Noel -

Can you add something in about dining. If people are interested in being in the same area as other DIS'ers to send me a PM with Lead Passanger name and booking Reference and Early or Late.

I got a response for Disney today that this is all they need to put us together. :-)

Thanks !

Dan
Done!!

Plus I added a line about a potential postcard exchange which someone asked me to do in a PM.

Competely off topic... but I just read the thread about where the Magic MAY be later... and Galveston is popping up a lot! That's driving distance for us! Might be able to coerce those in my family who don't like flying to go then! :thumbsup2 Looking forward to the DCL announcement of upcoming itineraries! (Although we've done Western Carib a couple times, but always out of FL)

Here is a copy of the DIS Navigator that was made on our last cruise which should answer all your dining questions and perhaps give you an idea of what DIS activities we had on the last WBTA

WBTA DIS NAVIGATOR

On the last WBTA, I heard people once on board were able to make a second brunch reservation.
[/QUOTE

What a great job on the WBTA navigator...

We had a lot of talented people contributing their skills in many areas, agreed!!

Wow, that Navigator is amazing! Some serious work went into that! :thumbsup2

I spotted something on there and would like to know more about it and if it will be repeated. The "Geezers /in Training" meets in the evenings - what does one have to do to qualify as a "geezer" or (I assume) a "geezer in training?" Is this in some way related to the Geezer and Git group mentioned in Marilyn's signature?

Dennis and I are avowed curmudgeons. Is that close enough? ;)

Another slightly off-topic post...

On Wednesday, March 9 -- watch the Ellen DeGeneres show! :yay: The organization I volunteer with in my signature (originally founded to increase organ donor awareness) is in honor of a wonderful student I taught last year. When she died unexpectedly as the result of a snow skiing accident (while wearing a helmet), her parents made the courageous choice to donate her organs... and save five lives. Last year she turned in a poem in her English class that mentioned wanting to be on the Ellen show. One year to the day... she is...

Here is when/where Ellen is shown in your area:
http://ellen.warnerbros.com/about/whenitson.php

Our DD2 shares the same middle name as Taylor... in honor of Taylor. If you have not heard of Taylor's Gift... you can check out their website or see this touching video here.

Geezers are over 60. GIT or Geezers in Training are under 60. Geezers received gold safety pins and GITS received silver safety pins.I brought the pins!!

Just booked myself (solo) in one of the new-category-discounted-guarantee Oceanview cabins.
hi all, ive been lurking for a while hoping i would be able to join you all on this fab cruise and i can now excitedly confirm we booked today
Hi we have been booked on this cruise since doing the EBTA last year. Thought it was off because of work but happy to report we ARE going. :dance3:

:welcome: to all of you, and any other new people I missed in the last 27 or so pages. (Days I'm off work = 3 posts; days I work = 5 pages!!)

DH helped me with the pictures so here they are.

Nice work on the dress and FE! :thumbsup2 And yes, 3-D fabric paint is my friend, too.

And as I know this is one of the few boards that will have folks on it that would understand having a wee bit of a love for certain themes, I'm posting a quicky pic of a "It's not easy being green says Kermie" pie I made recently. It's only the second pie ever and the first time ever I've done any marsepine scultping, so you'll guys have to look past all of the beginner flaws and room for improvement (anxiously awaiting the arrival of some much needed tools.....). Anyway, here we go;

Okay, that is incredible!! :worship: I can't even frost a cupcake. Beautiful work!!

Mmmmmm, just finished our Shrove Tuesday pancakes here.:thumbsup2:love:
We are having Krispy Kreme donuts instead of pancakes. :cloud9:

My parents (good, old-school Catholics) have Shrove Tuesday pancakes.

I prefer a Mardi Gras pizza and adult beverages. :drinking1 Yeah, I know, pizza isn't exactly New Orleans, but I worked today and there was no way I was messing with crayfish tonight.

I am putting together a Welcome Wagon post for new cruisers. Anyone have any comments or things I should add to post below?

Fabulous, as always! You are soooo organized. Do you think you could sort out my receipts for my taxes for me?

Geezers are over 60. GIT or Geezers in Training are under 60. Geezers received gold safety pins and GITS received silver safety pins.I brought the pins!!

Well, Dennis has been asleep (read: snoring) in his chair in the living room since 9:00. Does that make him king of the Geezers, even though he's only in the GIT age group?

Another day of bathing doggies tomorrow, so I'm off to bed. Had a Bichon today who was a bigger baby than my dogs - and he bit! We had a serious discussion about his little attitude (okay, poochy, how badly do you want this treat?)!

was wondering if there is a way maybe any children on the cruise could get to know each other, if anyone is interested, whether it be through email penpal or seperate thread for kids attached to our cruise.

my dd would really love this so she could get to know friends before they meet, as she can take a while to warm up, it would make kids club and my life a lot easier:rotfl:

I think that's a great idea! My daughter doesn't have trouble making new friends, but she is a very sensitive little girl who hates to see others left out.:cutie: We could maybe do something through email.

Sarah - Do you you think it's worth adding the Pre Cruise meet at the Hard Rock to Noels welcome wagon?

Anyone interested in doing a ladies only Palo High Tea? I'm not sure how many we would need to do this but I guess the max is about 12-15? Anyone know for sure?

Is someone organizing a formal meet like Michael did last year?

When we did the Ladies Only High Tea last year on last years WBTA, even though we had 15, we were unable to reserve the private room as it was booked for another special party. I think you have to put in a request quite early. Sue, who was a concierge passenger, was able to put a request in for us. I am not sure if you are a non concierge passenger if you can book earlier than the platinum cruisers. She had us booked over a year in advance.

Yeah that sounds good. I would be interested. The calendar for the sea days is filling up fast with pyjama breakfasts, champagne girls etc. We are going to be so busy :thumbsup2

Well I guess no harm in trying to arrange it, even if it is in the main dining area & not the private room. I don't know if we have any concierge passengers on here.

Sarah (TotallyAngelic) is organising a meet in BCN at the Hard Rock.

Ok Mary, i'll start a list and see how much interest we get and take it from there. :thumbsup2

If Sarah wants me to put details in the "welcome wagon" post, I will be happy to ad them/

When you get more information, i will be happy to add it to the list as well. Just keep me in the loop.

Read pages 1-47 and perhaps the 10 most recent; apparently, catching up is more than a one-night project (figure I will just skip the original thread).

This is such a refreshing thread :goodvibes compared to one I did last year, where there seemed to be a lot of contention. My first exposure to the DIS was on the Halloween 2008 cruise (with Sarah & Tony Totally Angelic and Sandy & Tony goofprincess) - that was a lovely way to start on the Boards. I remember playing Chip It Golf and putting in Diversions with Welsh Tony and son. And I cruised last year's EBTA and Med with Sandy & Tony.

Thanks to Mandy's posts, I have made a preliminary booking for a hotel in Barcelona - the U232 Hotel. I was prepared to join others in the Hotel Universal, but the hotel company's website lead me to save money by staying at the U232. As I check out more of my activity plans for Barcelona, I may shift over to the Universal at the 108 euro rate (but that's over 30 euros/night more with current prices).

Somebody posted a link to an airfare and a TA website; that got me to a new website for travel - exploretrip dotcom, which has some good rates from the US to Europe.

Waiting to see what other plans have been hatched between page 48 (mid December) and early March. Hoping that the PJ breakfast, possible Mickey Mouse night, Hard Rock Barcelona DIS meet and various other things didn't fall through...will continue reading tomorrow (oops - later today).

And the English seem to call all desserts pudding. :goodvibes

We certainly used to in the good old days, though with the advent of trying to be posher or more international we used desserts or sweets(not the candy variety) instead. Basically hot desserts with custard etc would still be puddings, but called desserts on a restaurant menu. sometimes we call them 'afters' too. As in 'what are we having for afters?' We are a very odd nation.:lmao:

Also, how easy/hard was it to get a 2nd Palo brunch reservation? I know we can only book one ahead of time and would need to try for the 2nd once onboard, but if the odds are minimal we surely wouldn't break our necks getting there early.

Thanks in advance!

debg

I would think you might get a 2nd brunch, but perhaps need to go on a waiting list at first until those who haven't even got a first booking have them.

Indeed, and John and I were at the very first Geezer and GIT get together on the 2008 WBPC. Lots of fun and laughs. I think last September's TA's group had an even better time though. Nothing too organised, just meet up at Cove Cafe after 10pm and see if anyone else is there.

This is the second night of the Geezer meets. We had cookies and hot chocolate.:) Some members forgot to turn up this night and missed out!!!!

:thumbsup2 Though the lower age for GIT's is 50. However we do need some younger dedicated walkers to help us old geezers back to our rooms in case we have forgotten where they are!!!;)

I've been reading about the drinks tasting? I am not a Tequila/Margarita lover, but I do like the odd Mojito.

Wouldn't know what a curmudgeon was but it sounds intriguing. I hope they do have the GEEZERS and GITS this year as we never made it last time and defintely want to this time, especially as this cruise is celebrating my DH Tony's official rise to GIT status ( although the actual date will be Oct 31st )
I see myself as a GIT in training :thumbsup2

Sarah - Do you you think it's worth adding the Pre Cruise meet at the Hard Rock to Noels welcome wagon?

Definitely .... I think if we meet up at about 6pm at the Hard Rock on Placa Catalunya, we can chat and have a drinky and then anyone who wants to eat we can book a table / tables for about 7:30 - 8:00. Does this sound about right. Can you add this to the list Noel

Glad you are catching up Lynne. Tony still goes on about winning that medal for the golf !! This time we are travelling without the kids as we did on the last WBTA.

Thats exactly how we see it ...... a pudding is something hot you have with custard eg. syrup sponge, Christmas Pudding, jam roly poly etc. Everything else is a dessert. We are a weird nation .... and let's not even start on the whole lunch / dinner / tea thing :rotfl2:
