Sept 17 2005 Magic - am i alone on the ship?

Lorra, I think your sons will be just fine w/o jackets. I'd try Payless or Target or Walmart. I know -- they wear their dress shoes it seems like 1 or 2 times top, then it's on to the next size... Better to spend less on them and more on the smeakers they wear every day!

Morning everyone, hope everyone had a good weekend. Got caught up on all the posts this morning.

Well, I think we've decided we are going on the 11 night Southern Caribbean cruise on the Wonder exactly one year after this one. I'm so excited!!!! This is going to be awesome. I hope some of you might be able to go. Missy, cancel your Double Dip cruise and come join us. Waitlisted for a suite again, they haven't become available yet, DCL supposed to call when they open those rooms. More time to save up for that deposit.

Later everyone,
Emily

If I'm not being too nosey can you possibly pm me and let me know what DCL rate was? I'm trying to determine with 7 of us going next year would it be better for two cat 5's ajoining rooms or a Suite? My DM is wanting to go and she wants to be with all of us...(like thats an easy thing to do) and like I told her MOM your on the same ship!!! Oh Well....if not I understand...I guess Duh..I could call them myself...just put it down to not enough sleep :rotfl2: Thanks for letting me rattle :earseek:

Hi everyone!
Had Braden's b-day party last night and boy, am I glad that is over. I am glad I only have 2 kids to keep up with on b-day's. At least they are both done until next summer.
As far as the dinner seating times, I am only hoping to get early because I think it would work better for the boys. Steve and I have always preferred late so we have more time to relax in the hot tub or by the pool before dinner. Also if we are in port later during the day we don't have to get back early to the ship to get ready for dinner. If we get early seating this time it will be a first for us. Its all going to be a first for us because we have never cruised with the boys or on DCL before.

I have a question about the kids club and I am hoping you all can help me with it. I saw some kids navigators and noticed they have scheduled activities through out the day, which is good. My question is what if a kid dosen't want to do the scheduled activity and just wants to play? Do they let them do that or do they have to do the activity? Also my boys are 4 and 7 which puts them both in the Oceaners' Club but in different age groups. How often will they be together during their time in the club? I think my 4 yo would be more apt to stay if he was with his brother some of the time, especially at first. As you can tell, I am kind of worried about them wanting to go the the club. I'm sure they will be ok. I'm just a worrier.

Well, I have a busy week so I better go. I'll check back later.

Happy Monday!!!

I normally take on Diet Dr. Pepper for drinks, but since Disney includes soft drinks I may not do the extra work and just drink with my meal. Does anyone know if Mr. Pibb is an option?

I have another question for all the experienced cruisers here. Port information: I know Castaway Cay has everything in 'walking distance' from the ship. I hear St. Thomas has shopping right off the pier...any details on that would be great. Does St. Marteen have anything right off the pier? I am trying to figure out what I can do off the ship with the 1yr old that does not involve a big excursion. We are thinking about doing the glass bottom boat on Castaway Cay. Has anyone done that? Is it worth it? What have your experiences been in these ports and what would you rate the best?

Thanks for the feedback! I did book a couples massage for DH and me on the St. Thomas day. That sounded nice and relaxing.

Have a great day!

Trisha, I don't know if they just let kids "play" or not -- as for ages, I think they are pretty strict abt staying w/in the guidelines and I noticed that they rotate age groups according to activity -- for instance, just b/c the Oceaneer's CLUB was for DD's age group, we were often re-directed to the Oceaneer's LAB to drop off/pick up, depending on what activity they were working on.

I do know DD just loved it. Only once did she page to have us pick her up (our Palo night when we were already finished, just relaxing with coffee) -- and we sprinted to see her. I guess we were excited that she missed us! We also spent a lot of time with her, waiting for signings and photos with characters. Which was actually more fun that it sounds.

She missed the Pumbaa's PJ party last year b/c she was pooped out, but she's already brought it up and telling us she wants to go this year and get new pj's for it, etc. I think your son(s) will love it.

I havea question, do you think me and my two girls in formal dresses and my DH in a suit and tie would clash with my two DS in dress pants with shirts and ties, no jacket? They refuse to wear a jacket and frankly it would be an expense for a one time use that I don't care to make. But I guess I can chase down some if you think that it would look bad. I already found out all four kids need good shoes again. Thyey just got some in December and they have only wore them two times. It drives me crazy! Where can I get cheap shoes for them, suggestions?

Lorra

I found some good dress shoes at Target on clarence, but it was a while ago.. they were only like $4

hi everyone,

Emily i am so jealous the 11 day sounds great, if only we could all go on that one too and keep the FFC together... :thewave:

nothing new here.
internet has been touch and go all week.
DH got back this morning from Malta and has a nasty virus so i have banished him to the guest bedroom until he is better.
DD has decided that 10pm is her new favourite play time - hope she grows out of that soon.

i hadn't even thought about dress shoes for the kids - DD dosn't own any shoes yet so socks will have to do. do have a couple of pretty dresses for her and a nice pants, shirt and vest set for DS.

for drinks we will probably get a couple of nice bottles of wine to enjoy while the kids sleep and possibly a bottle of duty free.

have a nice start to the week.

night night and sweet dreams (or rather sweet day dreams to all of you)

Hello everyone! Sorry I have been so unavailable. I have been working on something and it is keeping me real busy. If it works out I will share it with you all later. How mysterious! I really need to think about what Trenton is going to wear. I haven't even thought about shoes! He has no nice shoes. All he will wear is tennis shoes, Hmmmmm. Lorra, sorry you had such a crappy time at the amusement park. That stinks!
Hey Sherrie! Hope things are going well for you. Still think of you often.

Well the week is 20% over.
Had a good time this weekend at Holiday World. I rode the Jungle Racer, many, many ,many times for you Trisha&Steve. :bounce:
Not much new here. Which is a good thing.
Loving the countdown timer now! Getting closer. :cheer2:
Hi to all :wave2: , will check in later.

BRAD

:flower1: Pretty quiet day yesterday, good for me b/c big work project all week and not pages and pages to catch up on. Geeze, Jen, you've got us all wondering.

Can you believe we're getting so close? I am so excited! :flower1:

Have a great day everyone!

Emily, did you get my pm??? Still haven't heard back from AllSeas Travel....DH just shaking his head saying money...money...money!!

Jen, you are the mysterious one :goodvibes Good Luck on your endeavor :rotfl2:

Time is getting shorter...
Just wanted to ask a quick question... is it normal for only our amount of people to post on an up coming cruise. I guess I figured everyone who went on an DCL would be in tune with the boards, especially on that particular cruise:confused3 Oh Well....

It's a work day here for me :badpc: even though I just got back in from this earlier am a lot of :badpc: time needs to go into it and I must not focus on the boards!!! Must Not!!! :rotfl:

Well DH was cleaning up last night :earseek: I know...and he actually started putting things in a suitcase. Of 'course there still in their bags of purchase, but just seeing him pull out a suitcase and open it to put something inside that is going to go on the cruise was.....OOH LA LA  so great!!! 'Course then he had to put suitcase back in closet before the 4 year old got home and starting doing cart wheels thinking it was September. When September 1 hits we move to a visual calendar to countdown days with him. :hourglass

DD came back from Saint Augustine with plastic swords for costumes on pirate night...do you think it wise to take them on board the ship??? They are not very large...But I don't want to hold up the line due to our family possibly being some national threat with plastic swords. I know you never know.....that's not even funny to joke about!

Hope everyone has a good day :wave2:

My sister has been on my butt about joining disboards...I finally did! Myself (Lisa), my husband (Jim) and my three boys will be on this cruise...Michael (15), Ayden (3) and Dylan (18 months).

Lisa........I sent you a PM and now I am cracking myself up! You are KSUmom's sister.........DAAAAAAAAAAAh!!lol

I think I need to go back to bed! Anyway welcome aboard, and now I know you are the other family traveling with Grandma from Columbus!

Have a good day everyone!

Missy

Lisa, That post was hilarious! Welcome. We are glad to meet the "other" sister!
Tammy, in my experience this is a very active board. We have 20 regular posters and 5 who pop in from time to time, and then a couple who pop in even less frequently but still come back to say hello. I feel very lucky to be part of it :grouphug: (that sounds like you don't...of course I didn't mean it that way..just was an afterthought).
SweetSue must be very busy. Hope things are okay. And cmctammyg, where are you? It has been a while. Miss you both.

WELCOME LISA!!!!! HELLO!! :wave2:

Can't wait till we're all at the meet....this is going to be FUN!!! :bounce: :bounce:

Jen, what in the heck are you talking about...did I miss something??

Well, I had time to do it. I made my list of everything to take. We only need dress shoes for everyone but DH and some dress clothes for my boys. That is all I need, hooray! Now I know I won't go broke just buying things for the cruise. Now, we can spend more on the cruise. I do need my formal dress hung up though so I need to have that done. The other option is to wear 5 inch heals and if you knew me you would know that is a impossibility.
Well, I need to get lunch ready, my daughter has the next two weeks of preschool and then they are off until the week before the cruise. They go to this preschool four weeks during the summer, two in July and two in August, just to do fun stuff and give me relief from her for a half a day. I will check back later.

Lorra

Tammy, I got it. Hopefully they'll get back to you pretty soon. I saw your post on the main board, at this point I don't think I would try to request a room. Like I said we're waitlisted until they open the suites for booking, I don't know how far down the list we are. If they ask, I'll try to get one of the midships, but I figure by the time they get to us, those 4 rooms will be gone. But hey I won't complain.

Hi Lisa!! Welcome to the group. We're glad to have you joining us.

 everyone else! Hope you are having a great day.

Later,
Emily

Nice thought Emily!! I do not think we are going to go on either one, truth be told. Depending on how life goes........we were kind of planning on backing out of the 2006 cruise anyhow to take a few weeks in California and take a 5-6 day out of L.A. I am thinking my kids should be exposed to a little more of the world than DCL! However, I have been exposed to the world and would love to cruise DCL every year. If we do cancel we will go out west in August and not have to take the kids (and me) out of school. At this point I am working on going back to get my master's and am working in the schools so taking of work 2 years in a row in September..........not really looked kindly upon.

We are going to rebook on board and get the discounts and room credits and just let it ride until the last minute. It really will not be very expensive if we can go, and we have adjoining SPH rooms booked so we will see.

I am so excited for you though. That is so much fun! I love the ports and if I could I would, trust me!

Missy

I am reading everyone posting today and I am going to have to learn your lingo! Maybe my sister can catch me up to date!
