News from our TA... our cruise docs arrived at her office this morning! She has posted them on to us over here (she's in Canada). Yay!

Nursery question: It says elsewhere that the nursery is open until midnight, yet we can't seem to sign up for anything online past 11pm. So does it really cut off at 11pm? Is it different on other Disney cruises?

Not that we plan on being out late every night, but 11pm? That's seriously early for us! (we're late dining as well... we'll hardly have time to get a drink or a show before needing to get back to pick Eilidh up) I was hoping to have til midnight at least.

OK folks - ran into an issue with packaging the t-shirts tonight. The boxes I got from the PO are basically the size of a VHS tape and clearly I underestimated what could fit into them!

I will be canceling the labels & tracking numbers that I already sent to you and will be getting new ones tomorrow since I have to use a different size package. :scared1:

Live and learn - sorry for the inconvenience!

Seriously, this ship turns into a ghost town by midnight. There are some late night activities for adults (and the kids' clubs), but the pattern seems to be: go to the adult cabaret in Rockin' Bar D at 10:15 or 10:30 (whichever that night), which lasts about 30-45 minutes. Then the majority of people stand up and go to their rooms.

I go up deck afterwards and watch whatever sporting event or movie is on the Ariel big-screen "funnel vision" for a while.

Early morning is still dead calm, too. Not a lot of early risers. The workers will be out, cleaning, painting, doing maintenance, but not many cruisers.

Looking at the Navigators from our first cruise (3-night, 2007), there wasn't any food options open until 7 am.

This is no party boat! except on Deck 6 forward.

As i'm looking at the old Navigator I'm getting anxious about what to do. There are 100s of things to do at once! I have never played Bingo, other than in my elementary school classrooms, so I'd really like to play on the ship. But we'll see. I for sure want to see all the shows! For you veteran cruisers, what was some of your favorite activities on the ship?...

1. One-time special activity: as part of a Disney Voluntears program, we painted large canvas squares that formed a mural for the Children's Hospital in Barcelona. This is my favorite thing ever on DCL.

2. Free movies in the Buena Vista Theatre - don't sit on the back row - it has less knee room. Bring in a drink (+ snack?) from Deck 9.

3. Adult cabaret in Rockin' Bar D starting 10:15-10:45pm (check the Navigator). Especially if John Charles is performing - he can sing nearly any song. Even better if a bunch of DISers sit together and have fun.

4. Chip-It Golf in the Atrium - who can chip the velcro-wrapped ball onto the highest scoring place on the golf carpet.

5. Fresh berries and whipped cream at Palo Brunch

6. Surprise bump-ins with the characters when you are out in the hall.

7. Watching Ariel funnel vision at night.

8. Having a great crowd at the evening shows (in Alaska, the kids loved the comedians/jugglers - some of the volunteer kids stole the shows.

9. The shower/dressing room in the Spa - free - they are large (no clinging shower curtains and have lots of towels and bathrobes. They have disposable razors, Q-tips, and make-up remover pads + facial cleanser/lotion. There's a dry sauna in there, too. And lounge chairs. And a bowling alley and ski lift. (anyone remember SNL - and a eunuch).

WooHoo,:woohoo: party on Deck 8 forward too. party: This is going to be an awesome cruise with an awesome group of friends. CAN'T WAIT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :jumping1:

I'd say just leave it as scheduled.

I second that. They will just have to cope with us!

I know nothing about the nursery, but I wonder if the 11:00 cut off is the latest drop-off time, with the latest pick-up at midnight?

Oh well, "stuff" happens, right? After all your work to get these shirts for us, I don't think any of us will complain about having to wait a few more days. :thumbsup2

This is no party boat! except on Deck 6 forward.

With all the booze everyone's planning to bring, I say, we don't need no stinkin' bar to party! All we have to do is commandeer a few deck chairs and we're good to go. We've got ice and mixers, courtesy of the drinks station, and I'm sure we can "liberate" a few glasses from the bars if need be. We can always improvise a cocktail shaker - I'm thinking one of those double-walled drink cups would do just fine.

Those rowdy teens from the video 'way back when better watch out for us!

It sure happened this time around! Oh well - back to the PO tomorrow!

Speaking of double walled tumblers, I picked up a 24oz Mickey Mouse Tervis Tumbler today to bring on the trip from Bed Bath and Beyond:

Mickey Tumbler

And when I was there I noticed they now have cocktail shaker tops for them so you can turn them into shakers!

I like the way these people think!

Mickey is cute, but I'm liking all those Margaritaville styles. Just have to think of a way to convince Dennis we need a couple of these. He looked pretty interested when I mentioned the tumblers with the seaplanes on them, and he really perked up when I said they double as cocktail shakers.

The phrase "too much stuff" has passed his lips more than once in reference to all the gear we're taking, though. Silly boy. Doesn't he know there's no such thing as "too much stuff?" It's like saying, "too many shoes," or "too much chocolate." Inconceivable. :confused3

So I shouldn't be stressed about being directly under Sessions that closes at 1 AM? Everything else I have read about the room (and location) has been good... except for being far away from drink station, Mickey slide, etc. We won't be getting to hang out in adult areas very much, which all seem to be forward. Guess we took our chances with gty.

Good plan - leaving it on originally scheduled day but did move it to 8:50 pics and 9:00 PJ breakfast. Updated page one.

I know nothing about the nursery, but I wonder if the 11:00 cut off is the latest drop-off time, with the latest pick-up at midnight?

The way it looks to me, we check 30-minute increments... so the last pickup time is at 11:00. The last possible checkmark is 10:30-11:00. Figured if kiddos fall asleep there, then we just tip toe back to the room to transfer to bed.

Smart thinking! And may save with the onboard bill at the end!!!

On a positive note, we are now below 100 degrees and it isn't even 9:00 PM yet!!

Are you in law enforcement? Husband use to be and have a son that's a police officer and I work as a secretary in our local police dept. Hope everything slows down and that you have a safe evening! Good luck! :thumbsup2

I'm a police officer in Bradford, west yorkshire.

Just got in after a 13 hour shift on a 'day off' dressed in full riot kit, firstly dealing with football hooligans and then rioting idiots.

Well just time for a quick beer before bed and see if I get the call tomorrow to do the same again.

Paul

They are saying 65 degrees here tonight and a high of 72 tomorrow!:banana:

I have to admit I did not believe you!!!! Wow, weather.com is being super nice to you guys! My inlaws are in Kansas City, and I think my girls and I may have to go see the grandparents super soon! That is CrAzY!!!

Just in case you miss it... our high is 107 tomorrow. I guess I should be thankful I am not pregnant THIS summer. The summer of 2006 was tough, but this is ridiculous!!!

ETA: weather.com through Aug 18... nothing below 82 and every high is at least 102... SEND RAIN TO TEXAS!!!!!!

I hope things calm down for you guys, but in the meantime thanks for your help in keeping the peace :goodvibes

SEEKING TABLEMATES

goofprincess & DH (Sandy & Tony) and I would like to share a table with about 3, maybe 4, other people.

Singles or couples, old or young. Sandy and Tony are well behaved, civilized people. And I, as you know, can talk, although I do love to hear other peoples' stories. The three of us are all 50-55 yo.

We have early dining and may or may not be included the DIS area of the dining room (depends on others' preferences - although we have to decide in the next 48 hours or so).

We are hoping to find some other like-minded folks who won't be throwing back throughout the meal. (Can you think of a better way to word this without sounding judgmental? :goodvibes)

Honestly, if I could, I would! We've had way too much of the wet stuff here the past week (incl. today)...my flowers are turning yellow :confused3. Makes me think twice about moving to Austin someday....;)

Well, tomorrow is Day 30. Will we see more cabin assignments? Please, please, please (for goodness sakes, how much do I have to beg?):worship::worship::worship::worship::worship:

Well it's started to spread. It's now on to Manchester where there burning shops and bricking police.

I'm all kitted up in a riot van ready to go and give a hand :scared1::scared1:Hope it all goes well. At least I'll be able to put my feet up in 5 weeks and chill out:thumbsup2

Please be safe; really appreciate all you are doing. I am originally from Woolwich, London, last night I was chatting to cousins via Facebook they are livid about the situation, they are going out to help clean the mess when they get the OK from the Police and Special Services.

Still not documents here in Perth, Western Australia, hope they hurry, as we leave here on the 1st September for 8 days in Singapore before the cruise. Have completed the on-line check in so really all we need are the baggage tags, have been told that, worst case, I can collect those when I arrive in Barcelona.

Burnice

Well if I had those, I would not need the weights :lmao:

you also wouldn't be swimming, you'd be walking along the bottom!

hope you and your colleagues stay safe, and a huge thank you for all your efforts in trying to claim back this country from the idiots. :worship:
