Hi Kelly.

I'm getting very excited about this cruise. Looking forward to meeting you all too.:dance3:

We are in Orlando at the momemt - into our last 2,weeks of our almost 6 wek trip, and I don't want to go home.:sad2: Coming for so long we find a cheaper place to stay for the last few weeks and kind of live here, rather than be tourists, if you understand what I mean. Lots of cheap meals at the villa and cheap eateries out. I could come for the winter actually, but that won't happen!!

Anyway, I heard last week that I have to have an MRI scan as a follow up to a second ultrasound I had just before we came away following the attack of Acute Pancreatitis I had last December. It is worrying me a little, and I hope all comes back clear and we can focus on this cruise. A little concerned about insurance for this cruise in case they won't cover me!!! The radiographer wondered if she had found some very small gallstones, or an area of wall thickening of the gallbladder, but it wasn't conclusive even after scanning for 30 minutes. She was going to show the consultant Radiologist and see if he would recommend a different scan. I didn't expect this at all though. I just thought they would whip the gallbladder out(small op these days) and be done, presuming that was the cause of the Acute Pancreatitis attack. Ah well, we will see eventually. Can't do anything from here, so have decided to relax and forget about it!!!

Fingers crossed for you. I hope it is just a quick removal of the gall bladder. I had that done a few years ago and the recovery is quite fast.

We will be keeping you in our prayers, Marilyn! Our son and daughter both had to have some kind of fancy scan on gallbladders before they were eventually removed. No stones, but sphincter was not working properly, causing all kinds of trouble for both, including pancreatitis for son.

Make that x2

Jon

X3 Yay Glenn!!!!!! Thanks, Sue:hug:

I didn't know your son had had pancreatitis. Nasty illness as I am sure he would agree, and I don't want it again. So, I am pleased they are taking investigations further. I thought I would have a battle on my hands to get any more investigations. Some surgeons aren't bothered about continuing to find a cause if you are diagnosed with idiopathic(basically no known cause) pancreatitis, so at least I seem to have a good one!!!

He just had a day of similar pain this past week and went to the ER to get it checked out. No pancreatitis this time (Yay!), they thought the pain might be residual from surgery somehow in his bowel....maybe stitches or something?? Anyway, glad the pancreatitis checked out ok this time. :thumbsup2 Yes, he would agree with you. He was in the hospital several days before they finally removed the gallbladder and the pancreas settled down.

Welcome aboard! And greetings to another from the DC area! There are several of us if the map is still accurate that has where everyone is from posted on it!

We originally booked DCL air as a backup, but booked with US Air back in January when they had the fare sale. Though we also have status on United, I couldn't justify the fare difference since the US Air ticket (one way to BCN) was only $401/pp. But we are still getting United mileage credit for the flight, and still get free bags via the Star Alliance Silver status. Plus, since we can't fly non-stop from Dulles or National, I really wanted a flight that had 1 connection in the US, so we didn't have to worry about transferring in an international airport.

Though we live right by Dulles airport, we're actually flying out of National, since there were more flight options that resulted in shorter layovers in Philly. We're going to try to fly back into Dulles after the cruise though since it's so much closer to home.

I am very claustrophobic and actually take medication for panic and anxiety so it is economy plus or business or I do not fly. Even then I take medication before I get on the plane. We are connecting through Munich rather than Frankfurt because it is much easier. Frankfurt can be a nightmare. Have done it twice in the last two years and even with a 3 hour layover we were tight getting to the gate because Luftansa in the US and United in the US can not check you through to your final destination so you have to check in once you get to Germany. It is a real pain since United and Luftansa are in different terminals, but in Munich they are in the same terminal and we don't have to go out and back through security a couple of times. We have done Munich in the past and it is much easier. With Disney's deviation we were able to pick out flight and our seats.

We saw Alice in Wonderland today. It was amazing! I think I liked it better than Avatar. This is only the third Tim Burton film I've seen (Sweeney Todd, Edward Scissorhands are the other two) so maybe I'll have to check out the rest....

I've connected Luftansa to United in Frankfurt before, and it is a royal pain. Glad to hear you have a more straightforward connection planned!

Though I do have to admit that I will forever remember my experience in Frankfurt airport trying to get my breast pump (and milk) through the security screening checkpoint. I didn't know men could blush so severely as the little guy did who asked me if it was a breathing machine and made a gesture to help with the translation, and I replied that no, it was a breast pump, and gave him my own gesture that he immediately got!

Is it too late to join? My DH and I just booked this cruise - our first Disney cruise and first cruise together. Sadly, so far the only planning I have done is booking the cruise - you are all so far ahead!

:welcome: on board, Witherbark

At long last, we think we have the website figured out! Glenn is working on uploading the DB and all today :surfweb: . So, hopefully we will have it up and running tonight or tomorrow!!!:woohoo:

So, for everyone that is new, keep an eye out for www.transatlanticpirates.com
We have our roll call, FE signup, Secret Mickey and more coming out there.

For the FE, I will get groupings started next weekend. Hopefully by then everyone will have a chance to go and sign up!

Happy Sunday everyone!
Sue

That is good news about the website. Thanks Glenn for all the hard work and thanks Sue for organizing the Fish Extender exchange. I need to start thinking what I will do for this. I just ordered the supplies for the gifts for the Med cruise.

I hope that you will get a clean bill of health or if you need any treatment, that it is something that can be done quickly and without any problems.

We prefer Munich also but I have family in Frankfort that we are going to have dinner with the night we land. Our United flight actually gets into Frankfort at 3PM but we couldn't make the connection we wanted to so we are staying at the airport overnight. My German family will take us out to dinner and since we haven't seen them since 2000, it will be a nice reunion.

I have a question about the onboard credits people were getting. I tried to go back to find it in this thread, but I'm not seeing the whole story. I'm sorry if I'm re-asking something that's already been covered.

I heard that some people who booked early were getting letters from Disney saying they got an onboard credit for this sailing. Is this correct? I booked the day it became available, so I'm assuming I'd qualify.

Anyone know more about this?

Kelly,

Starting late in 2009 some of us received letters with a $100/person onboard credit offer, "for booking early", issue with the letters is that it said baltic and med cruises. It would seem that there was an error that anyone leaving Barcelona could have also received the letter. DCL is honoring the OBC for those who have received the letter in error. Not everyone who booked before November 2009 got the letters, and anyone who booked after November of 2009 isn't suppose to have any chance of getting one.

Kelly,

Are you booked on DVC points? If so, I don't think you'll be getting the letter. We booked this cruise using points and I haven't heard of anyone that has used points getting the OBC. :sad1:

Krista,

No. I booked this one with cash. I booked it while I was onboard another sailing so that I could get the OBC that DCL offers for rebooking. So my travel agent is saying I probably won't get any extra credits from Disney. I booked it in October 2008.

I was hoping for a little extra to spend at Vista Spa! :cloud9:

It has been kind of wacky with the OBC letters, some who had the onboard booking credit did get letters, others have been told that they can't get both the letter and OBC. The US and Canada saw the letter in Late 2009, UK in early 2010 and NZ and Australia just this past month. If you or your TA hasn't seen it yet, it isn't likely to be coming.

I'm pretty sure they plan on ditching me once we board the ship. I guess I'll have to find some way to amuse myself!

Nice to have you back and I'm sure you'll find lots to do with or without your kids ;)

I put in our request for our DVC ressie at GCH today - not sure if I got the dates right but they will be sure to let me know. Once thats confirmed, then I can book our internal US flight and book our rental car and also see if we can swap to another resort other than SSR - love SSR but we stayed there last trip so were hoping for somewhere else this time.

Hi, quick question, I have heard such mixed reviews about SSR, I thought I'd ask you what you loved / hated about it, since your nearly my neighbour, lol.
I have booked all my flights, so I have 12 nights at WDW. We stayed at POFQ last time and loved it. There is me, DH and DD's 8 & 9. TIA, Hayley :goodvibes

He has made so many amazing films ... my favourites are Nightmare Before Christmas, Corpse Bride, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Edward Scissorhands, Ed Wood, Sweeney Todd and Sleepy Hollow. But now my all time favourite is definitely Alice in Wonderland. Hopefully they will show it on the Disney Magic as I would love to see it again :goodvibes:goodvibes

Hi Everyone!

I've been just horrible about checking in on the DisBoards since the DVC Cruise. But I very much enjoyed meeting some of the DISers back in September and really want to get to know some of my cruisemates for this TA cruise.

So I'm signing back in to say hi :wave2: !

I will do better trying to keep up with you all. This cruise is coming up quickly and I am just SO excited!

Kelly

HI Kelly :goodvibes Great to see you checking in again. Soon we will be only 6 months to go and then things will be very exciting around here :woohoo:

WOW ... 6 weeks in Florida ..... makes me look forward to retirement - hopefully in 10 years time :rotfl: Hopefully your scan will be just precautionary. If the first scan wasn't conclusive they should always follow it up to tick all the boxes. I am sure this is just to confirm whether or not you have gallstones in view of the first scan being inconclusive. The best thing is to put it to the back of your mind, try and relax and wait until you return home to think about it.

:woohoo::woohoo: Thank you so much Glenn for all your hard work on getting the website up and running again .... you are a star

This weeks question:
What name does the Indian Chief bestow on Peter Pan after Peter Pan saves the life of his daughter, Tiger Lily?

Please PM the answer.

Jon

Have sent you an answer Jon. By the way those ice diving photos were absolutely stunning. Although how you can go into that water at sub zero temperatures is completely beyond me :scared1::scared1::scared1:

Have you considered Old Key West? This is a really pretty resort and usually quite easy to get even at relatively short notice. This is out home resort, but we are staying at Bay Lake Towers this time. DH always wanted to stay at the Contemporary Resort so that is a good fit for us especially as we only have 5 days at WDW this time round.
