I wish I had known this. We could have met up to say "hi" and have some coffee or something. Did you go on Saturday or Sunday? I think we really need to think about a UK/ European DIS Meet at some stage. I t would be great to put some faces to names before the cruise.
Corinna

Corinna - we went on Sunday. It was a shame that Disney wasn't there. It seems that there were lots of bookings being taken on all the stands. We stayed for the talk about the Aurora Borialis (SP) and then we left.

I know what you mean Angie accept we have been a year in our RV. In June when we get home its Extra soft Charmin in every bathroom!!:lmao:

Hope you and Dennis are doing good. I guess we have a mutual friend. Deborah (SCOTTISHWEE35) from Scotland mentioned she knows you when she heard we were on this cruise. We have been chatting for about 3 years now, but never met in person yet.

Have a great week everyone,

Kathy

Deborah is a very dear person....and lots of fun! :woohoo:

Close , but if you be a true pirate you "TAKE WHAT YOU CAN !!!!"

:lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

pirate:

Give nothing back!!

Great day huh !!! We're just over the river, so we're a bit hotter and the pollin count is off the charts!:scared1:

Here's something...

About 3 weeks ago I called DCL to set our anniversary celebration. Great... the 2nd day at sea, it would be Tuesday. No big deal. A few days later, I got a typical DCL mail envelope. I was busy with the show, and set it aside.
Well... today I finally opened it up. Had to read it 3 or 4 times. Then called DCL, our new room
is a Cat4 cabin 8572.:cool1:
They gave me no reason that we were up-grated ... but we are!!!:woohoo: Anyone else up graded this early??? (This is really weird)

Ann :rolleyes1

Congrats!! :dance3:

Apparently DH has decided to be an environmental pirate :lmao:

Congratulations on the upgrade. :thumbsup2

Sarah, I spotted staff rates for this cruise for the first time yesterday, but they seem to be very high and not competitive at the moment. I think we are actually paying less having booked directly with DCL on the first possible day then what they want as staff rates.

Our next big vacation is coming together nicely. The flights are now booked, the post cruise stay is sorted so we just need to sort out the pre-cruise stay. We are also seriously considering a short (5 night) cruise around the British Isles in May with NCL. Part of me thinks 5 nights is so short, but our two DCL cruises were 5 nights and 4 nights respectively.

Corinna

I agree we should do a European/Brit meet. Let my parents know about the staff rates so they can keep an eye out.

Nice Upgrade Ann!!! I know you will enjoy that!:cool1::cool1:

We talked to our friend last night that works at the Animal Kingdom Lodge and he got axed due to layoffs. It was very sad. He has been with Disney for over 20 years!

By the way, I didn't forget about Dan and the motorcycle. Hope all is well with both!

Thanks! He is a lot better (back in work now too) and his bike just has cosmetic damage so hes going to do the work himself and sort it out!

Layoffs at Disney :scared1: Just didn't expect it. Thought theyd cut down on hours but not go that far. It's sad

Thanks... I guess Im stil abit afraid of ??? upgraded this soon.
Talking to the CM... once you have your Cat upgrade, they cant make you go to your orginal one. Sortta makes scence... like all the GTY's. You pay the price for a 7 and get a 5 upgrade. Just luck.

We were in cat 6...#5128.

Besides the pollin, the wind is horrible... cancelled paddling for the past 3 weeks.:scared1:
Tomorrow off to Phoenix.. see the Chihuly expo at the botanical garden. I have waited for weeks for this one.

Hope Dan is doing better then the bike!:grouphug:

Ann:flower3:

Yeah he is! Meant to be fixing the bike tonight so fingers crossed no more bumps!

Well done on the great upgrade! Congrats!

Hello to all. Hope everyone is having a nice day. The weather out there looks fantastic! Wish I wasn't in work lol

Congrats on the upgrade. We're hoping for news like that.

Hi everyone, my name is Terry. My very best friend Stephanie (Steffy on the DIS) and I are booked on this cruise!!!!!!! We are so excited... :yay::banana: We will both celebrate our 60th birthday while on this cruise. We have known each other for over 20 years. We now work together,,so we talk about our trips when we go to lunch. :chat:
My first cruise was way back in 1987 on the NCL on the Norway. It was a big band cruise so DH and I were able to see Tony Bennett and Ruby Keeler from the ogiginal 42nd Street. Stephanie has been on a few cruises just not sure of how many exactly but I know at least two of them were Disney.

Then while reading some trip reports from folks that went on the cruise for Mouse Fest 2007, we booked our cruise for Mouse Fest Dec 2008. It looked like such fun. While at the Magic Meet last year, we met some DIS and Tagrel folks who were also booked for that cruise and I even bid on the breakfast with Deb Wills and won. :woohoo: That was the highlight of our cruise. Deb is just the nicest person and we really had a fun time. There are pictures on her blog on all ears. Since we had such fun on the cruise, we booked while onboard for Mouse Fest 2009. Even tho Mouse Fest has been cancelled, we are still going on the cruise.

I will be married 40 years this June. I met my DH just before I turned 16 on a blind date and we married three years later. I have three grown children Howie-38 married two sons. Guenna-35 married one son. Steve-30 has a girlfriend and lives near Orlando. The older two live maybe 15 minutes from DH and I.

We usually post on the DISigns DDA thread. Stephanie and I know ReAnSt (Becky) and I remember someone mentioning she knew PNO4TE (Elin). Over the past few years, some of us DDA folks have met in DC or Baltimore or in WDW. There has been up to 16 or more of us who are able to meet. We also know tink2020 (Jennifer) and are looking forward to finally meeting her and her DH and the twins. We also know Tiggertails from the Mouse Fest Cruise.

We are so looking forward to this cruise. Cannot wait!!!!!!

Tinker1bell.... WELCOME to the Cruise!!!!
Now we both know ReAnSt(Becky) and her brother Nacho(Stephen). We all did a B2B in 2007, and we continued on for 1 more week.

Yup... I guess that we did get an up-grade! :thumbsup2

We are home from Phoenix.... great show of Dale Chihuly.I wish we could have seen it tonight with all the lights. All the add pics Ive seen do not do the instilation any justice. I'll post a few when I can post a few pics asap.
"Awesome" is not even close to the right word.

Welcome Terry, glad you and Stephanie are joining us. Is this a 'girls' trip, or are you bringing along you families? I'm celebrating my 60th this year on a DCL Tortola cruise. One is never too old to celebrate birthdays with Mickey. :thumbsup2

Did you wave at me when you were in town? I STILL haven't been to see the Chihuly exhibit. My friend from Prescott (Cheri, who will be on this cruise also) saw it and would agree with you that is was awesome. I think I should head out there....like TODAY perhaps!

.

We decided to do this cruise when I was lamenting about how hard it was getting to get my kids and DH to settle on a date to go to WDW to celebrate my 60th. I will not go in July or August and each of the kids have a few things on their plates right now. My DH will not fly and I will not drive down with him having to spend over 18 or more hours. I love the guy but I can only handle 5 hours when we drive to see our friends in WV. With Stephanie, she mentioned going for Thanksgiving next year and her kids groaned, rolled their eyes and that made her decision easier too!!!
We have always traveled together down to WDW and met other DIS folks or one year two of my sisters met us there. We used to go down to Cape May every October and have gone to NY City twice.

This cruise is the kind of cruise we both have wanted to do and turning 60 next year was the deciding factor. We seem to talk more about this cruise than the one coming up in December. Too many things to decide on!!!

I sure did wave... did ya see me???:lmao:

Dh and I would love to go back on our own... again. We went as an art guild group, and had such a time limit. It takes us 3 hrs traveling time down & 3 hrs back and that makes for a rushed pic taking time. The weather should be wonderful today too!
Go Jackie GO :thumbsup2

Ann:yay:

Hi Terry and Welcome:goodvibes

Well, winter weather has setteld back in Germany with a vengence:sad2:It is cold (temps hovering right around freezing) with plenty of wind and rain to boot. Bad timing as Marika's class trip is next week. Her (male) teacehr and I are the only two adults going and there are 10 kids. We will be gone M-F and be spending (supposedly PLEASE dear teacher relent and change plans PLEASE) nearly all of Tues-Thurs out of doors. I am taking my computer but no one is sure if we will haev net access or not so I amy not be back posting until next weekend (assuming my finger do not freeze off and then I will never be able to post again!:guilty:)

So, everyone have a good week and I hope you are warmer than we are.
