Sept 18 2010 WB TransAtlantic Pirates/Capt Jacks Re-Repoing Repossession Cruise Pt.4

So, thanks to everyone's advice, I did book another cruise (Yeah!). I am going to Alaska on May 17,2011.

I have a question about strategizing to get a discount. I know when I am on the TA cruise that I should inquire about prices/offers for a future cruise. When I meet to talk about a future cruise, should I mention that I have an existing reservation or just ignore that. Then, if i get a better deal, i could just cancel the existing reservation without any penalty.

Any suggestions? What has worked for all of you in the past?
Just ask them to rebook it. We will be looking at the same thing for our July 2011 Alaska cruise.

Hi everyone,

We have not checked in for a while, so I wanted to do just that. Plus, I have a good reason to. When my DW, Lauren, and I made the decision to do the Westbound Transatlantic, we asked ourselves "When are we going to be in Europe again?" Since I am a horrible.....HORRIBLE flyer, I told her that it wouldn't be for a while. :rotfl:

Anyway, we decided to make this trip count. Our original plan was to fly into London on Sept 7th from Orlando, then head to Paris and Disneyland Paris (We just have to, right?? ), visit some of Germany, then ending up in Barcelona for a couple days before we board the Disney Magic for the first time. Since its the Disney Cruise that is the main reason for the trip, I am counting what I am about to tell you as a major pixie dusting. Even if Disney had nothing to do with it.

Our neighbor, without us knowing, entered us in a radio sweepstakes. Well, guess what....WE WON!!! We won round trip airfare from Orlando to Amsterdam!!!! :yay: :woohoo: :cool1:

We are just so excited and know that this trip is meant to be!! Now, if it will only get here already!! :lmao:

We still have alot of planning and booking left to go, as I am sure many of you do. Looking forward to meeting as many of you as we can on our journey together!! :goodvibes

Daniel

Wow!! Nice neighbors! Congratulations.

We went through that when the kids were home. Since now we are empty nesters, we can find more time to spend together. It is harder to spend time with kids and GK's as they are just as busy!!

Tony and I never get time to spend together at the moment .... we have one DS (16) living full time at home, one DD (19) in University living part-time at home, which generally warrants me driving to bring her back home and take her back to Uni most weekends, and another DD (19) at a different Uni in a totally different direction who comes and goes, and one or more of them is generally needing a lot of attention for one thing or another. Two of them are artists so my home is generally a mess with art materials all over .... as we don't have a spare room for them to keep all their stuff in. We also have DS girlfriend staying every other weekend. I do moan about never having any time for us but I suppose really I wouldn't change things ( except for the mess ). I am so looking forward to the cruise as we will have some " us time " for the first time in ages.

I agree, unfortunately no time this weekend. Heading to work nights in just a couple minutes. Let the fun begin.

Jon

I have nights Sunday ..... always depresses me and takes me about 3 days to recover from one night shift.

Hope work goes ok for you, at least like me you have an intersesting (unlike my first job:sad2:)
OK ... I am officially intrigued, what was your first job?

So, thanks to everyone's advice, I did book another cruise (Yeah!). I am going to Alaska on May 17,2011.

:woohoo: how wonderful. You will see some marvellous things in Alaska. I worked on a cruise ship there for 3 months and it was amazing.

I love taking pictures of food too! I'll have my camera every night at dinner for sure! :) When my sister went on a RCCL cruise last summer, I asked her take pictures of the food and she wouldn't! :( Oh well...

Me too ..... in fact I take photos of everything !!!

:woohoo::woohoo: Its back! :woohoo: :woohoo:
:yay: :yay: Its back!!! :yay: :yay:
:dance3: Wahoo!!! :dance3:
:cool1::cool1: Its back!!! :cool1::cool1:

What am I cheering about? The website!!!

Great news Sue .... thanks to you and Glenn for all your hard work to restore the website :worship: :worship: it is much appreciated.

Our neighbor, without us knowing, entered us in a radio sweepstakes. Well, guess what....WE WON!!! We won round trip airfare from Orlando to Amsterdam!!!! We are just so excited and know that this trip is meant to be!! Now, if it will only get here already!!

Just wondering if anyone else would like to join in with the WBTA Secret Mickey ..... it should be a lot of fun. In case you are wondering what is involved .........

This works along the same idea as a Secret Santa. Each participating stateroom will be matched with another stateroom, and the idea is to buy or make a gift or gifts, with a total cost per cabin of no more than $25. The gift (s) can be one big joint gift for all those in the stateroom, or small individual gifts for each person. The gifts can be left in the FE during the cruise, or you can have the room attendant put the gift in the room. You should have a tag/card that designates it as a gift from their Secret Mickey.

To enable me to match up the rooms, I will need the following information from each participating group:

1. name of participants
2. ages and genders of any children participating
3. DIS name
4. cabin number
5. each person's likes or preferences
6. each person's dislikes
7. any allergies
8. favourite Disney characters for each participant
9. hobbies or interests of each participant

This will help give the participants some idea of what they can incorporate into their gift.

Could you please PM me (TotallyAngelic) with the information required.

There will have to be a closing date to give people time to think about and make / buy their gifts, and I think July 1st would be about right.

Please sign up to join in the Secret Mickey fun ......

Thanks

Sarah

I am working on this right now and will PM you the information shortly.

Thanks to all of you for the encouragement regarding contacting DCL about the cabin assignment. Unfortunately due to my shift yesterday I was not able to contact DCL myself, but before I left for work, I emailed my fabulous travel agent at DU to ask if there was anything she could do to help. I had an email from her when I got up this morning saying that this took some convincing as DCL was not going to downgrade me at first, but I am now in 2513, which is a category 12 cabin on deck 2 forward. I am so glad to have the single bathroom and love the location - just a short walk down the corridor and a ride on the lift and I am right in the spa. She really has come through for me.

It is such a busy time you are in at the moment, but very worthwhile!!! All of a sudden it is over and you wonder where those years have gone!!!:confused3

Having said that we did rather give a cheer when the last one left home and we started having plenty of us time, holidays on our own without worrying about the children back home etc!!! I never had the empty nest syndrome at all!!!!:rotfl2::rotfl2: Never ever, just had a ball since!!:rotfl:

Marilyn............. as Len would say you are the bees knees.:bride:

Sarah, I worked in factory for 7 years, time n motion, man it was tough, if you didnt go fast enough you earned diddly squat.
Most days I sewed 1000 plus barbour jacket sleeves, I hated it, when I met Len, he encoureged and financed my dream to be a vet nurse.we saved up (i also worked nights in a pub) so I could leave and take 3 years off to train as a vet nurse. When I say I would rather do a 44 hour shift in the vets rather than 5 hour in the factory I truly mean it.

Hi all

Thank you all so much for the Happy Birthdays. Dan swept me away for a romantic night in Swansea so haven't had a chance to get on since Friday. It was a lovely night. Choose to eat Mexican which was yummy. Went for a walk along the beach this morning before heading back to have a birthday lunch with my Nan (her birthday is the 13th). Knackered now

DH took me out for a lovely Japanese sushi meal last night.

Looks very yummy!

What am I cheering about? The website!!!

For all newcomers please go out to:

Sign up for roll call, FE, Secret Mickey and hopefully more to come soon. lanyards are listed - but I am not sure that they are using that list (Someone let me know!!)

Anyway, the site is back up and Glenn has moved on to baseball scheduling for our 13 year old. Actually - it could be rescheduling as I think the rain has done in opening weekend...

Well done Glenn (and Sue cause I know you were helping too if only with support )

Hello All,

Just crossed over from that "other" board. Stuck my pin in the map, signed up on the Pirate Roll Call, and said yes to the lanyards - just not sure if that is sufficient to sign up.

I need to send a PM to Sue but can't until I have 10 posts, so expect to see some rapid fire posting! :rolleyes1

Michael

In perusing the "Trip Reports" Board, it appears that, at least on the 2007 WBTA, there were two formal nights. One on the first day at sea between Barcelona and Gibraltar (although in 2007 the itinerary was different) and one on the last sea day before Castaway Cay. Anybody have any better info?
