We have been traveling since the EBTA, and have been in London for one week. This is our last full day, as we fly home tomorrow.

Woody

For those of you in the UK, I just ordered myself a credit card from the Post Office ... doesn't charge for foreign transactions worldwide, so I thought it might be useful if I exceed my limit on my Santander Zero card. Very easy to apply for one on line too.:thumbsup2

Does anyone have any ideas about the best place to get your currency. We usually order in advance from Travelex and pick up at the airport .... but there may be better options out there ?????

We still have a Nationwide card that used to be free. Really must change. We did apply for a Santander one early this year, but they were so slow sending the pin number that we went on holiday before it came even though we gave them plenty of time.

We usually get some online and sent home, though we wouldn't do the pay months before just to get a good rate though. Other than that we get from M&S or the PO, or wherever is cheapest on the day. John looks on Martin moneysavingexpert to find the best daily rate.

Hi Woody. Have a good last day and flight home. Are you ready to go home now?

Hi Woody. Have a good last day and flight home. Are you ready to go home now?
Thanks Marilyn.

No, not ready to go home. Wish we could just stay until the WBTA.

Woody

Post #2 has been updated with revisions to the Inbound Barcelona Flight Schedule and Barcelona Accommodations List. Note we have some new potentials for meeting at departing airports! :)

Thanks for all your hard work with this.

I have the day off today and DH is at home, too. We will be heading out shortly to sort out his gym membership. Up till now we we were members in different gyms, but his contract is now up and he is joining my gym, which has better facilities.

Afterwards we are going to have some lunch in town. They just opened a new barbecue place in our shopping mall which is really good. So I will introduce DH to this. Then we will go and watch a movie. Should be a fun day.

Wow, you must be having a good time. We started off looking at doing both the EB and WBTA's and using one return air fare, but it would have meant it would look like we were in the US for too long and overstaying our visa waiver. Are there restrictions like that for you coming the other way?

Can't wait to here all about it and what you thought of Europe / London etc. have a safe journey home tomorrow. Not long until the WBTA.

I usually check this website out too. I still have a Nationwide card which I use in Europe where there are no charges. But I use the Santander card for
any US $$$$ transactions.

We did not encounter any restrictions. Booked return (roundtrip) flights LHR-LAX-LHR.

I guess you are still well within the 90 days which we have for the US. So, not sure of over here. I presume anyway because you are visiting different countries that each has their own regulations.

Glee! I love Glee and loved the review of the show - thanks for sharing :thumbsup2
A couple of Glee questions - is the actress who plays Rachel`s mother really Rachels mother? They look so alike. And can all those actors sing? There aren`t any dubbed voices are there? DD got me onto Glee when it first started - she`d read reviews and insisted I watch it. I`m pleased she did.

Speaking of DD she has got her degree, a 2:1. We are so happy!! DD was supposed to sit her finals last year and deferred them, so after a bit of a stressful year we are thrilled she`s accomplished what she wants.

Castaway Cay - I`m up for that, I do alot of walking though there has to be some incentive, a nice drinky or a bit of grub usually does it ;)

Very confused on the west coast.....Sue, I thought you were heading to Canada?????? How did you end up in FL?? Was it someone else?

We were spending time with Glenn baby brother who is from Calgary - maybe I confused you?!?

Sorry, I have been offline for a couple weeks and spent all day catching up on posts. :surfweb: I noticed the Formal Nights have continued to be a topic of discussion. I noticed the new list from concierge showed formal nights on day 3 and 8, semi on 13, theme on 7 and pirate on 9. On May 22, 2010, I posted the results of my call to Disney Reservations (Cindy) of formal nights on day 2 and 7, semi 13, theme on 8 and pirate on 11. :confused3

I have once again gone to Autumn, and asked for a sanity check... Don't THEY know WE have to plan , purchase and pack???

Nice to see you post Woody! I am looking forward to hearing about your trip! Hope that both you and Mrs Woody are well.

Off to work for a bit. not sure for how long as my eyes are still puffy today and hard to keep open...

The other day I received a very sad message from Heather ( GOS ) one of our DIS cruisers, with some tragic news. This is the message I received:

"Sarah - it is with great sadness that I have to write and tell you that we will not be joining you all in in September. My husband passed away suddenly on Tuesday after a operation on his heart. I would be so greateful if you could you pass on this message to the people making all the arrangements for the activities on board.
Thank you - Heather "

I am sure Heather would have wanted all her DIS friends to know what has happened. Although we personally had never had the pleasure to sail with Rick and Heather, I know many of you did, and we were really looking forward to meeting them on the WBTA, especially after reading about many of their adventures on other trip reports. This sad and tragic news has come as a total shock, I guess you never think that something so terrible is going to happen to a fellow cruiser. Our hearts go out to poor Heather and her family
:hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug:

My heart goes out to Heather and her family in this difficult time; such sad news.

Hope this helps

THANK YOU for providing this information so quickly! I really appreciate it; hopefully it will help us decide which excursions to do. Is anyone else doing more than one excursion at a port? I saw that some people do one excursion and then do some touring on their own. Does anyone know if it is easy to walk from the port to do some touring in Gibraltar or Madeira ?

Since we are arriving in Barcelona the day of the cruise (arrive 7:55 a.m.), we are hoping to do the hop-on hop-off bus tour. Does anyone know how long of a walk it is from Terminal C to the Columbus statue? Or how long the bus tour is?

Sorry I always seem to have so many questions! I really appreciate the knowledge everyone shares!!:cheer2:

Hershey's isn't good chocolate:sick:, sorry my US friends. Other than that I agree, and used to eat cooking chocolate in my younger days to get my fix!!:lmao:

I agree. I can't eat Hershey's anymore. Too much better chocolate out there in the world.

Alex

I know .... it's really frustrating isn't it. You would think they would know what they are doing by now :confused3:confused3

I wouldn't mind them changing it nearer the time but its the inconsistancy and the fact there are exactly 2 different dates! Very odd

Thanks for doing this!:thumbsup2

Sorry, I have been offline for a couple weeks and spent all day catching up on posts. :surfweb: I noticed the Formal Nights have continued to be a topic of discussion. I noticed the new list from concierge showed formal nights on day 3 and 8, semi on 13, theme on 7 and pirate on 9. On May 22, 2010, I posted the results of my call to Disney Reservations (Cindy) of formal nights on day 2 and 7, semi 13, theme on 8 and pirate on 11. :confused3

So I called today to make a dinner rotation request (LAPLAP…) and also asked to confirm the dates of formal nights which I had been given in May. And guess what? I spoke to Carlos and he advised : the formal 3, 8, semi 13(at least that doesn’t change), theme on 7 and pirate on 9. WHAT !!!!! :scared1: I asked if there had been a change from the dates I was given in May and Carlos said he had no way of knowing, but these were what is scheduled as of today. :)

I asked to speak to a manager :chat: and was connected to Melissa. I explained to Melissa that I was given other dates back in May (just a couple weeks ago) and asked if the computer noted a change from prior dates and she also said there is no way to tell, other than what it is showing today. Melissa apologized for the confusion and then pointed out that “they” could change it again (and again) as we are still three months away from departure. To make things worse, Melissa pointed out that even the ports of call could change too.

I asked who the “They” :rolleyes1 were and she said multiple departments work together to set the formal, semi, theme and pirate nights. She advised that changes in entertainment , ports, port times, and other issues all effect the special nights.

So as of today, that is the story. ;) This of course does not explain why mdwoodman (6-5-10 post) got an email from Disney with the old dates I was given in May. :confused3 What I get from this is “things can change”. I too, will make my plans with the best info I have at the time and make changes later, if needed. :woohoo:

:rotfl2:Now I'm even more confused!:confused3:rotfl2:

Very cool! I'm looking forward to when I need glasses and can buy a really cool pair. I helped Mum get some new frames a few weeks ago and there were some really neat ones. None with mouse ears though ;)

Mum's already panicking about how much money she will need for the UK (she is visiting family there first) just for a few days. Yikes!

I hate getting them if Im honest which is why I always go for the same pair (until these). I've been wearing glasses since I was 8 so its a pain for me.

As for money in the UK, are you staying in London? If so bring double what you need. London is expensive compared to most of the UK

Funny Now, probably not then! :lmao:
Holly ripped apart 16 rolls of toilet paper last week, YES 16. Not one of them was able to be saved! The kids playroom and Bella's bedroom looked like there had been a snow storm, It was everywhere!

Uurghhh, Tax time, we saw our accountant yesterday, but it was all good news. Just a huge pile of paperwork for me now! YUK!!!:scared1:

Guess What else -
100 day for us today!!!
they are such naughty noodles!!
samvisitssiliconblue.jpg

Samantha visits SiliconBlue, screwdriver in hand, bonding with Dad to change brakelight....mission accomplished. :)
nice pic... I love when woman are familiar with screw drivers.
Too funny!!! Oh, and me thinks you are slightly tipsy Lynne!!!:lmao:
It was funny, really you had to laugh,he was SO dirty.
Hershey's isn't good chocolate:sick:, sorry my US friends. Other than that I agree, and used to eat cooking chocolate in my younger days to get my fix!!:lmao:

I forgot about the time of year, for you, that you would be buying a formal dress. I just wish I was a lot younger to be able to enjoy all the lovely fashion out right now.

As far as bathing suits to suit your shape goes, I need everything put together in one suit. You know, petite, fuller figure, top heavy, fat around the midrift, tummy control......get the picture? :scared1: Probably better you don't!!:rotfl2:

Our £/Euro rate is getting better than it was so I hope things continue in that direction as Euro country vacations have been getting very expensive over recent years because of this.

I would love a holiday in NZ. There is so much to see. We had friends round last night who went a few years ago and want to go back.
hershey is yuk.
Cooking chocolate ....ewwwww :sick::sick:

I actually ate dog chocolate once ... my Mum had bought the dog a dog chocolate easter egg, and I was so desperate for chocolate I pinched a piece. I didn't know it was dog chocolate at the time though.

I actually like Hersheys .... love the cookies and cream bar.
dog chocolate,if I am desperate i would it it also.

I ordered mine last month and put the cruise on it! Youll get stuff in the post you have to take in to a Post Office at some point mind to certify your identity! It is cool though.

I always go with Travelex as I find they give a good rate compared to other places
