Sept. 14, 7 Day Roll Call

We usually watch the party from Deck 10 above the stage so we will be there. Which side, water or termianal? FYI for those who have not sailed before. There is a bar, Outllook, just aft of this area as well.
All of you have access to our photo so you know what to look for plus I will have on an orange shirt. I will get my feelings hurt if you don't speak at least once. I have copied our list of folks to a Word Doc and printing it out to take with me. I am going to keep up with who I meet. Anyone else making personal greeting cards (like business cards) to take with you?

Heidi, we are going to cope by booking a four day cruise while on board and start counting down for it. My son, his wife and another couple are going on the Wonder in Jan. so we get to help them plan, whether they like it or not, as well. Are y'all Cowboy fans?

All right, who's going to be on Deck 10? I am still hoping to bring the leis. I have got to see what kind of luggage room I have since we are now flying.

Russ

Russ,
The greeting/business card idea is great.....we could put our cabin numbers on them so when all need to be gathered for something festive or an emergency drink we'll know where everyone is! What else do you usually include on the card? (Beside names, hometown, etc)

Kathy & Skip

Mine will have our state flag plus a Clemson Tiger Paw, our names and state, our e-mail address and Disboard name. I include the url for the Disboards as well just in case someone does not know about it. We don't put home towns or phone numbers on our cards. We usually pencil that in during the week once we get to know folks. We have found that it helps especially if you are seated with 6 other couples at dinner. I have to go back to the cabin the first night and make notes so I can call our dinner companions by name the second night.
I amy put the 10 steps of Success In Life on the back of mine. It will give folks somthing to laugh about besides the memory of meeting me.

We leave two weeks from tomorrow.:bounce: :Pinkbounc

My husband Peter and I are going on this cruise. We just retired this year, and our 36th anniversary is on Sept. 17. We cruised the Eastern sailing last Sept. 1-8, and had such a great time, we immediately made plans for this year's trip. Looking forward to all the relaxation, exploration and EATING!

Just when I think I have a complete list another one shows up. We are glad to have you in our group. I see you are from Conn.. Is there anything else you would like to have put on your listing?
How far you from my old duty station, New London?
Russ

/
Russ, we will be on deck 10 shortly before the sail away party starts. We will look for you. We shouldn't have too much trouble finding you in your orange shirt! Hope everyone else can make it too!

While I was stationed up there in 67-68, I talked Miss Vivian into marrying me and moving up there. We lived on Cliff St. in Groton. We had a living room, a kitchen and a big bathroom. We hung our clothes on a clothes line on a pully from the bathroom window. The street came out in front of a little theater and was close to the Post Office. We hope to get back up there and see how it has all changed since we left in 68. This SC boy just about froze to death up there for two winters.
I will add you to our list.

Russ

We just got in from eating a late breakfast and had a message from DCL. They have upgraded us from a Cat. 6 to a Cat. 4. It will be the same type room but just a bit bigger the message said.

Anyone Else?

Russ:jester: & Miss Vivian:Pinkbounc

Us too.....we are Cat 4 Deck 8 fairly near the Bridge...........Is it OK to give out cabin numbers here???? or is that a No-No???

Rooms are a bit larger! That means we can eat more!!!

Kathy & Skip

Russ & Kathy you lucky dogs! It seems like the cat 6 rooms are being upgraded. We have 2 cat 8 rooms & would love to be upgraded but we want connecting rooms. I think the chances of our being upgraded are between slim & none!

We don't fly into Orlando until Sat with our flight landing at 12:30pm. That means we are going to have one hectic first day of our cruise. Even more so now that our dining time has been moved up to 5:30. I think that 1/2 hour will really make a difference. We would love to meet all of you but as I said, the first day will be rough. Next cruise we will definitely fly in the night before. Yes I am already speaking of the next cruise & we haven't even been on our first one yet. Am I setting my expectations a little too high?

Tracey
:earsgirl:

No....You are right on schedule.....always plan your next cruise right away...it helps with the dreaded PCD (Post Cruise Depression) We always discuss our next trip during the current one.....
We are flying in Sat AM from Newark NJ and our flight is due to arrive in Orlando around noon...then we have the "magical" bus ride to the ship.....(Maybe we'll be on the same bus)..so we won't be boarding until well after 1 PM...assuming our flight is on time and that's a BIG assumption dealing with Newark Airport!!!

Looking forward to meeting everyone too!

Kathy

We had connecting category 6 staterooms and were upgraded to connecting category 4s!!!!

We will be at the returning cruisers party!! I'll look for an orange shirt Russ!!

OK-- now I am getting really jealous of all the people getting upgrades!!

My Mother-in-law wanted me to ask what y'all would recommend for some "don't miss" stops in our ports. Keep in mind we have a 3YO DD traveling with us so that limits our choices. I have read a lot of positive feedback on the trolley ride in Key West. Any comments?

Tracey:earsgirl:

Tracey,

I think we are going to do the trolley rides as well in Key West and we will have our 3yoDS twins with us!! That seemed easy enough to do with the boys! As for the other ports, we plan to snorkel with stingrays, and do the Jeep tour so we will be brining the boys to the Oceaneer Club while we are on those excursions.

Renee,

I understand they give you a pager when you drop kids off at the Oceaneer Club. What do you do if you're in the middle of excursion and you get paged?

We are first time cruisers so sorry if this is a dumb question. Thanks for the info on the trolley ride. Did you book this thru DCL or on your own?
