Ohhh!

I checked Luft (they do connections with Jetblue,) a couple of months back and it wasn't encouraging, but your findings are very encouraging.

Thanks!

PS.

Get this, the default for Lufthansa.com is US resident, resulting in a fare of $591.00 USD. But if I am honest can indicate Canadian resident, the fare for the same flight is $2748.00 CAD. WHAT!!!!! Seems that Canadians can not benefit from the saver economy fares.

WHAT!!??? That is absurd! :sick::sad2::mad:

What is anyones thought process on booking a round trip ticket and only using the EB portion?

I saw the Air Berlin flight (one way) for $430 ish. I have been tracking the Aer Lingus, which were at around $500 (one way) for the week we are looking at, last year. But they have not gone below $645 ish yet (including $30 fuel surcharge.)

Then when checking round trip fares, Iberia has a RT with a non-stop to BCN on the 16th of September out of JFK for $703.00. The EB trip is just 8hrs, I would arrive in BCN at 9am and get to my hotel just before noon. How much trouble is there if you don't show up for the return flight?

Pj

I am concered about this as well. I have done it in the states without any issues, but now with the elevated security I wonder if they will allow it.

Singapore Air also seems to have some decent one way fares.

Their route doesn't work for me. (they only fly to Moscow from Houston!)

But they do have decent Canadian prices. You can get from YYZ to Frankfurt for $652 Canadian. BUT you do have to figure a cheap way to get to BCN. Sorry pj:headache:

So far on the check for cheap one way flights we have Air Lingus, Lufthansa, and Singapore Air. Any one else?

BTW, on all these lower cost one way fares, you have to go directly to the airlines websites.

Look into Aer Lingus for one-way flights also. I've used them for 3 transatlantics, including the 2007 Disney WBTA for around $500 for IAD to Barcelona. I used them again in November for the Celebrity Equinox TA, and the price was only $372 pp from JFK to Rome!

In October, we met some people on a cruise who regularly sail on Transatlantics. They spoke very highly of one-way flights on Aer Lingus.

:scared1: Oh no our dollar has crashed. That exchange rate didn't just fall into the basement it went right through the fundation and is still heading the earths molten core. I hope it goes back up by the time we make PIF for the cruise. by my calculations it will be somewhere around $17971.:scared1:

Oh wait a minute, I just checked MSN. The dollar isn't that low. Maybe they have a hard time with :teacher:

We are still holding off on flights, waiting for price adjustments. But, we are flying into the UK before Barcelona. It's nice to see people getting flights, just putting us all that much closer to the big day.:dance3:

Have you looked at http://www.airtransat.ca/en/Home.aspx

We are thinking of getting home via Toronto.

Sarah, welcome back, may the new year be less stressful.

Flights, I haven't flown from YYZ (Toronto) since 2000. Too many taxes, too many restrictions and the prices are crazy to/from MCO. I have flights from BUF to JFK and MCO to BUF booked, right now. Aer Lingus has been my preferred airline for searching, so I will keep patient and wait out a price drop.

We have been watching these flights. Our plans are to fly out of Toronto to Manchester the week before the cruise. Right now flights are sitting at 610/person. Our TA told us to hold off until the end of January to purchase tickets. Her experience has been that at the 8-9 month time frame prices are the lowest. Right now they are offering the same flight for 360/person for the end of June. It's a direct flight and lowest we have been able to find for our plan.

Hey everyone! Haven't been on in awhile!!! Sorry...

Sarah- sorry about your grandad....hope 2010 is a wonderful year for you and your family!

As for flights, we are still looking as well. There are 5 of us, so we really need to cut corners. We dont plan to fly out too much in advance, just a day or two as DH cant get off work too many extra days. I am concerned flying with two kids so young, so any tips or airline suggestions would be great!

Hope everyone had a great holiday and is enjoying 2010 so far!:goodvibes

Sarah, I hope everything is OK with you. It's hard to handle these type of things during the holidays and hope you get back into the swing of things soon.

Hi there, we have 2 girls, aged 7 and 8, they have travelled alot since they were 3 and 4. The biggest tip i have is to order a children's meal on the plane, it comes out first, before everyone else's meals. Then you can get them fed, remove thier tray and get them organised with a movie or colouring-in and eat your meal in peace. Also, make sure you have a drink or sweets to suck on landing. Good Luck!

Thanks Lynne! We're all doing OK at the moment. Dad goes back to work tomorrow for the first time so well see how it goes
