Well I still dont know if I did the right thing booking our flights so early on. Have checked and the price has actually the same so made me feel a bit better about it.

What airport are you leaving from? I have been watching as well, but the lowest I have seen is $1400. I have to admit I have not checked since Monday because my grandmother passed away and I have been busy helping my mother with all the arrangements.

Donna

Sorry to hear your news.

I just daren't check mine out as I know there will be cheaper flights out there now and it will annoy me ..... so none the wiser I am pretending to be happy with the flights I have already booked.:rotfl::rotfl:

Oh nice saving!

Thanks Woody. I am not too worried about the meals as the long flight is overnight and I don't really eat on those flights, and we will probably pick up something in the airport when we transfer flights. I do rely on the seatback TV though, to distract me from the fact that I am up in the air.
I recall United sells headphones on domestic flights, but gives them for free on international flights.

If you have headphones or (iPod) earbuds, I recommend bringing them. The first leg of your flights is from Orlando to Washington DC.

Woody

I fly United a lot (living in DC) and there are headphones in every seat back for free use. Plus XM Satellite radio channels (some, not all) are available to listen to free in the armrest of most regular planes. (Including XM's kids channel, Kids Place Live, which is what we listen to in our cars with the kids which is great for when you can't use other electronics during takeoff and landing.)

Personally I bring my own since the airline's give me the willies, but that's just me.

Welcome ...... are you the famous AFEG who is mentioned in Underdog's cruise report. Thats a very good price ..... I am not going to ask about your transatlantic flights home as they must be very very cheap and that will not go down well with me who booked way too early and booked non-refundable flights at too high a price in desperation after the Globespan fiasco :rotfl:

Thanks Woody .... I will have either an ipod or a netbook with me so I should have some headphones. Thanks for the heads up :goodvibes

Hey Everyone!

Well, I know that my absence has been the subject of conversation since Hadley started posting again....:lmao:....so I thought I'd chime in real quick. I absolutely promise that I have been logging on and at least skimming the boards 2 or 3 times a week....so I know MOST of what's been going on even when I've been really silent and inactive.

My and Jason's lives are just so crazy now.....we've both had big changes in our jobs. We both still have our jobs but BOTH our organizations went through a major merger/take-over effective January 1st----mine with about 8 months advance notice and planning and Jason's with about 8 DAYS of notice!!! So that's just a lot of extra stress and work and everything.....

....plus I am right in the middle of cheerleading season now :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2: official competition season for our squad began two weeks ago when we hosted our own annual tournament and now starting tomorrow we have competitions on 5 out of the next 8 Saturdays AND one Sunday-----so add that to all the practices, my full time job, etc. and it's just exhausting and significantly cutting into my DISboards and trip planning time!! :confused3 :rotfl2:

Anyhow...thought I'd log on quickly to chime in, say we're still here, we're still going (doing the B2B actually) and I definitely AM still doing lanyards. In the coming weeks I will be posting some final details about the lanyards for everyone (I hope to have them ordered by the end of April) and will also be confirming with everyone their lanyard orders (since I know that some people who ordered them have dropped and some new folks have joined). For now, though, if people want to include their lanyard info in their roll call registration on the fabulous new cruise website....that is helpful. I am easily able to pull up that screen and see info listed out. I am also still checking (periodically) the wbtalanyards@yahoo.com email address so folks can also send me their info there.

I'll try to post a little bit more often in the coming weeks!

Yes it is i,i travelled with Bob for my sins,A very rough bunch i may add,so much so we slept with the light on most nights,i know,i know but being a bit of a delicate flower they all became a bit too much for me.....

Hey everybody,
I too, have been off the boards for a while lurking in the background trying to keep up.
Well, it's now real for me too. Just made our Flight arrangements and hotel arrangements. Philly to London for 5 days and then off to Barcelona for 3 days before the cruise. I am amazed that so many hotels are booked. I'm stuck at the W Barcelona at 20,000 points a night:scared1: Any one else staying at the W?

I know it was a wile ago, but my choice for which character to be stranded with is genie from Aladdin

Hi and welcome! Not too bad a price on the flights from the sounds of it. Were doing BA to Barcelona but only from London as we live in the UK.
We too are flying BA from London to Barcelona. In fact we're flying from Philly on BA also. Booked through Vayama secret saver and got both flights for 3 people for $575:cool1: It was $4100 through BA's website. I don't know how Vayama can do it.

I know what you mean .... it was :scared1::scared1::scared1: enough just reading about the exploits let alone actually being there.:rotfl:

Welcome back Eric (and Jason) ..... great to see you posting again! Sounds like you have had crazy busy lives just recently. Good luck with your cheer competitions this year. :wizard::wizard:

I can't remember now whether I emailed for lanyards on the original address but I will put our details on the website to be sure. :goodvibes

Glad to see you back

pirate:

9/15. Spending 2 nights in Barcelona pre-cruise. We also booked direct with usairways.com.

We actually looked into the cost if we booked just the PHL-BCN leg and just drove up from VA, but it was actually cheaper for us to book the connecting flight out of DCA. Oh well, at least we'll have a quicker return after the cruise!
Yes it look like we are on the same flight.

:
Another excellent flight price ( definitely should have waited ) and :woohoo:
more DISers at the Praktik Rambla ..... I didn't realise it was such a big hotel !!!

Actually we are staying at the Praktik Barcelona, not the Praktik Rambla. There owned buy the same people and six blocks apart

What airport are you leaving from? I have been watching as well, but the lowest I have seen is $1400. I have to admit I have not checked since Monday because my grandmother passed away and I have been busy helping my mother with all the arrangements.

Donna
Yeah, up until about a week ago all I found was over $1400... that's why we were going to pay the deviation fee/etc. with Disney.. .but then VOILA- suddenly all the less expensive flights showed up. Fortunately. :)

I'm so happy!
We're happy as long as the flight happens, isn't terribly delayed or anything like that. We know we'll be cramped and we don't even care if we have tv backs and all that. Just get us THERE and we're fine. LOL :)

Well, you get in at 8 am, but you still have to get off the plane pick up your luggage and get thru customs. You also still have the travel time to the hotel, so you are really looking at being at the hotel maybe 2 to 2.5 hr later? (I don't know how long it takes to do those things in Barcelona. It took a good 40 min just to get our luggage at Heathrow and we got in late to boot.)
So you are really looking at a 4 hour gap before a 2 pm check-in.

When we went to London, we just left our luggage at the Bell Hop. It was a very good hotel, and we knew that it would be secure.

For an apartment.... Here are some ideas off the top of my head.

1. Just pay for the early check-in. Even if you have to pay for another whole day, you are still ahead financially.

2. Turn the transfer into a tour of Barcelona so you get an overview of what the area looks like!
thanks for all the help/advice.
I'm going to check about early check in- because otherwise no matter what we do we'll have to carry our luggage everywhere with us. It's not like a hotel where you can check your luggage and roam Barcelona during the day until check in time- since it's an apt. Yanno?

We're gonna have to get euros somewhere anyway- to pay for the apt when we check in. LOL

I figure by the time we get luggage and get through customs, it could be 10am or so. We're planning on taking the hotel shuttle to our hotel (by the airport), checking in if we can, checking luggage at least if we can't, getting lunch and then wandering around until it's late enough for an early dinner or until we're ready to pass out. We're not currently planning any must do items for Thursday, since we're using that day mainly to acclimate to the time shift. Who knows how the little ones will do with the change.
For us it's different with the apt, unfortunately it's not the same as a hotel where you can check your luggage in and then go do stuff to wait for check in time. We hadn't planned anything for our first day there either.... we'll have to figure out something. I surely do not want to go sightseeing with all our luggage- that's all I know. LOL

We are at the Praktik Rambla now... if its rubbish I'm blaming you all :rotfl:

Are all 3 adults?
I can tell you that when we originally were looking at Praktik that I emailed them about this (and they emailed back very promptly) and they said that there would be a free extra bed or cot for a 3rd person that is under age 12.

Hmmm - yes all 3 are adults and in the emails (to two different staff) no one mentioned about an age restriction on the 3rd person. They told me to book a double and ask for the 3rd bed in the "comments" - I put there that we are 3 adults so if its an issue, we can switch to a single and a double room I guess. I'll see what they come back with - I'm guessing I'll hear from them shortly about it if they can't accommodate 3 adults in the same room.
