Karen, I'm so sorry to hear about Gary's dad (((HUGS))). Please take care on that long drive. :grouphug:

Gary, I am so sorry for your loss, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Karen, drive safe, we will see you both in September.

FOR THE CANDY SWAP; PLEASE SIGN UP WITH CHRISTINA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've gotten some PM's signing up with me, but as I'm no longer cruising, I'm not the way to go.

As Burnice said, I was/am still reading along as it's a lovely group and nice way to spent some time but am totally kinda lost on the details. ;) Processing any info is still challenging, so be prepared for me to make some weird comments. That and try and have a good time pulling my leg, no time like the present for it to be succesfull! :rotfl: Are there any good upgrades assigned? Less then a month to go and you guys will be sailing already, wow!

Isn't it about time for some like Lynne to almost begin their pre-cuise-travels already????

Anybody start packing yet that isn't leaving within 14 days? :rotfl2:

Yep, surprise I'm home. Sorta. It took so long because as usual I ran into the "you don't fit the standard protocol and thus it's all in your head"-arrogance. Not fitting protocols is standard with my condition but that seems to hold little value. On thursday evening I decided to call it quits and run my own show bascially (read; was given the "amnesty" while awaiting the psychiatrist being called in :rolleyes1 ). Lo and behold, following the path I took previously when getting started with my feedingpump worked once again, just doesn't fit protocol. Within 4 days I was back to both drinking enough AND getting (more) enough calories. Took me until today to get back to my original pumpschedule, but that's less important. Thankfully had an amazing religious worker (and aren't even religious  ) who kept me sane and opened my eyes.

My case was dealt with so poorly on all fronts that he also discussed it very carefully with some higher staff and I was given the message to please put my experience in writing, amongst others by the head of the complaints board. Apparently both the "it's in your head"-abuse and lack of proper care in some areas is happening more and more and they're seeing the hospital being damaged but can't really do anything about it because nobody dares to speak up officially. One day I will, but for now all is put into recovering. To be honest; it's been a bit of a challenging time and am still finding out about more and more mistakes being made. Amongst others I dealt with a temporary halfsided paralyses due to untreated low bloodsugars, (still) got very bad vitamine deficiencies that GP and/or hospital didn't pick up on etc. etc. We're trying to get things clear and treated but it's hard work to do so when nobody seems to be able to not make huge mistakes.

Knock on wood the help and aids I'm trying to arrange isn't too overly expensive. If that's the case, I'm planning on hitting WDW in december 2011. Plans were 1st-22nd but looks like it'll be 5th-22nd. If so and anybody else will be there; would love to see if we can arrange a mini-meet.

Burnice; you are a doll! Read the PM and will reply tomorrow I think. Keep thinking I'm all that, but just reading let alone go :cool1: "I can dive into our thread again now I'm back home" is a bit more work than expected.

Jacqueline, so glad to hear you are home! Hope everything goes better for you now and that you will have your strength back soon! Glad to hear you are making vacation plans for Dec. it gives you something to look forward to.

As a couple who have struggled with infertility ourselves, I just want to say what an amazing gift you have given to your sister, I hope things go well for her and you will soon be a proud Aunt :goodvibes:goodvibes

We too, have infertility struggles, but we ended up adopting and we have been so blessed by our DD!

It is so cool to think what you have done for your sister, Mary!

Hi guys.

Really sorry to the people I'm supposed to be meeting with tonight, but I can't make the meet up, chances are I'll be spending a couple of hours at work and then leavin to drive up to glasgow

Going to be AWOL on here for a bit, I'll try and respond to messages sent to me but it might take a while to reply

Just got a call from gary and unfortunately his dad lost his battle against cancer last night. I need to go into work as I need to find out what time I can get off and how long, then I'll be drivin up to glasgow tonight.
Really sorry to all the Kent meet-up people, I was really looking forward to meeting you all

So sorry to hear of your loss! Our thoughts and prayers for you at this time of loss.

Apperently we got our cruise documents earlier this week, but DM didn't let us know. They went to Canada, not Ukraine, so I guess we'll have some reading on the plane from London to Barcelona. :cool1:

Does anyone know if they have root beer on the ship?

Karen sorry for the loss of Gary's father, you are in our thoughts. I lost my dad 20 years ago as of sail date, it still is tough. Take Care:grouphug:

Thank goodness last day of bike week around here. If you guys never heard of it 23 live 20 minutes for Sturgis that holds the event. Population of Sturgis is 2000 approx. people( yes only 2000). During this week the town gets about 400,000 people so it is very busy and crazy here for about two weeks. I am glad this is the last weekend, and hopefully all will leave safely.
Now I can start getting ready for the big trip and catching up on everthing.:cool1:

Jean, you are not going to believe this, no wonder you love my terminology, I am from Ayrshire too :woohoo::woohoo: I'm from Kilmarnock - where are you from? I'm an Ayrshire lass too :lmao:

I only moved up north as my DH was in the RAF up here for 20 years, so Inverness is my second home :rotfl2:

Yes, it's still the same, every 5 years or so a fake sighting of Nessie comes out of the woodwork :rotfl2::rotfl2:

I grew up ( all 7 years of my life in Scotland) in Irvine, but most of my relatives lived in the Darvel valley -
Galston and Newmilns, so Kilmarnock bus station was where I spent a deal of time. My other grandparents lived in Dreghorn, so that wasn't so bad - bus wise. My family emigrated to the states in 1948, but Scotland is still "home". When I went back in 1953 the Kilmarnock baths were a great place to spend time. Are they still there? Can't wait to meet you and just listen to you blether! Jean

hi everyone, just checking in before heading to bed

can't think of anything else, my brain is fried and i can't really concentrate right now. going to finish the (well needed) glass of baileys, and head to bed, its been a bad day and a tough one at work and i just want it to be over.
oh and please keep gary's dad in your thoughts, gary's had to head up to glasgow as the visiting hospice nurse thinks his dad's only got days left, his mum has signed the DNR and they're withdrawing his meds. (hence the "really bad day" comment)
I volunteered with hospice for a time. It was 'the best of times and the worst of times' The nurses are some of the kindest people I have ever met, so I'll say a little prayer for gary. Gary's Dad and You. God speed, Jean

You can do it any way you choose. Per cabin, per person, one time during cruise, multiple times during the cruise, etc., etc., etc.

Mel you can do whatever you want, just have fun. ::yes::

Some people will give one thing per cabin, others will give one per person, some may give more than one per person. Personally for this cruise I am giving a minimum of one thing per person. :goodvibes

Thanks guys. I have 6 or 7 items per cabin so I might do it all in one hit or a few at a time :wizard:

Just wanted to say a huge thank you to all of you for the kind words and loving support you've all shown.
M
I'm working til seven then I'm setting off for glasgow, will probably need to stop somewhere as I've only had three hours sleep and a seven hour drive after a nine hour shift isn't the best idea.
Will catch up with you all soon though.

Oh and before I forget, two spaces still left on the airport shuttle, PM if interested

Karen, take care, and try to stop at least 2 hourly for a walk around to keep a DVT at bay. They can happen with drivers on long journeys. Hugs to you.

I could be wrong but I don't think there are any set rules re the fe gift giving. Mostly ours are things for each person to choose what they want or the gift is for the family etc. So along the same lines as you I think.

I think I am going to tag all my FEs and get them organized so that I know I have everything, then pack them in their own suitcase for the trip. And I think I might do this TODAY (Ha - we'll see if that happens), so I have a couple questions:

I plan on putting people's names and cabin numbers on the gifts since I got different presents for different genders/ages, and then when I am on the cruise I can just look at the tag to know where to drop it off. Are you supposed to put who it is from also, like you would on a regular gift?

Did anyone who did the WBTA last year bring candy from the US? I'm wondering if I can pack it and bring it or if I need to buy some in Spain. And if I can bring it, does it have to be individually wrapped and/or in original packaging?

BTW, I hate to dress up for formal night and usually just wear slacks and a nice blouse. And I was planning to just put the boys in a pair of khakis and a polo shirt, but on a whim today I went to Goodwill and picked up a couple of suit jackets for the boys. :thumbsup2 I even got a clip on tie for my 4 yo! I don't know if the stuff will even fit or if I can get them to wear it, but it wasn't expensive so if I don't use it all, or only once, I won't feel so bad about it.

I'm going to keep looking for a tie for my older son, preferably a Disney themed clip on tie...

Gosh it is such a small world Jean. I was born in Irvine and my Dad worked there for a number of years. I have a good friend in Darvel and worked with a few girls from "up the Valley" :) I used to go through Dreghorn every weekend when I was a teenager going to the local ice rink on the big blue double decker buses lol.

It is such a changed place now Jean, you would get a shock, the recession has hit really badly.

The Kilmarnock baths were brill, I spent all my summers as a child there as they had the best pool in the area with the huge wave machine, it was mental and brings back lots of childhood memories for me too :lovestruc

Unfortunately, they have been gone for a long long time. I think there's a MacDonalds there now and car parking :sad2:

Can't wait to meet you now too for a blether :rotfl2: my accent has softened over the years I have lived up North, so I'm not quite as broad as the rest of my family, but still have a soft Ayrshire accent, there's no mistaking it :lmao:
