hope you feel better soon  if you can't make the cruise i dont mind taking over the candy swap, not planning on taking part (luggage allowances!) but i dont mind running it

I think it is just serious cases of HOPE!!! But, it really must be very soon!!!

why do people think its today?!

Last cruise, I booked 4 dummy cruises. I couldn't use any of these for this purchase since the rate we received for this WBTA was only for new bookings. If you don't know which cruise you will take you can always keep transferring forward or cancel for no extra fee. On the EBTA in May there was no limit of cruises you could book. That may have changed, so I would check. Also the discount was extended to friends and family as well of current passengers. Ask when on board about this. They have a draw sometime in the middle of the cruise or so for 100.00. The more cruises you book, the higher your chances. Also, the wait times are extremely short in the first days of the cruise and progressively gets longer as you wait to the end of the cruise to book a future cruise.

Of all the options I like to carry cash from home and credit card. I stay away from ATMs (emergency only) since I don't like the fees the banks charge. Remember, the less cash you bring, the less you will spend. Also, remember that cash can be stolen. Thieves in Barcelona can smell the scent of cash. pirate: How? I have no idea. Bring cash but be careful. Thieves are at ATMs as well, so be careful. After having been robbed last year while in Barcelona, we now carry a whistle on our wrists. A whistle is wonderful, but both times we were robbed last year, we didn't notice until a bystander tapped our shoulder afterwards and told us what had just happened. (we didn't feel or see a thing, but locals do since it is a big problem in the larger cities) Remember again---pack your passports and cash separately. I just spoke to someone last night in a local store here who told me, "remember the story about your being robbed in Barcelona last year, well, it happened to my daughter's friend on their way to the cruise ship. His carryon bag was left in the taxi as the last item in the car, and just as he was turning to retrieve it, the taxi took off.It had everything in it--passports, cameras & memories of their visit in europe pre-cruise, cash, credit cards. They could not board the cruiseship as a result". Whether this was an honest mistake or not by the taxi driver, taking off with the carryon bag, these 2 lost everything important to them including the cruise.

On a happier note---45 days left until we leave. WOOOHOOO:cool1:

Noel...could you please put in your Welcome Page about anyone who wants to join me on this countdown for "HealthErcise". It will begin today and they can PM me. It took me a week to figure out how this could work. I have made a log sheet where we will watch portions, not needed fats, and exercise daily from today Day 45 to Day 1---and continue with the exercise and meet on the cruise for daily support.
Just a question, has anyone had difficulty with the portions while on cruise?
What has worked if you were concerned with this? I tried on Boarding Day to request for low-salt, half portion meals at Rockin'D Bar (this is when all special diets, seating, etc is to be made) but my requests could not be accomodated. I cannot let food be thrown away. There was nobody at my table who wanted only half a portion, so that idea didn't work either. I am curious to know what worked for others if portions is a concern. I love the dinners, will order and eat everything, but I only want half. Impossible to order since I was told plates are arranged in mass numbers ahead of time, quickly.

I will be happy to add this to the Welcome Wagon post. Please send me a PM as to exactly what you would like me to say.

I would try contact DCL now or your TA to ask for low-salt, half portion meals to see if it is even possible. We always ask for low salt and it doesn't seem to be a problem.

why do people think its today?!

I really don't know other than I think someone over on the FB page mentioned not being able to access something and she wondered if it meant DCL were downloading the room numbers. Perhaps that is what spread as a Chinese Whisper to be a definite for today!!!

lol, amazing how some things can snowball!

well there's no cat 11s left, or cat 9d's. so either a load of people have been upgraded to take up the 9d's, or i'm down in steerage!

First, thanks so much for that - I forgot about the friends & family offers. Speaking of which, did they get the 10% and the OBC depending on their CC status with DCL? No need to put yourself in the res, right? Thanks!!!

The portions on DCL really are a problem, I think, and they keep getting bigger! When we first sailed years ago, they really were smaller, so I'm thinking people have requested the larger ones. (?) I don't like to toss food either, and made myself the human garbage disposal...

One thing that I did was share with DH, but to do this right, I'm thinking if you request an extra plate & ONE dinner (for 2 people) they will get the idea. :confused3

.

Oddly enough, on our last cruise, I thought portions were getting smaller.

I sometimes do not order a main course, if I order an app & a salad. Or, I'll have the app as my main. I have absolutely no problem leaving what I don't want - the starving children in Somolia are not going to be better fed because I ate what I didn't need.

Isn't today 45 days?

I think someone said the rooms last year were assigned at 45 days out...which is where today came from. Or maybe a plant from DCL to make everyone crazy...:rotfl:

I was checking the thread for the EBTA that sailed May 14, 2011 and it looks like people were posting on March 31, 2011 and saying they got their cabin assignment....so it could be any day now!

I bet many have been upgraded!!

I did think the desserts portions were miniscule on the Wonder in January. I couldn't believe it.

Might be me miscalculating buy I thought today is 46 days out?

The countdown ticker on my iphone says 46 days out. But I picked a specific cabin so I am not in the same "boat" as you GTY people. I hope you get your room numbers soon. Waiting sucks. I have absolutly no patience at all. :)

Leanne, thanks for posting the photos. I had no idea what it would be like and it looks lovely. Are you going to be living there long term?

Yes, we are actually planning to be here a while. DH has serveral clients in this area of the world and that's why we are here. (He's a computer tech.) So until that changes, we'll be here and going home every once in a while to be with family.

It would be neat to see where everyone else lives, too!

Good news, folks - a friend of mine got with a friend of hers that owns a screen printing company and he will do the pub crawl shirts for us!

He acknowledged Disney being overly litigious sometimes but said that with the small quantity and me being a friend of hers, he'd do it.

No one would be able to tell where they came from or who did them anyway. My lips are sealed! :rolleyes1

I'm a bit behind on the boards as we have been so busy working ...

What a great FE. Did you use a pattern for that or did you just do it on your own?

Thank you everyone for your very kind compliments on my FE. I was pretty pleased with how it turned out  It wasn't made from a pattern, I just drew out the shape of a boat like I've been drawing ever since grade school. It is made out of felt so it is pretty forgiving.

We love WL too, it is our favourite resort. I was amazed when we first walked into that lobby, it was Christmas time too - so even more special. :lovestruc

If you love WL then you would love the Pacific Northwest ... it's the real thing! Christmas here is a lot colder though and might even include snow

No probs, glad I could help. :) Can you buy the bag over there? Or is it only available in the UK?
The bag is only available in the UK I think, but there is a UK seller on eBay :goodvibes

I was wondering where you were, glad things are ok just busy. :)

I am sure I would love the Pacific Northwest, but maybe not when it's snowing. ;) We only get a little over here in comparison but I don't like it.

Ah ok, I was going to say if you get stuck I could get it for you. :thumbsup2

Peggy, so sorry for the loss of you mom. :grouphug:

Excellent news!! We will never tell :rolleyes1

For those that are familiar with Barcelona, what do you recommend we can do to prevent theft? Would a fanny pack worn in front and under my shirt be enough? Should I have DH put his wallet in it instead of in his back pocket? I am really nervous about it now. TIA for any advice you would have.
