Post all SW questions concerns, etc. here...

No it was the same normal configuration. I asked my husband and he hasn't been in a plane yet with that.

What was your experience with the seats if you sat in one? My husband is very tall and I know those will be a priority for him if he can make it work.

Yes, we did. It was nice to have the extra space. :) .

I had read that they were sending out emails to folks in advance if they were expected to be on one of the upgraded aircraft so you could upgrade to business select (or I guess they call it choice extra now) for the flight. But, we didn't get any advance notification on either flight.

Oh that's interesting about advanced notice. That's good to hear the extra space was good 😊

This was on The Points Guy web site:
"We've already started to monetize those retrofitted aircraft by notifying customers who will be on a flight with extra legroom seats, and inviting them to take advantage of our existing Upgraded Boarding product," Watterson told analysts on Thursday, speaking on the company's second-quarter earnings call."

Not that it’s expensive, but I like that. I never pay for it on a flight, but I’ll surely use it for free. I’d personally rather free WiFi and choose my seat than free bag and open seating.
And to each their own. I’d prefer free bags (I get one anyway) so maybe there’s a little more room in the overheads and open seating. My flights are typically less than 3 hours and I can live without my phone/laptop/tablet for that long and I like to scope out the surrounding passengers before choosing my seat.

It’s a nice perk but it was only around $8-10 while others got it for free based on ticket type or status.

Bags on the other hand are now $35 for the first one unless you have status, booking the expensive fare or a credit card holder.

With the sponsorship from T-Mobile they will probably make more than when they were selling it.

:rotfl2::confused3

We booked our first flight with the new assigned seating. I am surprised at how difficult I found it to pick seats.
With open seating we pick different seats if there are a lot of open seats expected--(like maybe 1 row behind the exit row) I don't think you can tell if there are a lot of basic seats already purchased (unless the fare price goes up a lot) --until 48 hours prior?

DH and I can pick the extra leg room seats, but maybe those are the rows that will get filled up first guaranteeing a seat mate--leaving rows in the back that are open?

We are headed into uncharted territory!

Can the free bag benefit be combined?
For example, if I’m a list and have the cc can I check two bags for free?

Waiting to board phoenix to Burbank and a lady has a full size suitcase. The gate agent told her she would need to check it. She said she was going to gate check it. Interesting method to not pay the $35 fee.
What do stand by passengers do with their full size luggage?

Yea I doubt SW is gonna let that trend get started. If your “carry on” doesn’t fit in the bin, I’m sure they’ll start charging to gate check it. I’m wondering how she got it thru security.

You’re all ignoring my question. What do people do if they have full size luggage but they’re trying to get on stand by?
Wouldn’t they have to drag the luggage to the gate and then gate check if they make it onto the plane?

I had an interesting situation on my way down. I had boarding position A 3. Went to line up and there was an entire group of people clumped up in the 1-5 slot. I asked one of them, what position are you?, she joyfully announced, we are all A 2.

Yeah!

Thankfully the gate agent did inform them that just because you know someone with a better boarding position, it does not mean you can board together.

So.... If I apply today (Sept 5th) will my closing date be around the 5th of the month? Meaning that any Christmas presents I buy after Dec. 5th-ish will post in January and therefore go towards the CP?

SORRY... I got all excited and posted before reading the rest of the thread!

That's generally how Chase apps work. I looked at my last couple of personal cards and, in all cases, the first closing date is on the day before what would have been one month from application (so app 12/24, first close 1/23; app 4/10, first close 5/9).

You also have enough time that you can see what the closing date is on the card and call to change it if you don't like what's assigned.
Anyone have a DP on the closing date for a SWA card with a payment date of the 27th? New card and I’m trying to figure out whether I need to request a payment date that works better towards getting the 100k point SUB in early 2026 or I am good to go. Thanks!

Business card or personal card? They have different timeframes.

Hubby's personal card with a due date of 27 closes on the 2nd.

My business card with a due date of the 28 closes on the 6th.

Looks like either way you should be fine, although I would for sure want a statement cycle to go through so that I saw on the Chase website "Next statement closing January 2nd" before I put spend on there.
