Sept 17 2005 Magic - am i alone on the ship?

Welcome to Mark and family, and Virginiafamily

Mark it is good to see another male on the thread, get some testosterone(sp?) going in here. Was going to insert manly smile here but could not find one so everyone use your imagination.

Wonderful job on the website Jen. :cheer2:

Tammy - If you do not have a room number they make you stay in the engine room the first night until they can figure out where to put you.... :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Hey Pam, my wife Trisha(getoutthere) is a big Cardinals fan, along with alot of other people in southern Illinois

Have a great day all and God bless

I thought I'd bring this out of the dark ages!! I couldn't get the link to go to the page & post number... so here it is.... again!

Welcome WinMO! Glad to have you aboard.

Again, this may be information overload, but here's some information for your consumption (taken from various posts to make it easier to pass on info to newcomers, also known as new-we're-SO-glad-to-have-you-comers"):

OUR GROUP'S NAME:
We are calling ourselves the Flip Floppin' Castaways (FFC for short).

WHO WE ARE:
You can get a sneak peek at our beautiful faces in jennat (Jen)'s signature line. She has a link to the pic gallery for some of us. Send her your family's pic if you'd like! You can also PM Jen for a list of the names of all the adults and kids we know to be DISers cruising with us, stateroom #s, occupations, cell #s (in case of crazy circumstances due to weather), shore excursions, etc.

FFC MERCHANDISE:
Also in Jen (jennat)'s signature line, there's a link to the online shop where we are buying shirts with our logo on them. Lots to choose from.

DOOR SIGNS:
Who wants the Flip Floppin' Castaways door sign? I think if everyone would be willing to pay $2 for the sign, that would cover the cost of the ink and magnetic paper. Here's the link to check it out: http://www.photodump.com/direct/atsjen/FFCDisney2.jpg

If you ARE interested in the FFC sign, PM me so I can start making a list of who wants the signs. I'll need to know:

1) Do you want real names or screennames on the sign?
2) The names of all the people you want on the sign.
3) Do you want where you're from on the sign? (The one posted doesn't show that because I'm not sure we're putting our home city/state on there)

I will print them out on the magnetic paper and bring them with me in Sept. I'll hand them out at the first DIS meet (thereby sneakily creating more incentive for us to meet you :goodvibes ).

MEETS ON BOARD:
Sat 3 PM Mickey pool, deck 9 - wear green yarn on your wrist so we can ID each other. Sweetsue's daughter will apparently come racing toward you with her walker to welcome you officially to the Flip Floppin' Castaways cruise. :goodvibes
Sun 1 PM atrium lobby deck 3 for cabin tour. We're going to walk around and look at each other's cabins to see the different styles and plan what stateroom category we want next time.
Wed 4/4:30-6 stateroom 8080 - sweetsue (Sue)'s stateroom for her birthday party in one of the suites!

I am making reminder signs (1 per stateroom) to list all the meets. I decided to punch a hole in the top and give everyone a suction cup with a hook hanging off to hang the sign on a wall, mirror, verandah door, etc. I figured that was better than handing people a piece of paper that would get lost amidst all of DCL's "less important" documentation. :rotfl:

As of July, this is all the pertinent info. I'll update this post as necessary.

I'm getting all my dates & times in my palm pilot for the cruise!! Very close!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :Pinkbounc

Welcome aboard Mark and family!

Welcome aboard virginiafamily (did I miss your IRL - in real life- names?)

Thanks Susan for resurrecting my "everything you need to know" post. 1250 on page 84! :)

Yes, the site has sick smilies. :confused3

So far, the cabin tour participants are as follows:

Shmora
5509 – category 11, deck 5
5513

4kidsandadog
8516 (maybe if hubby gives the okay) – category 2, deck 8

KSUmom
2622 – category 9, deck 2
2624
2660 (Susan, I hate to break it to you, but I don't think this cabin exists. :confused3 I looked all over the ship lay-out and couldn't find it....)

NoWorriesMate
7560 – category 5, deck 7 - our neighbors! HOW FUN!!!!!!!!!!

WinMO
will participate if/when she gets her stateroom number

Crusin’Lattas
6102 – category 6, deck 6

Tammy1
will participate when she gets her stateroom number

Donaldsgal
7058 – category 5, deck 7 - um, sort of HAS to participate since it was her hair-brained idea.

Whoever said something about seeing one cabin per category... never thought of that! Sort of obvious, but I never considered it. We can do one per category, since, as Renee said, we're touring to see the room, not all the junk we lug into it. (Just hit me that lug is short of luggage - sort of paints a new picture of luggage - I always imagine the suitcase rolling fashionably behind me but really I'm LUGging it behind me, straining toward security/the ship/WDW. :)) Anyways, what do you guys think? I want to include everyone that wants to participate, whether or not your category/deck is already represented.

Stressful day at work. Now I have to figure out my finances. Yuck. I'll check back in later!

Hey all! Wow! Good to have new people. Welcome all! My e-mail it mjcrouch@4dv.net if you want to send me pictures. If you send me your e-mail (s) I will send you a list of everyone, their pic (small) and enough info to assume their identity (my running joke). New people tell me a little about you and your family so I have something to write or send me a bio too.
Jenny, you can tour our cabin. 2148 (or is that Trishas :rotfl: )...we also need to figure out a meeting spot so I can put it on the site (Thanks Karen!)
Virginiafamily....When my son was five and on board, he NEVER wanted to be with us....DARN! Hopefully they like it now that they are older.

Whoever was looking for a suit for their boy, I;m telling you, check out e-bay. I am soooo excited and there were a ton. $15 for the whole kit and kabotal. Yee Haw!

It is so fun to have all the posts to catch up on but you forget what everyone said!

There are some updated pics on the site from 4kidsandadog and Shmora. Check them out. Things are rolling in so I 'm sure it will be constantly updating.

Where are Sue and TammyG and Christal? IT has been a long time!

Going to Estes tomorrow for the weekend. I still want to hear about your trip Susan. I'll check in later.
And Mark, it is good to have more testosterone. we have a lot of male readers who pop in occasionally....Be nice and say hi to the man, John and Paul (they are our resident Beatles :rotfl2: )

Jenny, DH and I would like to participate in the cabin tour. We are always trying to get a peak into other rooms to see the differences. We are in Cat. 9 room 2056. I see that there are already other Cat. 9's participating but we would be glad to show ours if need be. Whatever you decide is fine by us but we will certainly be tagging along to see the different categories.

And welcome to all who have recently joined our group. You first time cruisers are in for a real treat. This is our 8th Disney Cruise and I swear I get more excited everytime! I just cannot wait! I am worse than a little kid and DH is just as bad. He is keeping track of how many days are left better than I am.

Donna

I added Jen and Donna to the cabin tour. And Jen, the infamous post 1250 should state (I'll go back and doublecheck and add if necessary) that the meeting place for the cabin tour was the lobby atrium on deck 3 - first place we step foot on once they announce our names!

ETA: Susan, got it! :) You may want to let Jen know for the spreadsheet because it's listed as 2660 there too.

My, my you guys are really keeping me busy just trying to keep up with your posts!! I'd say you are all a bit excited about this cruise!!
Welcome to Mark & family & Virginia family. I think before we cruise we're gonna have everyone on the ship in this group!! But that's great, the more the merrier!!

For those of you who may not know, I'm the "Memaw" of KSUMOM's & PRINCESSLKMiller's kids, making a total of all of my grands 7!! I"m really getting excited also about this cruise, too and especially being with almost all of my immediate family, with the exception of DH & DD (youngest). :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc
Jen, think I will send you a better picture of me only, or maybe with DH. And I think Lisa(PRINCESS) is sending you one of her & family. And again you did a superific job on the web site. It is so enjoyable to view and listen to the music. Relly gets you in the "cruising" mood!! :cool1:
I also have been doing alot of cruise shopping. Found the "perfect" formal that I've been looking for for weeks. It just jumpede right out and said "buy me, I'm the one for you"!! Got it at Marshall's, a $179. Jones New York for $36.!! :cheer2:
I saw that Susie (KSUMOM) posted our cabin #'s. I didn't even know what mine was, still don't know which is mine!! I am so glad she is our family's cruise co-ordinator!!
All of you guys sound so nice, just hope I can keep up with all you "young chics"!! Can't wait to actually meet you all, & like Lisa(PRINCESS) said if anyone close to Columbus wants to have a pre-meet, I will go with her.
Well, guess I have bored you enough for now. See ya soon!! :grouphug: :grouphug:

I think all the little "dodads" are getting tired or something. I think we have worn them out, I guess. I put alot of them in my last post, but they didn't show up!!??

Pam, I grew up in Kansas City and my family mainly hails from Boone County -- 7 or 8 generations - so I'm abt as Missouri as a person can get. I tend to favor the West side teams (Chiefs and Royals), but also cheer for Cardinals and Rams when I can. I went to KU, much to the chagrin of my entire family, as you can imagine, but I loved it. Yet, I still find myself rooting for Mizzou when they are playing anyone but the Jayhawks. So, not your typical KC side/St. Louis side fan. Guess cuz we are really central Missourians. Now I live in extreme SW MO -- 65 miles SW of Springfield. DH is from Michigan. Anyway, I'm all for the glory of the state! Do I sound like a Texan or what? Geeze.

My TA called to get us early seating and they told her don't call for 3 more weeks -- I'm going to call her tomorrow and ask her to call again.

Jenny, I'll probably want to go on the tour, but you have enough Cat. 9's I think.

Well, I'm pooped and have another big day tomorrow. I did call my pharmacy and ask them to order some transderm scop's for us. And I got DD some cute stuff for next summer dirt cheap at Famous. I'm going to be in serious trouble if I don't stop eating -- nothing will fit, I'll be wearing my FFC T to formal night -- oh yeah, it's tight too!

So...y'all have a great night and I'll check in manana. :p

Holy Moly! I may not be able to work anymore until the cruise. I leave for a few hours and their are 3 pages of posts. Today I got everyone's good shoes to wear with their formal clothes. Now all I need is agood outfit for each of my boys and a pair of good shoes for my dress and I'm ready! I think. I need to have my formal dress hung up though.
I now need to help my mom get ready because she just moved and she can't find anything, not even birth certificates. Oh, she is a piece of work, she drives me crazy. She is not an organized person at all. Well, as usual I just got home from work so I'm going to go to bed. No, I first got to order birth certificates online for my mom and step father. I will have two more kids on the cruise to worry about.
Oh, Thank You Jen for telling me about ebay for clothes but my one son wears extra large adult sizes, he is no boy! My other boy wears adult male small stuff, can I find these sizes on there also. E-bay scares me because four month ago my son got a motor off of there and we are still trying to get it sent to us. We have the Attorney General on it now, it cost $400.00. It was also from a business and they still screwed us. Well, I will keep talking so I must go. i get like that when I'm tired. Talk to you tomorrow!

Lorra

I still do not have a cabin number! I called today but no luck. I can't wait to find out where we will be. I'm prob driving the TA nuts. I spent the day cleaning my carpet.
I have 2 more bedrooms to do tomorrow. I really wanted to finish but it didn't happen!
Can anyone tell me which night is formal and which is semi-formal? Oh well, it is past my bedtime!-Donna

Does anyone know which night is which for dinner? Formal/Semi-Formal... I know I've seen it somewhere.. but I'm trying to pin down my calendar.. also Character Breakfast... so far I have CB as Sunday, SF as Sunday too, and FN as Thursday.. am I right??
:confused3

I think we posted at the same time!! Great Minds Think Alike!!! :rotfl:

Renee, I think you'll be happy with 6102. How many of you will be in it? 3 of my kids slept in it; we just had the twin beds pushed together as 1 and my oldest took the convertible sofabed. The verandah is great. We spent a lot of time on on it. As far as location... it's closer to the aft elevators. If you need to do laundry, it's on the other side of the ship. (One bummer about deck 8, where we will be this time... no laundry.)

Karen

Kusmom, Formal night is on Sunday night and Semi Formal is Thursday. At least that how I have it. As far as the character breakfast goes.... not sure, trust me there are smarter ones than myself going that will answer for you. :rotfl:

Steve, if it's in the engine room they better have this hugh discount for Tammy1 ready to apply in on board credit!!! With a FREE cruise to boot!!! :goodvibes :rotfl2:

Does anyone know where I can find a Mickey tie??? DH comes out of the blue and says...I need a Mickey tie!!! :rotfl: This is the guy who doesn't want to spend any $$$ for anything :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

We want to try and get Christmas cards done on board..

This weekend it's closet cleaning to see what we have and don't have :wizard: It will probably be me that needs the most... even though I'm not a big shopper...lucky me!!!

Well just had to pop in and say hello, well 36 days left we are going to have a BLAST!!!! Cannot wait!!!

:rockband: :dancer: :boat: :drinking1

I tell ya, this cruise is all I am thinking about. I'm really obsessing over it. I guess it's a good thing because it keeps me from constantly worrying about other things. I always say that half the fun of vacation is looking forward to it. I really don't understand why some people surprise others with a vacation. I feel that the recipients are being robbed of the joy of anticipation.

Silleymemaw, I know I can't keep up with these "young chics" and don't plan on trying. If you want a break from your lovely family and some conversation with other grandparents you will find DH and me lounging on the shady side of deck 4, at the adult pool, or in Cove Cafe.

Donna

It takes me all morning to catch up with all the posts! I guess it is more important that getting my work done:) Just don't tell my boss!

I am so glad I joined the group! You guys have gotten me very excited about the cruise! I was up with KSUmom last night on the phone trying to get our calendars all updated!

Do you have to wear a tie for Fromal night? I am pulling teeth with DH to even get him to wear dress pants and a nice shirt! He says he is there to relax, not get all dressed up! As for me, I can't wait for formal night! I was not going to make my little guys (1 & 3) wear a tie, but now I might. Whoever posted the idea about the mickey tie...wonder if I can find them for the little guys? My oldest (15) has a tigger tie that I told him he has to wear! What is it with boys?!?

You will find out what time your character breakfast is when you get your dining tickets. We started out in Animator's Palate on the first night and our Character Breakfast was the next Morning. I think they do them the first 3 mornings...Makes it confusing when you are in Shutters trying to find the photos.

Off for a conference call. ::MinnieMo

Character breakfasts are on sea days and are determined by your dining rotation. Last year our rotation was PLA and our CB was on Thursday. It was awful thanks to Hurricane Jeanne. The kids were sick. We got to see Goofy and that was it. We spent most of that day in our cabin. :guilty:

Speaking of Hurricanes it looks like Irene is heading toward us instead of Florida this time! Should be fun.

Gotta go
Tracy
