I am travelling on business this week in Tampa, Florida, and staying at the Westin where my company has a negotiated block of rooms. I stay here enough that I have gold status at the Westin hotels. But tonight, I had the most bizarre experience that I have ever experienced.

...

But it's still creepy to feel violated by having someone pack up your stuff and stick it somewhere without your knowledge.

All in all, I was not amused!! Luckily the hotel sets out a Wii each evening for guests to use, so I got my frustrations out on the Wii before dinner and felt somewhat calmer.

That would freak me out.

I am travelling on business this week in Tampa, Florida, and staying at the Westin where my company has a negotiated block of rooms. I stay here enough that I have gold status at the Westin hotels. But tonight, I had the most bizarre experience that I have ever experienced.

I arrived back at my hotel shortly after 5pm this evening. I walked into my room, and noticed that my cell phone charger was no longer plugged in at the desk where I left it this morning. In fact, the entire desk was cleared off of my notes, and extra bottles of water I had staged for the week. Then I turned around, and realized that my eyeglasses and eyeglass case were also gone. A check of the bathroom revealed that all of my toiletries, brushes, alarm clock, contact lens solution and case, and crossword puzzle book were also missing. Only my clothes and suitcase stored in the closet remained in my room but the rest of my stuff was completely cleared out!

So I called down to the front desk asking about my stuff, and they had to go investigate what had happened. They finally found my toiletry bag, with most of my things stuffed inside. However, my travel alarm clock, open bottle of saline solution (that was sitting on the counter,) one cap to my contact lens case, and my pen were all missing and have not been located. I assume they were thrown away, and the alarm clock was either stolen by the housekeeper packing the stuff (though she reports never seeing it), or by someone who had access to where my bag was taken after being removed from my room.

The hotel manager apologized several times, and said they are investigating the matter. They have no idea why the housekeeper thought I'd checked out, when all of the systems, and all of the evidence, appeared to clearly indicate the room was occupied. They fact that my key still worked indicated that they didn't check me out at all so none of the story makes sense.

The hotel went out and bought me a new contact lens kit, and have offered to replace the alarm clock for me, so I should be "whole" after they make amends. But it's still creepy to feel violated by having someone pack up your stuff and stick it somewhere without your knowledge.

I cannot even imagine how freaky that would have made me feel.

We arrive at 0855 (Delta).

We decided on U232 because it's rated #10 in Barcelona (out of over 500 hotels) and we got it for 103 USD!!! :cool1:
DH and I both have a reservation at the U232 Hotel too. We are planning on arriving in Barcelona on the 17th. Just keeping an eye on airfares right now. We have friends who's on this cruise too and she e-mailed us about this hotel and we checked it out and decided to go with it. We are still in the planning stages on a lot of things.

I'll have to get her to post. She might just be lurking around the DISboards. I finally got her to check the boards out a week or so ago. She's been a friend of mine since '85-'86. Her DD will be traveling with her. My DH and I got her addicted to Disney cruises awhile back. This will be the first time we've gotten a chance to cruise with them. Actually I think our last Disney cruise was in 2005, so its going to be fun checking out if there are any changes and such.

You'll be very surprised of all the changes.
We were last on in 2007, and I know there are some little changes.

Dont forget to check out our page 1 so see/and sign up for all the fun on this cruise. We also have a ton of info on it too.

I would be totally freaked out! I'd have every conspiracy theory going through my head by now! Apparently I'm a paranoid person.....according to DH :rolleyes1:rolleyes1:rolleyes1

I waited to join this cruise meet thread until we were PIF which happened today. We signed up for this cruise way back on opening day Oct. 2008, but didn't want to jinx anything by writing about it too soon. On this cruise it will be myself, DH, DD-13, DD-9. We are beyond excited to take this trip. My DH and I have travelled before, but we have never done anything like this as a family. See you in Barcelona!

Well that is just really odd and very unsettling. Wouldn't you have thought she would actually check if you had checked out?:confused3

Called DCL to make a payment and the price had dropped $280 so I went ahead and paid it off!!!! I am soooo happy. Now I can move on to the other things on my to-do-list!!!!

PIF with a cherry!

the cherry part was a surprise to me.
I wanted to pay off the cruise several weeks ago, DH kept saying no... not yet.
I found out yesterday that we have been on a waitlist for the Maridian(sp) Hotel for the day befor the cruise. We were notified we got a room!
A cruise was the sundae. the whipped cream was doing the TA, and now an extra in Barcelona is the cherry on top!:banana::banana:

Great plans .... must start working on ours. Which hotel are you staying at?

On a another note, please dont laugh,, what kind of pillows do they have on the magic?
I was away for the weekend and forgot how much I hate feather pillows, also is brent going to be our cruise director?

I don't think the pillows were feather pillows .... I had my best ever nights' sleep on the Disney Magic. Beds and pillows were very comfortable. I hate feather pillows too .... and we had them in Manchester.

Corinna is back from her cruise .....

WELCOME HOME CORINNA

Looking forward to all the details :woohoo::woohoo:

Four and a half more months. YAY!!!:cool1::cool1:

I think they have foam pillows, because I'm allergic to down and I didn't sneeze. I remember telling them that and the pillow was nice.:goodvibes

thanks kay

Good Morning,
We are also PIF, for those of you on the B2B check the dcl website. Some of the categories went down in price. We got a substantial price adjustment for our cat6 stateroom.:yay::dance3:

Does anyone know why we don't arrive at Castaway Cay until 11:45? That's 2 hours later than on a regular Eastern Caribbean trip; the Eastern I looked at left St. Thomas at 3:45 (same time as we leave Tortola) and arrived at CC at 9:45. Just curious if anyone knows. THANKS!

That is very odd... Sorry that you had that happen to you!

If you ever travel to Atlanta let us know!

Okay. Our flights go like this...Leave Dallas 9/15 at noon on American to Mexico City. Six hours in Mexico City, then on to Madrid on Iberia. Another 2 hours in Madrid before we leave for Barcelona where we arrive at 5pm 9/16. All for someone whose longest flight has been 4 1/2 hours! :scared1:

That, thanks to a very helpful AA agent, is the best route on points in business class. Here's hoping we and our luggage make it to Barcelona together!

Our TA hooked us up with transfers from the airport to the hotel and passes for the hop on/off bus tour in Barcelona for the 17th. No other real plans. Guess it's time to plan something!

Hi,
I would like to sign myself and my DH up for some of the tastings.
We are interested in the wine, martini, cognac, and if you should be doing a champagne tasting. Altough I didn't see a champagne tasting listed that would be fun we would all be walking around with bubbly headaches.
Thanks
Michelle (cinderbear)

I added you to my list for wine and cognac.

Someone asked for a photo, so I had DH take one... It isn't real easy to see Beccas costume, and it was itching her legs so she kept her pants on... Must go and find tights for her to wear onboard so she doesn't get too itchy - otherwise she will refuse to wear it... (Any suggestions on how to soften the heck out of a costume?)

pirategirls.jpg

Those costumes look great!!:thumbsup2

Not sure about softening the costumes. I was going to suggest fabric conditioner, but it looks like a net lining, so I think that will always scratch a bit. Leggings look good with the costume though, but perhaps black ones.
