I still have not received an email from Daniel's Taxi's in Madeira but as Miss Met said in a previous post, they may be booked.

Stay tuned!!!

In Gibraltar, we explored on our own.

Woody

That is what we plan to do. Did you plan each day to the letter? We will probably go on the open top bus, and we still might so the Segway Tour. It does seem quite spread out .

We have booked a tour from Barcelona Day Tours for the 16th from the airport at around 1pm. We booked the driver plus a guide in a minibus. Would anyone like to join us? It reduces the cost for all of us to around 37-50 euros. We liked the idea of the driver staying with the luggage and a tour guide, too.

We aren't doing the flamenco show as we thought it would be too much for the kids to sit through, with a heavy price tag should it not work out. Instead we are going to find some dancers on Las Ramblas and pitch in to the hat a few euros.

Our plan so far:

Day 1: tour bus from the airport to sights (skipping Park Guell) x 4 hours (in the bus if a kid falls asleep due to time change we can just have one of us hang out with them). Check-in at the hotel, then strolling on Las Ramblas until we grab dinner. Dinner on Las Ramblas. Kid factor: very friendly.

Day 2: Breakfast near the hotel. Then down to the Bouqueria (the market- do I have the name wrong?), then to Park Guell for the kids to run around and eat our market food for lunch. Then head down to the Aquarium. Then back to the hotel for rest. Then a late dinner and on to the Montjuic magic fountain. Long day, but the little one can be in the stroller for the Aquarium. I think we might use the HOHO bus for our transport that day, will see)

Day 3: Breakfast then on to the Picasso museum. Back to the hotel to gather up our luggage and head to the ship noonish.

That's the rough plan so far. Trying to keep in mind the kids' fatigue possibility but to see a lot that interests them and us. DH really wants to see the Picasso museum so we are doing it on Saturday where it's our only activity so it won't be sandwiched in.

I just sent you the money for our shirts this morning. Just a word of warning though. My Paypal account is funded by my bank account and I use it all the time to make purchases and have never been charged a fee once. I followed your advice to use Personal Transfer and for the first time ever I was charged a fee. It was only 50 cent and therefore no issue, but it did annoy me. So I assume they only charge this when you use the Personal Transfer option and not for purchases.

In Europe (with the exception of the UK) it is not a problem to take kids to a wine tasting or winery tour. I know that I have been to a few with my parents as a child. I don't know how old your son is, but I just checked and the legal drinking age in Portugal is only 16 so even if he is younger than that, considering how tall he is, nobody should have any issue with him being there.

Well my evening gown that I had custom made in China arrived yesterday, even though it is still saying that it is in London. I had a bit of a surprise. I had ordered a blue and pink gown, but when I unpacked it, it was just baby blue. I was a bit disappointed at first until I had it completely out of its packaging. It is pretty much the same gown as in this photo:

Corinna

I don't even pay a fee when I send payment via Paypal, but when I receive money there is a fee. So I guess with the Personal Transfer, the fee is added on to us instead of the recipient?

Thanks for the info on the drinking age. I don't think anyone would believe me if I tried to say he was not older than 16, so no issue with him being there. Heck, he might even get a taste out of it. Or better yet, they can pour for him, but I get the tastes!!

The dress is stunning. My friend had one custom made in China for the PC cruise. I'm considering it, but want to see if I can lose a few more inches before cruising. Do you know how long they require to make and ship?

Sue, I will try and make a payment, my cc details were stolen and paypal acc stopped,:headache: watch this space.

I had a horrible day today, beagle girl ran away when we were up the forest, I hung around for an hour then ran home, then dumped beagle boy, grabbed mobile and push bike then started looking for her, I called Len in tears when he came home for lunch and the little witch had taken herself home,
Lucky we live on the edge of the forest with no roads, bloomin beagles, who would have them? thats them on the leads for at least a month!

If I can remember correctly was it the boy that ran away last year. If so the girl probably heard of all the great adventures he had and just wanted to see if what he said was true. Guess she was not so impressed because she came back alot faster.

Time to get doggy GPS :) But seriously I would just be beside myself if one of my dogs ran off. Glad she is back.

Sounds like you had a wonderful time at DL. We might be up for the cooking class if you were going to do it on Friday afternoon. Keep us posted.
:surfweb:

Hi Noel,
I've sent an email asking about availabilty for the cooking class Sept 14 - Sept 17. Is Friday the only day you are available? When you say Friday afternoon, would 11 a.m. work for you? They offer two classes per day (11 a.m. and 5 p.m.) and we have the Dis meet at the Hard Rock planned that night so we will not be able to do the 5 p.m. class. I'll keep you posted on availability.

With Sunday being the day lots of us will be booking tours and other things on DCL, we are trying to decide if we will use DCL excursions or other options. We would like to tour the island, ride the cable car and the toboggan. We have a tasting at the Blandy's Madeira at 4:30 so we would want to be dropped there.

John and I are considering using Daniel Madeira Taxis for an excursion. Anyone else interested? As you see, the more persons on the tour, the cheaper the tour. DCL tour is $155 per person for same thing.

Here is website and price info:

Best Flamenco in Barcelona
Enjoy an authentic experience in a wonderful setting

Enjoy a very special evening combining the best of the Spanish cuisine with an authentic and professional Flamenco. The dinner and drinks take place in a special dinning room next to the show stage in a setting called Tablao (the dinner and show are both in the same place).

'Flamenco Tablaos' are small cafe-style places descended from the so called 'singing cafes'. The Flamenco Tablao is the perfect place to appreciate the intimate art form of the Flamenco.

At the Tablao Cordobes, one of the most important Tablao Flamenco places in Spain, you can enjoy an authentic Flamenco show and a dinner buffet. Tablao Cordobes has gained international recognition and is a member of Tourism Barcelona.

There are 3 nightly shows to choose from:

Thanks for posting this info. I have been so good about planning everything else except my excursions. I'm going to research these! :thumbsup2

I just spoke with DCL and was told that is ALL they have been charging so I fired off an email to our travel agent. This is an additional $560.00 exactly so I am pretty PO'd right now.

We already got dinged $200 by DCL her not changing our ressie in time to this cruise so I am pretty ticked off right now. I think I am doing DCL cruises my own from now on.

On our NYE 2007 cruise, we spent over $25K with her and she really didn't do much as I booked on board and transferred to her. She also didn't really do any work or send a nice gift, just a mediocre one.

Sorry to take my frustrations out on you guys, but hey $560 is a a Spa Villa for us!!

Just my thoughts...
:surfweb:

Time for a new TA. You shouldn't have to pay one cent for her errors!!!!

I just got off the phone with DCL and we are receiving a $224 shipboard credit for the fuel surcharge. I was offered a refund to my credit card or the shipboard credit. I just mentioned the fuel surcharge and the wonderful gentleman on the phone immediately gave me my options without me asking for the refund. It was definitely worth the call.

I have been try to get ride of fuel surcharge since they said they were not going to charge it. I did not have to fight with them the said they would adjust the price to the current price, but the price has always being higher then the fuel surcharge price

I spoke with a truly lovely CM this morning at DCL about the FSC and she apologized profusely that we would not be getting a refund/credit as oil closed at $77/barrel yesterday. She was so sweet and kept telling me how much I am going to enjoy our cruise that I kinda forgot for a minute that they were keeping some of my money that I had hoped to use for excursions. I want to work for Disney when I retire. If they can make you forget or even feel ok about losing money then they are doing an awesome job training their employees. :rotfl2:

Congrats to those who have had their fuel surcharge converted to an OBC. I just got off the phone with DCL and was told the charge will remain on my account. I'm not happy at all!!!! With that being said, I think DCL usually does the right thing and I think they will get a lot of calls/emails from those of us who are being punished for making our ressie early. I hoping for some OBC pixie dust pixiedust:!!!!

Friday at 11 Am would work for us. Keep me posted. Still negotiating with the TA.

Hey, why not? If there are no objections I will be happy to post our plans for each port as we figure them out. We want to hit the highlights of each place and really get a feel for each place in our short time there.

That would be great if you posted your plans!! :)

:woohoo: WOOT! I just noticed my ticker has that wonderful "2 months" as part of the countdown clock!! Unbelievable.

I worked first as a bartender, and then as a stateroom stewardess.:rotfl2:

well I do have a couple of specialities ....... including one which is a concoction of kahlua, banana liquour, fresh banana, cream. Delicious!

I'm sure you have awesome stories to share! As for your specialties, I'm there!!

....OK, I'm working on the photo thing....

Yahoo, here it is!

Oh My! How ADORable!!!

Okay I left facebook games tonight and am trying to read most of the information you all have been writing about.....

Your sister should be so proud! :)

...OK Sydney was gorgeous and Im sure he was giving her big licks last night when you were all asleep! She is absolutely lovely! Give her a big cuddle from me!.....Anyway folks Im off for the weekend so don't post too much! Back Monday! Enjoy your weekends

Awe! That's the cutest thing to say! It brings a happy tear to my eye. I will have to pass that thought along to DMom.

I am so sorry to hear this. Its so hard when we lose our pets. Good thoughts sent to your mum.

Kimberley, the little puppy is so cute. am i right in thinking they don't moult?...

You've all been so sweet with welcoming Princess Daisy and expressing your sympathies! Thank you! :grouphug:

You are correct. Bichons do not moult/shed, which is a wonderful benefit. Princess Daisy did leave some little furry pieces on my shirt. They were short pieces, too, so I think it's just underlying puppy fur. It's so fine and silky right now! Overall, her hair is over 2" long at the moment, so she's just a puff of white fluff! She has her first spa appointment scheduled for June 28, so she'll look smaller and loose some of her fluffy look soon, which is kinda sad. They grow up so fast! :rotfl:

The great news is that mom and her husband are both dealing with Sidney's passing much better with her around. I'm very thankful for that.

:dance3::banana::yay:

We are April-Free until Sunday evening at 6:30.:banana:

:scratchin My plans for the weekend? :scratchin

TO TIE ONE ON!!!!

....So....if I haven't posted by Sunday evening, someone check on me ok? ;)

Oh my gosh! What a fun weekend you have in store! I'll be making sure we hear from you one way or another! ENJOY!!!!

.....Well my evening gown that I had custom made in China arrived yesterday....I was a bit disappointed at first until I had it completely out of its packaging...It has loads of intricate embroidery and the photo really does not do it justice. This is the most beautiful item of clothing I ever owned....It definitely does need a tiara. This is a gown fit for a princess if I have ever seen one.

Oh Corinna. <insert vision of jaw dropped> Stunning. Just utterly gorgeous! I agree that some of the little princesses on the ship will be coming to you for a big princess autograph. Oh I cannot wait to see just how beautiful you will look in this amazing ballgown. Congrats on your special treat!

....Good news: I'm off-call for 6 weeks starting right now! All my clients are being covered and I am so looking forward to some down time. We're going camping in the city tonight and tomorrow at a local camping park with our tent trailer...

Enjoy your time to relax and be with the family!

Kimberly, hope she settles in well, Ruby did NOT get cuddles and treats, I was pretty fuming with her:rolleyes1...

...YES!! he ran away for 2 days before he brought himself home!!!!
Thing is I bet she peed herself after she lost the deer and couldnt find me, now him, he just doesnt give a rats backside.

:rotfl2: I just love your expressions! I'm glad today was a better day with all in the family together!

I got "It's a Girl!" balloons to welcome Daisy home. The blue star is in memory of her brother, Sidney, who we lost to a tragic accident on Sunday, June 13, 2010. He will always be a twinkle in our eyes and a star shining down upon us.
