There is a pub opposite Marks in a little like courtyard bit that served guiness and it was the British stuff not American like on the boat (sorry it doesn't taste the same)! They also served Magners from what I understand.

Ohhh! My DH will thank you for that information about the pub.

I didn't know that the boat served Guiness. Was it on tap? If they have it on tap, I wonder if when the boat is in Europe will they still have "American" Guiness or will it be the good stuff?

My DD1 likes the Strongbow Cider, haven't gotten about to trying that yet. Is Magners about the same?

How far is it back to the boat from the pub? :rotfl:

My DH has done two beer tastings on the Magic, both on the same cruise. Each tasting they served different beers. He enjoyed it and said it was well worth the $12.

If you want to try something different try a Boddingtons. It's a dark ale and not as gassy as lager.

I think there is a big difference in Ciders. Some are sweet (the pear cider you get here in the states is too sweet) and some are more dry. There is a brand they carry in Safeway (Hornsby's) that I can't stand. I tend to lean to the sweeter than drier side.

Cider - now you have my attention. Granted I would prefer Strongbow or Scrumpy Jack. Cider is not that popular in the states, but getting there. Trader Joe's carries some that is pretty good (Newton's) or I go to BevMo for Woodchuck.

So, I don't care for Guiness (sorry), like some ciders, have become more of a wine drinker - which pulled me into this thread. I love the 5cent sale that BevMo runs!!! I was out at Chevron (San Fran area) and had to brind a case of wine home with me. Luckily that was before luggage surcharges... I wish they would ship to GA... Needless to say I am looking forward to getting some different wines while traveling...

LOL I know what you mean. The food in the normal restaurant is so nice I don't think it really matters. I'm more excited about lunch in Lumieres (is it that or Tritons on here? I can never remember!). Love their sit down lunches!

Ooh, Lunch is good too, I was wondering whether it was just the buffet at Topsiders for lunch, So there is a sit down option too. I think we may need to take elastic waist pants! :rotfl:

Me too , and the breakfats, our first cruise , I ever even knew you could do this!

OhNo, and good breakfast! Note to self - Lose and extra 5kg's, so I can gain it back on the cruise! :rotfl:

Sounds like a lot of people are interested in lunches at Lumieres. Should we just set a time for lunch for all the sea days and people that are interested should show up then?

Or should we just make it one or two of the days?

I think this may be an easy option for people with kids, If the kids are settled in kids club then come, If not then nobody loses or has to pay.

You guys are really starting to excite me! Being our first cruise I'm not too excited...More excited about shopping when we get to America! But, all your excitement is definately rubbing off on me! :yay::yay::yay:

I wa thinking, maybe we could bring some scottish and polish beer so our dis buddies can have a taste????
Su, I also enjoy wine only, Len likes cider, pear, yuk, the sweeter the better for him!

He mostly like lager-style beer .... but likes to try anything really. That would be really nice. Does Len drink beer or just cider ... we will have to find something Welsh for him to try too. I would spend the vouchers before the cruise Lynne ... you might not have time to go into M&S in Gib ... not if we are all in the pub :rotfl:

I mainly drink wine too, but am a bit partial to a fruity cocktail or two :cloud9:
and in the summer I like budweiser, kronenbourg 1664 or pironi beers.

What a good idea. You could buy wine there and take in on board.

Personally, I lean to the beer side of the beverages. There is nothing like a cold Barq's or A & W. Both being a dark colouring and sweat tasting. :drinking1 But then again they both belong to the family of Root Beers. :rolleyes1

Neither of us consume anything in the alcohol family. :) I tend to be the getaway driver on team nights out. :)

Delta raised their domestic baggage fees last week. Continental matched the raise today. Increase on Continental of $5 per bag, increase on Delta $8 on first bag and $7 on second.

Here are the new prices:

1st bag-- $23 booked in advance or $25 at airport (up to 50#)

2nd bag-- $32 booked in advance or $35 at airport (50#)

3rd bag-- $100 (up to 50#) (better watch the souvenir purchases) :scared1:

They didn't raise the rate on the third bag. I just put it in there to remind myself when I am shopping on the cruise!

You Canadians must get a different kind of root beer!:rotfl:

Well, on our first cruise I seemed to lead the charge on the cruise meet boards some days, with this cruise? I can barely keep up with you folks!

I've given up on reading all I miss every time I come here but you do seem to be a happy bunch.

Will say it feels really weird to be planning without the kids along this time. maybe that's part of it.

I'll be on again if I ever find decent airfare to rejoice in having that done.

Think todays big news is finally got my siggie to show this cruise logo.

Have a great week everyone.

Gibraltar-- Excited to hear about the Marks & Spencer and Tesco. I loved wandering the grocery aisles while we were in London. I know, I'm strange:laughing:
.

Strange??? Nah - thats normal... well at least for us. I try to get to a supermarket wherever I go - they are so interesting. We went to the one when we were in Aruba in the main town - it was just a tiny one but cool to see what was available.

I think the best (most interesting) ones I have been in were in Peru. One we went in was really impressive with the labeling of the fruit and vege as to exactly where it was from and organic/spray free etc and the variety was enormous. Our supermarkets here could take note...

Count us in with the tea totalers as well except we don't drink tea either. . .

Well. . . just come visit us in the coffee bar!:)

We are non-drinkers too but you'll find us shoving the kids out of the way at the soft drink fountains :rotfl2:

I rarely drink it at home but tend to drink a lot on holiday.
