Sept 17 2005 Magic - am i alone on the ship?

Well, my mom saw my grandma and she said she's doing okay, but as we all know, "just a few hours" is always just a guess. She's just tired, mom says, and can't really talk because of her exhaustion. But her family said it's okay for her to go, so now it's the waiting game. Thanks, Jen, for the well wishes.

I got the door magnets today! Woo hoo! I think I'll start printing them soon so they're done. I joked with my sister that I got free printer paper too, because between each sheet of 8 1/2 x 11" sheet of magnetic paper is an 8 1/2 x 11" sheet of regular paper!

For the signs, I was going to take them up and put them down, but now I'm thinking, if I can swing it, I want to just add to it. By the end of the trip, it would be fun to have all the signs on the door, even if they're back-to-back. I know this is a strange question, but does anyone know the dimensions of the stateroom doors?

Thanks for the explanation on the tiki clothes. I'm still debating on whether or not to buy some shorts on eBay. I got my slips today for dress attire, and they worked out well. I just want to be DONE making purchases.

I checked out touringplans dot com and it reports that the expected crowd levels at the parks are a 4 out of 10 on 9-24 and 9-25. The best parks to hit are MK, DS, EP and the park to avoid is AK. On Sunday, the best park to hit is AK, and the parks to avoid are MK and DS. Well, we're doing it HALF right - we're going to AK then MK on Saturday and EP then DS on Sunday. I offer that as information for any of you who are going to the parks after the cruise.

Well, I guess that's it for now. TTYL!

Checking in again.

Does anyone now the smoking rules for the balcony? The wife got a balcony so we could smoke. Don't know if that is against the rules out there.

We have dinner at 8:00, think that is late. We are staying on the 7th floor starboard (old Navy man myself).

Do they ever have a raw bar on the ship? Popcorn anywhere?

Anyone else smokers that know what the rules are?

Frank and Lola

Yes, You can smoke on your balconies, just be kind to your neighbors (smile). I don't know what a raw bar is but I do think they sell popcorn to go with the movie, anyone? Good to hear from you again!

Jenny,

I actually remembered seeing this in another thread. Door measurements:

The door assembly is 35.25 down from the top and is 9.5 tall. It extends from the edge 4.5.

Hope that helps!

Hi y'all... I finally ordered my dress for formal night today. It should be here by Monday or Tuesday. I hope I like it as well in person as online.

Oh, hubby says we are a go for the cabin tour. :cheer2: He didn't want any door signs, though. :sad1: No FFC shirts, either.

Catchya later,
Karen

Karen, Where did you order from? I am beginning to think I may have to order mine too since I have not had any luck finding one. It sounds like everyone is busy getting ready for the cruise. I have been finding a few things here and there, still havent got a suit for ds either. I too wish I could sneak my dog on! He would be happy hanging out on the verandah. Just not sure the potty breaks would take place! Maybe I could bring the kitty instead. I'm sure housekeeping wouldnt notice the litter box!
That is the only hard part with vacation, checking in the 4 legged kids at the kennel!
I usually leave that job for my dh. -Donna

Hi! Guess what, I got home and my mail was on the table. No, it wasn't my cruise papers, it was vouchers from the airline. :cool1: Remember? The price went down for the tickets but they took so long not knowing what they were doing that I lost the cheaper price. I complained to the Consumer Services dept. and they came through! :Pinkbounc I am shocked, I figured I wouldn't hear from them again but I did. They are only vouchers which means you have to go on another trip, oh poor me! Anyway, we are going to Las Vegas next summer I may use them then. Well, I just got home from work but I just had to tell you that screaming does work sometimes. :sunny: Talk tomorrow! Now if only I can stil get on the Lord Sheffield ship.

Lorra

:cool1: :cool1:  Great news, Lorra!!

I got everyone's pics. Posted the one Missy sent last night....finally! TammyG and Donna (tia) I will get yours up asap. I have to go to the day care and babysit all day. I am sooooo dreading it, so I will be away from the computer :earseek: I'll try to survive! Have a good day and I will check in later.

Lorra, I am so happy for you. Sometimes when things come as a surprise like that it makes your frustration even sweeter in the end.

Jen, what a dreadful day! I worked daycare all through college and did at-home childcare when my kids were small, it is not easy work. Usually though you can get a moment or two that makes the whole day worth while.

I am not wearing a ball gown for formal night. I usually wear something a little less than formal. I have this "it's my vacation too" mentality, and I am not a formal person. The boys both have suits and I have to say my husband cleans up pretty well. So we look pretty good I must say myself.

Talking about taking dogs with us...........we don't kennel ours thanks to a wonderful neighbor that we always switch with. Our dog would probably jump over the verandah.....not real smart, but so darn cute! He is a perpetual toddler, we have to watch his every move or he gets into trouble! :paw:

Talk to you all later,
Missy

Missy, I'm not wearing a ball gown, either. I don't know how to describe the dress, but it's just a dressy dress... I'm not a formal person, either. The only "formal" thing I've ever worn was my wedding dress!

All this talk about puppy dogs... I still haven't found a place to kennel our dog. I hate kenneling him, but we don't know anyone here well enough to ask them to take him in. We'll have to find someone to take Emily's rats as well. I told her I thought she should wait until after the cruise to get them....

Today is our 19th anniversary. I'm not sure if we're doing anything tonight or not. Next Tuesday night is our big night at the theatre to see Wicked.

Jen, just stopped in to look at pictures again, and I am trying real hard not to wake up the kids laughing!!

Karen

Happy Anniversary! 19 years, how appropriate to go see Wicked. LOL

Karen, what are you laughing at that you are trying not to wake your kids up??

Missy

Hi everyone!!

Happy Anniversary Karen!!!

Lorra, way to go on the airline vouchers. You're right it does help to scream every once in a while.

Jenny, I'm sorry to hear about your grandmother. I know how hard that is. It like you said though at least you know she is going to the best place.

Emily

Well Lord Sheffield is booked completely so I guess I missed out. Yeah well, I was upset but now I need to go on. If you know of any place else on St. Martin that has something like this, let me know.

Lorra

Jenny, so sorry to hear about your Grandmother, I so miss mine she ROCKED!!! When Hospice stepped in she too didn't have much longer. She is going to a far better place, my prayers are with you.

Lorra, so sorry you didn't get in on the Lord Sheffields, that's something I wanted to do but thought DGS was just a little too young to enjoy. So we passed on it this time. I'm sure our Dis buddies will steer you right into something else. :goodvibes Also congrats on your success!!! :cool1:

Karen, HAPPY 19TH ANNIVERSARY!!! We're celebrating our 26 this year and I couldn't imagine life without Paul he's a little like a pirate: about $$$$ but he makes up for it in all his other qualities :earseek: :rotfl2: Face it girls...can't live with them and you CAN'T live without them. :love2:

Well just working on the old :badpc: today and trying to stay off the boards to get some work done. Very, Very hard to do. Just watched the Disney Special on the Travel Channel about the Magic and the Wonder!!! It was GREAT!!! :earseek: Makes me want September to HURRY UP!!! But then Heck I'm so far behind in the list right now, at this rate I'll be shopping like a mad hatter the last week just throwing money in every direction. DH will surely pass out at that thought!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Have a good Day All!! :wave2:

Tammy, I saw your son's post on the main board, but I thought I'd post here and you could relay. His girlfriend is coming with you right? Or was that someone else that was bringing the son's gf? Pool's are an obvious, since they're over 18, they can chill out around the adult pool, so they don't have to be around kids. They can go to the clubs each night, there are always some really good shows to see. Go see a movie. There's the Cove Cafe, a quiet, adults only coffee bar to go get a drink and check email. There are activities all day long, along with behind the scenes tours.

Hope that helps.

Hi everyone,

First of all, before I forget:
1) What is the song that plays at the entrance page of the FFC website?
2) If Missy's pix are posted, where are they?

Went to class this AM and realized I needed a paper signed to turn in documenting my internship hours (need 600 to graduate). My mom KINDLY drove up to my town (20 min), then over to the town I work (45 mins), got my supervisor's signature, then drove back to my town (another 45 mins). What a dear! We went to Sears after class and she bought a treadmill and we went to Olive Garden - I paid (mostly). We had a good visit.

I'm SOOOOOOO irritated about the magnetic paper I bought. I got it last night, and here's the problem: The page prints fine until the last 2 inches of the page, where it becomes smeared. Along the entire length of the paper, color is distorted. For a white eye, it is misshapen and cloudy gray in color. For a clouds scene, the clouds are dark blue instead of light blue. The streak is noticeable, and as said, it runs the entire length of the paper when printed in landscape style. I have printed 4 sheets on the paper, and I had a problem with each one. I printed the same image on regular paper using the same printing options on the same computer and same printer. The same image that was terrible on the magnetic decal paper I purchased was fine when printed on regular paper! This verifies that it is not a printer problem or a problem with the ink cartridge. I wrote them and want a refund. We'll see what happens. I spent $40 on that paper, and that's for all your door signs! If I buy from the store, I get 5 sheets for $8, so I'd spend $56 on the same amount! Grrrrr.

I think I'm off to bid on some shorts on eBay for cruise - $12 including shipping - not too bad when I'd pay $40-50 in the store!

Wendy (et. al), any word on seating at dinner?

I didn't even know he had posted!! Been on this family for months to post and then behind my back..... :rotfl2: Which is a good thing..so just kidding

Yes his girlfriend is going, he was just asking for different things to do as in activities. He's an active kind of guy always has to be doing something. I think his fear is that he'll have to hang around mom and dad. :rotfl2: ..which he knows he won't... :goodvibes what he don't know is I want everyone to do their own thing :rotfl2: and then have some family time. But leave some time for poor old mom and dad...'cause we ain't THAT old if you get my drift

Hello everyone.

Jenny, I'm sorry to hear about your Great-Grandma. My prayers will be for her and your family, and that she is in as little pain as possible.

Jen, the website is awesome!! Great job! I LOVE it!! You're so creative and good! I'll have to send you a pic with all of us (Me, Jen, Douglas, J.D, and Clayton) OH! And I forgot to tell you that J.D. will be having a birthday too while we're cruising!!!

Just for the sake of keeping up, I'll mention that we booked in July of '04, but we chose 2nd seating, because the last cruise, we had first, and we missed sunset EVERY DAY!!! We would go into dinner and the sun was shining, and by the time we got out, it was dark!! :confused3 (we also didn't like having to rush to get to dinner every night) Besides, we're all night people anyway, so we were all in agreement that 2nd seating would work best for us.

Hello to all of the newcomers to our thread! We've really got quite a group here!!!

And on the more personal side...I did not get the job that I interviewed with. I received the official "thank-you-for-your-time-and-interest...we'll-keep-your-resume-on-file...blah-blah-blah" letter in the mail yesterday. :sad2:

And we also did not get the house. There was a big mess with my student loans. I was 100% truthful in what I told the mortgage company about my student loans (that they are in grace period right now, but I will start paying on them in November) But it seems that when the mortgage company took the info to the underwriters, they reported to them that my loans were in deferrment for the next 12 months! Well the underwriters wanted that in writing from my student loan holders, and of course because it's not true, I was unable to get it in writing! So the underwriters just closed the deal.
So it's been a disappointing week to say the least, and now we have quite a bit of UNpacking to do...No biggie. I'm always saying how I would love to get more organized. Well, maybe we can use this unpacking time to do just that...get more organized. As for the job thing...I truly believe that there is a reason for everything, and I'm certain that this just means that there is something even better for me out there. I just need to keep looking.

OK, so thanks for listening to the latest episode of my "Woe Is Me" saga. LOL

Anyway, the dress is coming along quite nicely! I can't wait to wear it on formal night! I went to the mall this weekend, and I hit some GREAT SALES!!! I bought a new pair of sunglasses (half off, plus I had a coupon for an extra 20% off of that!) AND I got my shoes for formal night (originally $40, they were clearanced to $19, then they took an extra 20% off, AND I used the 20% coupon on those too, so I got them for less than $11!!! :cheer2:

Don't you just LOVE a great deal?!?!?!? :cloud9:

September is right around the corner, and I am SO very excited! :Pinkbounc

well, I better get back to work...
See you all later
-Christal

Jenny, sorry to hear the magnetic paper isn't working out! I'd be pretty miffed, too.

I had to look at the source code to see what the song was on the FFC index (I didn't know it, either). It's "Changes in Latitude." It's a Jimmy Buffet tune.

Check the 3rd page of pictures for the newest picture/bio posted.

Karen

Karen, you're FULL of helpful information! Thank you! :)

I just talked to the company, and I spoke to someone (got her name and extension in case there's a hiccup in the process), that they are going to refund the entire amount and have someone check the paper. Woo hoo! So in 3-4 days, when it goes through, I'll go ahead and purchase BETTER paper so this doesn't happen again.

Christal, I'm sorry I've been spelling your name wrong all this time! And I'm sorry about the job and the house. HOpefully things work out better soon for you guys!
