Sept 13, 2012 Dream to the Bahamas

Ahhh, 40 minutes would be so nice! We have a ten hour drive straight through, but it's usually up to 12 hours with stopping and traffic. Even so, I'm glad we can do the drive in one day when needed (usually on our way home)!

Just noticed y'all are from NC, we are too. We r leaving Wed morning for the drive down. We can usually get to Orlando in 8-10 hours, hoping for smooth roads and not much traffic for this trip. It is nice to be able to drive down fairly quickly, I hate to fly. But 40 minutes would be a dream!

Yeah, I won't fly, so I'm glad Disney is just a road trip away! The last time I flew was for our honeymoon in the Bahamas. I'm happy we can take a cruise there now (albeit a different Bahamian island, but close enough)!

We are 2 1/2 hours away. If I know my sister, she'll have us there so early we'll be witnessing the cruise coming into port that morning...lol

Safe travels to everyone. our cruise is almost here.
I am driving down tomorrow night. We are only 4 hours away. We live in Miami. =) The kids are so excited!!!! :cool1::rotfl::yay::dance3:

We are leaving in about an hour to start our journey to Florida!

Although we won't be at the meet and greet, it's been nice chatting with you all and I hope everyone has a safe and fun trip!

Haha...my sis does know me best...Trust me, if I coule sleep at port I probably would. I am going to take in every moment. From the time I get up to the moment we cross over the bridge and see the ship. I will not miss any detail. Have a safe trip to everyone that is leaving soon. Only one more work day left!:woohoo:

We are about 2 hours away - it's a fairly quick trip. Can't wait to make it in 2 days!!

Can any of you who have been on the dream before post how boarding times were? Was the wait long? I have cruised Disney before but it was on the wonder so crowds were never an issue.
Thanks

We arrived later than expected due to the Avis bus filling up so quickly. I think we finally arrived around 12:30. We waited approximately 30 minutes from the time we got to the checkin to the time we were on the ship. Right behind us there was a HUGE swell of people coming from the Disney transfers! The wait at Avis was longer than the wait at the terminal. C'est la vie.

When we arrived at the concierge lounge they had a light lunch buffet and drinks for kids and adults. They then took us directly to our room and our luggage was delivered around 1:30. We were able to give them my husband's suits and my dresses that needed pressing and they were returned by the time we got back from the muster drill hanging neatly in the closet.

We've done the Dream and Fantasy... both times we arrived before boarding started. We had the first check-in time so even though we weren't the first ones there we still got boarding numbers 2 or 3. Groups were called quickly - the worst part was trying to move through the hoardes of ppl surrounding the mickey ears holding MUCH later boarding numbers :sad1: :confused3 They really need to do something about those people! We were on the ship before noon both times.

I have heard that Disney buses come around 1 so I would try to avoid them. Our check in is always super quick... like 2 mins top... not sure what takes some ppl so long. We have our passports open to our pictures and our check in form printed and signed - easy peasy. Can't wait!!

I did a tiny bit of packing but I think I will wait til Matt gets the luggage out. Also I don't think it'll take too long since it's just a 3 night and we haven't booked Palo... so it shouldn't be a big deal to do it tomorrow night.

Ok, thanks. Was getting worried by some board responses regarding the long waits at terminals, I have a toddler and they have no patience. Might be tricky maneuvering a toddler through the hoards of people waiting to board with late numbers too, ugh.

It is tricky with rolling bags too. Mo idea WHAT their problem is!

quick question...are we supposed to attach something to our FE stuff to let the person know who left it?

Hello fellow cruisers! Can't will till Thursday. I am on deck two coming in from DC.

Can't wait:)

I am flying into Orlando on Thur.. Getting a 4 1 /2 y/o for the first time on an airplane has my mind kind of rattled right now. My son is very hyper. I think we get in at 10a.m and they we have disney ground xfers booked. We are in 1pm boarding time I think. He is like 1/2" inch short of 42".. Are they pretty strict about kids on the slide with adults ? he really wants to go on it after getting the cruise dvd in the mail. Any help is appreciated.

I remember reading on the boards that a mom was allowed to bring her son on the aqua duck with her only because she was going too. She also noted that it may not be the same rule for all the employees who work the loading area but knowing that maybe you have a chance. I have an almost 4 year old coming with me and he wants to ride it too but I think I'll be able to sway him to nemos reef.

Wohoo! Taking DD6 to school, packing, last minute running then we head over when she is outta school! Sooo excited to get back on the Dream!!!
