I love Nemo, but the theatre needs softer seats, lol.

Welcome aboard, figment!! :sunny:

OK....so I will throw out a question of the week for this week's amusement:

What is/are your favorite NON-BROADWAY Disney stage show(s)? So the Broadway versions of AIDA, Beauty & the Beast, Little Mermaid, Lion King, Tarzan and Mary Poppins don't count....but you can pick shows from any of the parks worldwide or the ships!!

My/our favorite CURRENT shows are:
"Festival of the Lion King" @ Animal Kingdom
"Finding Nemo: The Musical" @ Animal Kingdom
and "Twice Charmed" aboard the Magic

Just as a note, our least favorite shows:
"Mickey Dreams" which they did as a special show on the TA, too. (And I heard a rumor they tried to do it on the most recent PC cruisings, too, but they only did it in one direction because it wasn't very popular)
"Hercules: the Muse-ical" which used to run on the Wonder. I never really got into that show and wasn't sorry to hear that it is gone now...but we are very much looking forward to seeing the new "Toy Story" show that's on the Wonder now when we sail in May!

My favorite in-park show is Festival of the Lion King. I've seen it several times, and once there were sign-language translators, a man and a woman, and it was beautiful the way they acted out the words and lyrics as they were translating them. I couldn't take my eyes off of them to watch the actual show!

My second favorite show is Beauty and the Beast.

Favorite DCL show is Twice Charmed. (I didn't care for Hercules the Muse-ical, I was glad when they removed it).

Well I called my travel agent back today and added DCL air ($900 per person) and the pre-cruise hotel (the AB Skipper), plus transfers, onto our booking. Part of me thinks that I should just keep this booking and leave EVERYTHING to Disney, while another part of me knows that once air schedules and rates are released this fall, I'll be calculating and planning, just to see the alternatives. I really just don't like the idea of not knowing flight schedules or seat assignments until a month before the trip.

Also, since it seems that AerLingus currently is offering the best rates to Barcelona (from Boston, with a stop over in Dublin), hopefully they'll still be offering the best flights/fares, so there's a good chance that we'll plan a day or two in Ireland before continuing on to Barcelona. We've always wanted to visit Ireland and this could be the perfect opportunity :scratchin

The good thing is that we still have months to take everything into consideration before flight schedules are released, and before any find decisions need to be made about that. :hourglass

Seaspray- I'm glad you have everything booked for now, knowing you can always change things. At least you have all you need if you decide to keep it with the hotel, transfers, and air. I don't think the air's a bad price either considering there are so many transfers included. I'm glad you had a choice of hotels too- the Le Meredien was about $600 a night when I priced it- yikes!---Kathy

Thanks Kathy :) Yes, there is a lot to be said for having "everything booked". ::yes:: I didn't have a choice of hotel though; that was the only one available ($586. for the 1 night). I checked out the hotel's web site online and it looks pretty nice. It looks like it's very close to the port, too.

Good Morning Everyone!:coffee:

Happy New Year! I wish everyone a healthy and happy one.

I haven't been on the boards lately. Like most, the holidays just take time away.

I had knee surgery in December, going thru physical therapy 3 times a week, going home to NY the first weekend in January for my nephew Daniel's Boy Scouts' Court of honor, he is officially an Eagle Scout at the age of 15! I am so proud of him and his ceremony (he planned it all by himself) was so solemn.
i flew home on the 2nd of of January, when I woke up on Saturday there was 6 inches of snow on the ground, Sunday we had a ice. There was a plane that slid off the runway Sunday night. When I left on Monday they had to de-ice the plane twice.

Got home safe Monday night. Unpacked my winter clothes and packed my warmer weather clothes for my trip to WDW. I should have kept some of my warmer clothes with me. The weather was colder then usual down there but
not even that was going to deter my trip to spend my birthday with Mickey!
I was treated like royalty on my birthday! The crowds quieted down after the marathon so there was no wait for the rides. It was great spending two weeks down there.

Now back to realty! Have to get back to work so I can pay the balance on the cruise.

Once again HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!! to everyone.

Karen

Goodness you have been busy! It sounds like you made the very best of a chilly WDW trip--good for you:thumbsup2

Finally, I caught up!
I didn't get a chance to read the boards before the holidays and 2 weeks ago I started reading through the posts. 104 pages into the new thread! You folks (Sarah) sure know how to gab! Keep it up:thumbsup2

Favorite character: Pluto
Favorite Book: All of the Star Trek TNG books ( sorry, but I'm a bit of a geek)
Favorite Show: Tarzan Rocks was great! Still haven't seen Nemo

Hmmm--we'll have to try the TNG books. We are all fans of the series (total geek family:upsidedow )--that just might be something my little guy would like to read (thus far only the Disney after Dark and Disney at Dawn have fully kept his attention in the novel department).

Hmmmm.... Disney Shows...

I have to admitt... I do the rides more then the shows. I think the last show I saw was Fantasmic back in 2000 at DL.
Havent seen anything at AK.. everytime we go there we get RAINED out.:rotfl:

Ann:wave2:

PS... new book Im reading is "The Paddler's Guide to Outrigger Canoeing " by Steve West
I need all the help I can get for steering a 45' canoe...from the back seat :)

What did you have done to your knee? I had my ACL reconstructed 2 weeks ago so I'm doing PT 3 times a week too!

As far as the QOTW:

Me - Cinderella's Surprise Celebration when it used to be at MK.
Dream Along With Mickey - MK
Festival of the Lion King - DAK
Twice Charmed

DF - Hoop-Dee-Doo-Review

Hope everybody is doing well! :)

I had meniscus tears. The next step if this doesn't work is knee replacement. I am not looking forward to that.

My Favorite - Cinderella - BTW when I went to the Grand Floridian for lunch last week they had the coach out with the horses riding around the resort. I was able to take some pictures.

I like Mickey's Philharmagic and of course Spectromagic and the fireworks.

Terry -

Remember me, Karen, Doreen's sister. Are you going on the WB REPO?
I am going solo. Daniel starts school the Wednesday after Labor Day and he will not miss school. It was nice to see you on the boards.

Karen

Im am not into shows, I have the attention span of a tadpole!!!!

But I liked the Golden mickeys.

If you have sound on your comp, listen and watch this clip, Len jumped of his sledge as it went over the mountain, Mum and I go from terrified as it just missed someones head to uncontrolable laughing then when it went off piste for about 6 miles down the hill!!

OHHH Ill watch this tonight at home!

Do you like how I worded the question with the door open for people to have multiple answers? I'd like to say that I did that for everyone's benefit....but it was mostly selfish because I know I can't name just one! :lmao:

OK well Dan's is easy. He likes Finding Nemo but then again its the only show he's seen (I know we were in Disney for 2 weeks and only managed 1 show but hey we were ill!)

Mine well I have lots so in no real order
  • Finding Nemo
  • Tarzan Rocks - which I so totally miss even though I think Nemos fab (Nemo shouldn't be where it is though it should be at the Living Seas in EPCOT and Tarzan rocks should come back)
  • The Hunchback of Notre Damn show from MGM - I loved the bit with the puppets at the beginning!
  • Twice Charmed off the Disney Cruiseline - The music is fantastic and I love it!
  • Hercules off the Disney Cruiseline - Loved the music and the show, especially the male Muse
  • null
Now I'm sure I've missed one but can't think of it right now!

Karen

Hi Karen! Of course I remember you!!! John and I just booked this cruise a week ago and we're really looking forward to it. It'll be so great to see some old friends onboard like you, Bev, and Bev's DD. :grouphug: Also looking forward to meeting new friends too. :sunny:

I can understand Daniel not wanting to miss school, that's how Craig and Robby felt too. Craig graduated in 2006 (same year as Jaclyn) and Robby will be graduating this year. Robby will be starting his sophomore year of college in Sept 2010, so it'll be just John and I on the cruise. We'll be celebrating our 10th anniversary.

Are you linked with anyone in regards to dining? Let me know if you'd like to link our reservations, I think we made pretty good tablemates in 2006!

Hey everyone...I had a funny dream last night about this cruise, and when I woke up one thing that I remembered was that I was telling people that this was a "Mediterribbean" cruise! Mediterranean + Caribbean! LOL :lmao: :beach:

Oh I absolutely LOVE that!!! How creative!!!

Hmm....don't be surprised if the word "Mediterribbean" finds its way, even as an inside joke, onto the lanyards or name badges....or even onto a Tshirt! :thumbsup2

we should hop over onto the EASTbound thread and tell them that they're doing a "Caribberranean" cruise! lol

It would be great to be linked together for dinner.:grouphug: WOW 10th Wedding Anniversary!!!! Congrats!

I am leaving on the 16th at night and arriving in Barcelona on the morning of the 17th. What hotel are you staying at? I just checked my hotel and we are staying at the same, AB Skipper. I have heard a lot of good things abut this hotel. I just can't get over the price. I am letting Disney handle everything for me on this trip. I just want to relax!!!!

Oh decisions, decisions! We had originally planned to do our vow renewal on this cruise. Well, I should say that me had most recently planned this. The original plan was to have it for or 10th anniversary at Crystal Cathedral in California, but then DVC happened and two cruises happened and we put those plans on hold and decided to have a vow renewal on the Magic instead.

Fast forward and I am getting some extra annual leave as of next month due to long service and we had a look at the one way airfares (working for an airline has its advantages as I can check the fare structures for any significant airline about two years in advance) and going one way non stop is more than twice as expensive as a twelve month return ticket of we want to fly direct. So we are now seriously considering doing both transatlantic cruises. This would mean to postpone our vow renewal yet again. The plus side is that we will spend nearly a month on my favourite ship in 2010 and I am sure we will have many more wonderful and magical memories from a 14 night cruise rather than a 30 minute ceremony. We have enough DVC points to pay for one of us with points. So I have to find out what the cash rate is through DVC.

Sarah, I think you did both cruises last time round? Would you recommend doing both or were you bored during the Westbound at you had done a lot of the ports and activities on the Eastbound? Was there any issue with immigration on arrival in the USA?

Can't wait to her Sarah's reply on this.....'cause I'm still noodling around with this option. It would take up all my vacation days (and I always like having one or two just lying around), but you sure get a lot of Disney Bang For Your Buck! :thumbsup2

I would be in the same position as to vacation days. I suppose I get to lieu days in May to be used between May and August and 1 in August to be used between August and November. I normally much more careful with my vacation time, but this means nearly a month on the Magic in two installments.

Corinna

Oh Jason LOVES the Star Trek Next Generation and Voyager series of books. I can almost guarantee he'll have at least one with him on this cruise!

At least in the Voyager books you don't have to hear Janeway:rotfl2: I'll definitely have a Trek book or two of some type with me.

I didn't even think of Philharmagic, I love that show! I always thought of it as a ride:confused3
