Sept 11 3 day Wonder? Am I the only one?

I have no clue where to meet for the sailaway, although I'd be up for it! It was such an ordeal getting through the muster drill with my dd who was 3 at the time, that we wound up being late for the sailaway party (imagine, if you will, trying to take a 3 year old with a gigantic life jacket on that prevents you from picking her up b/c you're wearing one equally as big, having to climb down tons of stairs with tons of people pushing and the alarms going off! :scared1: ). :(

Well you wont have that problem this time but next time, don't put the jacket on her until you get up to your station. They have always been pretty liberal with us. Having young kids does have it's advantages. ;)

Sad you missed the sailaway party, it's the BEST thing.

What time does the ship sail? I don't have my docs in front of me.

And Risinsun, for your first cruise, you can't miss sailaway. :dance3:

I'll have to do some digging and see what time everything is. Then figure out where to meet there. Don't the characters all come out for the sailaway party too? All I remember is lots of dancing and waving goodbye to everyone at the dock....which is no one but a worker wearing a big pair of mickey gloves. :lmao: Give me a day to figure out what time it all takes place.

Every ship has a big sailaway party. I can't remember the exact details of our Magic sailaway party.

Cruisinmama- Thanks for the advice about the life jacket!! I'll have to try that next time! ;)

Fortunately we didn't miss the *entire* sailaway party, but definitely weren't there when it started. To make up for it, though, we were front and center for the Pirate Party!

If I recall correctly, the muster drill is at 4pm, and the sailaway is at 5. I'm 99.9% sure that is correct.

We should be at the sailaway party. There is so much to do!!! I just wish I knew what time we would get into port from the resort. That would really help me out a lot with planning.

Are you taking a DCL bus from the resort? I have heard that they don't leave until around 11:30 or 12, and the port is about an hour away. We'll probably be at the port about 10 (or at least that is the plan!). I'm one of those crazy planners that has to be there as soon as possible!

My sister and I will be cruising on the 11th and would love to be a part of the fish extender exchange. Is there a list of cabin numbers for the people that are participating?

Yeah we are taking the disney bus down. We didn't want to get lost, or cause any kind of argument before we exchanged vows. I don't do well with getting lost. I hope we can get down there around one, because I have to have a prehair appointment. Meet with you guys, meet with the coordinator, have the lifeboat thing, sailaway party and then go to the first show! So BUSY!!! ARRGGHh...Friday is super busy but that is when the "wedding" actually takes place. I am so excited about giving everyone their FE gifts. I have everything almost all set to go.

Welcome! We're glad to have you join! Actually, I am waiting on a couple of cabin numbers and will compile a list on 9/1 or 9/2 and post it on here. I do have a list of participants so far, and I will update it with your name! :goodvibes BTW, do you know your cabin number?

Here's the new, updated version! :)

Alright, after looking back through everything, here is a tentative list. There may possibly be a few extra people, because some that are participating said that friends are joining them, but didn't say whether or not they would be taking part in the FE exchange. I just had a couple of questions for daltwalt. If you see this post:

daltwalt- Is it you and dh? Also, you mention your boys but I'm not sure how many or their ages (some like to do age appropriate gifts )

Ok, on with the list (the poster will be listed, and then any additonal people in their stateroom will follow along with ages of any children):

Smilingmouse- DM(mother), DF(father)

Mdhkitten- friend Jason

Lcombs- DH, DD14, DS12, DS10, DD9

Fivepin- DH

Risnsun- DH

Daltwalt- DH, DS, DS

Abfnumberten- DH, DS6

Cruisinmama06- DH, DD8, DD4

Savin4WDW- DH, DD5, DD2

Aryfaery- DS(sister)

Welcome Ary!!!!

OK everyone, the latest tropical storm was given a name...so Faye moved and now we are on to Gustav.

Gustav is *suppose* to move West of Cuba, totally missing Florida. Let's hope Gustav doesn't have a sister that's going to move in behind him.

I guess we better keep our fingers crossed huh?

Actually, I've been following another thread on here and some of these people watch storms for fun apparently!

Anyway, there IS another storm behind Gustav, although right now it's not looking like it will amount to much, but then again you just never know with storms! (Never mind, I just looked at the site again that I posted below, and now they've changed the info about the storm behind Gustav. Earlier today it was sounding like nothing, but it sounds worse now. :( ) I've never cruised during hurricane season before, so all of this is making me a tad bit nervous, but I also realize that it's out of my hands. As long as we can make it to the ship, there will be a cruise! Maybe not to where we had originally planned, but somewhere! BTW, you can see the storms on the following site, and Gustav was just a circle like the one behind him only yesterday:

FWIW, my last DCL cruise was also in September-during hurricane season. DMom was VERY nervous and certain that I’d have awful weather. We had smooth seas—no problems whatsoever. My mom went on a Princess Cruise the following January-following basically the same itinerary that I sailed. She and my Papa missed 2 of their island stops due to rough seas. Their captain said weather like they had typically happens during hurricane season.

P.S. My mom is a bit nervous too, so you aren’t the only one!

Thanks for the reassurance! Actually, I'm nervous about not being able to go on the cruise, not about the weather once we're onboard. LOL I'm just so afraid of not being able to fly down, or once we get there not making it to the port (like because roads are closed, etc). I only say the road closed thing because the person that I'm sailing with is from Orlando, and he's seen the roadways closed due to hurricanes in the past. Ugh. I guess I'm just overly worrying about what could go wrong! ;) Thank goodness I have trip insurance!

BTW- Now we're getting the leftovers from Fay! Nonstop rain for days! LOL

I am throwing some pixie dust our way so we can miss the hurricanes!!! pixiedust:

Unfortunately I'm not sure if I'm going on the cruise now or not. :( I was talking to my friend that is supposed to cruise with me, and he can't find his birth certificate! :scared1: We're only a couple of weeks away from sailing, he has no passport, and was born in CT which seems to be one of only a handful of states that you can't get some sort of rushed bc from. I really don't want to cruise alone, so unless a miracle happens regarding his bc, I don't think that I'll be joining y'all. :sad1:

WHAT???? Are you sure he can't get a rush? That is horrible!

I looked up the site for CT birth certificates. He can get it here...but it doesn't say how long.

Yeah, believe me, I've spent the last two hours trying to find a way to get him something. Basically he's at the mercy of the town that has his bc I guess! I really do hope that his bc turns up. He's cruised before, so I know that it HAS to be somewhere..........the question is where.

If he finds out that he can't get it in time, is it too late to take him off of the ressie and place my mom and dd on it, or someone else for that matter? I realize that it would involve fees, but is it possible? :confused3

You would have to do a name change and the closer we get, the harder it will be. Call tomorrow JUST to see what they say. You don't have to pull him off tomorrow but at least call just to be sure you can do it.

So yes, it's possible. Bring your daughter! I know some kids she can play with. ;)

There was a recent post on this about changing names...let me see if I can find it
