:thumbsup2 Though the lower age for GIT's is 50. However we do need some younger dedicated walkers to help us old geezers back to our rooms in case we have forgotten where they are!!!;)

I am sure Lee & I will be joining the GIT's & Geezers at some point when the late nights take their toll on us. ;) I am sure we can help get you all back to your rooms safely.

I've been reading about the drinks tasting? I am not a Tequila/Margarita lover, but I do like the odd Mojito.

I saw that too - who's up for a Mojito tasting class then! :cool1: I am....I  Mojito's!!!

Definitely .... I think if we meet up at about 6pm at the Hard Rock on Placa Catalunya, we can chat and have a drinky and then anyone who wants to eat we can book a table / tables for about 7:30 - 8:00. Does this sound about right. Can you add this to the list Noel

Thats exactly how we see it ...... a pudding is something hot you have with custard eg. syrup sponge, Christmas Pudding, jam roly poly etc. Everything else is a dessert. We are a weird nation .... and let's not even start on the whole lunch / dinner / tea thing :rotfl2:

Sounds good to me. :thumbsup2

We are a weird nation! ::yes::

And Afternoon Tea versus High Tea!!!

Palo actually do Afternoon Tea rather than High Tea. High Tea should have more of a light meal content. If we went out for High Tea when I was young we had Ham and Eggs and Chips(fries) or some such like!!

They really don't know which side their bread is buttered on do they? Just plain ridiculous.

The best drinks class we did was the Mixology class where you got to make your own cocktails ... although I only really liked the Pina Colada to drink it was great fun doing it.

Sounds like another option as well as a Mojito tasting:)

Oooh Mixology sounds good too Sarah, was that organised by DISers or a DCL thing? :thumbsup2

Definately a case of will do both not chose one here too Michelle. ;)

Here we go again. Lets hope it is settled before we all start flying. We had this threat last year too, as well as BA strikes which are also in the offing too, plus of course the good old volcano.

Oh no! :headache: I don't even want to think about it..........going to bury my head in the sand. :rolleyes1

Re: the dolphin excursion in Gibraltar:

I have enquired about accessibility and unfortunately the boat is not accessible for wheelchairs. There are 2 steps to get up onto the boat.

Just booked myself (solo) in one of the new-category-discounted-guarantee Oceanview cabins.

I sailed the EBTA last year and look forward to seeing more of Madeira and then the Eastern Caribbean part of our cruise, especially Tortola.

Hi Lynne, welcome aboard. I'm also travelling solo and have also booked a Oceanview guarantee room :) I was on the WBTA last year and loved Tortola.

hi all, ive been lurking for a while hoping i would be able to join you all on this fab cruise and i can now excitedly confirm we booked today
:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

it will be myself sarah, dh brian, dd beth age 9 and our newest princess
dd ellie 7 weeks, this will be her first introduction to our disney obsession.
we live in glasgow,scotland.

this is our first ever ever cruise, so having spent the last 4 years going to
disneyworld we thought we would of course make it a disney cruise:wizard:

looking forward to getting to know you all and making new friends:hug:

Great first cruise to start with :D It was my first cruise too when I did it last year.

We love going to sessions to and listening to Tim. He is a lovely chap and hope he is back this year. It is such a relaxing atmosphere and a great way to end the evening :thumbsup2

Hi there, welcome aboard. I am from Kilmarnock... not far away from you guys, but live near Inverness now. Any questions, ask away :)

Yes Tim is just lovely - a proper gent :) I have friends and relations in Kilmarnock. My late husband was from Kilmaurs.

Anyone interested in doing a ladies only Palo High Tea? I'm not sure how many we would need to do this but I guess the max is about 12-15? Anyone know for sure?

I would like to do this :D

We certainly used to in the good old days, though with the advent of trying to be posher or more international we used desserts or sweets(not the candy variety) instead. Basically hot desserts with custard etc would still be puddings, but called desserts on a restaurant menu. sometimes we call them 'afters' too. As in 'what are we having for afters?' We are a very odd nation.:lmao:

This is the second night of the Geezer meets. We had cookies and hot chocolate.:) Some members forgot to turn up this night and missed out!!!!

Marilyn your explanation of 'pudding' or dessert made me chuckle. That is exactly how I would describe it too. Dessert has certainly gained in popularity in the quest for being 'posh' :rotfl:

I know the GEEZER thing is for oldies, but is that a zimmer frame John is holding on to ;) I'm hoping to get along to some of your meets :)

Oh no! :headache: I don't even want to think about it..........going to bury my head in the sand. :rolleyes1

I got myself in a tizz last year as we were booked with BA then, the same as this year. I worried about it, but then realised that they won't strike in September, it doesn't affect the same volume of people outwith school holiday time and, sure as fate, we were okay !! :thumbsup2

Indeed, and John and I were at the very first Geezer and GIT get together on the 2008 WBPC. Lots of fun and laughs. I think last September's TA's group had an even better time though. Nothing too organised, just meet up at Cove Cafe after 10pm and see if anyone else is there.

I recognise one of the ladies in this picture !! We were sitting next to/chatting to her and husband at the airport gate waiting to board our flight to barcelona last year... small world !! The lady third from the left :)

Oh no! :headache: I don't even want to think about it..........going to bury my head in the sand. :rolleyes1

Me too!:headache:

Not to mention the good old Globespan fiasco for some of us :mad:

I hope that doesn't happen to anyone this year Sarah.:sad2:

I know the GEEZER thing is for oldies, but is that a zimmer frame John is holding on to ;) I'm hoping to get along to some of your meets :)

We have had a lot of fun with this photo of John with a walking frame!!!:lmao::lmao: It is actually the rail on the steps, see the other side. But I think it is so funny!!!

The one you came along to last year was rather dire. Nobody we knew was at that one at that time, and that one lady there went on and on and on and on.....about herself.....:headache: I was losing the will to live.

It is...

This is from the Independent FAQ's
Q. What impact could strikes have?

The dates specified are 20, 21, 24, 25 and 30 April; 2, 14, 15, 19 and 20 May; 13, 23 and 30 June; 1, 2, 3, 4, 15 and 31 July; and 1, 15 and 31 August.
At busy times, such as during Easter, over the Royal Wedding weekend, over the early summer half-term and in July and August, as many as 100,000 people a day could be expecting to fly to or from Spain. As a worst case, the big holiday airports such as Alicante, Malaga, Palma and across the Canary Islands could grind to a halt. There could also be repercussions for other travellers if planes and pilots are stranded out of position. However, the government in Madrid signalled last September – when air-traffic controllers walked out on a lightning strike – that it will take a hard line with any group of workers threatening to disrupt tourism, and of course the travel plans of Spanish people themselves.

Fingers crossed as 31st August is mighty close.

Yep! We get the same reaction. However, when Em was 2 months old and Sarah was 3 years old, I was flying with just me and the girls out of state... alone... juggling getting them through TSA security with zero help and handling the car seat, stroller, and rental car. Having a baby has not slowed us down, even with two! :) Curt will be flying standby from New York to Barcelona (he's an airline employee, so that's why we're doing that - to actually use his flight benefits for once --- he'll know if he's on the flight 30 minutes before it leaves, or he is looking for another flight), so there is the very real possibility I will be doing the flight alone with the girls since we have tickets. In coach. :scared1: But we will be fine. :thumbsup2 I'm going to already have Curt sign the papers for me to take the girls out of the country by myself in case he doesn't make the flight. I feel certain he will make it to BCN before the cruise leaves since we are going a few days early, but still being prepared to take the cruise without him if he doesn't.... then DCL also has the signed papers as well for me to travel with children without him. (I don't think my parents have thought of that possibility!! That will really freak them out!)

We'll have a practice run in July though - I'm taking the girls on a church mission trip out of state for a week while Curt has to work. And next week home to see my family. Have kids, will still travel! :thumbsup2

whoo mandy your very brave, you will definately need the cruise with the stress of all that.

we do have 2 older children dd 20 and ds 17. who are a really great help to us with younger children but they have decided not to vacation with us this year:rotfl: i wonder why ....Not!!

but ive already instilled the disney bug in them and they are introducing their friends to disneyworld instead.

I would like to do this :D

I'll add you to the list. :thumbsup2

That's very true.....fingers crossed we will all be ok. :wizard:

my husband has already clocked the beer/wine tasting and cigar seminar so i think it only right that i should do a tequila/margarita/mojito tasting for the team!!!:cool1:

beginning to think i should leave the baby at home with granny:laughing:

Grrr.... Speaking as a former airline employee, married to a 15+ year employee... strikes are ridiculous. Fortunately, he works for a company that strives to keep employees happy and has never had a strike. He's worked in both unionized and non-unionized departments. I hope mediators settle things soon!

Brave... crazy... same thing. :rotfl:
If some of the men are going to do cigar things... the women can get together for "play dates" onboard during those times! (And vice versa!!!)

I'll volunteer my services for drinks tasting events. In for a penny so to speak...

If anyone is interested in Mojito, Mixology, Beer or Wine tasting drop me a PM saying which they're interested in doing. I will keep a list.
