Sept 17 2005 Magic - am i alone on the ship?

Donna, you guys will be able to settle down just about anywhere you want! That is the nice thing about anesthesia. The jobs are everywhere; just pick a place big enough to have hospitals or same-day surgery centers and he can find a place that needs him.

My husband has done quite a bit of moonlighting in his spare time and has several places that would love for him to come back once he retires from the AF. Right now, we are thinking we may head back to Nebraska (even though we hated winter there)... that's where most of our friends are. But that's 4 years away.

I am originally from Jacksonville, FL -Donna

Wow  your home town is almost in my back yard... I'm from Lake City, Fl which is just minutes away. I find myself over there about 4-6 times a year...mall shoping, movies, late afternoon beaches..yummy!! I usually spend more time in Gainesville, Fl since my work sends me through there at least 3 times a week.

Hi everyone, we have late dinner seating too. We've never had early seating as late seems to work well for us. We really enjoy Topsider's for dinner. Since this will be our 8th Disney cruise we will probably dine there several times. It gives us more flexibility and we really enjoy the food and the quiet atmosphere.

Haven't shopped for the cruise. Will just make due with what I have. Just looking forward to some peace and quiet and casual good times.

Welcome to all the recent new cruisers. I don't get to post as much as I would like and just can't keep track of who is who. I am the other...

Donna

We have late seating as well, but are on the wait list for early. Since there are 10 of us it may be difficult. We had late seating last year which I like; however, ds would start to fall asleep during dinner. Early seating will definately work best for us!

hi everyone,

Jenny your story brought tears to my eyes.

Donna Iraq is "just up the road" from here. although luckly for us it is a world apart in terms of safety etc. it is shockingly hot here at the moment 45+ (i think around 115-120 in your terms). at least with his job he should be inside a bit. i really feel for the guys and girls in service there, i bet you are really pleased he is almost home.

We have late seating and a request for early but i am thinking of canceling that request. at the moment we are on a really late schedule, kids down at 9+ and sleep 'til 8+ so perhaps late would work well.

Shopping for the trip sounds like a lovely idea... i did get some stuff for the kids, but i think Dh and myself may have to make do. besides i haven't got to wear my formal dress since my last cruise!

oh well night night all.
sweet dreams.

Hi everyone! I went to Clementine Park yesterday and it was awful. People were so rude, they let people in front by the hundreds and noone would stop them. The employees watched this go on. It was yucky and dirty there. There was stull floating in the pool and crap laying everywhere. It seemed noone cared. We left three hours after getting there, I had my fill by then. Now, does going to Disney spoil you or was it really bad. No, it was really bad there, I answered my own question. It took us about a hour to get on the lazy river intertube float like at Blizzard Beach and there wasn't many in front of us but everyone left everyone else in line with them. I usually wouldn't have said anything but it happened alot so I started yelling and then I almost got into a fight so we had to leave. We came home and scrubbed off because I didn't want my kids to get sick. I could have sat around my pool and not spent so much money, not gotten so aggrevated, and not have been in the scorching heat getting burned in the afternoon. This morning at work I ripped out all of our advertisements out of our displays and threw them in the garbage. No way are we going to promote a place like that! Well, I need to go make supper. Talk to you guys later.

What a quiet group we are this weekend! I guess even the chatty cathys run out of things to say sometimes.

Is anyone else getting thrown off by the Sept 17 2006 thread? Everytime I see it as the newest thread with a post, I want to click on it, but then I see the date and stop myself.

Not much is new. Ate too much for dinner and feel yucka.

Just curious... what's everyone's favorite towell animal? My fav is the elephant because our steward put our sunglasses on him and he looked very cool. :cool1:

Okay, later gang!

Jenny, I like the elephant also but I really want to see the monkey!!! I hear he's really cute :goodvibes especially when you see the pics of him just hanging around your room :rotfl2:

What time is everyone getting to the ship??? So we can get this party really started? :rockband: :dancer: :drinking1 :rotfl2: :rotfl2: I know...I know calm down still have 42 days left....WOW!!! Thant's really not that long :earseek:
I know Jenny is getting us a list of all our meets together..YEAH!! For Jenny!!!
She's doing a lot for us guys...I know she's got two signs with my name on them.

Well not much happening here, babysitting while DD is in St. Augustine this weekend so it's been a lot of :paw: :paw: Blue's Clue's for me too. Gosh if I have to see that again.. :rotfl: They must pay him a lot of $$$$$

I don't know about everyone else but I need to find a formal dress, personally a quick trip to Wal-Mart, Target and Payless can take care of everything else...but the dress thing has got me.. I hate going to pick one out if the truth be told!! :teeth: I'm not a lover of shopping for something like that :teeth:

To all a good night! :wizard:

Hi y'all...

Still no formal dress here. I didn't have one for the last cruise, either. Not sure if I'll have one this time or not. I might just wear a nice church dress. That's what I did last year. I still have that dress, so that's always a possibility.

Not much else new here. Just waiting to get the kids in bed for the night.

Karen

I got two formal dresses this week. Shopped at a store called "Ross". I think they're all over. Anyway just found the one dress at Macy's last night on sale for $69.00. I paid $24.99 for the $140.00 dress. They had alot of stuff. I also got a Coldwater Creek dress that sells in their catalog for $40.00 for 8 bucks! Check them out if you have one! Good Luck! :cheer2:

Great Job Tracy!! I love Ross for that...also, Dillards should be going 75%off before the cruise (right after labor day) and some times you can get an additional 25% off, if you watch for it. Great deals on formals! I need to see if I can fit into mine....may have to wear it unzipped (there is a visual we don't need!)

Wow Tracy good work!!! I'll have to check there and Jen you are so right about Dillards forgot about that. Like I said not so much the shop alcoholic for myself. Now I do love to buy for others...maybe that's whay DD aways wants to go and HELP me??? RIGHT!!! Yeah, goes to show your never to old to learn. I'll have to let her know I have now caught on. :rotfl2:

I know we have talked about this before but...hate to reread old posts. What is everyone taking on board to drink?? DH not so much a beer drinker likes the fruity stuff :drinking1 ... any suggestions??? (I know someone answered me in the past...sorry about that)

Take care all :wave2:

Everyone is very quiet today. Is everyone okay? Jen, Trisha, Jenny, et al??????? I hope so. It has been rainy today so after church we all got lazy and just hung around. I took a nice afternoon nap, DH watched a movie and the kids stayed in there rooms playing. The only bad thing is that their rooms were disasterous. In the end we got them clean and now they are getting ready for bed. Another early schhol day morning on Monday. UGH, having a hard time getting used to that early morning rising.

Hope everyone has a good evening/night.

Take Care

KD -Karen

Hi all, we finally had a bit of a lazy day here as well. Didn't babysit DGD's at all today which I think is only the second day we didn't have them at all in three years. We have so much to catch up on around the house but we were just too tired to care. Went to visit DM in the nursing home and out to eat with DH. I actually went to bed at 9:30 yesterday. Felt good to get some much needed rest but now I am thinking, gee I should have done this or that.

Saturday at exactly 5pm I blasted the sound of the ship's horn on the DCL cd and yelled out to hubby "in exactly 6 weeks we will hear that and be sailing away!" Can you tell I'm EXCITED?

Donna

Hey guys,

Yes, this has been a quiet weekend. Not much is going on here. Had church today and then got some lunch with my mom and DSis (dad was working and doesn't like to leave home if he can help it - I DEFINITELY didn't get that trait from him! :))

I brought up some suitcases tonight, and I think I might do some packing this week. General stuff that I won't need before we leave, like tank tops, hygiene products, etc. My DSis thinks I'm nuts that I'm doing this "practice packing run", but I keep telling her that I want to see how many suitcases the long packing list I've put together will require! I don't want to be lugging 12 suitcases for 9 days!

Well, just wanted to say hi. Hopefully something exciting will happen this week that gets us all chatting again!

Hi everyone. Back from another nice weekend at the lake. I pointed out to DH that we only have one more together before the cruise. I have one more than him b/c we are doing a mother/daughter weekend with two of my friends and their daughters the last weekend in Aug. Jenny, I'm holding off until Labor Day for trial run packing, but I am stashing little things I've bought for the cruise in one of our suitcases. Does that count? And yes, you were right, I meant that of course you and I would get our requested seating rotation. Duh. :flower1:

Sounds like everyone had a nice weekend. It is hard to believe it's August..it's going quickly guys. Good job on the dress finds, Tracy. I'm wearing my same formal from last year -- when else do you get to wear a ball gown? Geeeze. I did go up a notch and got DD a dres that practically matches at Gymboree for $6.99! A bargain, esp. by Gymboree stds. And I bought DH a coordinating tie to wear with his dark suit. I'm hoping it makes for a snazzy photo. Christmas cards, anyone??

I think clothes-wise we are pretty much set (I have a slight shopping problem. I said slight, Jenny. :flower1: ), but DH will need some new T-shirts. They wear out quickly on the railroad! I'm waiting for Dillard's 75% off sale.

Drinks to bring on board. I'm still a bit on the fence. I'm the only one who drinks in my family and probably a the drink of the day and a beer here and there would do me, but I might bring Parrot Bay or Malibu rum on board (or pick some up in port) to make a drink in the room. I don't know. I'm not a wine drinker or anything, so I don't have to worry abt that. I will probably buy the bottled water deal. We are pretty big water drinkers, but we're doing the DCL bus, so don't want to mess with stopping. DH is a Dr. Pepper drinker, too, so he misses that but not enough to lug it on board.

I hope we get early seating too. DD plays so hard all day and we are all pretty wiped out by 9:30 or 10pm every night, (early risers, all of us, no matter where we are, so feel free to call our room early...) but if we don't there are lots of good things abt late seating and we'll figure it out.

One cool thing abt early seating is after dinner we took DD up to Mickey's pool, it had brand new fresh water and we had it all to ourselves. It was pretty neat! As those of you who have hung out at Mickey's pool can attest, it gets pretty grungy and crowded. So maybe if those of us with wee kids get early seatig we can arrange a mini-meet at Mickey's pool after dinner one night.

Enough rambling, and yes I'm thrown off by the Sept 17 06 thread and I'm jealous b/c I'd like to do an 11 or 12 day cruise, but DH is saying no. Wants something different. Maybe he'll have so much fun this year he will want to do it again. He said he won't wear green yarn on his wrist, but he will sing Karaoke! That will be a fun get-together. Jenny, didn't you say you liked to sing it too? Anyway, maybe we should try to get a group together to sing/watch Karaoke one night?

Must go to bed, busy, busy day at work tomorrow. All this week, actually.

TTFN, W.

Wendy, I loved reading your post. I like the long ones.

Yes, I karoeke, and I think it would be really fun to get a group to go watch/participate one night.

I am getting excited! DSis is starting to have more Disney conversations of her own volition lately, which is always a sign that we're getting close!

Night all!

Hi y'all... just got home from picking Emily up from youth group. We had a long day today. We're driving 40 minutes to church on Sunday mornings... There was a swim party for the youth at 3, followed by pizza and devo, so lasting till around 8. We had to come home for Emily's suit (didn't know about the swim thing before we got there), then go back. I didn't want to drive back home (bear in mind I have to pay a $3 toll every time I come home), so I took the other 3 to McD's to play in the playplace (which didn't feel like it was air-conditioned), then to a movie. Saw Bad News Bears and would NOT recommend it! The language was atrocious. Much worse than the original. I hope my kids don't start trying to imitate some of the things in it. :worried: We should have just watched Sky High again.

Hubby will be home Thursday night. I'm wondering when I get to go off for a week and leave him here. It's getting a little old hearing about his sight-seeing and hanging with old friends.

Karen

I havea question, do you think me and my two girls in formal dresses and my DH in a suit and tie would clash with my two DS in dress pants with shirts and ties, no jacket? They refuse to wear a jacket and frankly it would be an expense for a one time use that I don't care to make. But I guess I can chase down some if you think that it would look bad. I already found out all four kids need good shoes again. Thyey just got some in December and they have only wore them two times. It drives me crazy! Where can I get cheap shoes for them, suggestions?
