*Sept 10th 2011 WB Transatlantic* - From Spain to Space Mountain - Part 6

i'd booked palo on second formal night to minimise the times i'd need to wear a dress.
now, no thanks to DCL, i have to girly up three times in one week......

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: I am glad you have to be girly for 3 times!!! I'm not a girly person but I just love trying to be onboard.:lmao:

They did this on last year's WBTA, they changed dates on us too.

From memory they told us originally formal night was night 3 and they changed it to night 2

Pirate night was to be night 7 and they changed it to night 11

I think they watch our thread, see us trying to be uber organised and change it just for a laugh :sad2:

I think our first formal night stayed on day 3, Gibraltar, didn't it, as some friends on our afternoon tour were worried about getting back to the ship in time to get ready for early dinner. Though of course I might have forgotten as they did change things so often. I know DCL said they didn't want it on the first sea day which is the usual with DCL because the Med had been rough.:confused3

They sure did keep messing up our schedules. That is why I said yesterday to not think it will be settled just yet.

Anyway, they have to take him to their vet in the morning to see if the shots worked or if he's going to need surgery. Their first thought was they'd just have him put to sleep if he needed surgery, but I think I talked her out of it. Yes, he's 10 yrs old, but he probably has a good 5-6 years left in him. I told them they need to quit thinking about the cost and please spend my inheritance to take care of the poor little guy. They're very attached to him and it would be very hard on them if they lost him.

So please send some prayers, good karma, pixie dust, or whatever, his way. His name is Harley (they didn't pick it) and he's a little Lhasa Apso they got from the ASPCA. :dog: Thanks!

I hope the little doggy is a lot better this morning and doesn't need any surgery.

Exactly! Almost a month! Jeez, I could clean it up in that time and I'm a lousy housekeeper!

I don't think DCL is going to take their time, considering all the $$ they stand to lose on excursions if CC is out of commission. "A few cruises" could translate to 3 weeks - that would be 6 Dream cruises. Besides...

I got a cabana!! I must have my cabana experience!! May not ever get another chance at that. (If I whine loudly enough, DCL will take care of this just to shut me up. I have that effect on people.)

In other news...

I talked to my mom today and their little dog is sick. It seems he has a blockage in his bowel. They took him to the emergency clinic today, where the vet gave him some shots to try to break up the blockage. The vet wanted to keep him overnight and put him on IV's, but my mom wouldn't do it, so they gave him the shots instead. (As an aside, we had a very bad experience with an emergency clinic with one of our dogs years ago. They made some serious errors and the dog died. That's why she didn't want to leave him there, even though it was a different clinic and vet.)

Anyway, they have to take him to their vet in the morning to see if the shots worked or if he's going to need surgery. I hope so too....we need our Cabana party!

Sending lots of pixie dust to Harley. :wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

Hi and good morning everyone, today is going to be a much better day than yesterday ;);)
Just back from a 7.30 spin class, now turning my attention to trying to decide which of my 21 dresses I'm going to leave behind:sad2::sad2: such an impossible task, but I will try my best

Does anyone know if there's a smiths weights machine in the magic gym, or do they have free weights. Also besides spin do they do any circuits style classes:thumbsup2
thanks

CHAMPAGNE GIRLS PLEASE READ!!!!

Ladies, I need to get some information from everyone who will be attending the meet. I need to send a list to DCL so they can charge the $20 fee's to our rooms once we are onboard.

Therefore if you are definitely coming to the Champagne Girls event please can you PM me with your full name & cabin number (or GTY).

Reminder = you WILL be charged by DCL even it you don't show up on the day.

If you have decided you don't want to come then please let me know so I can offer someone on the waitlist your place.

Thanks, I am really looking forward to seeing you all in your pink tops, Tiara & Feather Boa's. :yay:

What time is your Palo ressie? We booked on night 8 because we didn't want to miss formal night so maybe we could trade. We have 8:30.

we have 8pm on night 7, a trade would be awesome :) man the disboards are awesome!

we'll have to sort out a time to both be online at the same time so one can cancel and the other snag it as soon as it appears and the other way round. or is there an easier way to do it?
if you PM me with a time today you want to do it, i should be around 90% of the day

Formal night was definitely night 2 and not the Gibraltar day. I remember it distinctly because I had spent so long watching the gorgeous sail away from Europa point that I didn't have time to get ready to go down to see the Beatles tribute band and I felt awful in my deck wear smelling of sun tan lotion, with bad hair and everyone else had got changed and ready for the show

It did a mercy dash to the room and did my quickest change ever to get ready for dinner and everyone else waited for me at the shops/preludes.

Formal night had been the night before as my DSIL had been blown away by Twice Charmed and she thought it was a great show to see when we were all dressed up and the boys were in the Walt Disney Theatre with their kilts on :)

Thanks karen :thumbsup2

OMG I need help, I'm weighting my clothes individually on the kitchen scales to find the lightest ones......:rotfl2::rotfl2: think I may be begining to lose the plot a little !

You have my sympathies about choosing your dresses. For me it is everything I have to go through and discard.

There you go, so they did change it again last minute.:lmao::lmao: I know there was such a to do on the thread about all the changes to everything. I had such a conversation with Paul our taxi driver pre cruise about geting our friends back to the ship for them to be able to have time to get readyII think they really wanted time for a nap;)) and obviously it wasn't even necessary in the end.:headache:

Ok Margaret I think you need time away from the packing!!! :rotfl2:
How about weighing all 21 dresses and see what the damage will be!!!!!

Sorry to add something else into the equation but I think you need to figure out what shoes go with what dresses and weigh them together. otherwise you might end up with the lightest dress but it may be that the heaviest shoes are the only ones that go with it.

Although I do also agree with Hazel - step away from the suitcase.....

Don't do it now ....wait until you board and then both go to Customer Services and tell them you are swopping. Don't risk losing your bookings.

lol it's not just dresses I'm weighing, hadn't got round to shoes yet !!!:rotfl2: barefoot may be an option.Have stopped for something to eat.....because when it doubt EAT :rotfl2:

Have just had a thought and needed some advice. I had my hair cut quite short and have just been wondering what to do with it on formal nights to look vaguely girly (ish). I know in the salon you can make appointments for hair preening!!!! But is this something to do as soon as you board to secure an appointment???

Don't usually have to think of such girly things but needs must!!

Those of us who did the WBTA last year should have twigged TBH that they could have done this and checked earlier to see if they had mucked around with dates again :headache:

The changes last year played havoc with our schedule too.

Pirate night on the DIS navigator was supposed to be 26th September and our wedding anniversary was 28th, so I had booked Palo for that date. Low and behold DCL changed pirate night to the day we arrived in St Maarten (28th September). I wasn’t pleased

Just to top it all off, Jodi Benson was singing that night too. It ended up a crazy crazy evening and a wedding anniversary we won’t forget in a hurry :lmao:

We went into Palo, had our first 2 courses, then dashed down to the theatre to see Jodi Benson, then waited in the long line for a photo and autograph.

Went back to Palo and had our pudding and got the lovely plate wishing us a happy anniversary, then dashed back out again just in time to see the fireworks :yay:

We were seriously suffering from indigestion :lmao:

Mind you, Jodi Benson was so worth it :cloud9:

:faint: I think you need more than help!!!!!! Maybe a straightjacket? :lmao:

I don't know if you can pre-book hair appts or not before the cruise, never bothered myself. BUT as you want an appt on Formal Night I would definitely go straight away on boarding and see if they have any spare slots.

Good luck.
