*Sept 10th 2011 WB Transatlantic* - From Spain to Space Mountain - Part 6

We finally finished all of our tshirts and onesies last night, cut out tags for Secret Mickey and FE, and Curt picked out clothes (have not gone through them yet to figure out each day like I did for the girls). Still need to finish me. After I get through tutoring this morning, I have the rest of the day. (And need it!)

Thanks so much Marilyn! I'm really starting to freak out since we leave Sunday. I've never been so nervous about packing and traveling but then again we've never traveled so long with the baby before.

You'll do great! If flying, give something to drink on ascent/descent. Pack a new toy (or two) to keep her occupied. Be sure to have her favorite snacks. The longest flight we did was Dallas to Hawaii nonstop when Sarah was 9 months old, and then down to Barbados when she was two. Both times as a lapchild.

Welcome Aboard!!

Can someone please confirm the correct stateroom numbers for colkath2005? The FE list I downloaded today has 5501 & 5505 but I had made a notation on my list they had changed to 6015 & 6323. Can anyone verify which is correct? (Don't know if colkath2005 has started their trip yet.)

Hi Tammy we are still here

Our rooms are 5501 and 5505 we change to get closer together.

Last shift for me tomorrow :cool1::cool1:

What does everyone else still have to do, or are you all mega organised and sorted already !! :goodvibes

Just checking to see if DD is sorted out and safely at her destination; we moms like everyone battened down before the trip, don't we?

Was completely happy not having villain or pirate clothes. Now -- nagging feeling I'll be sorry not participating in everything fun! So will see what kind of piecemeal pirate kit I can scare up from the giant Halloween store that just opened near our home. Keep in mind I haven't packed a stitch yet so adding to the giant pile isn't the wisest move at this juncture!

Packing, nails, one more day at work, and food for DS--I think that's it. Maybe.

I had a Shellac Manicure on the Dream in January and I loved it. :thumbsup2 I haven't found anywhere local to me that does it so I am having a Gel mani & pedi on Monday so they are done for Barcelona & the beginning of the cruise, but I may a get a Shellac on my nails part way through the cruise.

M.

I had a Gel mani yesterday for the first time (a new thing in hairdressers and I didn't know it was Gel until after it was done!) Then she tells me I have to get it off by soaking in Acetone. So I have now to make an appt on the cruise to get my nails fixed before we get off as we have another 2.5 weeks visiting friends in Kentucky (a small town in the sticks). What is a Shellac Manicure, is it similar to Gel???
Any advice is welcome as I have always just used normal nail varnish before...but my Gel nails do look wonderful and sparkly! Hope they last until the 2nd week of cruise....

Noel: thank you for all of your hard work putting together the Navigator, the Madeira tours and the pins & lanyards.:flower3: So sorry to hear that both lanyard companies have now messed up after all of your hard work :headache:

Agreed; Noel, the lanyards are icing on the cake if we get them. No harm if we don't. Your work is appreciated either way.

And the Navigator is about the nicest thing I can imagine. Can't imagine all the edits you've had to do; but every time I look at it throughout the trip I'll think of how helpful it is to have it!!

Lol no he doesn't but he is about to discover a tropical storm called Claire in a minute....i am getting annoyed with him as he is still working upstairs in our office at 11.15pm on a Friday night. i may just have to go and pull the fuse out.

Hope you sorted him out Claire ... I had similar words with DH yesterday as he sat there on some XBox game while yours truly is stressing about preparing for the cruise, sorting out all the paperwork, packing, making FE gifts, sorting out banking, last minute shopping etc etc etc etc

Well I thought I had but he is back on the office working again. :headache:

I made him sort out all the clothes he wants to take last weekend so I guess i'll just get on with the packing. I can't be too hard on him as he has been working his butt off trying to impress in his new job, he is doing really well with all the projects he has taken on so I suppose it's worth it in the long run.

If he was playing on the XBox (which he does a lot!) on the other hand I would have wrapped the power cable around his neck by now. ;)

Dennis can barely work the TV remote. We have a Wii system, but he has no clue how to use it!

I can't complain. He's been taking care of all the housework-type things while I've been obsessed with planning. We each play to our strengths - he likes repetitive tasks, and I like researching, planning, organizing, and booking. He's ironing right now - watching a cowboy movie, of course - and he'll do his own packing. My problem was convincing him that he needed to take some of "my stuff" (aka, the shared items) in one of his bags.

He came home the other day and told me I should look at the US State Department website. Guess what - there are pickpockets in Barcelona! And in the places we're going, like La Ramblas and Parc Guell! :scared1:

Um, yeah honey. Knew about that. And the tactics they use to distract their marks. That would be why I bought the steel reinforced Pacsafe purse and neck pouch months ago. Well, at least he was trying to be helpful.

Cove Cafe Scrapbook coffee & chat:

Hey ladies, now that we have the dates for all the DIS organised events, I propose we meet on the 19th at 10am for our scrapbook chat.

Sounds good to me!

Pat: I recently got round to reading our Frommer's Barcelona day by day guide and came across information on 2 shops that I thought you and Denis may be interested in visiting:

"Sombrereria Obach - this old fashioned shop only sells hats, including classic Spanish berets (boinas). Located in the Barri Gotic area on cl del Calais, Metro: Jaume I. Accepts MC, V.

Heritage - a theatrical looking shop, stuffed with old costumes, jewelry and Spanish Shawls. Located in the Barri Gotic area on c/Banys Nous, 14 Metro: Jaume I. Accepts MC, V."

I knew about Obach, but not the other one. Thank you for that! I promised Dennis we'd go to the hat shop - it's one of the carrots I dangled to convince him to do the trip. We will definitely have to check out Heritage, too. I'm so glad we don't have to worry about baggage allowance once we get to Barca!

Hi and welcome. You are going to have a great time on your first cruise. First of many me thinks!

Was completely happy not having villain or pirate clothes. Now -- nagging feeling I'll be sorry not participating in everything fun! Keep in mind I haven't packed a stitch yet so adding to the giant pile isn't the wisest move at this juncture!

You get a bandana at dinner and many people just don this and look the part so don't worry over much. Otherwise I had a thin scarf John used as a waistband and a plastic skull and crossbone ring and eyepatch we got in a FE once. He wears his normal white shirt and with the bandana that is it. I bought some cheap hoop ear rings and cheap chunky chains necklaces. I have a white top that has a few frills on and again with the bandana that is it.

Shellac is similar to gel but a thinner coat. You will be able to get the gel removed on the ship and then they will be able to apply Shellac or just a regular manicure what ever you'd prefer - personally i'd go for the Shellac as that should see you through the rest of your trip. :)

Hi from Mike and Tracy, we look forward to meeting you all on our first ever cruise:cheer2:

:welcome: to the fun! See you next Saturday! :cool1:

Got it Lorraine.. replied to it :)

Thanks Michelle! :thumbsup2. Thanks also for putting these 2 events together for us :flower3:

:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: Yesterday was my last day in work. Although I've got tons still left to do before we leave for BCN, at least I'm now on vacation! Doing my happy dance...

:dancer: :dancer: :dancer: :dancer:

Safe travels to all those heading out in the next few days

Gosh, I hadn't really thought of charging anything! I mean, it's not exactly "salon service"... I won't have a nail table or anything, we'd just have to wing it depending on where people catch me.

Not to mention how Disney might have a large conniption of my taking business away from the spa... :rolleyes1

I'm just offering something I do well to a community that has done so many fantastic things for me during the planning of this holiday. I've never felt comfortable with the spa prices onboard, yet I know that a broken nail or a smudged pedicure can affect how you feel about how you look. If I can brighten someone's day a bit, it's my pleasure.

But if people insist, how about I trade nails for the odd FAB here or there? :flower3:

Hi Seraphine I have sent you a PM about my nails and hope we can get some time together to sort out the removal of those gel nails.

In spite of being mis-sold to me I loved them yesterday but on reading all the problems of removal the glow is slowly wearing off. I can see you being quite busy sorting out all our nail problems and don't think you will have to buy many FAB's for yourself. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR HELP AND ADVICE

I had similar words with DH yesterday as he sat there on some XBox game while yours truly is stressing about preparing for the cruise, sorting out all the paperwork, packing, making FE gifts, sorting out banking, last minute shopping etc etc etc etc

hi from another xbox widow :) although he was a bit peeved when i started playing it too......

Hi from Mike and Tracy, we look forward to meeting you all on our first ever cruise:cheer2:

we will be celebrating our 18th wedding anniversary on the trip.

welcome to the cruise, and congrats on 18 years!

I went to the Tweedmill today ( a factory outlet store nearby ) where I was looking for pink sandals, having resigned myself to having to wear my purple formal dress for both formal night and villains night, so imagine my surprise when I happened upon a pink formal dress, one left in my size, which fitted perfectly and was reduced from £75 to £24.99. I am so chuffed :woohoo::woohoo:

Didn't find any sandals but you can't win them all :goodvibes

Thanks for the advice Claire. I know Dawn will be there for emergencies and would help me out but I don't want to intrude into her holiday and make it a 'busman's holiday' if I an avoid it......so I have just gone into the DCL site and made an appt for a manicure halfway through the cruise so hope my glittery fingers last OK till then.

Shellac definitely sounds the way to go

looking forward to meeting you soon. regards Sue

Noel (Birkner)

Sounds good to me Claire .. thanks for arranging it :goodvibes

What does everyone else still have to do, or are you all mega organised and sorted already !! :goodvibes

I wish I were more organised  As much as I want to be on the ship I really could use a couple more weeks to get things done before we leave. Guess we will fly by the seat of our pants on some things, and hope for the best ;)

Noel, I'm so sorry for all the hassle you are going through with the lanyards as well as just everyday living. All that you have done is appreciated more than just words typed on a screen can say ... you deserve a vacation ;)

Isn't that always the way it goes ... you stop looking for something and it finds you! My friend from Wales always says she's chuffed when she is happy about something, so that brought a smile to my face :goodvibes
