I love speaking with people from different cultures and will always make an effort to understand them and try and learn a few words. I am ashamed really that the English speaking nations almost expect everyone else to speak English.

Where are you from in Holland? I have visited there once when I was younger as my Grandfather is buried there in a war grave. I remember it being a beautiful country with lots of windmills and amazing scenery. We did a canal trip in Amsterdam and it was lovely.

I'm living in Gemert that's a place near Eindhoven for football lovers PSV Eindhoven. It's about one and half our from Amsterdam my favorite place in my country and my favorit footballteam AJAX. Gemert is a small town but nice.

Amsterdam is a great place for Eric and Jason to visit some time, they have ones a year the gayparade that's lot off fun.

We stayed at the Sofitel Cocagne Eindhoven. Is that anywhere near where you live?

Hi. I posted recently about getting my flight assignments through DCL. Here's my story. Back in March, I send an "air deviation" request to DCL because I wanted to make sure that me & my husband were on the same flights with my brother & sis-in-law. When the response came back, it was going to cost us $350 EACH to assure that we fly together. I called DCL Air Deviation and had a 30 min conversation with a VERY helpful representative. Since I had her ear, I asked all kinds of questions and she answered as she could. Bottom line, we decided not to "deviate" our original ressie and take the chance that we would all fly together (she had said 'they couldn't guaranty flights would be together but since we were a small party chances were we would fly together'). She told me that since we weren't going forward with the air deviation, we wouldn't find out our flights until sometime mid to late July. Much to my surprise -- and excitement -- I got home from work on Tuesday to find a phonemail message from the same woman saying our air had been booked and they were sending me an email with the flight information. I think that she was just a very thoughtful representative who must have seen notes in our record about our prior calls/questions. If you want the phone number for the deviation department (and her name) PM me and I'll be happy to share it with you. We are flying out on the red eye on 9/17 from JFK -- 5:45 p.m. direct to Barcelona --arriving at 7:55 a.m.:cheer2:

Congrats!

We have also made all our ADR's, Our look a little different to yours, lol, we have kids! Therefore we have CRT, T-Rex, 50's Primetime, Boma, Les Chefs de France, Yak and Yeti, Crystal Palace, Spirit of Aloha, Cape Mays, Teppan Edo and Ohana's. We have never been to the Wave, Artists Point, Narcoossee's or Jiko, are they kid friendly? Why did you choose them? Always looking for new food recommendations, after all, It is my favourite activity! :rotfl:

We have decided to splurge on the deluxe dining plan this time round, but three meals a day is too much. This is why I have concentrated mainly on Signature restaurants for dinner as they take two credits. The only restaurants that we have previously eaten at are Jiko, which we both loved, and Chef Mickey's, but for dinner. At Jiko last year, there were some older kids. On our last visit we found that most restaurants were simply too noisy for us (strange enough the character meals at Crystal Palace and Chef Mickey's were among the quietest). We are hoping that this will be less of an issue at the Signature Restaurants. Jiko was most certainly quiet.

I look forward to meeting you. While I was stationed in Germany, we went to "Niederlande" (Netherlands) Sprechen Sie deutsch (Do you speak German)? Zo niet, wij zullen ons best doen om te leren uw taal. Wij willen graag te leren over uw cultuur ook (If not, we will do our best to learn your language. We would like to learn about your culture also). My ex-sister in law is danish as well so I think we may feel at home with you guys.

Goede nacht en zoete dromen (Good night and sweet dreams)

I speak german (duits) a little bit but understand it good.
Habe sie ein guten tag ( heeft u een goede dag), Do you have a nice (great) day.

The translateprogram is putting the words not in the write place, but i understand it.

Dank u voor de lieve woorden (Thank you for the kind words):dance3:[/QUOTE]

I am originally from Germany. I can read quite a bit of Dutch, but I cannot understand spoken Dutch at all.

Throwing another idea out to the group....

Is there any interest in accumulating info about flights going into BCN? I was considering a list referencing your departure date and city, airline, and arrival time. That might be TMI for some to share, which is perfectly fine. I just thought it would help facilitate early DIS meets on the planes or at baggage claim as well as ground transportation coordination.

Thoughts????

Oh thank you, Marilyn!!! I'll bookmark that this time!

Is that an offer Kimberley? :rotfl2:

Would you like the info by PM and what info do you need?

Corinna

Let's do it then!

It's list time again! :goodvibes

If you would like to be included in the Inbound Barcelona List to help facilitate early DIS meets at flight pre-board, on the planes, at the baggage claim, as well as ground transportation coordination, please PM me the following information:

  • DIS Name(s)
  • Real Name(s)
  • Departure Date
  • Departure Time
  • Hub's Departure Airport/City
  • Airline
  • Arrival Time

Thanks!

I did something fun to got to try out one of the semi convertible Smart Carsl Even in the wind and rain, it was fun to drive. The shifting was a bit strange and I think my golf cart is bigger. :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

HEY ALL

It just so happens i just purchased myself a Smart Car just 2 weeks ago! I LOVE it. It's so super easy to drive and so much fun. iIve loved them since i first saw them as they're like nothing else on the road.

My friends all think it's hillarious that i choose to buy a smart car.

As i'm 6'3 tall.

But i can honestly say it's the only car i've ever really wanted.

I still need to name it tho?? I obviously wanted to give a Disney name but it's cream in colour and there's not too many cream Disney characters.

any suggestions PLEASE!!!!

Last night i went to see a local theatre production of Disneys Beauty and the Beast

I love the show and saw the London production 9 times in the west end and the proffesional touring production 2 more times.

I have to say i had a great time.

Its my favourite stage show of all time. How i wish it would return to the west end again. I know there is currently a touring production in the US and if it happens to come your way GO GO GO!!!!

I can't remember who posted about all of who were going to celebrate anything while on the cruise to get together some day for lunch. Stephanie (Steffy) and I would be interested.

If you are looking for cream colored, how about " The Lady". Lady is buff or cream colored as in Lady in the Tramp. She is one my favorite Disney characters!!

(on the subject of dinning companions)

My friend and i spend most of our time together just laughing (A LOT) and having fun, we dread being placed on some dowdy table with people not willing to join in and laugh with us.

We spend quite a bit if our time having the most random conversations, usally while queuing in the super market or theme park. Its always pretty obvious that the people around us are listening in and quite often chuckling along with us.

We tend to find the humour in most sittuations, i guess i just feel that there's plenty of stuff in life to make you sad or blue ,so you should try to laugh as often as you can.

So here's hope for fun table mates for all!!!

You have expressed exactly how I feel about what cruising should be about.

I have the "talking" gene as well that I have passed to all my 3 children. The first time I made contact with my German relatives was when they called me from Germany and we talked for over an hour!!

Some of the most memorable times I have had on a cruise is just sitting around chatting with new friends I have made on the cruise.

Just my thoughts...

Kimberly - I LOVE lists too!! I have made 4 separate ones for this trip already. You should see the list I am going to leave my husband. It isn't a to-do list, but a funny and necessary list.

LittleDisneyLovers - You picked GREAT restaurants - some of my faves. You will have a blast.

Somebody mentioned before that we should PM so the list could be made if you want people to come to your cabin to sign a page for their scrapbook or whatever. I forgot who I am supposed to PM. I have a scrapbook page and the magazines to share!

With this whole doctor thing weighing over me, I have been mentally out-of-it so I apologize. Thank you to everyone for your kind words.

Also, Todd, just curious - is this Helen's first cruise! That always makes it more fun - honeymoon and first cruise!! :yay::yay:

Sneaky guy, eh? SO I take it you recommend it? I would love to hear the pros and cons. We are looking in to the 16GB. Not internest in the 3G though. Hoping to be able to use it for books ect. What are your thoughts?

If the iPad can do what you want to do with it, go for it. I am a big believer it "not every item is for everyone."

I am having a great time with it so far, I got to spend 4 hrs today showing our demos off to customers, in front of lots of Apple excutives . I was able to show a severely visually disabled gentlemen that an iPad had features and settings that would allow for him to read a book again for the first time in two years. He was so excited. :cool1:.

Our first customer didn't even want to touch one, he had been sent in by his wife :lovestruc to "GET ONE TODAY", lol. He had been in LA most of this week and they said 3-4 weeks :scared1:. He had his Credit Card out as he walked in the store, :rotfl2:.

Just wanted to share some good news ... my DS got accepted at college yesterday to study Media Production. He will start in September ( if he gets 5 high grade GCSE passes ). It is both my kids' dream to work in the movie industry and they would both love to work for Disney ..... nothing to do with being indoctrinated from birth I can assure you :rotfl:

Awesome! It must be great when years of hard work results in great outcomes.
