OH MY!!!! :yay: :woohoo: Dennis and I are SO happy to hear we will be sailing with you again!! :dance3: :cloud9: :grouphug:

Can't wait!!!:yay: :yay: :yay:

Hi folks! You all are an active bunch! I booked this cruise while we were on the Magic Christmas cruise. I didn't expect to find the first thread closed and 80 pages of a second thread for this cruise meet.

Let me introduce myself...I'm Laurie and I'm travelling with DH Gregg. We have taken 5 DCL cruises with one more booked before this cruise (NYE 09) and one after (Thanksgiving - need to get in all of the major holidays; yes we have already done Easter). I wanted to take the canal cruise but couldn't talk DH into it. I think he felt bad (or maybe he thought I was crazy) when I spent our entire day off watching the Magic go through the canal. We were trying to decide what to do for our 25th wedding anniversary which is this year so I batted my eyelashes as asked so nicely to have this cruise as a late anniversary celebration. :cutie: And it worked....once DH heard the price. I didn't tell him the airfare would cost as much as the cruise. But we'll save that part for later

Now we just have to work on getting someone to watch the kids for two weeks. They will be 14 and 16, both girls. I need to find a really good bribe. WHo the heck wants to watch two teenage girls???!!! No one in their right mind. Their mine and I don't want to be with them for 2 weeks straight  I need to start saving a stash for a night time nanny to watch the kids just in case.

I look forward to getting to know all of you in the next year plus.

Hi, we're new too!!!

HI Marilyn and John and welcome aboard - great to have you sailing with us! We also have to overcome the airfare issue! The flight to Barcelona should be straightforward but booking the flight home is looking like a potential headache! I know we haven't cruised together before but I am sure I have chatted to you on threads before now so it will be great to meet you both in person! (I have a feeling I sent you a DCL planning CD once when I was sending it out to different people in the UK - but I am easily confused so it could have been someone completely different!)

Thanks, you do sound familiar. I believe you did send us a dvd - thanks!!!!! Yes, the airfares.:scared1: :scared1: :scared1: Why can't they do sensible one way fares?

HI Laurie and Gregg and welcome aboard! :goodvibes

We are also leaving our kids behind for this cruise - DD will be 19 and in college, our 2 stepkids will also be in college and the only DS left at home will be 16 and doesn't really want to come on a cruise just with his boring parents - so he will stay with family or friends. It will be strange being just the 2 of us after so many holidays with the 2 kids and the 2 stepkids - but it should also be much more relaxing! I do feel a teeny bit guilty though and no doubt I will also need to arrange an additional family holiday for 2010 to keep them all sweet!

Glad to see you back , you were in Vegas and you didnt even drop me a line ??? :rolleyes1 LOL the plank I say ... By the way are you coming to the Disneyland March Meet on the 14th ??? Please let me know

pirate:

Glad you made it back safely Laura.....Looks like you had lots of fun. Talk to you soon I am sure!! :goodvibes

I am still planning on going to the Disneyland Meet....got it on my list of things to do today.....:)

Pam , How many should I put you down as ?? Im trying to get a headcount so when I make the reservation over at RainForest Cafe ... Do you know if Laura is coming ??

pirate:

All Right, All Right, I was  to call you as I know that NYE is special for you.....PLUS - figured you might be partying with friends!! (I remember your pictures last year) I wanted to call you but my In-laws ended up spending 7 days with us instead of 3 and that took up a lot of time. I promise, next time I will. I was hesitant to call but next time I'll bug you so I won't walk the plank! Scouts Honor!!! (OK OK - girl scouts honor!) :teeth:

Anyway, please count on 3 for us plus Pam - Steve, Laura, April and Pam - so make that 4. LOL - Sorry Pam! I can't forget you. What are the dates again?

Pam - sent you an e-mail. Let me know the dates as I've been off the DIS for quite a while and may not be back on for a while again.

:woohoo: :woohoo: my memory must be better than I thought!

I was relying on using airmiles for the flight home but I am now under the impression that you can't book one way flights with airmiles (although I will call them to make sure) and if you book a return flight and don't turn up for the outbound flight, the return flight is automatically cancelled. Not that I wouldn't mind being stuck in Florida forever but the kids and my employer might have something to say!

Laura,
Thanks for sharing your pictures from DWTS...it must be neat to see them perform in person!

Yeah! Max was scrumpticious - plus that bad boy attitude! ;)

Hi. We have today cancelled our 2010 Baltic cruise and transferred to this one instead. Hope we can overcome the airfare issue.

We know some of you, having been on the WB Panama Canal cruise last May.

Just me Marilyn and my husband John.

:wave2: Marilyn and John - I sailed with your all on the May cruise. Hope to catch up with you again on this one.

BA fly to Barcelona, and then back from Orlando to London, but I don't believe you can book that as a round trip fare.

I sent an email about it and they said we could, but I am doubting it!!! That would surely be fantastic if we could.

Marilyn and Sarah,

Have either of you flown with AirLingus? If is what was the service like? Right now, using '09 dates, they have what seems like reasonable rates. They fly from Orlando to Heathrow, Gatewick, Manchester or Brimingham, on Tuesday/Thursday and Saturdays. All go via Dublin then branch off.

No I haven't flown AerLingus. I believe they do offer reasonable one way fares so might be worth looking at.

Welcome on board!!!

I know that looking at air fare so far (I live near Phila), it looks like AerLingus has decent airfare out of JFK. Hopefully that will hold true through 2010! I'm figuring that we will either hire a car to take us to JFK or beg a relative :rolleyes1 . We'll end up flying from MCO to PHL so it will be easier for someone to pick us up.

Here is the thread! This person is amazing for putting this all together!!!

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1683477

Thanks Brooklyn! It's making me hungry!

Ok, I just spent the last 3 hours or so updating the roll call page. I Made it larger and put the pictures 3 across. Basically everyones picture got a little larger and the page itself is larger. I had to do this to fit all of our new people and to create room for all those to come!!!

I have decided I am going to make the website larger for all of the pages. That however is not going to be able to be done overnight! I will work on it over the next few days.

Ok back to work on the site.....:surfweb:

Website looks cool

I know last time we couldn't get it to book as one flight but maybe they can through their call centre or something

Welcome aboard!

You can find airfare at a reasonable price out of Washington DC or Philly - as of right now we're planning on making the trip to JFK (3+ hours away) because the rates are so much cheaper than getting a puddle jumper from Albany (1 hour away). Also look into AerLingus - they seem to have some of the cheapest airfare out there - I've been checking them regularly as well as the other carrier's and they always come out less.

We flew AerLingus JFK to Barcelona (via Dublin) for the WBTA in 8/07. The rates couldn't be beat, and the transatlantic flight was great. Large comfortable seats, each with it's own TV to watch TV shows, free movies, play games, there was a decent hot meal plus the usual snacks and drinks and the service was friendly. The flight from Dublin to BCN was on a smaller plane, and was just OK.

We are hoping to fly them again for this trip.

Another airline to watch as we get closer is SwissAir. We flew them for the last TA and the rates were wonderful ($340 pp Barcelone to Boston). We were very happy with the service and flights (also TVs with movies and gamews for all, good food, special backpacks full of games delivered to the kids, etc.)
With all of us sharing information as we get closer I am sure we will do okay on flights:goodvibes

That is a great fare! We will def have to keep a watch out on that one!

I would love to have really comfortable seats for the flight and I really need some kind of foot rest to help ease the pain that I get in my knees. In '07 we flew Delta and went Businees class from Barcelona to Atlanta. That was amazing, but I doubt we will ever be able to do that again...sigh:cloud9:

We will be leaving from San Antonio, so good flights are hard to come by. We will probably have to fly to a major hub on Southwest and then get a decent flight from there to Barcelona.:confused3
