Sept. 14, 7 Day Roll Call

Hello,
I also have been busy trying to get things ready. Not only do I have to pack for the cruise but I have to back bags for my 22 month old and 6 month old for grammy's house. All the while still trying to keep my 10 year old and 7 year old in the dark. It sure has been a challenge. This past weekend was spent running all over the place collecting the last minute supplies that will be needed. I also picked up our green lei's. I found an awesome dress on clearance at Filene's that is being altered. It was too big but I couldn't pass up the price and I just love it. My husband thinks I am crazy because I also am packing a huge list of medicines and medical supplies. Bandaids, cold packs etc. Am I the only one doing this? I just can't wait. We leave for our first leg of the trip Thursday the 12th. Yippeeeeee. Sorry, got just a little bit excited.

Paula,

As 2 pharmacists, my husband & I are also pretty much bringing the pharmacy on board with us. So no, you aren't the only one!

I am still waiting/hoping for a free upgrade from our cat 8 room. Maybe if we have our travel agent look into it & inform them that it is our 5 yr wedding anniversary. One can only hope!

Tracey:earsgirl:

Tracey,

Call your TA right away, there are still cat 4 cabins open......tell the TA to mention the anniversary.....couldn't hurt!

Kathy

Tracey,

I thought I responded to you on the Oceaneer club, but I don't see it here so I will post again! We are doing the excursions w/DCL so I am sure they can reach us if they need to. We aren't doing any real long excursions so we feel they will be fine in the club for a few hours - just like when they go to daycare only shorter! :)

It's not too early to start packing! I have all my clothes packed and most of the boys clothes packed!!! I'm so excited I can think of nothing else!!!

Hi Russ, Fellow cruisers; thought I'd share this.

Come sail with us on a Magic trip
Across Caribbean waves,
With Russ, Miss Vivian, and the rest
For seven wonderful days.

We'll hop on the trolley in Old Key West
And shoo the chickens away,
Then pause in wonder on Mallory Square
As the sunset closes the day.

We'll make our home in a nautical room
On a ship with Mickey and friends.
Then eat and swim and eat some more
And pray that it never ends.

With turtles and stingrays - a trip to Hell -
We'll visit Grand Cayman and see
That beaches and breezes and lovely palms
Is where we all want to be.

Then off to an island called Cozemel,
Where history lives with the land.
The ruins, the beaches, the caverns and more
Will beckon this traveling band.

But we must move on to Castaway Cay -
A paradise made for our pleasure,
Where sun, food and water combine to give
A day that we always will treasure.

Though Magical Moments captured on film
And stored in our hearts will survive,
The sights and the sounds of the days we shared
Will keep the memory alive.

So here's to the ship, the sea, the sand.
And here's to our motley crew -
To Gentleman Russ in his orange shirt.
And here's to me and you.

Until we sail away once again,
And cast our fate to the winds,
Let's raise a toast to the Mouse and Walt ,
Where all this Magic begins.

Jan

WoW, I have been imortilized in verse. That was great. Miss Vivian and I really enjoyed that.
I packed the masks, snorkles and fins today. I have 20 rolls of film. I am going to the attic now to get down the suitcases. We leave early Thursday week.

I spent some time today reading this thread from the beginning. It was a long time ago when we started introducing ourselves. I can not wait to meet each of you.
I am making my business cards orange so you can't forget us.

Thanks again Jan. That poem will probably make it in one of Miss Vivian's scrapbook pages.

Russ

Russ and others;

Glad you enjoyed it. I've been writing poems since I was 9
and I was born in 1947, so it's been a while. Love to share them.

Jan

Jan,

That poem is GREAT!!! I'm not a poet by any means but I love to read it...it's so creative and imaginative and just plain SMART!!!

My husband and I really enjoyed reading it....just makes us even more excited..and no we haven't EVEN started packing not one thing. We are the last minute packers ... up until about 2 the morning before packing. Might as well be cause we are like kids when it comes to vacation too excited to sleep anyway!

Can't wait to see you all soon...counting down the days!

Greg and Heidi

Jan,

That was great...such talent amongst us!

My grin is getting bigger because Russ's countdown clock is a one digit number!!!!

Paula,
How and when are you going to tell the kids about the trip? I would love to be there to see their faces. Make pictures to share later.
Russ

Russ,
My Husband and I have actually planned a treasure hunt. They will be sent a letter in the mail telling them they have a chance to win a mystery trip. Hee hee. Sorry... Any how, once they collect all the "treasure" they will each receive a trophy with their name on it. We have it so that it will be fairly easy to find everything so that (obviously) they will win. We won't tell them the destination until we actually get to the ship. I suspect our daughter Jessika will be able to figure it out once she sees the ship at the port. Daniel, our son may not catch on quite so quickly. I will take lots of pictures. I can not wait.

I wish I could see them in person when they figure out where their special trip is going to take them. I hope we get to hear about it from their point of view while on the cruise. One of my favorite things to do on last years cruise was to watch this 8 or 9 year old girl who sat at the table next to us. Her parents and older brother never showed one bit of emotion at any time but she sucked up every moment like a vacuum cleaner. I don't think she even blinked her eyes the whole trip for fear of missing somthing. Your children's experiance should be even better because I believe you are as excited as they will be.

We counted our money Monday night and we have $68.00 to take with us. What I am talking about is our coin jar. We keep a big plastic jug in the bedroom where I put all of my change. We don't touch it except when we go on a cruise. It is almost like found money. All I need to do now is find about $500 more to cover the rest of the expenses.

Somthing we put in the bag last night that you all may want to consdier are eye glass cleaners. We buy the premoistened type in the individual packages. These are great on deck if the sea mist covers your glasses. I use a spray on sun block and am constantly getting it on my glasses. Walmart, 50 for $3.00.

As for our pharmacy, we bring Bonine, our arthritus medicines, some Tylenol, Claritan, lots of Tums and a small pack of Band Aids.

THIS TIME NEXT WEEK.

Someone told me that there is no value after SPF 30 when in the Carribean or Hawaii? Any comments or thoughts?

:bounce: :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :jester:

I have a problem with skin cancers and my Dr. said SPF 35 would do me as much good as SPF 45. I have never heard that any region would make a difference. I know you are closer to the Equator thus the sun when in those two places. If you see me by the adult pool I will have on a t-shirt and a floppy hat. I am not out to make a fashion statement. I just want to hold on to my skin as long as I can. I have packed some of my long sleeve shirts to bring along as well. They are a poly/cotton with a vented back. I will wear these while ashore on excursions.
Are you ready to go?
Russ

Well...I think Russ is right. My husband Greg ...well let's just say he could be the spokesperson for chalk! lol We have been to the caribbeans approx 4 or 5 times and he HAS to wear sunscreen and it seems to help GREATLY!!! The only thing is he does have to reapply it more often then maybe when we are in the pool here in Houston. When he doesn't wear sunscreen it is not a pretty site!!

Now for the help. I invariblily (sp?) forget things for vacation and was wondering if you all could help me make a list of the importants so that i don't forget also of anything you bring to make the trip easier...like this year..we are bringing walkie talkies to (i hope) be able to keep up with each other a bit better...here's what I got so far

1..TICKETS for sure!
2 sunscreen
3. walkie talkies
4.advil
5. tummy medicine
6. camera

Help..what else...

Less than a week away!!!
