Maybe I'llget that super fantastic upgrade as my name also starts with a K...

As for hobbies I like indoor activities like board games, video games, and RPG's. I have been considering taking up paintball. My brother plays and he seems to enjoy it.

Are we running out of ideas for the Monday questions:confused3

How about an easy one. When you aren't at work to pay for Disney related activities, surfing the internet for Disney related sites, thinking about Disney, looking at your food and comparing it to DCL food, what do you do? In, short what do people do for non disney related hobbies?

I do handwork (crochet, knit, latch hook rugs, etc). Don't know if it's a hobby but I also set up the slide show for our church each week.

As a family we used to camp all the time. That would not be "camping" with an RV, but pitch the tent, carry water to site camping. Since the "kids" are older now (and moving out of the house) we just like to travel.

:cutie:

Maybe it was sent to those who booked on board. We got the letter too, and we booked on board in September.

Nope, we did not book onboard. Can't figure out what the formula was. :confused3

That is the way we camped until 2 years ago. We had moved from sleeping on the ground to an air mattress and then for the last couple of years we had cots in our tent since we were getting older and fatter and had trouble getting up off the ground!! :rotfl::rotfl2::sad2: Now, we don't consider it camping so much as traveling with our own bedroom and kitchen along for the ride. I really, really love having my kitchen and my own bed when we travel.

Checking back in - it has been a while (over 2 months) since I have had time to get on the DIS. End of August till last week has been busy for me at work. Not complaining as I am happy to have a job that pays well and is allowing me to take the month of September off. :)

I am spending my first Christmas in San Francisco after living here for 12 years (I usually travel back to PA to be with my family). So lots of time to get caught up and do some serious planning.
  • Still wavering on my flights I keep hoping for them to get cheaper running around $700-900 (1 stop). Also very flexible when I leave Saturday or Sunday before Labor Day or on Labor Day. (I am doing a back-to-back.)
  • Then do I just go directly to Barcelona or try to do Disneyland Paris prior (leaning toward just Barcelona given the amount of luggage I will have and the fees associated with that much luggage).
  • Then there is the hotel in Barcelona prior to departure. Looking for something in La Ramblas area but don't want to spend too much (thinking around 100 Euros).
  • Finally, working on pricing out the excursions that interest me vs. doing on my own (hopefully with some others I met on my Panama Canal Cruise) vs. for the 10-Day Med ABD add-on

I did try to catch up a little. Interesting on the OBC, will have to contact my Agent to see if I got anything for either cruise. That would sure be nice. I can't believe it is only 9 months away now after booking back in 10/08 - where has all that time gone.

Music is my hobby/sanity. I play organ, piano, percussion, sax, clarinet, bassoon, and flute. I played in marching band, symphonies, and wind ensembles throughout high school and college. In the real world it tends to be a bit harder to find ensembles to play in. I have a keyboard and have been playing some to get in the holiday mood. However, in my free time I march in a drum and bugle corps (think professional competitive marching band) here in San Francisco called the Renegades. I was in the "pit" (pitched percussion - vibes, marimba, xylophone, tympani, etc.) for many years, but last year I tried guard and hope in the next few years to learn Soprano (a Trumpet but in the Key of G rather than B-flat). In college I was in the Crossmen when they were based in Southeast PA/Delaware.

Well, there you go! Another of Dennis' hobbies. :thumbsup2 He was in Drum Corps way, way back. Velvet Knights 1965. They won CA state that year. He would love to talk corps with you!! Did I mention his has many, many interests? Always needing to add just one more guitar, one more camera, one more chess set, one more tool, one more of something!! :sad2:

Loved VK - glad to see them back again. I think I still have a 2COOLVK t-shirt from the late 80's. There are a few people in Renegades who marched in VK. Some of us just don't know when to grow up. Look forward to chatting with Dennis. My last cruise someone had a son who marched in Impulse that summer (2008 - Cymbals) and was in Santa Clara Vanguard Cadets (Snare) this past season.

DCL seems to be enforcing it's policy that no upgrade will exceed 3 cabin categories (a 12 can go to a 9, etc); in fact we were told that it is being "strictly" enforced now. Course, I'd consider that to be fantastic. However....in 23 cruises, we've only seen 2 upgrades for free and a couple more at the port for money. Don't think the upgrade fairy likes me. I don't count those where we booked a 12 and got a "non-12" inside cabin. DItto, booking a 9, getting an 8 doesn't count in my book.

We've received two upgrades for free, but don't expect that to happen anymore as DCL knows it can sell them at the port.

...... a very merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and all the very best for a safe and happy 2010. Hope you all have a wonderful time :hug::hug::hug:

( I am off to my Mum's house after work today where the internet is a bit dodgy so I probably won't get online until I get home)

Interesting since my last name starts with a "K". Maybe since I don't seem to be very lucky in getting the OBC's, I'll get a super fantastic upgrade?????:rotfl2:

Interestingly, I've been checking the website for our cruise and earlier in the week the lowest category was a 9. Checking this AM, the lowest is a 7!! Of course, things may open up once PIF is due.
Well, my surname is Zabek so I am stuffed!

Sounds like a hobby to me, when I was wee I used to do all that stuff, but Ive forgot now.

Same to you Sarah, hope it is a good christmas, will not be as difficult as last year, take care and stay safe Sarah, Lynne:hug:

My favorite hobby is photography. It is very calming for me because I mainly photograph nature and buildings.

In my eagerness to ask the question and post my answer, I forgot to answer it for my DW. (SHHH, don't tell her I forgot about her:rolleyes1) Candida's hobby is photography. She particulaly enjoys nature and wildlife.

:santa:Merry Christmas to you and everyone else in this group of misfit toys :grouphug:.

Just catching up on things. Thanks for everyones support. The funeral is going to be on the 18th so a bit of time to wait.

As for question of the week - well I do cross stitch and also spend way to much time playing video games these days! Also become obsessed with Treasure madness on facebook lol!

I'm a cat 11 also...and I'd take a 12 if offered if it would save a few bucks. I shaved $50 off my eastbound by moving from an 11gty to a 12 gty (would have been more if not booked on board.

Just to say that when the Cat 12's originally were released (I got one through inventory control but had already booked seperately) they were exactly the same price as the Cat 11 - $999 per adult. Whether theyll released them cheaper or not I don't know.

Still no news on OBC!

Merry Christmas everyone hope you all have a fantastic holiday however you celebrate it and Ill be back on soon!

Dropping in to wish everyone a Merry Christmas. :santa:
