I believe this is being done at the Parrot Cay Lunch on the last sea day

It certainly is :thumbsup2

Just popping in with a quick hi. Been back for about 4 hours from having my op. All has gone well. Been sleeping mostly. Have pain from the op and the gas they pump in, but this will go one way or another!!!;)

I look like they have drained the life blood from my face!!!

Hope you're all having a nice weekend.

So pleased to hear this is all done and dusted for you now. Hope the pain settles down quickly ... keep up with your pain killers regularly and try sipping peppermint water for the "wind" pains. Take care :hug:

Have to take a moment and interrupt with a kid brag!

Stephens team is the sole remaining undefeated team in his baseball league! The final is on Tuesday night (6 om if anyone wants to make the journey to just north of Atlanta and watch the game...) and hopefully they will win that and walt away with the big trophy!

He had a rough day, flew out twice and got hit in the hands once, and instead of getting a base, the ump called it a strike. To the umps defense, he turned after getting hit and that *might* have appeared to be a swing, but one wold think that a kid holding his hand and wincing would have told a different story... Quite different from going 4 for 4 last week and then 3 for 4 in the second game of the double header...

No matter, the team is doing well and it is a great way to finish uop the school year!

Brag over, please return to your normal cruise reading!

Sue

:woohoo::woohoo: Great news .... hope they win the trophy ... keep us informed

I saw the different posts for Formal and Semi-formal nights :confused3 and decided to call Disney Cruise Line myself. I just got off the phone with Candy at DCL reservations and she advised that formal nights are night 2 (Sept 19) and 7 (Sept 24). Semi-formal will be night 13 (Sept 30) and Pirate night is night 11 (Sept 28). She said there is a theme night on night 8 (Sept 25) for Villains. She told me that there is a Villains Ball in the Atrium Lobby that night, then she put me on hold and said she talked to a manager who said the information is not clear as to Villains attire at dinner and that info would be updated next week. Candy did not have a reason why there would be conflicting information on Formal nights, as it is no secret and all agents have access to the information in their computer. :surfweb: The above information matches what the little birdie said. I hope this helps. :) If anyone else is still wondering, I would suggest you call for yourself, as this doesn't seem to be a secret. ;)

Hopefully this is correct ... I was getting very confused. I really want to book Palo for rotational menu Lumieres night and obviously I cannot predict when this will be .... I will likely have to change reservation once on board.

 I once again apologize for being absent for so long. Please forgive me!

I chatted with Hoagie Pie earlier today, and realized that I *really* need to get back to you guys! Amy's been an encouragement, too! :grouphug: So I haven't even begun to catch up, but I will do the best I can!

First thing is first. The Pre-Cruise Accommodations List....Has anyone taken that over, or should I update it with the changes that have been given to me? If no one has taken that over, then certainly PM me if you want included or have updates. If you want to see what it currently looks like, click here.

For those I don't keep up with on Facebook, I've missed you, and look forward to reconnecting and seeing you in 17 weeks!!!

Kimberly :hug::hug::hug: Welcome back ..... it's great to see you :thumbsup2 Hope all goes well.

Feels like it's been months since I've been on here...

Well, since booking Nov 2008 (yes I have the fuel supplement), I finally got all the flights, hotel, etc. finalized and PIF on Friday so we're good to go. We can't wait! Rosalynn keeps asking when we're going to go on the "Mickey Boat?"

Hi and welcome back to you too ...... thats a lovely photo :goodvibes

Thanks all for the lovely greetings.:grouphug: I had a good night's sleep which surprised me - perhaps the last of the anaesthetic wearing off!!! Bit sore this morning, but really it is amazing how far this op has come. Hoagie Pie, wish you lived closer too!!!!!!!

Ive been thinking aabout you, glad thats it all done, I am sure John will spoil you tonight, take care, sleep well and you will be brand new tom, lynne:flower3:

Lynne, thanks. I had a good chuckle about the brand new tom as I read it as a brand new TUM!!!! I so wish.:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

I added the Land and Sea excursion on Tortolla. It looks like it will suit us fine. PJ, do you want to join us? It is 8:15 am departure and last 4.5 hours.

Angie, that is the one we did last September. The island is beautiful and you just about get all over and stop at quite a few view points. The tour guides are all lovely and friendly, and they make up a very nice fruit or alcoholic fruit punch onboard the catamaran too!!;)

Never feel guilty about a kiddie brag.

Lol, seriously, you need a degree to work out the rotations and stuff, I can never work it out. I am miffed not 2 semi formals.

lovely pic Alex, nice to have you back.
Cute!!! Yay that all is paid! I still have 2 flights to book and I need to get some Euros from somewhere. We "bank" at a credit union so I will call them Monday and see what they can do for me. Otherwise, do you have to have an account at a bank for them to get Euros for you?

So glad you are checking back in! :surfweb:
We always order ours an line and get free delivery.
Angie good point, Euros have to be done, hmmm CAA/AAA, perhaps.

Are travelers cheques in Euros a good or bad idea for Barcelona and Madeira? seasoned travelers spread your knowledge, please and thank you, :)

Pj
I never use travellers chqs.
I know that there has been a lot of talk on excursions, so someone tell me if I am doing silly/supid stuff as I don't want to hear my son say "Wow mom, EPIC FAIL"... :: sigh :: 13 is a challenging age...

Barcelona - 2 day HOH bus and maybe the aquarium on Saturday - we aren't sure about that day yet. All depends on how tired we are...

Gibraltar - doing a taxi tour instead of City Under Siege as we want to be able to take our time.

Madeira - Looking at a private tour here as well. Possible a jeep tour as Becca can do it privately but not through DCL (min age with DCL is 8 or 12...)

St. Maarten - Glenn and Stephen want to go to Maho Beach. Looking at that in conjunction with Stephen and I doing the Tiki Snorkeling. Does anyone know if you can come and go on this? It is a set your own length tour... If we can come and go, then we will snorkel, hit MAHO to see KLM or other big jets come in and then Stephen and I may snorkel more. Glenn might take Becca to the Butterfly farm. If we can't come and go, then I will do butterfly Farm with Becca (She was there at 15 months old) and Glenn and Stephen will hit Maho.

Tortolla... Well, I haven't looked at these yet - that is tomorrows task. But if we don't snorkel at St Maarten, then I want to take Stephen snorkeling there. Any advice is welcome!

Also - does anyone know if jewelry is really a good deal on St maarten or not? I have been looking for a birthstone ring with 2 stones (both March - Aquamarine). I can't find a stocked that I like. last time we wer in St Maarten we looked all over to no avail, and on a whim went into a little jewelry store right at the end of the dock area. The clerk/jeweler said thathtey could custom make one for me. Price looked good. Too bad he needed the day and we were an hour until we left port... I have looked on and off since then - no joy. I even looked all over St. Thomas and nothing... Honestly I haven't priced out a custom ring in Atlanta, but I think it would be more than the $125-150ish that I was quoted...

Ok, off to bed...
Sue, re maho beach, just remember the big jets dont come in till afternoon, We are definatly going too.
We broke the kiddie pool out today. The water was still really cold, though. 87 degrees but the wind was horrible. Great day to grill out! YEAH for summer!!!!
It was total toast in scotland yesterday.

Bet you will sleep well all week, your body is an amazing thing.

Fingers crossed for Becky.

And mmmmmmm for the Lime Mascarpone torte! Must remember that one next time I do a Tex Mex cook!

It was very good!:cool1:

Sending hugs your way! Hope that Becky does well!
Sue

Thanks to you both...

Good Day everyone :)

I can't believe that its only 17 weeks away.

For those of you who are "dieting", I just finished "Women, Food and God" by Geneen Roth. It was on Oprah last week. The book basically came down to be the you, you want to be and let the past be the past. DON'T DIET! since we all know that just leads us to failure. The guidelines were to eat when hungry, stop when you are full and eat with out distractions (no tv, radio, reading during eating). You can eat whatever you want as long as you follow the guidelines. It seems to simple to work. But I thought I would give it a ago. I'll let you all know how its working for me.

Sounds like a good theory, will be interested to hear how you get on:)

Just found out that my one concern for this cruise, being that I work on a University campus, was a BTS promo's end date (can't say what promo yet) will be ending on the 7th of September!!! So almost a week ahead of schedule, I am all set to go without worry!!!

YEAH, 17 weeks is going to fly by now, as our back to school shopping season is starting in just a week or so.

Pj

Great news!:thumbsup2

Hope Becky is ok and copes with the weekend away.:hug:

Lime and macarpone torte sounds delicious .... can you share the recipe?

Will post a link in a minute Sarah:thumbsup2

UKAngel - let us know how your daughter did at the BBQ. How great that she will hang out with friends.

SOunds like you're working hard on the FE!:cool1:

Thank you, sounds like she had a ball!:thumbsup2

lol Su, don't really understand a word of that, but love to hear brags about our youngsters anyway!:thumbsup2

It's been wonderfully hot here in the UK too, wish we had a pool right here now!:)

Okay...I've just spent about four hours catching up on recent posts and others I knew would be of value since my absence from the DIS. I see I have several updates for the Pre-Cruise Accommodations List, so thank you, and keep them coming!

For those who remember from way back, I wanted to give an update on my grandmother. I ended up moving in with her to take care of her for 8 months. I "officially" came back home in early March and cried like a baby when I left. It was challenging and rewarding at the same time, but without question, it was time that I'll cherish forever! She's doing great and about 95% recovered from her surgery! I went up to visit with her for about 4 days this week, and we had a great time!

My 78 year old grandmother is just so cute! I have to tell you a funny story from my visit. If you're on FB with me, it will be a repeat for you, but it still cracks me up!

So Grandma and I were talking in her bedroom with her toy poodle, Sandy, laying on the bed. She says to me "There's a good chance I'm going to get another D-O-G." Yes. She spelled out "dog" so Sandy wouldn't know! :lmao: It was all I could do to not laugh hysterically, but somehow I did! (I love what Paula said in response on my FB page, which was that her german shepherd learned how to spell because they spelled in front of her so often!!! :rotfl:)

The next night, my mom was over at her house. I just couldn't resist. I had to tell Grandma that I had to "tell a funny" on her. It took me literally 4 minutes to tell the short story because I was laughing so hard before I could spell D-O-G! :rotfl2: OMG...we all laughed so hard that we were in tears!

Great to hear that you're even feeling up to logging in to give us an update! I hope that gas pain goes away quickly...it's SO uncomfortable!

I love hearing about kid brags! Bring 'em on! Congrats to all of them!!

Well, it's past time to get some sleep. Good night or good morning, depending on where you are!

What a great story!:rotfl: Bless her.

This was the recipe I used..... (from the Sainsbury web site).......

Mascarpone & Lime Torte

A dessert that could also be made using the zest and juice of oranges or lemons.

Serves: 8
Preparation time: 40 Minutes
Cooling Time: 30
Nutrition per serving: 431 cals, 34g fat, of which 5g saturated fat, 15g added sugar, 0.3g salt

You will need
• 200g pack ginger biscuits, crushed
• 50g butter, melted
• 2 x 250g tubs mascarpone cheese
• 40g icing sugar, sifted
• Finely grated zest and juice of 2 limes* (I used 3 for extra zing!)
• 50g dark chocolate, melted and made into chocolate leaves

Method
1. Mix together the crushed biscuits and the butter and press it into the base of a 18cm spring form cake tin. Beat together the mascarpone cheese, icing sugar, lime zest and juice. Spread over the biscuit base.
2. Chill for 30 minutes. Carefully remove the torte from the tin, by running a warmed knife around the inside of the rim, and decorate the top with chocolate leaves or shredded lime zest.

Enjoy!:rolleyes1

I have to admit my sisters dog I'm sure can spell WALK. We always say W-A-L-k so she doesn't get too excited but recently she's been responding to this too.

Oh yummy! Gonna try that in the week! Might not bother with the chocolate leaves mind as that's far too much effort lol!

It's Sunday night here now. We've had a busy weekend, I took some morning tea to visit my friend who broke her hip water skiing yesterday morning. Then went out for dinner with my family, sister's family and Mum, we alway have such a great time together, so ended upp being a late night. Then today we went to the International Boat Show (like an Expo). Kids have crashed and it's bedtime after this post.
ONLY 17 WEEKS UNTIL WE BOARD THE DISNEY MAGIC

YAY!!!!!

Am starting my pre-cruise diet tomorrow ( again) as my bad eating behaviour has gone on long enough .... and with only 3 months and a bit :scared1::scared1: to get organised it's time for action. Hope to lose 14 lbs before we go .... wish me luck :rotfl:

LUCK!:goodvibes I am starting my diet every Monday! :lmao:

Glad I'm not the only weird one! Had a head massage last month and had to get them not to touch my neck.

The rasul is $89 for 2 people and basically you get left alone in a steam room with various muds etc to rub on each other. I have done one over here as a girlie group not realising what it really is.

I'm giving up on the diet! I've just not been in the right mood for it and so have decided hey if it doesn't fit now it wont!
I'm sure the massage therapist are used to all kinds of weird and wonderful antics. ;)
Sign me up for the Rasul, sounds fun :thumbsup2
I like your diet theory! Even if it does fit now, it won't after 14 nights of overeating on the cruise! :rotfl:

I have decided to try and organise myself .... not an easy achievement to be honest, as I am so scatty, but I am determined to try.

This week I hope to acheve the following:

Finish ordering my FE gift materials for the ladies and the girls.
Decide on my gifts for the men and the boys.
Commence my pre-cruise diet / exercise regime.

There .... now it's down in writing I have to do it ...

I am a big list maker, makes me feel more in control. I am such a feather brain, I need my lists to tell me what to do! :confused3

I just can't figure out if we paid the surcharge, I earlier said I booked 2007 although it was around 20th Oct 08. How do you know if you paid it?

Disney for some strange reason sent a cheque for about $10, hardly a big deal, but we can't do anything with it and I can't for the life of me think why they sent it.

As for the Rasul, this is a couples time in a private steam room, generally naked, which can be as exotic or erotic as your imagination. See Barb's castaway pages for the full wink wink report.

Sounds like you did pay it at that time frame?
Maybe you over paid and the $10 cheque was a refund of some kind? Or a competition?
Rasul sounds fun!

Becky is going back to her house (she shares in Bristol where she's at Uni) for the weekend. It's her housemate's 21st Birhday so they're having a BBQ. Guess we'll see how she does on her own again.

We're having (DIS) friends over today for a mex-tex meal....margeritas in this glorious sunshine :cheer2: It's blazing hot already so the sun lotion is on and the coronas are chilling....I've made a lime and mascarpone torte....

Hope Becky has a happy and healthy weekend ;)
YUM, Margarita's and Lime and mascarpone torte!

Good Day everyone :)

I have to agree, I can eat a whole packet of Tim Tams if I'm in front of the TV! I ate a whole packet of choccie snakes yesterday! :scared1:

At top of the first page on the left is box to check to view last page read. Hope this helps.:)
Didn't know it was there, Thanks!!! :flower3:

according to DCL you can book it for 3..... Way too much info for me!!!

Eewwww! Isn't it a family boat? :rotfl:

Just popping in with a quick hi. Been back for about 4 hours from having my op. All has gone well. Been sleeping mostly. Have pain from the op and the gas they pump in, but this will go one way or another!!!;)

I look like they have drained the life blood from my face!!!

Hope you're all having a nice weekend.

Glad you doing well, was thinking about you. And as my Dad would say about that gas - Better out than in! :lmao:

I am sooooo excited! I have been working all morning/afternoon on my FE's and just LOVE the way it has turned out. I hope people like them in my group. Also, my bank called and my Euros are in!! YEAH!!!

How exciting, Since I'm not in your FE group, what are you making? Post a pic on the FE thread!!!

Sue

Even though I have no idea what you just said, (I have girls, LOL!), Sounds like it was very exciting. Let us know how he goes.

The above information matches what the little birdie said. I hope this helps. If anyone else is still wondering, I would suggest you call for yourself, as this doesn't seem to be a secret.

I have written down those dates, Thanks!

Just in case you didn't see on the main board:

Just wanted to pass along there's an iPod phone/touch app called Hidden Mickey's. You put in your DCL ships name and it tells you where you can find hidden Mickey's on each deck.

We don't get all the apps over here in OZ that you get, but will have a look, Thanks! :flower3:

 I once again apologize for being absent for so long. Please forgive me!

Welcome Back, I've added you for the PJ breakfast.

Recent pic of the family from Easter:

I have things to add, but do not know how to do multiple quotes, so bear with me here:

Is the KLM flight scary to watch and can you walk to the beach from the ship? I would love to get a picture.

Alex - welcome back and your children are beautiful!

Buckeye Gal - I laughed at your story, but my dog can spell so I am totally with grandmom. I will spell "dinner" and she will go to the kitchen and sit down.

I will try and post a big picture on the FE dis that Buckeye Gal started. I have 2 little things to do today and picture taking it is.

GranMaz - so glad you are feeling better. It helps when you rest and coming out of anesthesia is never fun.

UK Angel - the tart sounds wonderful and everything that my diet calls for:rotfl:

LittleDisneyLovers - it is so strange to hear that it is Sunday night and you are going to sleep when I just got up to start my day. Have good sleeps!

Todd - I ordered my luggage, just one for right now, so I am getting rid of my luggage with only one wheel. I am excited about using it and since my husband was apprehensive, he will use it for his San Francisco meeting in a couple weeks. If we like it, I will order another to get rid of the luggage with both wheels missing and a huge rip. Can you tell I needed luggage?

Is anybody doing the Long Bay beach excursion in Tortola? It sounded really nice. Has anybody been to Tortola before? I know of 2 people - one said the dolphin encounter was the best ever and the other person said, I will never go back again - nothing to do. I cannot go by either of these people because it was not through DCL.

I don't like Megan's Bay in St. Thomas, very small, crowded especially when you are there with a Carnival Ship - ugh! St. Maarten has beautiful beaches so I was wondering what Tortola beaches were like.

We went to Tortola on the Magic last September, so just for a day. It is really a beautiful island and we really enjoyed our morning tour, so for a day it is lovely. However I don't think there would be much to do for a longer stay apart from lie on the beaches, but I haven't looked into it. It is only small.

By the way, I have been meaning to say this for a long time. I love what you put on your roll call!! Couldn't have said it better myself!

You will definitely want to take a taxi or book a tour. Taxi from the pier to Maho is about $8 pp. You can also book an all-day tour, including Maho and Orient Beach (I've heard that Bernard is very good) for $30 pp.

The last time we went to Magan's Bay, there were very few people there. Plenty of space on the beach and in the water. (We did get a brief afternoon shower. Almost everybody got out of the water and ran for cover, even though it was not a thunder storm! Afraid of getting wet when you're already swimming in the ocean? :confused3) It is a beautiful beach to look at, especially from the top of the mountain. However, if you want to get away from the crowds and go to an absolutely beautiful beach, I recommend taking the ferry over to St. John and going to one of their many beaches. :cool1: Of course, we're not going to St. Thomas on this cruise, so that will have to be another time.

With all the talk about Tortola, I've been really fixed on going to the Baths. It just looks so beautiful, plus you get to see some of the countryside as you get there.

....Nice to see you back, my dogs can spell also, they are just hilarious, I had a patient on my knee last night watching tv as it was depressed and missing its mum, I said to it,, " dont look so worried, come on give me a high five(which my dogs do) AND IT DID :rotfl: hoe cool was that, the vet was in hysterics!!....

That *is* hilarious! You're indeed a healer!

....I have to admit my sisters dog I'm sure can spell WALK. We always say W-A-L-k so she doesn't get too excited but recently she's been responding to this too...

Maybe you need to start spelling in another language. In honor of Barcelona, you could start with Catalan spelling c-a-m-i-n-a-r! You can learn the language together then! :rotfl:

.......I've added you for the PJ breakfast.....

Merci beacoup!

I have things to add, but do not know how to do multiple quotes....I laughed at your story, but my dog can spell so I am totally with grandmom. I will spell "dinner" and she will go to the kitchen and sit down......

The multi-quotes are done by clicking on the button to the right of the [ Quote ] button that has the [ "+ ] on it. Then once you are ready to reply to all of the quotes you marked, you click on the [Post Reply] button, and they all show up!

Maybe you need to start spelling backwards for Hoagie Pie's ears!

Oh, that sounds wonderful!!! Just look at the healthy nutritional information!!:scared1::rotfl2:

...lol, another reason to start the diet tomorrow!:thumbsup2

Oh yummy! Gonna try that in the week! Might not bother with the chocolate leaves mind as that's far too much effort lol!

:thumbsup2 I didn't either! It takes about 5 minutes to make (apart from crushing the biscuits...which is very therapeutic) so is a real winner :rotfl2:
