For all of you waitlisted for early seating, late seating IS great!
Just got back from class. It's a class on counseling adolescents. We had a guest speaker - 14 years old - who was diagnosed with a brain tumor in January. One week she jogged 1.5 miles, the next week she had two of the less severe mal seizures and then had a grand mal seizure. The docs thought it was malignant and went in to do a 6-8 hour surgery. 4 or 5 hours in, they called out to her parents to say it's not cancer. The tumor was the size of a lemon. So they decide, though, that since the tumor is not shrinking, they need to go in and get it all. They set her up for a second brain surgery. Just hours before the surgery is to start, the fire alarms go off and they have to delay. Turns out, in that delay, that the docs discover she was on a blood thinner and had they operated, she could very easily have bled to death on the table. This was on a Friday. They had to wait two days. In those two days, they took more tests and discovered the tumor HAD shrank! How amazing! And now she's doing so much better. Just shows the power of God in our lives. It was amazing. The courageous girl had written out her speech and really broke down when she started to read it, so her mom read her speech, but she answered our questions. It was a really neat experience. Her dad, little sister, and mom were there with her. What a neat family - so strong.
Anyways, this just goes to show you how resilient adolescents are and how incredibly strong they can be. And it was neat to meet a girl who has been on my church's prayer list for 7 months.
Have a good night all! I'm off to get some food, read my book, and head to bed!
