*Sept 10th 2011 WB Transatlantic* - From Spain to Space Mountain - Part 6

They did this on last year's WBTA, they changed dates on us too.

From memory they told us originally formal night was night 3 and they changed it to night 2

Pirate night was to be night 7 and they changed it to night 11

I think they watch our thread, see us trying to be uber organised and change it just for a laugh :sad2:

just called DCL again, as they previously told me that it was night 7.

They have now confirmed the undernoted:-

Night 2 - Formal
Night 6 - themed night (possibly Villians?)
Night 8 - Formal
Night 11 - Pirate Night
Night 13 - Semi-formal

She said events can be subject to change, but should be final now with 2 weeks to go.

I musta missed the interm updates, because that's exactly what I have on my schedule.

i'd booked palo on second formal night to minimise the times i'd need to wear a dress.
now, no thanks to DCL, i have to girly up three times in one week......

:rotfl2:

May have to steal the Pudge one. The other is hilarious.

knowing our luck, they'll substitute CC with a hurricane hit nassau.......

No.

That's what I would be afraid of. Would just stay on the ship then. Key West would be lovely though!!! :hippie:

Yes, it would, but... No.

I wouldn't mind either .... I love Key West, and have never been to Nassau, but obviously would way prefer Castaway Cay. pixiedust: that they are able to carry out the necessary work before we arrive. They do have almost a month pixiedust: pixiedust:

Exactly! Almost a month! Jeez, I could clean it up in that time and I'm a lousy housekeeper!

I don't think DCL is going to take their time, considering all the $$ they stand to lose on excursions if CC is out of commission. "A few cruises" could translate to 3 weeks - that would be 6 Dream cruises. Besides...

I got a cabana!! I must have my cabana experience!! May not ever get another chance at that. (If I whine loudly enough, DCL will take care of this just to shut me up. I have that effect on people.)

In other news...

I talked to my mom today and their little dog is sick. It seems he has a blockage in his bowel. They took him to the emergency clinic today, where the vet gave him some shots to try to break up the blockage. The vet wanted to keep him overnight and put him on IV's, but my mom wouldn't do it, so they gave him the shots instead. (As an aside, we had a very bad experience with an emergency clinic with one of our dogs years ago. They made some serious errors and the dog died. That's why she didn't want to leave him there, even though it was a different clinic and vet.)

Anyway, they have to take him to their vet in the morning to see if the shots worked or if he's going to need surgery. Their first thought was they'd just have him put to sleep if he needed surgery, but I think I talked her out of it. Yes, he's 10 yrs old, but he probably has a good 5-6 years left in him. I told them they need to quit thinking about the cost and please spend my inheritance to take care of the poor little guy. They're very attached to him and it would be very hard on them if they lost him.

So please send some prayers, good karma, pixie dust, or whatever, his way. His name is Harley (they didn't pick it) and he's a little Lhasa Apso they got from the ASPCA. :dog: Thanks!

Does anyone know how big the taxis are in Barcelona?

I'm trying to decide how many people they'll hold, and how much luggage. If we're lucky (and DonaldCP98 and group are able to make it to Barcelona on the 9th), we'll need transportation for 6 adults and 1 child plus luggage to the port from our hotel.

TIA.....

I just have to share.... Curt and his mom are down in the basement going through old memorabilia in various boxes. He came across two Disneyland shirts from his early years, a Donald and a Mickey. Both are ringer tees. I think that since he can't wear them, they look like they may fit Sarah, so I am going to have her wear the MIckey ringer on our DIS Mickey Club House night! (Need a little OxyClean though...) NOw... the name is not across the back, but diagonal on the front in one-inch felt iron-on letters... and of course spelled "CURT". I told Sarah "how cool is that" to wear a shirt and be able to point to your Daddy's name to let others know it was his about 30 years ago! :thumbsup2 Completely vintage. :)

That is very cool!

I would say that you're going to need 2 taxis. Most of them are just regular car size (except maybe a little bit smaller.) When we (5 adults w/ luggage) came into Barcelona last time, we needed 2 taxis and the one w/ 3 adults was a tight squeeze.

Well really hoping that Disney can fix up CC in time for our visit.

I too would love Key West if CC was not possible. But NOT Nassau i've sorry to say i've not heard great stuff about it :sad2:

I know that on last years WBTA we were told that the previous cruise or two was unable to dock due to weather, but we just got lucky, and managed to get in....

Fingers crossed for this year.

So, you did have to go pick them up :sad2:....I'm sure you were very happy to see the MIL again :headache:, but at least you got to go shopping! Cute shoes...very versatile.
Yeah we did have to pick them up... Lorelei fell asleep on the way to the store and MIL met us there and went to the car and woke her up! James had many words with her after that

Those shoes are gorgeous :thumbsup2
Thanks... it's the dressiest pair I have right now. :rotfl:

What time is your Palo ressie? We booked on night 8 because we didn't want to miss formal night so maybe we could trade. We have 8:30.

I agree I must have my cabana experience!
Hope all goes well with Harley! Sending lot's of Pixie dust to you and your parents

Spent much of the day working on FE gift bits.

I always seem to underestimate how long they take,

I sit in front of the TV and make my first mock up and it takes an hour or so

But then I always forget that I then have to multiply that by 30! To make enough for my groups :rotfl:

Oh well it's been fun and relaxing. And here in the UK we have a public holiday tomorrow so i've got plenty of time to finish up my gifts. And maybe even start work on my door decorations.

Hi there in Mn, I lived in Eagan nr the twin cities for a while in 1997-98, great memories of a great place and warm people . . .

Eagan is a beautiful city! We live on the opposite side of the Twin Cities in Brooklyn Park. Brooklyn Park is a bit more "run down" than Eagan but we are in a very nice pocket and the taxes tend to be cheaper than the nicer suburbs. :) I'm all for less taxes! :)

It would be too bad not to get there, but we sure can't control Mother Nature.
We are north of Hartford, CT, awaiting the hurricane/TS. The wind is getting stronger, and the rain is falling at an incredible rate.
And so, with 1 week til we leave Boston, we have something far more exciting (not in a positive manner) to deal with. If I have power later, I'll check in. Hope everyone along the East coast is safe!!! Caroline

STAY SAFE! :)

we'll get on fine! can only drink certain spirits and cocktails, hate cider, beer and wine, yuck!

I'm right there with you... DH loves wine and wants to drink more wine and become a connoisseur, so to speak but I just can't bring myself to love any of it. I will drink a sweet fruity type wine from time to time but give me a margarita and I'm in heaven! :)

Well, he is not going with us on this cruise, unfortunately, he can't miss that much work. I was looking for his passport because we had this crazy idea that IF we could find it and IF he could rearrange his work schedule THEN he could fly to St. Thomas for a vacation on Sunday 9/18. Our anniversary is 9/20, and that is when we land in St. Thomas. By that point we will not have seen him for 15 days and I know the boys will be missing him, and I thought we could surprise them with Daddy there when we get off the ship!! He could rent a car and we could go to the beach, and then just hang out with him at the hotel until we have to get back to the ship.

I managed to get 3 free nights at the Westin in ST. Maarten using points, but I haven't booked a flight yet because we can't find his passport!! He's not sure he can get an replacement expedited that quickly. And of course, what if we do all this and another storm comes up and we skip St. Thomas? So it is still very much not a "done deal" but we are working on it!

That would be so fun for you if your DH could make it to St. Maarten! :) I was noticing that you are going to be on this 2 week long cruise over your anniversary with your children but without your husband. I found that a bit ironic. LOL! :) I sounds like something I would do! :)

I WISH I could enjoy wine/champagne, but it just never happened. I feel like I'm missing something when I'm at a "grown-up" event, but I simply cannot stand the taste. I can barely manage a mimosa :guilty:. Rum or vodka based drinks, yum! Anything else (bourbon, gin, etc...even beer)...no thanks. Unless I'm on vacation, it's basically iced tea or Diet Coke/Pepsi. Yep, boring ;).

We have had about 6 inches of rain from the storm and are having wind gusts of around 40 mph or so, from the wrap-around bands, but the worst is over and all is well. None of our trees came down, but others in the area were not so lucky, with lots of localized flooding (near rivers) and power outages. I hope everyone else is also ok :grouphug:.

First and foremost, I'm glad you weathered the storm ok and I hope you recover quickly from Irene.

Secondly, I hear ya about being boring. I currently start my day with a cup of decaf coffee from the local coffee shop. I am trying to ween off caffeine and coffee. I think I have the caffeine (except for the amounts in decaf) but now for the coffee. It would be ok if I like regular coffee, but I don't. I love the mochas and they are not so good for me. At any rate, I drink that but it's going away and then it's just water for me. I might try to get some good ice tea. I just think making it can be such a pain. I quit the soda/pop thing almost a year ago because it's bad for me. So my days are filled with drinking only water. I think I might be even more boring then yourself! :rotfl:

Now off to start packing... YAY!

I hear ya! I'm inclined to agree with you! Seems to be a little slow on some things and changing their minds about other things! No matter.....will all work out and we will have a "magical" time!pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:

OK, you win! I am not a coffee drinker, although Larry is a coffee connoisseur and uses his grinder/French press every morning. My DM also loves it, but I just never developed the taste...don't even like mocha flavors or coffee ice cream. But I do enjoy a good cup of English or Irish tea (must be my British grandfather's influence :)). I really only drink soda at work, and occasionally in a restaurant (mostly iced tea). I forgot about Tequila...yep, a margarita hits the spot sometimes, too.

I've been cleaning today, prepping for the family's visit. Adrenaline is a wonderful thing (because it would have been just as easy to sit and watch tv all day ;)).

I have to go watch True Blood now (any other fans?), then I'm going to try to organize and finish off my magnets. Time is short....:cool1::cool1::cool1:

so i guess about 3/4 of Rhode Islanders are in the dark tonight... I couldn't be happier with the tv, light, air condition and macbook all on simultaneously. Hope everybody else made it out of irene ok and stays away from the flooding in the north east!

I was doing a search for something on our threads and rather than using the DISboards, I did a google search and came across this site, which has statistics on Part 5:

I am in Texas and we had a 2 1/2 hour power outage this afternoon due to rolling blackouts. They want to conserve energy on a day we are having 107 degree weather! You would think all the power being out in the northeast could be sent here for us to use...LOL ohh well.... I do hope all the power up there gets back on soon.

Well done on getting started .... I am still waiting for materials to arrive :scared1: Looks like it will be a last minute panic yet again :confused3
And no holiday for me ... full 8 hour shift and overnight on call :sad2:
I am so ready for this holiday :yay:

Probably our only chance of having a cabana experience too.... it has to happen :cool1:

There are 2 sizes of cabs in Barcelona - regular cars and mini people carriers. The people carriers are good if there are 4 of you and you have a bit more luggage.

I agree with Liz, you are going to need 2 cars

There seems to be so much to do between now and next week, never mind having to do FE stuff too, good luck Sarah your materials arrive soon :thumbsup2

No holiday for me today, it's an English Bank holiday :sad2: On a happy note, our local holiday is in 3 weeks time when we are on the WBTA and the extra day gave me enough leave to be able to book the trip :thumbsup2
