Pardon my ignorance, but What is a 2:1. Congrats on completeing her degree

As for Castaway...that is a great incentive to walk even faster if they are at the finish line.:thumbsup2

Basically with any degree in the UK they mark them as :

1 - highest you get
2.1 - second highest
2.2 - third highest
3

etc

1st is pretty much walking on water! 2.1 is fantastic! 2.2 is a good degree.

Thank you for clearing that up. It must be like our Cum Laude, Magnum Cud Laude and Suma Cum Laude then. What is the degree in? Is their a speciality? I have an undergraduate and then a graduate degree that specializes my field. Does that make sense?

I love learning about other cultures, so bear with me please.:worship:

Ours are weird compared to a lot of countries. I did my degree over here in the UK but spent 1 year of it in the US (North Carolina) so had like 2 different experiences (they use things like GPA's which I still think are strange).

What we have is an undergraduate degree which will be based on a specialism so for example I did a Bachelor of Science in Biology. Now in some places you can do a combined degree like Biology & Chemistry. I know in the states they can do a Major and Minor to their degree which we don't really do over here. You can get Bachelor of Arts or Science.

Once you have your undergrad then you may decide to do a Postgrad. Postgrads can either be Masters of something or they can be PHD's it depends on how they do it. I have a Masters of Science in Environmental Biology for example. With these they are just specialist to one area usually unless you do a PHD which is like a research degree. You can have a Masters of Arts of Science as above. PHD's I belive are just that and don't have distinctions between the different aspects.

So basically I can write my name: Miss Sarah Rhiannon Adams BSc, MSc if I wanted to which I don't.

Oh and just to add to the confussion, Bachelor of Science don't just cover Science and Arts vice versa. I originally applied for a Bachelor of Arts in Biology at a different Uni but didn't get in so I have no idea how they decide which way to put the degree. Its very odd!

No problem at all other than I had a look and couldn't see it. What was the name of it? Was it just St Martin Quad? The only one I found was the mountain bike one and this was for ages 12 and up

I don't see it offered anymore. :confused3
Could you tell me when the St. Maarten Island and Butterfly Farm Tour runs?

Thanks GismoSarah

WOW, Thanks Sarah, I do think I get it a little better now. Iget the possible differance between and Arts or Science designation. We have that here. It has to do with the type of course cirriculum. The more sceince courses or arts/humanities courses denotes the type of degree. At least here.

Where in North Carolina were you?

My youngest niece has a Phd in Chemistry and was fortunate to study in Limrick Ireland for a year. My other niece (the one coming on the cruise) has a DPT (Doctorate of Physical Therapy) and they are not considered the same type of Doctorate. Go figure.

OK all I got confirmation from DCL re the new dates as well so at least all sources seem to be singing from the same hymn sheet now!

I was at NCState in Raliegh for the year. It was the first year in about 50 they had snow too so we had a week of National Emergency while I was there!

You can also get vocation-based degrees .... for example I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology, and a Bachelor of Midwifery degree.

Are they sure? You should see the list I wrote out. There are that many 'formal' nights down, crossed out, added again, crossed out, and now about to be changed back again!

I really thought we had settled on the one with Days 2 and 7 being Formal!! Ah well. We wait and see what happens.:rotfl2: The only thing certain is semi-formal night!!;)

Wowza! I'm off for 13 hours, and I have 5 pages to catch up on!

I thought I tagged someone's comment from Monday about bathing suits, but apparently I didn't. So to whomever it concerns, I personally love "It Figures!" brand here in the states. They focus on various shapes/challenges women have and develop styles that are more flattering for your body type. I know QVC/QVC.com in the US sells them, so I checked the .com for QVC UK, however, it looks like there were only a couple. From that brand, I have 2 skirtinis, 1 shortini, and last week my newest one arrived, which is a swimdress. Like you (whomever the poster inquiring was), I LOVE skirtinis, so I wasn't sure about a swimdress. I love it though! Most of the fabric designs are modern, too. So I recommend seeing if you can find the brand "It Figures!".

Did you get my PM with our flight information?

Sorry. I did not receive it, Melodie. I know what your schedule is, however! Regardless, can you please resend?

We have been traveling since the EBTA, and have been in London for one week. This is our last full day, as we fly home tomorrow.

Woody

What a wonderful time you must have had! I'm anxious to hear more about it! Wishing you safe travels home!

....Off to work for a bit. not sure for how long as my eyes are still puffy today and hard to keep open...

Even though you didn't get your Mouse fix, I'm sure it was nice to get together to celebrate their 50th Anniversary with family! The sunburns you and DS have sound painful. I hope you can both get comfortable soon! Dab on lots of vinegar or soak in a vinegar bath to get some relief from the burn!

:thumbsup2

ROFL I would if I could but I can so I won't. Anyone know when we find our flight info when we book with disney for air.?....

:rotfl: Well, when it does come, let me know! I hope more of you learn soon. I was sure that since Sparky received their details that more of you would have as well by now. I would hate not having that knowledge, so I hope the wait is soon over!

:cool1::cool1:
Just did a count: 86 days until we leave Canada to begin our vacation. That means 42 more scheduled working days :banana:

Let the fun begin!

Jon

YEAH!!!! :yay: I started the DDD today (double-digit dance). We'll ALL be doing the DDD in the coming days!! :woohoo:

Well, let me "submit" this post and see how many pages I have to catch up on since I started typing this!

Hello everyone - this formal night thing is a mess. I am going with the Formal Night Day 2 because of what my Travel Agent told me. She is great and I trust what she says. It sounds better too because if we have formal on Gibralter we leave during early dinner and you late diners will be in the show. It just seems odd. Oh well, it will be a mystery for another how many days - 100 and something!

I like Hershey chocolate with peanuts and love M & M's. Has anyone tried the coconut M & M's. It is the best!

I loved what you wrote about the Swiss Chalet - I wish we had one. It sounded wonderful. Is it a chain like Boston Market?

Somebody wrote that they get into Barcleona Saturday morning at 7:55 - where are you leaving from? I am trying to figure out our flights.

I am too confused about my DD day. I originally set up my countdown to embarkation day, which would make DD day Friday. However DH in his wisdom ( well thats one word for it ) wants to finish our countdown on the day we fly to Barcelona as thats the official start of our holiday. So that would make our DD day tomorrow !!!!!

That was me talking about skirtinis etc and not being able to get the nice US ones over here. I haven't managed to find one yet, or swimdress, but will do some serious looking in a few weeks. I usually have to try plenty of swimsuits on just to find one, so I'm not expecting things to be easy.

Glee! I love Glee and loved the review of the show - thanks for sharing :thumbsup2
A couple of Glee questions - is the actress who plays Rachel`s mother really Rachels mother? They look so alike. And can all those actors sing? There aren`t any dubbed voices are there? DD got me onto Glee when it first started - she`d read reviews and insisted I watch it. I`m pleased she did.

As far as voices being dubbed, I don't believe they are. At the concert, everything was sung live with a band and they were AMAZING!

Idina and Lea's voices are very similar and they are both great! I had the chance to see Idina twice in Wicked...she is Elphaba to me!

No they are not related---but you're right they do look very much alike! I've said that about Lea Michele (who plays Rachel) forever! Both actresses are broadway stars----Lea originated the female lead role in "Spring Awakening" and Idina Menzel (who plays her mother and director of "Vocal Adrenaline") is a Tony Award Winning Broadway actress----she originated the role of Maureen in "Rent" (the lesbian character who sings the cow song) and played the character in the film version of the show and she was also the original Elphaba in "Wicked" (which she won the Tony for) and originated the role in the London production, as well. She's also married to Taye Diggs (who is also an original "Rent" cast member and who is from Rochester, NY!)

I didn't know Taye Diggs was from Rochester! I saw him in "Chicago" years ago as Billy Flynn. I love Rent because of Idina...I just love Broadway!

So I find out what I need to get my driver's license's name change! It's funny because one of the things I need isn't even listed online! :lmao: Thankfully I called because now the process will go a lot faster. :thumbsup2

I can't believe it's only 100 days until we leave and 102 days until the cruise! I said on FB that I'm going to start the Xanex drip for the flight now! LOL!!!

Speaking of DD she has got her degree, a 2:1. We are so happy!! DD was supposed to sit her finals last year and deferred them, so after a bit of a stressful year we are thrilled she`s accomplished what she wants.

Castaway Cay - I`m up for that, I do alot of walking though there has to be some incentive, a nice drinky or a bit of grub usually does it ;)

The actress who plays her mother is Edina Menzel. She sung on Broadway as the "Green Witch" in Wicked. She is also married to Taye Diggs. They were in Rent together, and he is on Private Practice (ABC-US). Yes, she has an incredible voice.
