Sept 17 2005 Magic - am i alone on the ship?

What time do you plan to arrive at the port? We have our Limo scheduled to pick us up at 10am at the airport hotel on Saturday... is this enough time??

Also does anyone know what types of juice are onboard? Is pineapple available??

Tracy, when did you book? They still won't give me early seating.
We booked in December (before the 50% off expired).

It sounds like we were on the same cruise last year. DD and I were fine on Thursday, DH had to leave our Palo brunch and go back to the room, but he put on the patch and once it kicked in (abt an hour) he was fine. This year, we aren't messing with it -- wearing the patch from the get-go. Of course, DD is too young for it, but she was fine last year, just got sick in the car on the way home (after flying). Things that make you go "hmmmm".

7058 – category 5, deck 7 - um, sort of HAS to participate since it was her hair-brained idea.

We are in 7063, almost directly across the hall from you!! Do you happen to know what is located in the 'blank' area directly across the hall from you, aft of the elevator lobby and forward of our room? Just curious.

TeaforWendy

We originally booked for the 9/25/05 sailing in October and had early seating on that cruise. We changed to this cruise around December as well. We were put on the waiting list for the early seating when we switched cruise dates. How many kids are in your group and what are their ages? I wonder if we got early seating because there are 4 kids in our group (ages 3-8). I remember hearing if you have small children generally you are put in the main seating unless you've requested the late seating. Last year we requested the late seating - duh.

Tracy, I think it just depends on when you book. We booked our last cruise about 6-9 months ahead of time and they told us early seating was already booked up. We were unable to switch when we got on board as well. We had 4 kids ages 3-11 at the time.

I'm wondering if we'll get tablemates this year. Last year we just had one table for our family and no one else to talk to. (Not that it's a bad thing... but we enjoy meeting new people!)

Hello again.
We are getting very excited about the upcoming cruise. My name is Rebecca, DH-Jim and DD-Dacey. We are on deck 7, cat 5 and room #7060. We are from Woodbridge, Va(about 25 miles from DC).
I have bought a Cinderella costume from my DD from a small costume store online. She has all the costume from the Disney dress-up princess box but they are alittle small for her so I'm only bring the Cinderella one(I also got a rhinestone crown and am working on the slippers).
Could anyone tell me about the theater? Is it very crowded, can you see and hear from the side or back? Is it hard to get a sit? My DD has never been to a live show.
Also, does anyone know what characters you see onboard? We love the standard but my DD is a huge princess lover and we feel kind on guilty about not going to WDW and having ALL the character meals.
Thanks for all the help
Rebecca

Rebecca (virginiafamily), Mark (MSWint), and Michelle (NoWorriesMate) ---

we're all right there together on the ship! How awesome! That makes me really excited. Rebecca, you are our next door neighbors! :) Do you guys smoke? We don't, so you won't have to worry about smoke from our verandah onto yours. Our dad is a smoker, so we can deal with it, but smoking makes a lot of people on these boards upset, so I thought I'd reassure you that you've got at least one set of non-smoking neighbors. :) And if you smoke, just blow it toward the other cabin! :rotfl: Mark you're one up and across the hall from Rebecca, and on the other side from you and one down is Michelle! That'll be great! Don't worry, I won't be knocking on your doors; I just think it's neat that we're all so close together.

Mark, I'm not sure what's in the empty space across from me and in front (or back?) of you. We were in stateroom 6080 on the Wonder in 2001, and we had a similar set-up (no room across from us). It was nice because there was low traffic flow and it was quiet. :)

Friendly reminder about door signs - see post 1250 on page 84 of the thread. Also, Wendy, I've got you down for the tour as a see-er, not a shower. :) And Jen, you're on the list too!

I'm off to find something representative of my adolescence for my weekend class. Sheesh - that's a lot harder than I thought it would be.

(THIS SECTION EDITED BECAUSE I WAS WRONG :earseek: :rotfl: .) Oh, and Tracy's right; your character breakfast is scheduled based upon your dining rotation. If you eat in Animator's Palatte first, your CB is Sunday. If Lumiere's is first on your rotation, your CB is Monday. If Parrot Cay is first, your CB is on Thursday. If we get our requested rotation (PLAPLAP), our CB will be Thursday. :)

Rebecca, you will see all the princesses on the boat. They have special princess autograph sessions and photo sessions. One dress should be plenty. We are bringing Cinderella and Minnie.

The theatre is very large -- last year they offered matinees for the 3 main shows -- Golden Mickey's, Disney Dreams & Hercules. This year they stopped Hercules and have a new show. Those worked out better for us b/c DD wouldn't make it through the late show (we had early seating for dinner). We went late and never had a problem getting a good seat. They are very fun shows and very kid friendly!

We didn't take DD to the first night's show -- the Welcome Aboard Variety Show and I wish we had -- they do all kinds of neat things with the kids in the audience. It's really fun and funny. I'm sure your DD will like... We will definitely go again this year and take DD. She's 4.

I wouldn't feel bad abt WDW -- you get maximum character exposure on the cruise. There is a special hotline and bulletin board that tell you where the characters are at any given time. It's really cool.

We saw all the princesses (maybe not Jasmine), Cinderella, Belle, Sleeping Beauty, Lilo & Stitch, Mickey & Minnie, Donald & Daisy, Goofy, Max, Pluto, Chip & Dale, Genie, Queen of Hearts, Wendy Darling, Snow White & Dopey, Pinocchio, and more I can't remember, I'm sure. And you see them all A LOT. :flower1:

Real quick....running out the door for vacation or to a divorce lawyer if I don't get off the computer. I have to mark the spot to read from....
Search on line for Mickey ties....should be easy to find. Virginafamily...thanks for updating info. I have you a (and Mark) on the website but I will have to wait until I get back to update it! Princesslkmiller and sillymemaw...you guys now have your own page (with susan). John, I have a page with your name on it (for your large group) and missy and emily....don't even get me started...they do have Kinkos in Columbus!
Later all...have a good weekend and give me lots to read when I get back!

Hi everyone, well it's official, we are booked on the 11 night Southern Caribbean next year!!!! And I actually managed to get the suite. If I hadn't called them, even though they said they would call us, I might not have gotten it. Lesson learned: never wait for Disney to do something, make them do it.

Emily

It's been a little quiet on the board today. I guess everyone is getting ready for the weekend.

I can scratch another "to do" thing off my list. Got DS dress shoes at Payless. Thanks for the tip!

Thanks again Jen for the website! I love to check it out and listen to the music and can't wait 'til we're actually there! Only a few more weeks now. I wish it were tomorrow though! I'll be checking the port cam for the Wonder in the morning. I like to see it in port and think - that'll be me in a few more weeks! Yea! :goodvibes

Oh well, hope everyone has a great weekend.

Tracy

Emily, I'm totally jealous abt the 11 night. What fun to anticipate!

Susie/KSUMom, there is a whole thread on the big board abt pineapple, cranberry etc that I participated in for awhile, but when they started talking abt their magic bullets! Oh my! ;) Anyway, I think you can get pineapple at the drink stations and in the restaurants, but I don't know how you go abt getting it to mix with, say, rum?! I am bringing crystal light which I will mix with water, sprite and coconut rum from time to time. It'd be nice to know we could get juice easily or even fruit punch at the drink station but I don't remember what they have at the drink station other than the nectar of the gods -- yes, Diet Coke. It doesn't go so well with coconut rum, tho. Anyway, the thread is called Cranberry or Pineapple? I think...it's pretty active and usually on the first or second page.

I got all sorts of doo dads for the cruise today. From individual Woolite packets to pepto bismol to green yarn to waterproof bandaids. I left early this afternoon and went to AAA and Walmart -- not fun, but good to have that stuff out of the way. Amazing the stuff I didn't have last year that I didn't miss that all of a sudden I NEED this year. Silly girl. I'm just taking it up a notch, right?!

So...night, night all. check in later.

Hi y'all. Back from a long day at Six Flags Marine World. I guess I have been spoiled by Disney, because I thought the place totally stank. Couldn't find a place to sit down to eat that was clean or wasn't in a smelly area, the bathrooms weren't clean... made me really look forward to our trip in a few weeks! It is more of a thrill ride kind of place, and I am not a thrill ride kind of person. Give me the shows and low-key rides. I hope I don't have to go back there.

I am going to try to order my dress for formal night tomorrow. First I want to show it to dh and make sure he likes it. I guess I'll go shoe shopping after it comes in.

Karen

Karen, sorry you had a lousy time. Disney sure does spoil us. DH and I went to the county fair today and I said this will be the last time for that. We have gone every year but I have had enough. I will drop several thousand dollars on a cruise without blinking an eye, but boy did that $70 spent there seem like a waste. It could have gone toward spending money on our cruise. Yes, we are definitely spoiled.

Thinking on the drinking front.........I have a sister who swears by vanilla vodka and pinapple juice, I don't like vanilla anything so I can't help you on that one. Wendy, I love diet Coke with Parrot Bay or the Captain (both rum)! Had one of each last night. With a fresh lime you can not beat it!

Karen, sorry about the day at the park. I usually feel the same way at those places. Here's to hoping the kids had fun! Usually they don't notice the filth like we do.

Jen, yes we do have Kinko's here in the Buckeye state. Maybe Emily and I are just being mysterious. Maybe my husband is a cross-dresser and I am not sure if you guys can handle him just yet. Possibly I am a six foot tall, blonde bombshell and I don't want you guys to hate me because I am beautiful! :earseek: Emily, what is your "mystery"?

We have a really quiet weekend here, the kind of weekend I love! Hope all are doing well,

Missy

Hi Everybody and thanks for all the advice. It's really funny that you are next to us donaldsgal, I am a true virginian(a GRITS) but my DH is a transplant from Columbus. He's a true blood buckeye (OSU & BG). One of the most important thing he wanted on the cruise was ESPN to see the BUCKEYES. What's the saying "you can take the boy out of Ohio but you can't take Ohio out of the boy." And don't worry about smoking, my DH is a genetictist and I am a former nurse, our biggest vice is godvia chocolate.
You also are very imformal people(you know the southern thing). We don't do formal fuctions anymore. Years ago we have attended afew balls and white house fuctions so we kind of are tired of monkey suits.
This web site is a wonderful idea. Between my DH work and my DD, we never get to meet people. And we are alittle scared of being too excited and let down alittle.
Anyway, thanks for all the replies.
Rebecca

Just a quick hello before we leave for the Indians game. We were near the BOTTOM of the first page! Anyways, talk to you all later!

Rebecca, it's always good to shelve the expectations and enjoy the pixie dust as it comes, but the ship has something for everyone. I'm a bit (well, a lot really) claustrophobic in crowds and I had an "oh No" moment the very first night on the ship thinking I'd made a big mistake, but despite the full ship, we found quiet places and fun places and had a ball and we didn't really meet anyone last year except for our table mates and they had a young baby so other than dinner we didn't hang out, but nonetheless we had a wonderful time and are doing it again w/o hesitation. I'm excited to have "friends" this year on the cruise, but what I like is that our lives are really hectic most of the time and on the cruise everything is taken care of and I have very few decisions to make and the ones I do have to make are the enjoyable kind...the great thing abt the cruise is we can all be on the same boat and have completely different vacations. And each person needs something a little different from their vacations. Even w/in the same family. It's all good.

Missy -- OK, I must try the Parrot Bay with DC. I love it with cranberry or pineapple. We have some PB at the Lake. I'll try it with the DC next weekend. I've just never liked liquor in my soda. I'm strictly a beer or boat drink kind of girl. Oh yeah, and margaritas.

We are actually having an adult dinner out with friends tonight. I'm excited. Our baby sitter didn't confirm until last night, so we weren't sure. I'm having the sea bass. Yum, yum. and maybe some pb and pineapple. Or maybe water and lemon since I'm not doing so well on the diet thing. :earboy2:

TTFN, W.

Wendy.........try the Captain Silver with Diet Coke for an extra treat. It is a clear (silver) version of Captain Morgan. Always with a lime! My husband is a margarita freak.........we just buy those obviously too much work on a cruise.

Hope you have fun tonight..........love those nights out with friends as they seem to come so few and far between for us these days.
