We have just returned from seeing Alice in Wonderland in 3 D and it was amazing ..... absolutely fantastic! Visually stunning and the 3 D effects were incredible. The characters were all superb, and although there were a few dark moments it was all exactly how I would have imagined it. Tim Burton is a genius. We all loved it and can not recommend it enough! GO SEE IT !!!!

I'm excited to see it! We might have to wait until we see it on the ship though. We don't seem to get to very many movies at the theater.

Is it too late to join? My DH and I just booked this cruise - our first Disney cruise and first cruise together. Sadly, so far the only planning I have done is booking the cruise - you are all so far ahead!

Welcome! Remember to check out the first page for all kinds of great information.

:welcome: Welcome aboard!!!! And you decided to start with a fourteen-day cruise as your first cruise. I did the exact same thing in 2008. You are going to love it!!! DCL is awesome!!!!:woohoo::woohoo:

Is there any downside to booking with AllSeas as opposed to disney? Will the cruise still count towards Castaway club status? Will i get a reservation number and be able to book shore excursions through disney? The prices seem pretty similar, maybe a couple hundred less - I am just wondering what others think - thanks! I can't believe I could be preparing to go cruising twice in such a short period of time, but, why not?:cool1:

I remember being told that DCL is the only cruise line that is able to do fireworks at sea. But, do they (can they) have fireworks on the TA cruise? I thought the fireworks were the same night as the Pirates IN the Caribbean deck party - I presume that will occur while we are well at sea on the TA cruise - so unless the fireworks are launched from the ship - how would they do that?pirate:

we were on a cruise and my table mates had worked with the stage director before. So he joins us for dinner a couple nights. One night we got talking about the fire works. Some of the interesting thing about it is they can only bring a very specific fireworks amount on board. They are and will be the only cruise line to shoot fireworks off the ship, because they are the biggest user of fireworks in the world and have some of the best trained firework tech in the world. They have to start a countdown 6 hours in advance of launching the fire works to the coast guard and other ships in the area. They have to have the wind to the aft and starboard part of the ship. That is why the ship may be changing direction a lot during the show. When the start shooting the fireworks the have to announce the launch and explosion of every shell. If one of the shell misfire or exploded to close to the ship they stop the fireworks immediately. Fireworks are shot from the roof of Palo. Also they are not allowed to bring any firework back to the USA. Then the keep the ones that they did not use on castaway cay. They have a fireworks storage cabinet there. If they can not get to castaway cay or the cabinet is full they launch them in the middle of the night unannounced

Cool dis guy,

the only difference from booking with DCL directly is that any changes or additions you want to make the reservation will have to be done via AST. It will still count toward Castaway Club status, you have a DCL reservation # and most likely a AST # as well, check with your agent.

Once you have the DCL ressie number you will be able to see your cruise on the DCL site and be able to complete both your cruise documents, and book excursion when you window opens.

Very cool info. I love the backstage details. I really enjoyed all the cool Disney talks on the WBPC cruise, can't wait to learn who will be speaking on this cruise.

That is really cool information! We were on the 2007 EBTA and we had fireworks in the middle of the Atlantic! It was really cool. We also had one of the most amazing fireworks shows I've ever seen to welcome the ship to Barcelona. The fireworks were launched from the pier and there were helicopters taking pictures. It was absolutely incredible! We were just offshore and then the ship went back out into the med for the night since we were not docking until the next morning. I did feel a bit sorry for the Celebrity ship that was already in port. They saw an amazing show, but were in the "smoke".

I would guess that we will have fireworks "IN" the carribean on this cruise - but who knows:confused3.

:) Hi all! We are still booked on this trip and REALLY want to go, but our Fall plans are still so much up in the air. I'm applying to Nursing School. I won't know if I get in for Fall 2010 or Spring 2011 until mid to late May:eek:. If I haven't heard by final payment day we will have to cancel and then rebook later. Silly - since it will likely be a matter of just a few days mismatch, but oh well! I'm hanging on to my ressie as long as possible!

Anywho, that's why I haven't been very active recently - that, I'm taking 5 classes currently! I just took the final for one class though  so I'm rewarding myself with a little DIS time:thumbsup2.

Welcome!!! As most have said, check out post #1 for information. We have a separate website you can link to from post #1 but it's been having server trouble and our expert tech is working on moving it to a new server so I'm not sure it's back up and running as of yet. Once it's up you can add your name to the roll call and add your name if you want to particiapte in FE's, Secret Mickey and/or lanyards.

I remember someone posted a film of the welcome you received in Barcelona. It was fantastic on film and I can only imagine what it was like to actually be there!

Very cool. Thanks for the info.

My twin was very thirsty so she asked somebody where the water fountain was. The person looked at her with a puzzled look so instead she said drinking fountain.

Oh yes, that would be a bubbler!

They are called water fountains here in NZ too - wonder where the term bubbler comes from then?

We will be hiring a car as we have about 12 days at WDW (plans still in the making)

This has probably been mentioned before, but I was wondering what everyone plans to do with their time in Barcelona? Other than recovering from the jet lag, of course. :lmao: I'm trying to decide what I'd like to do with my day there, as I'm not so much a museum person.

Hop-on hop-off bus and probably a museum but not really sure at this stage.

Checked airfare again and it went up....seems to do that every so often. Does everyone else already have their air tickets????

We did our airfares back in Jan - just so we could be assured of the dates we wanted.

Anyone else at SS? I know its not always top of people's lists, but we got a great deal for it. And I like being near to Downtown, so easy to visit other resorts for dinner, using Disney transport. We will likely hire a car from Port to Disney..as we will take the opportunity to visit Walmart etc But we havent really decided.

Thus far we are at SSR until the 15th but thats subject to change... ;)

They're great and so helpful when ever we phone them. We use them all the time now. Your cruise will count towards CC status and you will be able to book your excursions on-line. They will send you an email version of your paperwork which includes your ressie number. The other good think for us in the UK is that they have a tol-free number we can use too.

Never too late, unless the ship has left the dock. Welcome. I am glad to see there is another group from the DC area. There are a few of us.

We are using Disney air because I will only fly United so I can get the extra leg room by using economy plus. We already have our flight information because we paid for the deviation. Their pricing is about $700 per person cheaper than I can get it through United. This is for a regular coach ticket as we are eligible to fly in economy plus for free because of our status with United. Some people have found great reates with US Air out of National, but that fare seems to have been short lived. Good luck on the flight search.

Finally got caught up on the previous weeks posts. I haven't forgot about the trivia question just been to busy getting things in order around here again.

We will likely hire a car from Port to Disney..as we will take the opportunity to visit Walmart etc But we havent really decided.

Don't tell Candida that you might be stopping at Walmart :rolleyes1

Well, took both boys to the doctor yesterday. They both have strep throat. Liam also has a double ear infection and a sinus infection. Does not make for a happy 3yr old! And today, I decided to go to the doctor to find out what was up with me, thought it was just a cold...nope, I have bronchitis....ugh!!!! Well, we are all on antibiotics and it should be gone soon! ;)

Hope they feel better soon
I was disappointed that we didn't win, but by the same token I was kinda glad because that night I discovered that our littlest has chicken pox!

He's doing really well. Just a little itchy. Lots of spots, though. I am glad he got it young though as it seems to be worse the older a kid you are. And adults seem to get it in quite a serious form. So we can check off another childhood illness!

Here is some get well wishes for him:wizard:

WE HAVE ONLY 28 WEEKS TO GO UNTIL WE BOARD THE DISNEY MAGIC !!!!!

We "cheated" with our airfare. We booked round trip instead of one way since it was a lot less to do that. I don't think the airline is going to care that we don't show up for the return leg of our trip.

We are arriving in Barcelona on the morning of the 17th. So we will have time to see the city before we board the ship.

This was my week in Quebec. Ice diving and rappelling. The quarry is 128' deep with a submerged plane, "submarine", two cars, a boat and a couple other small items. In the summer they have a bungee jump area and a zip line across the quarry.
