It the excursion is 99 per person and it is an all day event - and remember this price is US dollars - and the price the other family spent was Euro's so it was about $350 USD - and they got no food or anything - here is what the tour includes:

On this tour you will:

Take a scenic 20-minute drive (approximate) along the south Coast to Cabo Girão, the second highest sea cliff in the world.

Continue to the Village of Ribeira Brava where you can enjoy approximately 40 minutes of free time before continuing to Encumeada Pass from where, weather permitting, you can see both the north and south ends of Madeira.

Note: The amount of walking during this tour is at the Guest's discretion, however typically there will be approximately 0.5 miles of walking on cobblestone, flat and uphill surfaces. Wear comfortable walking shoes.

Descend the mountain and make a photo stop in São Vicente before continuing along the northern coast to the Village of Porto Moniz.

Visit the Centre of Live Science, featuring informative and interactive exhibits. Alternatively, you may enjoy a swim in the natural volcanic rock swimming pools of Porto Moniz.

Enjoy a traditional Madieran-style lunch at a local restaurant (included in the price of this tour).

Continue past Paúl da Serra en route to the south coast.

Drive back to the pier.

Sounds like a great way to spend the day.:dance3:

It will be - come with us!!!

I was going to ask if anybody has a laminating machine? I went to the laminator today for some FE stuff and magnets and he wanted $1.99 a page! I have LOTS of pages. I saw one in Michael's for $19.99 but wanted to know if anybody has a brand they recommend. I think it would be cheaper if I did it.

I have still not paid for the cruise, and my deadline is tomorrow. We have not sat down and gone over shore excursions either. I am normally over planning and this time I am not. I need some pixie dust to get my act together because my sister and DBIL are doing their vow renewal on the cruise and my birthday is while we are on the cruise. Maybe tonight I will bite the bullet and just pay it off and then get the shore excursions done.

We have two that laminates on magnetic sheets. One is a brother from Walmart, and the other is a xyron from Michaels and I beileve they are really from the same company and the cartridges are identical. Hope this helps

Lauren and I are officially PAID IN FULL!!!! :cool1:

Here is what we were told about theme nights: Nights 2 & 7 are Formal. Night 13 is Semi-Formal. Night 11 is Pirate Night. Night 8 is "Theme" Night. They told us to check back at a later date to find out what "Theme" Night is. :confused3 They said that the EBTA did not have this "Theme" Night. So, I guess we'll eventually find out what that is all about.

Daniel

This is what Castaway Club gave me. :confused3 What to do, what to do.

I wonder if the Theme night might relate to our special entertainment guest(s), hmmmm

Pj

:woohoo::dance3:Oh, something special just for us!!! :goodvibes

I can't comment here (though I'm English by birth :) ) but people always love the Poly but it does nothing for me - I already live in the pacific - the long house called Aotearoa = New Zealand, its the Maori word for it :)

And for us Wilderness Lodge is the same. Lots of folks rave about it, but it is where we live so.....:rolleyes1 We want tropical!!

Good morning planners!!!

Oh, isn't it all just SO exciting.:dance3::dance3::dance3::dance3::dance3:

Oh it is!!! :woohoo::dance3: Tonight's the night!!! :dance3:

Did everybody have fun booking their excursions that could book today? I was thinking about all the fun you must be having and cannot wait till June 5th!:)

It is actually tomorrow....so midnight tonight Florida time!!! 12 more hours!! :woohoo: Waiting...waiting....

Just spoke to dd who says drinks in central London can be anything.....from £2.50 to £5 (!!!) for a pint of beer, and similar for a spirit & mixer.....it does depend on the place you drink and where it is......how trendy etc!:rolleyes1

Afternoon tea at Harrods Georgian Rooms, or one of the plush hotels like the Ritz etc is a really quaint English delight :) The Champagne tea at harrods is even nicer!
afternoon tea

Thank you so much for the info and the link. We may just try afternoon tea for £10.

:rotfl2: Re the afternoon booze!!!!
Go for the champagne Tea then!!;)
We have some US friends who came over on the Eb and went to London and just HAD to to have an Afternoon Tea in London!!!
See??? It is an occasion in London!!!!! Get the champagne!!!!
I'm looking into it, just googling for Gluten Free!

If you need somewhere cheap - Wetherspoon pubs fit the bill. The food is OK and drink is affordable. They are a big chain however the pubs usually have a bit of character.
I went to the JD wetherspoon web site and they have a Gluten Free Menu! :cool1::cool1:

I think if you're hoping to pop into a passing pub and find gluten free you might be out of luck! but not being gluten free myself i may be wrong on that one.
google "gluten free london" to find some interesting and helpful websites.
SW
That's why I like getting names of places so I can google them and see what they have:thumbsup2

I was going to say that too, till I read the gluton thing, I was in last week, vegi burger, fries, salad and a bottle of becks for 5.50 what a bargain.
So looking forward to it!

I ordered my Euros at the bank!! I am sooo excited. I got a great exchange rate considering what I got 3 years ago, but anyway I thought I should do it. I only got 100 because I just need it for lunch/shopping in Gibralter. I am doing the Madiera excursion that Krisann talked about so I am set. Okay, I will be thinking of everyone booking their stuff tonight at midnight. I will probably be up!!

Before you know it you will be laminating everything!!!

Wouldnt pounds have been a better rate?

I didn't even look into pounds. I was so excited about this exchange rate! I was just thinking to go for something everybody can take. If I happen to see olives in the Barcelona airport, I am all over that. I can go on and on about the olives because I have never tasted olives like the ones in Spain. Okay, I am done the olive rant!

Hi all,

I am terribly behind in reading. I have been helping out at my folks house out of town for the past three weeks. Looks like I will be here a great deal of the summer so that we can get them out of the house and into something more manageable. That process can't really start until we can get the health stabilized.

But onto the Tea portion of the message....

Just wanted to remind everyone on the list that it is different than most of the other lists. From what I have been told we cannot send in a list for afternoon tea.

If anyone has any contacts, please let me know.

If one of the platinum members could make note of the dates and times of the teas, we can decide when to do it.

With all the tastings I am afraid that we will be conflicting with something else.

Do we have a master list of all the activities?

But to recap, each participant will have to book their own tea time during their excursion bookings.

I will try and PM each tea list member and let them know of the date and time.

Once again, if anyone has any ideas that might work better, please let me know. I have never done this before.

How many people and is it worth asking the concierge if they can assist?

You can book Palo when you book your excursions - this includes dinner, brunch or tea - or all 3!!! Let me know what else you need to know!

I just received this from my travel agent: I don't know if this will help anyone, but I thought I would pass it along::thumbsup2

I just wanted to give everyone the heads up on currency exchange onboard the Magic. From what I saw with guest onboard they were very surprised when they could not get Euros onboard without US or other currency to exchange it with. Many thought they could charge it to their onboard account.
To get Euros onboard you need cash or traveler’s cheques. You cannot use a credit card to get Euros. The ship does not have an ATM. They will only accept one personal checkup to $200 USD . That is one check for the length of the sailing. For the Mediterranean Euros were good in all ports.

Tunisia does have it's own currency but you cannot not exchange it ahead of time. Most merchants will take Euros so there is no need to exchange it once you get there. If you do exchange it to their currency you would have to change it back since they do not allow it to leave the country. I also recommend that if you have clients going to Tunisia that you suggest they stick with a DCL excursion. We heard many guest who had issues who explored on their own. There was a DCL excursions that was an hour late coming back so DCL had to hold the ship. Tunisia was the only port that we had to show our passports in. Otherwise I suggest leaving the passports on the ship in the safe.
