Sept 17 2005 Magic - am i alone on the ship?

Emily, How scary! I'm glad you found him!!!
Lorra, We booked it on-line (e-mail) with them. There is a whole bunch of information about them on cruisecritic (ports of call) so I feel fine using them. Sometimes it takes him a little bit to get back to you.
Teaforwendy, getoutthere, jennat, missyoh8, 4kidsandadog ...I think are on first ship...KSUmom and skycon on second ship? They can have a maximum of 25. This could be wrong but it is something like this. Are the ships going at the same time or back to back...anyone? I will print out a page from their website with the price info. We should have chartered it, probably would have gotten off cheaper. Anyway, it will be a blast.
A suggestion for those who bought the hidden mickey matching clothes. What about wearing it on the Sweet Sue Suite Selebration night. AND When are we wearing the FFC shirts?

Oh yeah, we are in late seating by choice. Last year when we went, it goes so fast you don't even know it is that late so this year I hope I am not late to eat like I was last year due to getting back too late from shore excursion (swimming with dolphins in Nassau). My kids are night owls like me.

Lorra

I am sending out updated list so anyone who wants it who I don't have an e-mail for get it to me and I will shoot one your way.

Jen,
Could you e-mail me the print of the Flipfloppin' Castaways? I think you did before but it wasn't turned around if you know what I mean. I soon need to go towork.Talk later. I did e-mail Lord if they have any room. Do you give him your credit card to reserve or send a check?

Lorra

Jen, I did love the little note about Brooks....secretly so did she. :goodvibes
FFC shirts whenever is fine with me, we didn't get the hidden mickey apparel. We were going to wear that at the Sue B-day party....but when ever is fine with us also...just let me know.

Donna, I'm with you I'd just like to have a room number at this point, I check everyday..TA said I might not get that until Doc.'s. :teeth: We have late seating unless our request comes through on the early. But with my TA it probably won't happen!!! :teeth:

Emily so glad you found your doggie :dog: poor thing, I bet he was scared. Good thing you have an understanding boss!! :paw:

Well, looks like we won't be going on the Sept. 11 day cruise after all...DH and I have a lot planned for next year, plus we want to continue to redo our kitchen..so...we'll be waiting till 2007 to go again on DCL. BUMMER!!! :earboy2:
We will still rebook on board though and I'm going to request a cat 2 so 7 people can stay in one room. This two stateroom deal is a killer!!!

Oh well not to much happening here, just another day :badpc: :rotfl: of work.

Hope everyone has a good day

Just hanging around here for a bit today. Thought I'd post something since its been awhile. :)

jennat: Probably should send you a picture of me and my DW.

We'll be in stateroom 7620 on the cruise. Stateroom tour sound neat. We'd probalby be open to that. Of course, that is when we're around. Seems like there is always so much to be doing on the cruise we're hardly in our room ever.

Everyone take care and have a great day. :)

Sweet Sue Suite Selebration -- St. Thomas day/Wednesday (9/21) is great for these outfits. If for some reason Wednesday doesn't work, I vote for Monday night, but Sweet Sue night sounds good to me. I'll plan on it.

So..who has the hidden mickey outfits, I know we do and Jennat and Getoutthere do. Anyone else?

FFC shirts during the day on Sunday? DD insisted on picking out shorts to go with her FFC top and laying them out last night b/c she watched me lay out DH outfits (we shopped for him yesterday). At least she forgot her finger in the cruise excitement. princess:

Karen-KD, when did you book your cruise? I'm curious (read: obsessed) with the early seating thing now.

Lorra, we all booked Lord Sheffield on our own. They haven't required any deposit or anything. I didn't ask abt prices b/c they are listed on the website, but I figured $150 for the 3 of us. :flower1:

And speaking of Lord Sheffield, what are people doing for pirate night? I think I may just go with the bandana. pirate:

Teaforwendy, we booked originally for 9/24 DC 10/04 but switched to this cruise in Dec I think. Not sure. I just kept bugging my TA and she got me switched. I tried to go thru DCL direct but they kept telling me to submit med docs to support the need for early seating. Keep checking with TA on your seating time. I have learned if you don't do it (the screaming) noone else will do it for you. So start screaming. You can also go request early seating when you board the ship. We did this our first DC back in 2003.

I was also trying to get my Stateroom changed but did not have any luck. I would love to upgrade to a CAT 3 but was told by TA that there were not any avail. at this time. She told me to try at port so I think I will.

Gotta run and get DS from school.

KD- Karen

thanks Jen, I saw your email just pop up. ;)

It took my TA three calls over three days to get us moved to early seating. I would tell those who think the early seating is really important to urge your TA to make a pest out of themselves. I told mine I knew it could be done and that motivated her to make it happen. I am so thankful for this board so that I knew it was possible.

What is shopping like on the ship? I know at WDW you can find some cool Disney stuff that is unusual. Is this also the case with the ship? I know I got a silk Mickey vest and scarf at WDW years ago. Does anyone know if they have things like that there for those wanting ties?

I am so ready for this trip!!!!! Is anyone planning their own excursions? If so, what are you planning? I saw some people on the boards renting helicopters etc. That sounded like a lot of fun. I think we will be much more low key than that on this trip due to baby situations, but I love hearing about fun ideas!

I do think if we do an excursion on our own it would be to the Butterfly Farm on St. Martin and the Coral World on St Thomas. Would my 1 yr old enjoy those?

OK, that's about all for now! How exciting the countdown is getting!!!! :teacher:

Hi all.

Did I post today? I can't remember!

Wendy, we booked in February of this year, but as you know we WANT the late seating. Remember you have willing dinner mates if you don't make the early seating work. :)

Renee, we had originally booked the 5 star St. John Beach and Snorkel tour, but that only gives you 1.5 hours on what is supposed to be one of the top 10 beaches in teh WORLD. So, with research and persuasion, I convinced DSis to do this on our own. Now we're planning on taking the Charlotte Amelie ferry to St. John, getting there around 9:30 (45 minute ferry), and staying until 1:45 to catch the ferry back. This gives us 3 h 45 minutes, versus 1.5 with 1.5 hours getting TO SJ and 1.5 hours getting BACK to ST. I like this decision. And we're actually saving $5-6 pp, including the snorkel gear rental at the beach. We bought beach towels for this portion of the trip because we aren't sure if you have to rent beach chairsor if you can even get them. So the towels are for comfortable lounging on the pretty white sand. :)

Emily, I'm glad you found your dog. If Oliver disappeared, I'd FREAK OUT!!!! I was thinking today I'd like to stow him away. He's quite a lovable little guy, and I'd gladly submit him to be our FFC mascot. You would all love him, and what better way to keep the kids all in one place for meets than having a sweet, forever-the-size-of-a-puppy dog? :paw:

Jen, I think we said we were wearing the FFC shirts on Sunday. And what are the hidden mickey shirts you all are talking about? :confused3

I'm guessing a couple of the movies in the theater on the ship will be Sky High (I hope) and Valliant (opens this Friday). Any other guesses?

I am now up to SEVENTEEN door signs for our door! :rolleyes1  :earseek:  :confused3  ::yes:: :scratchin I like them, and DSis has been such a trooper every time I ask for her opinion (she doesn't care, personally). The FFC sign will stay up all the time every day while the others will rotate. I have a sign for Monday AM, Monday PM, Tuesday AM, Tuesday PM, etc. For CC day, however, I have created FOUR day signs and one night sign. Whew. I'm a crazy girl!

On a sad note, our great-grandma is dying. She has been in Hospice for a few months, and she asked last night if she could just go to sleep and not wake up and go home to be with the Lord. So my mom and aunt drove down today as Hospice expects her to be with us for only several more hours. DSis is pretty close to her, but she's lived a good long life and knows Christ, so we're not devastated. We will miss her and certainly do not want her in ANY pain, but it sounds like she's ready to go.

Anyways, I'm SO ready for 32 days from now! I am looking forward to meeting you all!

WE MISS YOU!!!!! In lieu of the thread that existed for a while about why some people don't participate in cruise meets threads, let me just say that we DO hope to hear from you! We don't EXPECT it, but we just want you to know, no matter if we seem clique-ish or not, that we genuinely celebrate having newcomers jump right in. I just wanted you to know we do care and remember you!
::yes::

Okay, enough for now! I'll stop back in later.

Jenny,

That sounds like a wonderful trip to St. Johns! My DD Anna would be thrilled if you brought Oliver. She just adores dogs and would probably get a bigger kick out of him than Mickey...smile!

I can't believe you have so many door signs... :rotfl:

I have never been on a cruise ship where people decorated their doors, I am really looking forward to it! I had a refridgerator magnet made that match T-Shirts I had made for the cruise, but that is about all I have thought of.

I thought about ordering some pirate stuff from oriental trading...but am on the fence about it. They have such bulk volume. If I do I may bring extra eye patches etc. to the first meet if I have room to pack it all! pirate: I saw the gold coins and have heard about people handing those out and that sounded fun...guess I better get on it if I am going to get the stuff in time. I did hear their are bandanas people use on board...does anyone know what those look like? I saw some cute ones to order, but if they are the same that would be redundant.

More on pirate night. Oriental Trading also had a couple pirate costumes for anyone who wants to go all out. It is orientaltrading.com if you have never used them and they ship very quickly!

The hidden mickey outfits are those Mickey-Tiki outfits they had awhile back on Disney Direct waaaay on sale. I'm not that crazy abt them, but DD is very excited and hopefully they will make a cute photo. Anyway...

Where the heck is Christal? We need a report on the new dress.

I'm very tempted on the St. John beach thing, but Capt. Nautica sounded good. I'll consult DH since that's our day/excursion sans DD.

This is what I got back from Lord Sheffield on pricing:

Dear Wendy,

The price should be $162 as children 12 and under are 30% off.

We accept cash (US) or travelers checks.

We look forward to meeting you and your family.

Sincerely,

Rob

Renee, you will have PLENTY of room with just the 2 of you and a little one! I never thought about using the verandah for storage. I guess that would make a good place to put the stroller as long as we don't get a lot of wind and rain.

Karen

I am so weak!!!!

Well, I went online to Oriental Trading and got pirate stuff. Since a lot of it is in bulk, I thought I would see if anyone else is interested in anything I got:

PIRATE NECKLACE - Pirate Necklaces. An assorted 1 1/8" zinc pirate pendant on a braided 18" strand. $5.95/12. I will only use 5 at most. Basically they are .50 each.

SKULL AND CROSSBONES BASEBALL HAT - Each with an adjustable strap. 10 1/2" x 7 1/2" Imported. © OTC $14.95 per Dozen. I will at most use 4 of the 12 if anyone is interested. $1.25 each

PIRATE BANDANA - 20" x 20" Cotton Pirate Bandannas. Dress like a swashbuckling sailor with these! Imported. Bandannas are non-returnable. © OTC. $8.95 per Dozen .75 each - I will probably only use 5 of these.

PAPER PIRATE EYE PATCH - Includes elastic string. (4 dozen per unit) 2 3/8"
Picture of Skull and Cross Bones on patch. $3.95 per Unit 48 items per Unit .08 apiece....will use 5 at most and hey, you can have one for free...I will bring them to one of the meets.

I also got DD the cutest baby pirate outfit and princess outfit, so she is quite set!

I doubt I will pack the extra hats and bandanns unless I know someone wants them since I bet I will not want them taking up packing space both there and back! I will take the chance on the eye patches...smile. PM me or respond on here if you are interested. If you want to see what they look like do a search on www.OrientalTrading.com.

And where the heck is Sweet Sue? It is so unlike her to be gone for so long (Christal, too). I hope all is okay!
Wendy, I took the mumu/tiki dress up above the knee and make a tie back for it. Still UGLY but not as much of a tent. THis is the material for those wondering http://disney.store.go.com/DSSectionPage.process?Merchant_Id=2&Section_Id=13842&Product_Id=178454 not the same thing...actually cuter but the idea. We got matching outfits for all.
Everyone else okay with wearing tshirts Sunday or is Wednesday at the party better (for a group photo). As soon as we decide for sure, I will post it.
Jenny, Sorry about your great grandma. It's hard when they are old and you will miss them but you know they are ready to go.
Renee, you know that for the low, low price of $2.00 Jenny will make you a FFC door sign (as seen on the itinerary page of the web site (but personalized with writing). Just let her know if you want one.
Jenny, I agree that we should only have one cabin per catagory (unless port and starboard are diff or something) We don't want to have it last hours and if people want to hang out longer at the pool/bar :goodvibes all the better.
Paul, Yeah you should send me a pic and your e-mail so I can send you a list. We actually have almost everyone's picture...just the two obvious holdouts  , Paul, tammyg(hello, where are you), ragdoll, tia(I know you are trying) and that only leaves the people who rarely (or never post). Not bad. Should be fun to be able to recognize people, expecially because we can take the list with us. I'll tell you, I have dealt with the pics and information so much, I know it all by heart. Scary!
Renee, Also don't forget that halloween costumes will be out by then and you can go to party city or something. Also, constructive playthings has pirate stuff.

Karen,

I only thought of that storage idea because someone else on the boards thought it first...smile. But you are right about the weather! Hopefully it will be smooth sailing and :sunny: sunny! Otherwise I hear the bathtub is a good alternative... :rotfl2:

BTW, my DH was AirForce for 9 years (That was long before we met, so I don't have any stories to share about life as an AirForce wife, but saw that yours also had that background!) Alan, my DH, still works on fighter jets.

OOOOPPPS! I see I was to late. Great job on the pirate stuff! Check out the number of posts....2 more to 2000. Think we can do it?

Sweet Jenny has agreed to make us signs, but I still think my door will be under dressed in comparison to some I have seen on these boards! I am going to have to walk by Jenny's room daily just to see the show! Her neighbors are lucky all they have to do is look out into the hall to see the daily decorations... :)

Oh heck, I can reach 2000 on my own!
Several things. Those of you that sent me pics, I haven't put your e-mails on the list but will next time unless you tell me not to, so if you don't want everyone to have it let me know.
Next MSWint, Ragdoll, Tia, Paul I don't have your e-mails to send you the list.
Mine is mjcrouch@4dv.net if you want to send it to me.
