Okay, I'm back on the DISboards....

My Mother passed away last Saturday after a lengthy battle with MS & ALS...this last month was difficult for her. :sad1: So sad.... This week was a long, sad one, but it is over. I did find out that I have absolutely wonderful friends...I am so fortunate! Now back to my normal, crazy life. Looking forward to an enjoyable cruise to rejuvenate my spirit. :thumbsup2

I'm so sorry to hear your news. I am sure you have some lovely memories to help you through these difficult months.

Hi Y'all! :wave2::wave2::wave2:
Hope I'm on the right thread now. You guys are fast! :rotfl2: My daughter and I have finally booked. We did the last Med cruise last year and begged to be able to continued on to Cape Canaveral...no room at the Inn. :sad2: Oh well. We are doing it this time!! :cheer2::yay::banana::banana::yay::cheer2: Woohoo!!!
My name is Lisa, 47 and my daughter is JoAnna, 27. We are from Florida. I think it is our 9th Dis cruise but daughter thinks it's out 10th. :confused3 Booked into a Cat 9 GTY room. Already contacted Pat about the FE. Still trying to figure everything else out with meetups, excursions, tshirts etc. We are going to be flying into London for a few days pre cruise and then off to Barcelona for a night. BTW, if anyone else is going to London. LivingSocial has a 1/2 price 3 hours double decker bus tour for 8 pounds today, roughly $13 I believe. Here's the link they gave me if you need it. http://livingsocial.com/deals/68975?ref=conf-jp&rpi=20171237

So excited about the cruise but now we have to hurry up and book stuff, I hate that. Thank you to whoever put the London link on the first page. :worship: Very helpful. I hope to see some of the people from last year on this cruise. It was an incredible cruise!

Hi and welcome. We are all so excited on here, plus we think that THIS week the rooms could be allocated.:dance3: so lots more excitement coming.:rotfl2:

Ape: "Common ancestor, eh? Wow. Scary."

(At the risk of starting a debate over evolution. ;))

For anyone going to the Magic Kingdom--be sure to find a spot somewhere near the front of the castle at least 30 minutes before Wishes. You really want to see the Castle show. I had heard that they were going to show photos that people had taken themselves and photos that had been taken by the Photopass folks during the day. Okay, sounds all right. Wow--was I surprised at the amazing effects on the castle. Sure, the photos are fine, and I'm certain I would be thrilled to see my family displayed. However, the photos are just a small part of the show. There are so many colors, and there are two effects that you don't want to miss. I can't begin to describe them--but I'll tell you they involve a train and a rocket.

As for Wishes, there really is no way to find the perfect spot for viewing. Depending on the wind, the best fireworks can be right above the castle or way to either side. My only rule is try to get a spot where the trees don't block the sky.

In case you can't tell, I LOVE fireworks. Looking forward to the Pirate Party on the Magic.

:offtopic: Sorry!

I was wondering if any of you have taken a class at the Disney Institute? They have some public classes about people management, leadership, service and brand loyalty.

Disney Institute Programs

The classes are held at the resorts and include hands-on time in the resort to see the principles in action.

They are NOT cheap, though - like $3,500 to $5,000 for a 3.5 to 5 day class!

It seems like learning how Disney does things would be some great skills for your career!

I was wondering if one of my US friends would be able to help me out please? :flower3:

Some of you may have seen this subject raised on our facebook page recently but if not i'll explain. Due to using the MEO special offer code for European residents when booking this cruise and therefore paying in £'s we are not able to pre book any of the gifts and amenities, wine package etc beforehand as DCL's system is not able to convert the payment from $'s to £'s to process the order. For whatever unknown reason they have also decided that we can not order it as a "gift" and pay in $'s either. :confused3 After months of trying myself, Michelle (Squitty) and a few others have given up. :headache:

Anyway I was wondering if one of my US friends are going to be ordering anything for themselves? If so would you mind ordering the Beer Mug Package for me (well for my DH ;) ) it is $14.95 (possibly plus tax?) and having it delivered to your stateroom, then I could either pick it up from you or maybe you could bring it to the 3pm Promenade lounge DIS meet, whatever is convenient for you. I will paypal the money straight away. The only reason I want to order this before we get onboard is because i've heard they ran out on the last WBTA so my thoughts are if you pre order then you'll be more likely to get it if they have limited stock.

Thanks for reading. :goodvibes

Sorry to say it has been gone a while...we were there in March & again in May, but no ship. :sad2:

I understand it was disintegrating in the water since it was built as a prop & not to withstand the salt water. Maybe they will retore & bring it back...we can always hope so. :thumbsup2

Thanks for correcting me! :thumbsup2 Sorry to give out bad information Blake.

I guess we were lucky that it was there when we visited in May last year.... When did they move it? I'm sure there was an uproar on the cruise board.

Hi Liz and Joe! Love Sarasota! Thanks for the nice welcome :goodvibes

I think its so cool that you are taking this cruise as a mother-daughter trip. :goodvibes One of the best things about this cruise is that you get to spend lots of quality time w/ whoever you are traveling with

Thanks for the offer, but I ended up calling them. Turns out the October dates for the dessert party haven't been entered into the system yet. I'll have to keep checking regularly - sounds like it fills up fast.

I asked them about the Flying Fish Chef's dinner, but when they quoted the price, I started thinking, "We could almost do Vicky & Bert's for that." So I think I'll talk it over with Dennis and see if he wants to splurge on V&B's or just go to Cali Grill.

And it's a good thing I called, too. When the CM asked for my resort ressie number, we discovered they had it booked for November, not October!! :scared1::scared1: I almost had a heart attack! So she got me to a resort ressie CM who fixed it right away. It even came out $100 less! So it's a good thing the dining website wasn't working for me, otherwise I might not have discovered the error for a while.

Pat, you guys are booked in at a discount rate right? I just wanted to check b/c if not, you want to keep your eye on that specials & discount codes thread on the resorts board.

Well, V&A is on your Bucket List and it's not a whole lot more + it's your anniversary... what are you waiting for? Can you get a reservation?

I agree w/ Lynne!! Go for it!

Thanks never knew about photobucket until I saw people talking about it and thought I would check it out
Not a problem, offer is always there, only my folks and myself at the table.
Burnice
We really appreciate it, we loved it last year however husband did not get to watch the parade to many people and to far away.

I don't like the look that ape is giving your DH ...very scary :scared1:
No matter what he said I think he was, I think the ape was wanting to grab his hat. Everyone I think was more scared when the ape opened the window and went into the van, everyone thought he was going to go thru their stuff.

Great pics... your DH looks very scared. :lmao:
No matter what he said I think he was scared too.

Yeap.

Thanks for the information we will definately get closer than we usually do.:thumbsup2

I ordered 4 of these on Friday (2 for us and 2 for two of our UK friends) -like you said, it was a big to-do with the whole currency exchange thing - even to do it as a gift! To make it easy, I ended up having 4 sent to our room and then I will just get them their two once we are onboard.

They are charging $14.95 plus 15% gratuity and 18% VAT, so it comes out to $20.30 for the mug, FYI.

I would order one for you, but like I said, I already have 4 coming - I already will look like someone with a "problem!" :)

I am going to order one of those for myself, I will be happy to include you in my order, so, consider it DONE:thumbsup2. I don't have a room assignment yet and I was kind of waiting for that, but since you said they have run out before, I guess I should go ahead and do it now. I will get right on it.

:worship: :worship: :worship: Thank you so much Evelyn, my DH will be very happy when I tell him when he gets in from work tonight. :)

They maybe first come first served so it can't hurt to do it now. If you PM me with your paypal email address and i'll send you the money straight away. Thank you again. :flower3:

So very sorry to hear of your loss Peggy. Our thoughts and prayers are with you an your family. We lost our Dad 5 years ago and still miss him terribly.

Welcome to all the new cruisers. We are Sue and my sister Vickie. Our DH's opted to stay home. Their loss. Peace for us. This is our 4th DCL cruise and about 10th cruise overall. We love cruising. So excited to meet everyone on board. Can't wait.

Chris, when do you want the money for the Pub Crawl t-shirts? We are going to Disneyland August 9th and would like to pay you beforehand.

I hope to send out emails on this this afternoon when I get home or tomorrow. I have them all ready to go in my drafts folder but am waiting until I approve the art with the t-shirt printer.

I placed the order Saturday AM and uploaded the art at that time. I want to make sure they don't have any kinds of issues with saying we are using copyrighted images (mickey ear shapes) or something before I have people send me payments.

I hope to get an art proof that I can approve today and once I have that, I'll contact everyone for payment & shipping info.

I had that problem too Claire  I wanted to order a birthday package for Chanelle :cake::bday: but apparently "Disney Magic" doesn't work if you've paid in £££ :sad2:

I was going to offer to do this, but....I see you no longer need me too! Just thought I would repost in case anyone else is in the same situation & needs something ordered in dollars. :cool1:

Such a shame Mel, you can't get anyone to do this for you either as they won't put it in your cabin. :headache: Maybe ask at Guest services when you get on the ship? They have the stuff onboard anyway so don't see why they can't do it......then again I don't see why they can't let us order now & just charge in $'s either. :sad2:

Welcome to all the new cruisers that have joined over the weekend, we are Annemarie and Hazel from the UK and this will be our first cruise.

Can't believe it'll be just 6 weeks on Saturday until we leave- still so much to do!:scared1:

We called virgin this afternoon to enquire about upgrade price from inside to oceanview stateroom and they wanted a whopping £1600 extra :scared1::scared1:

We said unless we a- win lottery or b- get pixie dusted we are more than happy with what we have!
