Thanks, we will have fun in Disney Paris. Hopefully they have not to much from Chip and Dale.

Don't you like Chip and Dale ??? They are my DHs favourite characters.

Attention all ye pirates (pirate:) that ordered shirts!

Have paid via paypal. Thanks so much for doing all of this, and for offering to bring them over for us. You are a star

Managed to buy a pair of linen trousers and a lovely dress in a sale.....cost me the princely sum of £7!!!! Thats the kind of bargain I like!

So that's more cruise purchases

Fantastic bargains .. I hadn't noticed any sales starting around here yet? As soon as they do I will be in there. What store were you in?

What does it involve?

Basically it a quiz which you will find the answers walking around the ship and also you need to collect some items and photograoh some specific things. There will be prizes. Great to do on a free 5 minutes on a sea day !!

Sue, I will try and make a payment, my cc details were stolen and paypal acc stopped,:headache: watch this space.

I had a horrible day today, beagle girl ran away when we were up the forest, I hung around for an hour then ran home, then dumped beagle boy, grabbed mobile and push bike then started looking for her, I called Len in tears when he came home for lunch and the little witch had taken herself home,
Lucky we live on the edge of the forest with no roads, bloomin beagles, who would have them? thats them on the leads for at least a month!

Oh no ... you poor thing. Those naughty beagles are always getting up to trouble and giving you stress. Pleased you had a happy ending

I had one of my CC details stolen once but fortunately the bank realised and it was stopped before any damage was done. Its always a pain though.

Lyn, Leonard, get Len, Lenny and Les(can someone explain that to me?)
I am the only one that doesnt shorten it.
He does however get substitutes

My hubby Anthony is always known as Tony. Sarah doesn't really get shortened to much.

Wonder what films we will get on board:

Toy story 3?

Anybody hear anything?

I hope to get Toy Story 3 ( but will have seen it by then anyway), Princess and the Frog and Alice in Wonderland.

Sarah,
It took me a bit to find this post (I remembered reading it in my e-mail updates) but I didn't realize you worked for Princess Cruises! I was with them for almost 4 years working shoreside in Los Angeles in the late '90s and through 2001. Still have lots of contacts both over here as well as in Southampton. Those were fun days.....

Michael

They certainly were. I first joined up to the Royal Princess in Los Angeles ... I remember having real culture shock at the size of the freeways when we were driving from the airport to the ship. I was there from 1988 - 1990 and loved every minute, although it was hard work.

Is that where you met Tony

No ..... met him in the hospital where we work now. We did see a British Naval ship in Curacao called the Avenger, and Tony had sailed on it previously.

I just got off the phone with DCL and we are receiving a $224 shipboard credit for the fuel surcharge. I was offered a refund to my credit card or the shipboard credit. I just mentioned the fuel surcharge and the wonderful gentleman on the phone immediately gave me my options without me asking for the refund. It was definitely worth the call.

Well thats hopeful. I hope Dreams can sort something out for us.

I got "It's a Girl!" balloons to welcome Daisy home. The blue star is in memory of her brother, Sidney, who we lost to a tragic accident on Sunday, June 13, 2010. He will always be a twinkle in our eyes and a star shining down upon us.

These two pictures are of Sidney on Christmas Day, 2009.

Here's the new little sister, Daisy, on her first full day at home! She's 12 weeks old already.

IMGP0904.jpg
IMGP0949.jpg

Now how cute is that puppy ..... she looks adorable. Sidney looks lovely too :hug:

Very pleased for you! Unfortunately I just got off the phone with them and they are not - at this time - giving the credit to us.

I told myself that I wasn't going to let this bother me, but....

Yes, I keep telling myself (and Marc!), life is still good.

I don't realise understand how they are giving it to some people and not to others. Doesn't make any sense really.

Is it too late to sing up for secret santa? I have tried to add my information on to the roll call 2 times today and it will not go thru. HELP!!!

Not at all. Check out my post on page one and PM me the details.:thumbsup2

I'll have to take the time to read through the whole thread. Just found my mom in the picture of the entrance to St Micheal's Cave. I am still amazed when I think of that day. My then 77 yr old mom hiked down the ENTIRE Rock of Gibraltar. We had round trip tickets on the cable car and had intended on catching it back down at the half way point. But then I wanted to see some of the siege tunnels. I offered to take the cable car down, but she insisted that I see what I wanted to see. We didn't realize how much more walking was going to be involved, but we ended up hiking all the way down and through town.

This is what we plan to do ... lots and lots of walking. ( though might take the cable car up ) DH used to run up to the top of the Rock when he was stationed there but I can't see him wanting to repeat that now.

More walking = more energy expenditure = more room for food input.

:dance3::banana::yay:

We are April-Free until Sunday evening at 6:30.:banana:

:scratchin My plans for the weekend? :scratchin

TO TIE ONE ON!!!!

We are having a multi-class get together at a friends house and my gang's all going. Can you say P-A-R-T-Y? :dancer:party::jumping1:

Have a great PARTY !!!!

Well my evening gown that I had custom made in China arrived yesterday, even though it is still saying that it is in London. I had a bit of a surprise. I had ordered a blue and pink gown, but when I unpacked it, it was just baby blue. I was a bit disappointed at first until I had it completely out of its packaging. It is pretty much the same gown as in this photo:

Bhc6yDwB2kKGrHqQOKioEry9ucReBLJQi0b.jpg

It has loads of intricate embroidery and the photo really does not do it justice. This is the most beautiful item of clothing I ever owned. I can't wait to try it on later. It definitely does need a tiara. This is a gown fit for a princess if I have ever seen one.

Corinna

This is a stunning dress. Is it heavy ? I am desperately trying to find light weight dresses because of our weight allowance on the way out. You will look like a princess in that dress .... you will probably get kids asking for your autograph.

It is actually surprisingly heavy. I just tried it on and it is utterly gorgeous. I do understand now though why royalty needs people to dress them. I took me the best part of 30 minutes to put it on and lace up the bodice. The good news is that it really does not need a petticoat even though it was suggested in the listing. It is falling beautifully just on its own.

Corinna

There is no escaping Chip and Dale, they are EVERYWHERE! Have fun! :goodvibes

Well done on passing your courses and on the shopping. I really have to stop cruise shopping. I just won a fabulous dress for semi-formal night on Ebay last night. There is just a little flaw with this. This is joining the semi-formal dress that I bought for the Med cruise and 5 other perfect semi-formal dresses that I picked up as absolute bargains. Anybody spot the problem? Yes, we only have one semi-formal night. Still, they are lightweight and not totally over the top so I will probably bring them all and just dress up every other night or so.

Corinna
Why not dress up as often as you like, it's not very often that we get to dress up in our everyday life, so make the most of it!
I hit the multi post button to ask for photo's, but they are further along in the posts, The dress looks spectacular. :thumbsup2

OK, I'm working on the photo thing....

388643107.jpg

Too cute! :goodvibes

I worked first as a bartender, and then as a stateroom stewardess.:rotfl2:

Are we going to have a "Sarah Spectacular" custom made drink of they day?

Attention all ye pirates (pirate:) that ordered shirts!

Sue, have paid via paypal, the only paypal account I have is a Visa a/c, so I have paid with that, It didn't show any charges, If you do incur any please let me know and I will reimburse you. :)

And I thought Orly was the naughty one? Cheeky little rascals!

ps,my job sucks sometimes, lady just came up to see if it was her cat that was run over last night and it was:sad2:

That's horrible, poor lady. I hope there is enough good to outweigh the bad!

Lyn, Leonard, get Len, Lenny and Les(can someone explain that to me?)
I am the only one that doesnt shorten it.:confused3
He does however get substitutes:laughing:
:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:
Nobody really shortens my name Hayley, I sometimes get Hayles from my PIL or Hayley Bayley from my Dad.
DH is Terry, he gets Ter, Tezza and Tony (everyone confuses him with his Dad) but will pretty much answer to anything!

Wonder what films we will get on board:confused3

Toy story 3?

Anybody hear anything?

Would love TS3 and 1 & 2 for that matter, in 3D!

I just mentioned the fuel surcharge and the wonderful gentleman on the phone immediately gave me my options without me asking for the refund. It was definitely worth the call.

Good onya!!! I wish I didn't have to stay up until midnight to ring them, and then pay $30 for the phone call. I don't even know whether we paid it? It was about $230 in fees and taxes for Cat 10 GTY, Did I pay it or not?

Both gorgeous puppies! I'm sure Sidney will be missed, but what a cute little bundle to keep your mum's mind off the loss!:)

Very pleased for you! Unfortunately I just got off the phone with them and they are not - at this time - giving the credit to us.

I told myself that I wasn't going to let this bother me, but....

Yes, I keep telling myself (and Marc!), life is still good.

That really annoys me, What happened to "All for One and One for All". It has to be one of the most unfair systems Disney has in place!

Anyway folks Im off for the weekend so don't post too much! Back Monday! Enjoy your weekends

Have a fabulous weekend Sarah! :dance3:

One of my formal dresses and my semi-formal dress have been worn on the last cruise. I love them and don't get as many opportunities to wear them as I would like so I have no problem recycling them.

Well my evening gown that I had custom made in China arrived yesterday, even though it is still saying that it is in London. I had a bit of a surprise. Corinna

As said above, your dress is amazing! Definitely requires a tiara!
As for recycling dresses, Isn't that what we're supposed to be doing these days.....recycling. I don't think there is anything wrong with that! ;)

Basically it a quiz which you will find the answers walking around the ship and also you need to collect some items and photograoh some specific things. There will be prizes. Great to do on a free 5 minutes on a sea day !!

Sarah, this sounds fun, I think the kids will love it too, I will PM you to sign us up, Thanks! :thumbsup2

YAY, I'm all caught up, whew!:upsidedow

I believe because you need to go through customs you pick it up yourself but hopefully some of our med cruisers may know for sure??

We had disney transport from Barcelona. If you come in, on a flight that day then Disney will pick up your luggage. It needs to be tagged at your departure airport. Disney should have your flight details, from your check in online forms.

Well it is still cool here - make that cold actually!:confused3 I really don't know what has happened to the British summer these days. Ah well roll on September. We went off to Florida in early February for 6 weeks to get a little warm weather but it didn't materialise there either, so I feel a little starved right now.:lmao:

If anyone out there is sweltering in excessive heat, please share with us frozen Brits.

We were in Orlando for 18 days at the begining of January and it was very cold every day. Hope it is better next year.
The photos of your grandaughters is lovely and a very worthy cause to run for, well done to them.

I hope so! Going to Centreparks on Friday with the girls so hoping for a bit of Sun!

Hope you have a lovely weekend Sara.

So cute! x

Anyway folks Im off for the weekend so don't post too much! Back Monday! Enjoy your weekends

Have a good time Sarah :)

Fantastic bargains .. I hadn't noticed any sales starting around here yet? As soon as they do I will be in there. What store were you in?

New Look had a whole load of things on sale plus 20% off all their dresses :)

Please send good thoughts in the wind for my mom....she needs them. Thank you! :)

Well, I have pages and pages of posts to catch up on...

Have a good one.

I am so sorry to hear this. Its so hard when we lose our pets. Good thoughts sent to your mum.

I forgot to say ,this is a heads up for those people who are out and about in Barcelona, prior to the cruise. On our Med cruise this year, 2 different people from the DIS had their wallets/purses pickpocked in Barcelona.

Hello all! I just checked in on another thread and Gizmo (and someone else) answered and invited me over here...

We are doing the Westbound Transatlantic in September. Dh and I and our four daughters ages almost 18, almost 15, 13 and 12. We are homeschoolers and do school pretty much year round so we can do stuff like this at odd times! We've got flights to Barcelona, hotel, and are working on excursion decisions now. I still need to get tickets from Orlando back to home when the cruise is over... so will do that soon....
What else should I have in an intro? lol OH OH, I know, this is our second Disney (or any other kind of) Cruise.

Welcome to the thread 'happy planning for your cruise'.

ANGEL
Oh! also just found out I passed both of my first OU (open university) courses! yay! I know they were only short courses but they were a big thing for me, and the start of my degree :woohoo::woohoo:[/QUOTE]

Well done to you, it would be a big thing for me too.

So if I understand you correctly, you paid $35 Euro for the taxi, then you add admission charge to the Caves etc. Am I missing any other expenses?

In 2007 we did the same thing. We walked ou of the terminal and their were taxi (van) there to do a private tour. We took it to the rock. We saw the cave and went down in the tunnel and oh, yes ther barbery apes. He alos stopped so we could see the ship that sank, Morocco and the Gibraltor Strait as well as spain. Awesome! We plan to do it again. For some reason I think it was around 30 Euros I will check and see if I can find my trip report witht he info in it.

The van held 6

I just checked another site and it was 25 Euros per person which included the admission to St Michaels Cave and the tunnel.

I remembered we paid a flat rate and the driver took care of the entry fee, but this post I just read was from April 2010.

I hope this helps you for Gibraltor

Was the 30 euros each or per taxi?

Admission to the Caves & Tunnels was included. The cost was per person.

I forgot to say ,this is a heads up for those people who are out and about in Barcelona, prior to the cruise. On our Med cruise this year, 2 different people from the DIS had their wallets/purses pickpocked in Barcelona.
Ebony, good advice.

Where and how did it happen?

Woody

When pricing tours in Gibraltar, be sure to check the currency. For example:
  • 30 EUR = 37.12 USD
  • 30 GBP = 44.37 USD
Woody

Woody, did you take tours in Gibraltar or do your own thing? We have 3 full days there.

I spoke with a truly lovely CM this morning at DCL about the FSC and she apologized profusely that we would not be getting a refund/credit as oil closed at $77/barrel yesterday. She was so sweet and kept telling me how much I am going to enjoy our cruise that I kinda forgot for a minute that they were keeping some of my money that I had hoped to use for excursions. I want to work for Disney when I retire. If they can make you forget or even feel ok about losing money then they are doing an awesome job training their employees. :rotfl2:

Okay, we're following you! Just let us know where to meet you each day!!
:yay::rotfl:

Hey, why not? If there are no objections I will be happy to post our plans for each port as we figure them out. We want to hit the highlights of each place and really get a feel for each place in our short time there.

Hi everyone :thumbsup2

As you know Sue, Corinna and myself are hosting a Scavenger Hunt for the cruise. I would like to know exactly how many of you would be interested in participating..... so that I can have a rough idea of how many copies to produce.

Could anyone interested in having a go at the Scavenger Hunt please send me a PM or an email ( SarahTony2002@aol.com) if my PM box gets full.

We would love to join. We could add some little prizes at the end? We have 7 people all together with my Mom's cabin and my niece.

Naughty girl. Our dog is good most of the time but occasionally she nips out and runs around, deaf to our calls, and just out of reach, and I'm sure she's laughing at us.

HEY Terapin,

I think you and several other DISers have really helped to show some of the options open to people how have decided not to book DCL tours.

I certainly plan to do most of the ports on my own to try and keep the cost down a little and certainly like the sound of the tour you've put together here.

Please keep all the ideas coming everyone. It really is very appreciated.

SW

Thanks - will do! I'm a planner. DH and I are making maps of each place with the places we want to see and where the bus catches us and stuff so we are prepared. I'm pretty flexible too but like the have the 'bones' of the planning in place to fall back on. You should have seen our DW touring plans!!!

Is anyone else interested in making up educational packages for kids - a la homeschooling material - for the places on our trip? I'm thinking:

-maps
-history
-culture
-language(s)
-flags

I'd like the trip to be fun, but also really expose the kids to the educational aspects of traveling.

If interested we could sign up for a particular port of call, and bring enough copies to share with the group. I'm feeling that I haven't been able to participate as much as I'd like to in organizing something for the group benefit for this cruise, so I'd like to do this if anyone else is interested.

Good news: I'm off-call for 6 weeks starting right now! All my clients are being covered and I am so looking forward to some down time. We're going camping in the city tonight and tomorrow at a local camping park with our tent trailer. I kept the kids home from school today for a down day - I've been soooooo busy at work. I just want my family around. And, it meant I didn't have to get up early and make lunches!

This is why I doubt the fact that we will be having formal night on a port day, esp. the first one!

Robert is a frightenly good mimic so he does the voices of all the characters - its very creepy...

That was tier 1 pricing for cat 11s - thats what we paid I think or pretty close to it.

We are hoping to do most ports on our own and I think most should be pretty easy - they will be expecting us so plenty of taxis around :rotfl:

I would be beside myself if one of mine did that. I think Hugo got out once (when he was younger he was always keen to go and explore on his own) and I was a mess until we found him. He had gone in the garage and I'd locked the door without realising he was stuck in there. He didn't make a peep until my Dad came around to help look for him and called his name and Hugo barked at him.

Was the 30 euros each or per taxi?
Daft doggie!they drive us nuts.

I'm excited, dropping the poker tables off tomorrow and the kareoke. Someone will make a fool of themselves that night. Sure hope it isn't me. (I would like to state for the record - that I have yet to act like drunken fool in front of my friends)

Plain fool - yes but not drunken fool!!!! :lmao:

So....if I haven't posted by Sunday evening, someone check on me ok? ;)
have fun!
I just sent you the money for our shirts this morning. Just a word of warning though. My Paypal account is funded by my bank account and I use it all the time to make purchases and have never been charged a fee once. I followed your advice to use Personal Transfer and for the first time ever I was charged a fee. It was only 50 cent and therefore no issue, but it did annoy me. So I assume they only charge this when you use the Personal Transfer option and not for purchases.

Now there is an idea ;)

One of my formal dresses and my semi-formal dress have been worn on the last cruise. I love them and don't get as many opportunities to wear them as I would like so I have no problem recycling them.

In Europe (with the exception of the UK) it is not a problem to take kids to a wine tasting or winery tour. I know that I have been to a few with my parents as a child. I don't know how old your son is, but I just checked and the legal drinking age in Portugal is only 16 so even if he is younger than that, considering how tall he is, nobody should have any issue with him being there.

Thanks for letting me know. I think an email to my travel agent is called for.

She is precious and does look like a real princess.
