Sept 17 2005 Magic - am i alone on the ship?

Hi everyone, I'm going shopping for cruise clothes Friday night. I'm excited. It's getting so close.

Emily

Hi ladies (and gentlemen). I shopped in my own closet and found everything I need but shoes! Clothes with tags from last year that I did not wear because of our shortened cruise! What a deal. Shoes are all I need to get for anyone in my family! I see Payless had boys dress shoes on line for 12.99. I have a hard time spending much on dress shoes for my boys as they HATE to wear them. Usually once and out they go!

We still need to invest in a new set of walkie/talkies. That is about all I want to purchase for this trip. We need to get several sets so kids and adults can all have one. I feel so much more comfortable when the kids have them when they are on their own.

Jen.... thanks for adding NaNa and PaPa to the site you did! They will be thrilled.

Karen........enjoyed the pictures of your family. Did you give your daughter back her IM yet? Let me know, my 12 year old daughter was asking me if I could set them up to talk.

Have a great Thursday all,
Missy

I just won a suit jacket, shirt, tie, tie clip and pants for my ten year old for 15.50 on e-bay. Yippeee!

Hi guys,

First of all, great site Jen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will PM you the only correction I found on our entry. I really really like it. I liked "check up from the head up"... :rotfl2:

I did my practice pack yesterday. I'll have enough room for all my goodies in one suitcase and one drag-behind-me suitcase. Woo hoo! Plus I'll have a carry-on/beach bag to take too, and a garment bag for dressy clothes.

I found a dress in the back of my closet, too! Woo hoo! When I bought it it was slightly baggy, now it fits fine. That's a bummer, but who cares? I didn't lose any weight and it doesn't look like I'm going to. You'll have to endure my large body in a bathing suit, folks. But hey, since I'm making the door signs and reminder sheets, you have to like me! :)

Started perusing jobs online tonight for the big bad December graduation. Missy, do you know of any counseling jobs in your neck of the woods? I think I'd like to work for a college as a counselor (good money, I like that population, and my kids - if I ever have any - could attend for free). That's a few years away as those jobs usually take 2-3 years experience. But I was searching searching searching - hospitals, schools, colleges, mental health agencies, private practices. I have phone books from two neighboring counties now, and probably in September I'm going to start calling and sending resumes. Yuck. Just the thought of that is exhausting. I'm realizing to get the "dream job" I'm probably going to have to put in my time doing a job I less-than love, but that's life, as my dad would say. It would be even easier if I could just get married and then I could take a cushier, more relaxing job with more cooperative clients in a private practice since I'd have two incomes to run the home on. However, that isn't happening right now, so we'll have to see. It's a double-edged sword; move to a bigger town to meet someone but spend more money on cost of living, or stay here and save money but have a harder time meeting people. Anyone have any eligible, Christian young men they care to send my way? :)

We got our FFC shirts today. Look good, fit well, filed in closet. :)

What else? Oh, I bought some beach towels online last night, the magnetic sheets, and some clothing items so people can't see through my skirts. :) Too much money! I'd like to buy a pair of denim shorts on eBay, and I emailed the seller asking her if she'd just take the bottom bid now. I obviously don't know much about eBay as she didn't respond and that probably isn't allowed. If there's no bids at the end of the week, I'll bid the bottom price and hopefully that gets the job done AND I won't need to buy another single thing at all for the cruise (except souvenirs on board and maybe one of those KTTW card holders for carrying around the KTTW on the ship and on excursions).

Anything else? Oh yeah, Missy - we were NOT shopping in Polaris last night. I laughed a lot when I read that and pictured you (or how I imagine you look) walking up to some stranger and saying, "DONALDSGAL! JENNY! Small world meeting you here!" I will let you know the next time we go to Columbus so we can see about having a mini-meet before the cruise. Don't know if we'll make it down beforehand. Can we stay at your house the night before the cruise so we can get to the Columbus airport to make our 6 AM flight? I mean, we're FFCers - that means we're practically family! :) Don't worry - I am just kidding.

Oh, DSis got tickets at her work for the Indians game this Sat night - 21 rows directly behind home plate on field level! Woo hoo!!!!!!!!! I'm very pumped. I love pro baseball, and it'll be fun to have such great seats. Her work gets seats for clients, and when no clients are in town, they get to have a pool. the seats are always good, but this will be the first time sitting behind home plate!

Wow - long post. Off to bed. Keep your ears open for jobs for Jenny and eyes open for boys for her too! :)

Again Jen - great great site. :goodvibes

Can people start listing in their posts if they want to be part of the cabin tour? That way I can get a list together so we can go in order, save time, and move in order around the ship?

I'll start - 7058 for us. :teeth:

Thanks!

Just droping in to say hi all!!

I'm counting down the days 'till Sept!! Getting SOOOO excited! :teeth:

Hey y'all... just got home from church a little while ago. We added 2 new members to our family today. Emily bought 2 small rats, 1 white and 1 black/white. They are girls, named Summer and Brooke (I really wanted Paris and Nicky, but she said that would be an insult to the rats).

Missy, Emily doesn't have her internet access back yet, but maybe in the next week or 2. I'm thinking once we get going with school this year, it will be easier to limit her time. She's already much easier to get along with now that she isn't online constantly.

Karen

Wow I missed one day and I had a couple of pages to read! You guys were chatty yesterday!

Jen - AWESOME JOB! THANK YOU SO MUCH!

I'm going through my "what to get for the cruise list" which is in my head not on paper. This could be a problem as i've lost my short term memory. Someone posted a tip about payless for boys dress shoes - and because of that short term memory problem, I can't remember who it was :rotfl: , but thank you! I guess i'll head over there for DS.

Not much else going on here. Gonna take tomorrow off :cool1: and head to the beach or movies - not sure which yet. Hey Karen D wanna comewith us? Wish those airfares were cheap again - we'd be there in a heartbeat! Miss you!

Tracy

Outstanding job on the site Jen!!!!!

I have been popping in to read so I can keep up. Too Too busy at work. I'm ready to go back to the boring life I once led. You know the one, I posted more often, kept up with things.
 :wave2: to all.
Talk with ya'll later

BRAD

If you guys do a mini-meet in Columbus before the cruise, I would love to join! I also want to be part of the cabin tour...not sure about people touring out cabin because I am sure it will be a wreck...but I would love to some of the larger cabins.

Hi Tracy, I hear the beach on the Gulf Side of Florida is awesome. I still think you should leave tonight (since you are off tomorrow) and drive down here.

Anyone having trouble with the smiles to the right? Only some of mine are showing up. Not sure if it is my computer or not.

For those of you organized and already planning what to bring... Kudos to you. I myself will wait until the week before to figure out what I need to buy to bring for me. I am still holding out hope that some magical way I will wake up one morning and be thinner (you see I did not say thin. I don't want a miracle, just some magic). Everyday I say tomorrow. Tomorrow never comes bc I am still the same weight. Okay well tomorrow. Today I am cleaning out my closet and doing laundry.

Tracy I went to ROSS and did not find anything to wear for formal night. I will head to Dillards in a few weeks to see what they have. I need a new bathing suit, some shorts, some tops and a few dresses. I have plenty of flip flops and shoes. I can always find them to fit fine.

Gotta go and get busy. I was going to say Gotta Run but that would be a joke??????!!!!LOL

Take care,

KD - karen

Almost forgot. Jen please pm me the list. Thanks. If you need any additional info from me let me know. Thanks.

KD -Karen

For those of you looking for formal wear or any cruise clothing...If you have a Filene's Basement near you, check it out. I found about 6 or 7 outfits there last weekend and spent under $300! That included shoes! I ran out of time to shop, so I called in sick on Monday and went back and bought more!

Just checkin in, I have to admit, I've been lurking for a few weeks, but it's really hard to keep up with you guys ... actually, mostly gals from what I can tell, which would explain the 1000's of posts ;)

Great web site Jennat!!! I'll try to get you some pictures of our family.

Me: Mark
DW: Kelly
DD: Savannah (9) just turned 9 a couple of days ago.

Anyway, we are first time cruisers who live in the Atlanta Georgia area (Canton, about 30 miles north of Atlanta).

Well, you can tour mine if you want but I'm in a Cat. 11 and it wil be a mess because the housekeeper (me) is going on vacation that week. My cabin is the different configure eleven,5509 and 5513 on floor 5. Is anyone else on floor 5? Please tell me it is a good floor to be on.

Lorra

Lorra, we were on deck 6 the last time. I can't imagine deck 5 would be bad. It's the same level as the kids' clubs, which I think could be a bonus. We're on 8 this time and I wonder about feeling the ship more (I hear you feel it more the higher you go).

I haven't asked hubby yet, but I'm pretty sure we can open our Cat. 2 for the tour (just hoping there isn't a ship activity we want to do going on at 1pm Sunday!). Hopefully the steward will have been by to clean up any messes my kids leave behind from the first night/morning.

Welcome to the group, Mark!

We're cleaning house today to get ready for hubby's return tonight. I'm hoping I can fit in a haircut as well.

Karen

We're 2660, 2622 and 2624 cat. 9 rooms - I'm not sure who's what room right now, but we're in those 3. Are we going to just pick one or two rooms in each cat.?

I'm also having trouble with the "Smilies"... I think it's a server problem.

Jenny you can count us in for the cabin tour (presuming the kids aew awake etc) but i think our cabin is identical to yours just on the other side of the ship (in fact we were almost neighbours but we'd been on that side last time)

oh and Jen i like your dancing lady...
