YAYYY!!! I am getting giddy with excitement!!! I'm going shopping this weekend to see if I can get some early summer clearance clothes.

Have a good Tuesday everyone!!

Tammy......that is funny, I wondered why you were looking for a room at MCO if you're in Florida. I think that was a great rate at the Raddison, our 1 suite to accomodate just my family was $189. I have read on these boards that you need to book your shuttle to the port early (like now) to make sure you get the time you want. If you did not call the hotel directly and do that you might want to before all the good times are booked up.

Already bought my boys some shirts yesterday on the clearance rack. Bought them suits when Lord and Taylor when they went out of business a few months back. I am pondering the thought of trying to give everyone their own small (carryon) suitcase and that is it! Always a challenge. Of course I always will have my one empty suitcase to fill with alcohol before we get on the boat. This is always good to pack all of our "junk" we buy on the way home.

We have rented a 15 passenger van both ways that was only $175 combined for both trips. I have to admit getting the transfers is tempting, but we can not justify the cost for 11 people.

Woohoo, must be getting close!! These seem like details PEOPLE!

Missy

Missy, you are right abt the van vs. the transfers. Since we are only 3, transfers it is.

Can someone remind me by e-mail or pm what the site for the T-shirts & stuff we can order is? Do we supply the artwork and they print it off on the T's or whatever? Is this the place that had visors, too?

Christal, there should be some good 4th of July sales. I'm partial to the 70-80% off after Labor Day at Dillards. Got shorts last year for $3-5 each. And a bunch of stuff for DH.

Working out the details is FUN...

UGH!! :sad2: just found out from the Radisson they don't take any reservations till two weeks pior to date needed :sad2: Well, I marked my calendar and wrote all info down but talking about a major thing that cannot be forgotten :sad2:

Speaking of alcohol. What is the best way to pack it? We're flying the morning of the cruise. Do we pack it in our checked luggage or our carry on? I need help. Alcohol on the ship is TOO EXPENSIVE. 15% gratuity!!! I'd rather bring our own.

HOWDIEEEEEEE

Jen, My thoughts on the copyright, those graphics are on the internet so they are free game to use, unless it specifically states not to use them, and I still do not think that it would be a problem to use it on your own t-shirt. If you were making them and selling them, then you might have a problem.

Of course this is just may opinion and does not necessarily reflect the opinion of the internet site. :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

The thought about wearing some bright colored yarn on our wrists was a good idea , but to expand on that we could have someone make some cool beaded bracelets in a bright color (maybe something manly).

I am still up for wearing the t-shirt that Jen designed with the flip-flops on it. Works for me.

Does anybody remember what day it is we are supposed to be leaving.. :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Tammy....mark your calandar! Let me know what you get.........what the heck maybe DH would pick you up for tips!!! :confused3

We just stop before we get to the port and pick up a couple cases of beer, some booze in plastic bottles, case of bottled water, and a case of diet coke (the Captain's best friend as I see it). We don't fly with it, so I don't exactly know how you would go about packing that. You always run the risk of breakage if you pack glass. I know a lot of people on these boards complain that they have had liquid spill on their luggage..........

Missy

See therein lies the problem. We're flying and then taking DCL's transfer to the port. So can't stop. Have to fly with it, don't think we could wait till we get to a port to purchase.

One idea I had was to get a insullated collaspable cooler and stick the bottles in that and then majorly wrap it in plastic or just individually wrap each bottle in bubble wrap and then put it in the center part of our suitcases that zippers shut that way they can't roll around, plus our suitcases are hard so I wouldn't be concerned about luggage getting smashed.

Steve, can you remind me what day we are leaving? Oops, I just remembered. :rotfl2:

Just thought I'd stop for a sec to say hi to all... and re-introduce myself. We're from Manhattan, KS (so avid K-State fans!!)

Susan(33) - Stay at home mom, run our company out of the house.
Dave (42) - Self employed - move mobile homes
Courtney (13) - Stubborn teenage girl!! Should have been a boy... loves anime, computers, gameboys, neopets, Runescape (online game).
Kiley (11) - All girl... thinks she's older than her older sister.. acts like it too!! She's into gossip, talking with friends, all that teenage girl stuff!!
Nathan (6) - A miniature Courtney for the most part.. loves baseball... wants to be a football player for K-State when he grows up.
Joshua (4) - Shy, momma's boy. Can be goofy but usually he'll be clinging to my legs whinning!

We're going with my mom and my sister's family of 5. They're from Columbus, OH. I was raised in Columbus for most my life (except the few years we lived in Colorado Springs... where I meet DH).

I try to keep up with things here on the boards but things have been busy this summer.. my husband's parents who live in Manhattan also just had their 50th anniversaray last weekend, so I was helping out with that, my Nephew who's going on the cruise with us (15) will be here in a few days to spend the 4th with us (we usually go all out.. DH is a pyro). We're going to Colorado for a week in about 3 weeks with DH's parents, camping part of it... cabin for rest of it. DD's going to be going to Girl Scout Camp the week after we get back from Colorado, then only a few weeks till school starts again (Aug. 18th). And the next thing you know it's CRUISE time!!!! YEA!!! :Pinkbounc

Well that's my life in a nutshell!!

I'm for any type of shirts.... pins or whatever... I'll have to keep watching to see what we come up with!!

KSU Mom, Great to hear from you again!!! Keep chiming in, even if it is short. Are you with sillymemaw? Where has she been? Tell Penny hello from us!

I have the design for the shirts and have typed some type(?) to go with it. I will scan it at my dad's this afternoon and try to have the stuff on that website tomorrow (Wendy, it is http://www.cafepress.com/castaways2006 to see verandah man's stuff) It's free to try it so we may as well put it out there and see what we think. I think that if we use the site there is a copyright issue (hopefully not with what I did) but if we do it ourselves there is not (is, but there probably won't be copyright police to throw us into Mickey Mouse copyright jail on board)!
Trisha and I (families) are getting a van to take us to and from port. If anyone wants to go in with us, that is fine. I think they are 12 passenger vans (just have to make sure there is room for the luggage. We wanted to take a limo but the luggage issue popped that bubble!

Hi everyone! I managed to read the posts last night without time to reply. Let's see if I can catch up....

The website was really for pins since they seem to be strict about the copyright law. They said that EVEN if you use it just for YOURSELF, the act of uploading a picture could be considered copyright violation. Not wanting to get Jen into trouble, I don't think this is a good idea. Now we could look at a new design maybe with lots of flip-flops all over where one of them just happened to have a hidden Mickey.... It could still say Flip Floppin' Castaways.... Or... my original idea was just to use the site to buy the pins. If Jen could come up with a pin friendly design - I'd buy the pins and hand them out to everyone - gratis! We could still use the iron-on's for the T-shirts. And if Jen *hint* *hint* could come up with a bigger pin-friendly design, she could upload it for those people that want a tank-top, polo shirt, etc.

Speaking of which - I just found white T-shirts at Albertons at 5 for $10. So, for $2 each, I got shirts for Nana, DD and me. DD's is a bit big but I figure it'll be a great swimming cover-up (and actually that's probably the ONLY way Nana will wear hers).

Now - on to the next topic. Welcome ksumom! You have an AWESOME :cool1: name (okay, so it's mine too...).

And next - the bio!
Sweet Sue (41 - OUCH!) - some kind of manager (new job, so I don't know the official title yet) at Motorola, silly (often), former computer geek (lost some brain cells when they made me a manager), single, work-way-too-much mom
Nana - semi-retired, loves pearls, diamonds and good wine. Absolutely will do ANYTHING for family. Great friend.
DD4 - Christina - lovable, sweet, determined (stubborn), social butterfly who has a few extra challenges in life
DB - RacerRex (36) - some techie job at Netgear, party animal, hates "chat" boards.
DSil - Erin (30 something) - brand new cool job at new company started Monday - let her give the details! Goes along with EVERYTHING (has to - being married to DB and all...)
DN - Tyler (10) - baseball nut, baseball, baseball, baseball....

Gotta run - dinner is almost ready (oh yeah, self-proclaimed great cook - looking forward to the kitchen tour more than the bridge tour!)

Sweet Sue

Hey everyone,

Well, I had my follow-up visit to the doctor today. The monitor did record PVCs (what he diagnosed with me earlier) but did not show that they were the result of anatomical or genetic maladies. I'm to take the beta-blocker as needed (prn for your medical types ;)). He says a lot of people have these and just don't feel them, so I might need to accept that I'm just one of those folks who can feel them. I was glad they monitor showed they were real. He doesn't think I've got mitral valve prolapse, but if the PVCs keep up and medication doesn't help, he said we'd do an echocardiogram to officially rule out the MVP. (He listened to my heart a couple of different ways than normal - laying on my side and squating - but didn't hear it). I trust this doc very much - he's my best friend's FIL, so I feel better after the visit. Thanks for the :wizard:; I'm glad it's nothing major. And, when I run out of the samples for the Toprol, he's giving me an Rx for generic. :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

To be honest, the talk about the pins has me lost concerning why or why not (lol) we're allowed. I don't want to break any laws, no matter how silly they seem to us, so if we get the pins or the shirts, I'll all for it. I also vote for the least amount of work for one person - meaning I'd rather the "work" of getting the pins/signs is evenly distributed and doesn't fall on Jen exclusively. I like the original FF shirt, but if we can't use that, no problem.

Jen, for getting the words on the pin/shirts, I did that with the paint program that comes on Windows systems. I just used the transparent text box feature to get the words on. If I wanted the words to be wavy or whatever, I typed out the words in Word and then copies and pasted into the paint image. Then I uploaded; I don't know of any other way to do it than this. :confused3

Okay, I'm off to do... something. Probably read out on the big boards. I'm glad to see people popping in! Our flight gets in Saturday at 8:20, and we're taking the DCL bus to PC. On the way back from PC, we're taking Disney transportation to Pop Century (hopefully not a dinky Mears bus, but we'll take what we can get), and then we're taking Magical Express to the airport Sunday for coming home (boo hoo hoo). I think it'd be fun to come in the night before, but we already racked an extra $100 in fees for changing our original flight home to Ohio from Saturday to Sunday when we decided to head to WDW for the night. So, no one-day-early arrival for us.

KSU, are you Missy's sister? Just wondering because of the Columbus connection...

TTFN!

Jenny - AWESOME dr. visit! I'm so happy things look good for you. Whew!

Sherrie - forgot to say HURRAY! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc on the last post - I really hope you can swing it :wizard: :wizard: . Hope you have a great weekend and get some good R&R - you deserve it. :flower:

Jenny (again) - let me see if I can straighten out this copyright thing. It is illegal to try to sell any image that is copyrighted. It does not matter if you took a picture of that image (like a picture of Mickey with your family). The picture is protected because it contains a protected image. You can't assume that just because it is on the internet it is free game - unless it specifically states that it is free to distribute. Using an image you have for personal use is okay - to sell it is not. This is where the website that sells pins and T-shirts becomes a problem. Even if you give them away, just by posting a picture on the internet site, it is an implied intent to sell. The person that uploaded the picture could get into trouble.

I agree we should share the work. :cheer2: So, I'm happy to help with the pins. Just don't ask me to make the picture. I really suck at pictures. I can take lots of pretty photographs but don't make me draw anything. YUCH. I can do lettering though... Cause of the legal thing, I think it'd be better if the pins don't have Mickey on them. Unless we can find "make-your-own" pins somewhere! :Pinkbounc

Jen - If you have any kind of imaging software, you should be able to use that to enter lettering. I know Jenny used paint (awesome girl to work so hard for us). I've used various photo softwares along with powerpoint, visio, etc.

I can't believe it's only 11 weeks and 4 days until our cruise. WOOHOO!!!! This group really keeps me excited about the trip. You're a great group of freinds! :grouphug:

Sweet Sue

Hello again everyone! Good news, Jenny! That's great!! :cheer2:

MVP is what I have. Usually the flutters are the worst thing for me. I do have to get antibiotics for dentist visits and stuff like I said before, and I had bacterial meningitis when I was 19, probably from an infection that got out of control, but they never determined for sure the cause of it. But it wasn't fun. So I'm glad your doc is running all of the necessary tests to rule stuff out. That way, whatever it is, you're prepared to take care of yourself. :goodvibes

As for the shirts/pins, whatever you all want to do is fine with me. I would just hate to have to lose the design we really like just for the sake of copyright. I totally understand the website's policy regarding copyright, and I respect it. But if that's the only thing standing in the way, I say we just all do the ironing-on ourselves and that way we don't have to worry about copyright...just my 2 cents! But I can also inderstand if some would rather not do that too! I'm just along for the ride!! LOL :moped:

I'm just sitting here countin' down!!!

OK, now I'm headed for beddie-bye. I've been up WAY too late the past few nights, and tonight I vowed to get to bed early! Yay!! Looks like I'm gonna make it!! :cheer2:

Good night all!

I was just thinking... our local grocery store makes buttons! Missy, are you familiar with Buehler's? That's the one I'm talking about, and I know there's a store in Delaware and Coshocton. I'm not sure how much it costs, but I'd be glad to get a price and let you all know. I think it's $3.99 a button, but I'm not sure about that. They're the normal size buttons that you see being sold at your kids' sporting events. If the price is right (lol), Jen could send me the image for the shirts in miniature, and I could get a button made as a prototype and post a pic on the web. If you like it, I can get a bunch made and you all can pay me back on board. I can bring them down with me and then our official FFC greeter Sweet Sue can distribute them! :)

What do you think?

Hey my friends! It really feels like it is right around the corner, doesn't it? My DH got his schedule for the next 12 weeks today so we will sit down and try to figure everything out this weekend. He called tonight to try to talk abt it but DD thought we should make 4 packets of green (her fav) jello, so I was a bit busy....

I am neutral abt the T's, but want to be as low maintenance as possible, so whatever is determined to be the easiest is super with me. I will tie green yarn around my wrist on Saturday and I'm uh, on the short side, and I'll be wearing a bright halter dress if I can fit into it (to make up for the mortifying boarding photos from last year -- I skipped the sail away party to shower, if that gives you an idea). DH is taller 6'1" and I'll get the grn yarn on him and DD so PLEASE talk to us. We are so excited.

You guys are wonderful. Tawk soon. W.

TTFN!

Not Missy's sister, my sister's name is Lisa but still lives in Columbus. She's 34, her DH is 33, DS(15), DS(3 1/2), DS(1)

I have chatted with Missy via email re the Columbus connection.. pretty small world!!

Susan (ksumom),

Your Courtney and my Emily sound like they would get along great. We'll have to hook them up.

Oh, and whoever was telling me they thought we could still get on Lord Sheffield's... I'm going to check them out and see if my husband wants me to book that.

Karen

Morning everyone,
Will be gone most of the day. Taking a day of personal leave for a break. Hope everyone has a good day.

Got a Castaway Club Islandgram yesterday. The one that shows you how to make the towel swan. Sure like I could do that.

Later everyone,
Emily
