DH John and I, together with our good friend Nancy reconnected last night with a dear friend we hadn't seen in years. We lost touch with him when he was working in London and now he is back. We had dinner at a wonderful place in San Francisco called Coco500 on Brannon Street. http://coco500.com/

I live a few blocks from there. I actually walked by there around 7:30 last night. I also love the green beans.

Paula---I think your pic and new haircut look great, too....I'm sure that's how I'll feel just as we're leaving for our trip this fall when I chop all my hair off, too!! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

.....and congrats on riasing $$ for a great cause. Jason and I are currently doing fundraising for our local AIDS Walk and hoping to have a great showing, too!!

I've updated the lists and was wondering - do we know if all of the people on the lists are still on the cruise??? If you see the name of a person who had to cancel the cruise and I still have them on the list please please please let me know so I can remove them. Thanks! :goodvibes

Here's the updated list:

If you looked in the window, ou must have seen us and not known it was us. Across from us was a mom and her daughter. We were sitting in the window table that is the last one before going to the hall. Small world is it not?

My DH loved his steak though we were so busy chatting, he did not take pictures of our main dishes!!

We will have to chat about San Francisco sometime.

We will put a shuttle launch delay on our list of wants!! :thumbsup2

I was hoping the shuttle that just launched would have been delayed until at least the 20th, but it was not.

Paula your hair looks great and good job on the fund raising.

For anyone if you are cutting at least 8 inches of hair off you can donate it to Pantene Beautiful Lengths they make wigs for cancer patients. There is also Locks of Love they require the hair be longer. I have cut and donated my hair more then once.

We also had hail yesterday but not as bad as in some places.

I hope you are all doing well.

Calm pets has dropped - thats the ony one i know for certain.

So we had an interesting evening tonight. Around 5:15ish, a thunderstorm started to roll into Allentown, PA. I was at my parent's house at the time and I was just playing around on the computer. Next thing I knew, we had a severe thunderstorm warning...did I mention my parent's are puppy-sitting two dogs and one dog HATES thunderstorms. The storm starts and it's gettng pretty bad...next thing I know, I heard hail...1-3" inch hail. I run to the front of the house and look out the window at our cars parked in the driveway and the hail was bouncing off the cars like mad! :scared1:

So it continues to hail...next thing I know my sister tells us that there is a tornado warning! There is no basement at my parent's house so my sister says that we are going into the bathroom because there are no windows in there. So, my sister gathers our purses, we put the dogs on their leashes and take the computer into the bathroom. We were in there for a good 15 minutes until the storm had passed. Although we didn't have a tornado, a funnel cloud was reported in a town next to Allentown.

We don't get funnel clouds or tornado warnings very often, so when they happen it is scary. When the storm was over, the skies cleared and the sun came out. Thankfully there was no damage done to the cars... but it was an interesting early evening!

Ooohh, exciting!!! I love storms, as long as no one gets hurt!;)

Our stateroom host dressed our monkeys for us! (We were in the Roy Suite so we got one for each bedroom.)

That is so cute!!!

Hi all, as some of you know, I (and my colleagues) have been fundraising for Canteen and Child Cancer Foundation. Thanks to those here who donated to our cause :lovestruc

We raised nearly $5000 over the last 8 or so weeks and last night we had our heads shaved.

Paula, you actually suit it, there is no way I could pull off that hair cut, I have had surgery and have big chunks of skull bone missing, so I would look a bit like a horror movie! Yours looks fantastic! You've got some good karma banked for a rainy day! :thumbsup2

I have to say we have never had any problems with kids on our Disney cruises and we have done 4 of them so far. We have late dinner seating and spend a lot of time by the adult pool, in the spa and in the gym and often we do not see any kids for hours on end. The only cruise where kids became a bit of an issue was the 5 night part of the back to back cruise on the Norwegian Jade last year. There were less than 100 kids on that cruise, but they were a menace. Unlike on a Disney cruise, there was nothing to do for them for large parts of the day so they went around the ship to cause trouble.

We've never been on a cruise, but from my experience at hotels, It tends to be the older kids who are allowed to run wild with no parents, and nothing better to do that cause trouble. Maybe a Disney cruise is the best cruise to take if you want to avoid kids, at least they are occupied with lots of stuff to do! :confused3

I think I have my packing list pretty much sorted out as well. I will take one t-shirt for every port and pants or shorts to go with them. On sea days I will wear sun dresses. They are lighter and I noticed on this cruise that I prefer wearing dresses when I am on the ship all day. I took three pairs of shoes (a pair of Crocs, my running shoes and nice shoes for the evening) on our last cruise and that worked really well. I will take a light jacket and one Fleece for the colder days. That should then leave enough room for my formal and semi-formal dresses, swimsuits and Fish Extender gifts.

Corinna

Corinna, I am taking notes for the packing list, I have to admit, having never cruised before and also wanting to keep luggage weight to a minimum I have no idea where to start! :confused3 Your list looks like a great place to start! :goodvibes

We went from GTY status to an actual stateroom today!!!!!

YAY!!! Just checked ours, still GTY! :headache:

I prefer being forward, but wherever they will put us, I will be happy as long as it is not higher than a category 11.

Corinna

Why no higher than 11? Bathroom layout?

Those batter fried greens look sensational! Never had anything like it. Will have to put battter fried greens in San Francisco on my bucket list! It's getting pretty long! :rotfl:

There is a thread about needing toilet paper in the cities in Europe. While I know that is kind of gross, it is an important thing to have with you at all times. So you may want to add a small travel roll or wet wipes to your packing list.

Now back to your regular programming...

We will go up to Topsiders for dinner a couple of nights, and perhaps one night eat junk food on deck!!!!

We may hit Topsiders for dinner on this cruise too, we've always gone to the main dining rooms but might go upstairs on the formal nights as none of our clothing can be considered formal by any stretch of the imagination :rotfl2:

I have a question for anyone who has rented a car from Port Canavarel before....Is there a site that is nearest the port?

I use Mousesavers as a guide - they list the various rental agencies that are near the port and what types of pickups they have. We are going with Hertz by the look of it this time.

Then i discovered this forum, and realised that inbetween Candy Swaps, Fish Extender deleveries, Wine Tastings, Board games and general Chit chat with all you guys i'll be lucky to have enough time to read "The Cat In The Hat!" :rotfl:

I have a couple of NZ based children's books that I will probably leave in the book swap (luggage space/weight permitting) that you are welcome to browse once you've finished the Cat in the Hat. Seriously, that made me laugh out loud...

I hope we don't have the same magazines that way we can swap!! I told my MIL I need a longer FE so I can put magazines in there to share with other people. Goofy Granny is an excellent seamstress!

I'll probably bring some New Zealand mags too - most likely NZ Woman's Day - we got magazine subs from work for Christmas and while I could have got something to improve my mind and career, I decided to enhance my bimbo status with some suitable trash :rotfl: As the book exchange is at my cabin - I'll leave them there when done :)

Evening all. Sorry haven't really had time to catch up as you've all been very chatty. My Grandmother unexpetantly passed away on Sunday night

So sorry to hear of your loss :sad2::sad1:

I guess you haven't visited Toronto in February. One of the worst aspects of my job is being called out of a snuggly, warm bed and out into a freezing, windy cold night, when it is so cold the car whines being started up, and the snow is crispy it is so frigid. Cold enough that wet hair freezes in the 15 steps from the front door to the car. Toronto in February is really, really cold. And damp. And windy.

Good grief, that sounds like my idea of hell. We get frosts and the very occasional snow flurry every few years - brrr.

I bring the Oral Contraceptive pill and vitamins. So if anyone wants to avoid getting pregnant, I'm your gal....That means you Eric and Jason! :rotfl:

LOL, maybe bring some folic acid for those that don't take you up on the first option :rotfl2:

My Australian sense of humour isn't alway translated well in writing. :grouphug:

I find Australian's offensive before they even say anything ;) JK - sounds like we should hang out together, I thought it was hilarious!

....well cancellation, actually. I heard back from KellyJeanDVC today and she has had to cancel the cruise, unfortunately, so I removed her from the lanyard list.

I've removed her from the Candy swap too. Thanks for the update and for all the work your are doing on the lanyards.

On the WBPC cruise we had people who just signed up for the FE right in the early days of the thread, then never made another post, or replied to any PM's or emails to see if they were still going. They were removed from the list, and then when they WERE onboard and didn't get any gifts in their FE's they were very cross and kept leaving comments on peoples dry wipe boards or in their FE"S!!!!!:confused3

Seriously, I think we should have a group consensus that if people don't respond to their emails/PMs, they will be scratched off the various groups. It takes far too long to chase people up.

My thoughts too!

Our room was changed once after we boarded (trouble with the bathroom) and we put a note on the door of our old room as well as letting the official room number keepers know.

We have been upgraded and changed on every cruise we have been on. We missed on a lot of FE gifts on the EBPC, we tried leaving a note on the door of the old cabin but it kept getting removed :confused3

I should have also mentioned that apart from my DD8 and DD9, I have a 41 year old that has trouble containing his excitement sometimes, he can also be a little unruly at times, especially after too much sugar (from the bourbon and coke), that 41 year old is my husband. :lmao:

I have great difficulty controlling DH and my Mum - I just disown them. Their behaviour makes some of the uncontrollable kids look like little angels.

Who is it who is on the London Heathrow to Barcelona flight on Tuesday 14th September at 3.25pm? I know there is someone, but I have forgotten. We must say hi!!!

I'm on BA484 which is at 9.20am from Heathrow on the same day - but I'll have already flown from NZ so not sure what state I will be in for conversation ;)

I really know what you mean. I did an excel spreadsheet of all the "hidden" costs of sightseeing, gifts, tips, etc. and was that a shocker!!

I've just done something similar for "stuff we haven't paid for yet" - its getting well up there now and I haven't added in a few items I'd omitted yet

I've let Erik know about the lanyards, but I'm also signed up for the candy swap and the fish extenders. So please take me off those lists.

Have an amazing cruise everyone! I can't wait to hear all about it!!!!

Good luck with the restaurant and thanks for letting us know. Sorry you aren't cruising with us.

You look fabulous!! DH and I just love the pic of you and you sweet fur baby. I think what you did deserves a commendation!!

Thanks - she really is my baby :lovestruc

Paula---I think your pic and new haircut look great, too....I'm sure that's how I'll feel just as we're leaving for our trip this fall when I chop all my hair off, too!! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Two of my colleagues have had cancer, one with stomach cancer and the other with non-hodgkinson lymphoma. I also lost my aunt nearly two years ago from Pancreatic Cancer. My other aunt is fighting breast cancer and Robert's dad is currently fighting prostate cancer. Its a nasty disease.

There is an organisation here that does the wigs too but the hair needs to be 30cm long and mine was only about 10cm long - I still had the longest hair in the group mind you. :)

We don't have the travel rolls up here, so I put it on my Buffalo shopping list, lol. Heading to Buffalo, in early June to do all my pre-shopping for this cruise.

My daughter and I were having a conversation tonight at dinner and she wanted me to ask all of you from Great Britain - when you go to Epcot, do you eat in Great Britain or do you avoid it because that is where you live? I said you probably go and she said you probably avoid it. We are just trying to have a fun little debate between the two of us. THANKS!:goodvibes

I know for us, we have only had dinner once at the Canadian pavilion. \

We may hit Topsiders for dinner on this cruise too, we've always gone to the main dining rooms but might go upstairs on the formal nights as none of our clothing can be considered formal by any stretch of the imagination :rotfl2:
We may join you! We can fit the clothes in our bags on the way over, but that's less shopping room I have in USA! So I may just bring one dress?

I'll probably bring some New Zealand mags too - most likely NZ Woman's Day - we got magazine subs from work for Christmas and while I could have got something to improve my mind and career, I decided to enhance my bimbo status with some suitable trash :rotfl: As the book exchange is at my cabin - I'll leave them there when done :)
I'll have the Aussie ones! Probably Marie Claire, Madison and Shop till you drop

LOL, maybe bring some folic acid for those that don't take you up on the first option :rotfl2:
:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

I find Australian's offensive before they even say anything ;) JK - sounds like we should hang out together, I thought it was hilarious!
Remember, I'm actually a kiwi by birth, Our sense of humour is def different from the rest of the world sometimes!:lmao:

Seriously, I think we should have a group consensus that if people don't respond to their emails/PMs, they will be scratched off the various groups. It takes far too long to chase people up.
I agree, it is unfair to the people doing all that work!

We have been upgraded and changed on every cruise we have been on. We missed on a lot of FE gifts on the EBPC, we tried leaving a note on the door of the old cabin but it kept getting removed :confused3
Lucky you, upgraded every cruise, we have our fingers crossed! That does suck about the FE gifts though, Hopefully we'll be more organised this time?

I have great difficulty controlling DH and my Mum - I just disown them. Their behaviour makes some of the uncontrollable kids look like little angels.
I frequently disown my DH!

I'm on BA484 which is at 9.20am from Heathrow on the same day - but I'll have already flown from NZ so not sure what state I will be in for conversation ;)
It's a loooooong flight isn't it? Imagine doing it with 2 kids, argghhhhhhh! :scared1:

Thanks - she really is my baby :lovestruc
I miss my fur baby more than my kids when we go away! I am not joking, but don't tell my kids! :rotfl:

That is so cute! There is no Australia, so we don't have that issue! The Great Britian food is probably the closest to ours, and while we didn't eat there last time, I would ;)

Sorry to jam up the thread (just helping out on getting to number 5!!!).
My girls wanted to send a photo to Becca so she know's what they look like, as they have seen her pirate outfit photo.
So, for Becca, This is Lucy and Bella.

That place looks wonderful! Our son, Mike, who was on the 2007 EBTA and the 2008 WBPC cruises, has just started a 3 month internship in Palo Alto. He is looking forward to exploring San Franscisco. Today he went to the Disney Family Museum. He's so funny, he is sharing an apartment and so far they each have an airbed, a folding camping chair and a card table. Only guys would live that way! :lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:
After paying rent in the Bay Area, they are lucky to have ANY furniture at all:rotfl:

Uhmmm, yea, that was an issue in some places in Spain (and Italy too). We jsut always made sure to have a couple of kleenex (facial tissue) with us in a pocket.:rolleyes1

Thank you all for your kinds Congrats on my acceptance to nursing school. I really hadn't expected my application to be competitive this round since I am still finishing up the last of my prerequisite classes. I was shocked and thrilled when I got the notice. I hadn't expected to get in until next spring.

I will miss meeting all of you in person though, especially now that I know so many of you are nurses!:)

And Noel ... yes, I do believe we cruised the mexican riviera together in 2005. That was our first DCL cruise and we have been hooked ever since! I can't wait to have a ship of our own when the Wonder comes permanently to the West Coast. We are already booked on the Thanksgiving 2011 cruise!

So sad, I just realized I need to change my signature and take this cruise off pirate:

I agree with you about the rent. DD and her two roommates pay $1900 a month for a 2 bedroom, 1 bath townhouse.

I was pretty sure we were both on our first cruises during that time. I agree about having a California cruise ship!!!
