!! Seriously no one is helping me! I have a feeling that when they weighed me in Jan they got my weight wrong as they seem generally surprised I hadn't noticed a sudden increase in weight but I haven't put on that much! My Mother lovingly pointed out my butt has got bigger mind which I thought was a lovely response!

Oh I am sorry. You have my empathy. That sounds like an awful day.

You rock for nursing twins! I nursed my three kids and sometimes it was wearing.
