We're booked on the Dream for a 4-nighter in October for our 2nd anniversary, followed by 3 nights at WDW. We've been discussing the possibility of cancelling that and going to WDW for the full week.

The cost would be roughly the same as we are getting a military discount on the room at WDW. No discounts for Dream cruise, except our early booking discount. We would be staying at the WL, Club Level Honeymoon Room. We would also be using the new Military Salute tickets that start in October.

So here's the thing:

We can have a more relaxed time at WDW than we usually do when we take the cruise and then try to do F&WF. We'd have to buy meals (which are included on the cruise) but we usually snack our way around Epcot and do counter service meals, and we can get breakfast and snacks at the Club lounge. Might splurge on one or two "grown up" meals - maybe at Artist's Point or Boma. It would also give us 3 choices for MNSSHP instead of just one. And our bar tab tends to be less at WDW than on the cruises!

It's looking like the Dream is going to be sold out (or close to it) and it's unlikely we'd get to book Palo brunch (heard those are already booked) or Remy or get a cabana at Serenity Bay, which we really wanted to do.

On the other hand:

We did get a good price on the cruise - not sure we could do that well any time soon. And it IS the Dream.

What do you think we should do?

It's a tough one but for me I would do the Dream!!! It is AMAZING! :cloud9: I would go on it again in a heartbeat! We were on the Maiden Voyage and we couldn't get Palo, Remy or a Cabana but to be totally honest there is so much to see on the ship and all the new restaurants that it didn't matter one bit.

I say Go for it, it will be a such a special way to celebrate your anniversary. :lovestruc

Plus you still get 3 nights at WL, MNSSHP and F&W. :thumbsup2

Just found out my waitlist for main dining came through, yay! :)

Taryn is such a pretty girl Sarah. She looks so young, but then you don't look old enough to have children the ages they are. So, must be genetic!!

Thank you for the compliment, but these days I look in the mirror and see a droopy old woman :sad2: Taryn however doesn't look 20, some of her colleagues in the shop thought she was 14 and wondered how she got employed there !!

I made this one for our last cruise, but we had a very small FE group, and I'm hoping it will still work. The pocket is 7"W x 6"D will it be ok do you think? We never got anything too bulky as a gift, and with the crazy baggage allowance that most people will choose something fairly small .. am I right?

That is a really cute one :goodvibes I am personally looking at making small items.

Personally I would do the cruise and the 3 days at WDW, then you get the best of both worlds even if it may be less relaxing in the WDW bit as you try and squish everything into 3 days.

Or an idea I had for the Dream MV (there were over 100 cabins taking part) was to also hang a gift bag behind that FE incase it was full then people could use that too. They also hang flat when empty so no big deal if it doesn't get used.

Great idea for those with a small FE :thumbsup2

102 degrees here now - feels hotter than florida!

You're going on this cruise, right? If it was me, I'd skip the Dream and stay at the world:thumbsup2

We'll be looking for Taryn right after this cruise! She's just as cute as a button, Sarah!

102 degrees here now - feels hotter than florida!

Us too - I am over it! I guess I shouldn't complain a ton, though - we have only had this for a week - it's my understanding that Texas, Oklahoma, etc have had 100 degree temps every single day for three straight weeks now!

Awww thanks ..... she leaves there on 2nd September though, when we get to Florida she will be visiting with friends in Seattle. Bit of a climate change for her :scared1:

Pat you've got to do the dream cruise. We got a good discount on ours onboard and can't wait after seeing Claires MV pics. We couldn't get palo or remy either, but can't wait to try the new restaurants and bars.

Go for it, I think it's going to be FABulous and such an adventure exploring the new ship :cool1:

WDW and F&WF will always be there :thumbsup2

We also get military discounts and if you are thinking you might want to sail the Dream at another time, I would do the week in WDW and take advantage of all of your days with the new Military Salute tickets, esp if you won't make it back to WDW to use up any remaining days. I have not looked at the new ones yet so don't know all the rules for these - they change each year. There is so much great food at the Food and Wine festival and you could snack your way around. We once had the dining plan when it was going on and we had booked Le Cellier at Epcot for lunch and I really wanted to try other things from the Food and Wine but didn't because of our big lunch there. And having the extra choices at the MNSSHP is also good. You could save a park ticket that day and just go to the party since you can get in at 4pm (at least you used to be able to). Stay out late the night before and sleep in and rest up! You'll have fun whatever you decide to do! :goodvibes

basically any other saturday. its just that i found out that i've got that whole weekend off work (never ever ever been given the WHOLE weekend off work) and thinking we might try and get up to scotland to see garys parents.

Thats really cool, I remember how special weekends off were when I worked in retail. Sadly, that is our only free day. I could bore you with the details but yep that is all we have. So Little time so much to do as they say.

Guess we will have to wait to meet you guys on board. :-)

Dan

Us too - I am over it! I guess I shouldn't complain a ton, though - we have only had this for a week - it's my understanding that Texas, Oklahoma, etc have had 100 degree temps every single day for three straight weeks now!

We're in South Texas and its hot from April till Oct usually! 100 is normal this time of year, but its the lack of rain that's killing us! And the trees! Its survival of the fittest for the pines - looks like every 3rd or 4th one has turned brown! :sad1:

Well, you can't lose either way, but I would choose the cruise as sailing on the Dream would be a brand new experience that will make your anniversary even more special.

They weren't being sold on here, it was a gift exchange. :)

You mean like a Secret Mickey thing?
I
guess we both have good taste. ;) That bag is cute but $130!

I think you could sew some padding in to it, to create some sections. I think you would need to do a little padding for the bottom too as it is a very thin canvas but seems fairly strong.

I guess for $30 if it doesn't turn out to be a great camera bag then you have a cute shopping bag or flight bag. :goodvibes

Oh and mine didn't come with a carrying strap just the two handles on the top. :confused3

See great taste again!!! What cute pens! :tink:

I did wonder why Ed wanted them. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Ed's were Mickey ones, he loves pens. I bought 5 sets of the Tink pens to give to girlfriends for their birthdays this year, I know they'll love them.

That is ADORABLE!!!!!! :worship:

I guess it depends on how many groups you are in, if you get several FE gifts & some Candy on the same day then you may not have room in the one pouch. Could you add another two pouches, with your names on below? Or an idea I had for the Dream MV (there were over 100 cabins taking part) was to also hang a gift bag behind that FE incase it was full then people could use that too. They also hang flat when empty so no big deal if it doesn't get used.

Thanks for your input Claire, I think I will give it a shot, after all what do I have to lose, the bag is cute whatever it ends up getting used for. I think I will follow your idea of the gift bag as an overflow.

I've got the roll of magnetic strip for my magnets too. Used it last year for our door magnets and it worked out perfectly (until we flew back into New York and security confiscated the remaining roll because it looked suspicious! Makes me wonder why none of the other airports picked up on it when it went through the x-ray machine????)

that is odd!

First up; :worship: Lynne for the recap!

And yep, I'm back in town. Sorta. Long story short; they couldn't get me down with the sedation. Warned them for it, but as usual it got brushed away with a "we've got enough, never seen that happen and you're just a smallish girl, don't worry". Sure. So back home with nothing done except me learning that some very basic health items are not being taken care of (will be bringing family/friends along to avoid this from now on), being horibly sick from the meds they used to try and get me down and losing a scare amount of weight. Fingers crossed I can get myself back together somewhat, in which case a new attempt will be done on Wednesday. You guys won't believe how peed off I am and made that very clear yesterday. Only 7 weeks to recover if that doesn't fail in the condition I'm in now........ somebody in that hospital isn't going to survive if I don't make this cruise if I have any say in it.

Adding my thanks to Lynn. And so sorry you had to go through all this, like medical procedures are not stressful enough.

Anyhoo... hello again! I'll save you a repeat from my jammering in thread 4 (that was sooooo 5 minutes ago :rotfl:) and just say that my family and I will be joining all you lovely people on the Disney Magic in September. This will be our second Disney cruise (the first was also a transatlantic Disney cruise, only the Eastbound one, lol) and we are really looking forward to it. We had such a fabulous time last year!

It will be just the three of us, my husband, my 4 year old daughter (who is already dreaming about the kidsclub) and myself.

Nice to (sort of) meet you! :dance3:

welcome!

Be careful what you wish for Claire :rolleyes1

I was googling something and found this ... it's made out of Lego ..

pretty nifty, huh?

super cool! DS loves it

So I'm thinking of decorating my door gradually over the cruise, adding something everyday. I know there's a rule of no tape to adhere objects to the door, but is their anything about covering your door with paper (cutting out a hole for the room number and door handle) and sticking it to the door with magnets? Fire hazard? haha I just drew up something kinda cool and think it would be fun for me and cruise mates to see a scene build over 14 days.
that is neat, i hope you are somewhere I walk past every day

I've decided to cheat and take the easy way out in making my "travelling magnet"! I just got a Disney scrapbook page and I'll back it with something sturdy and put magnets on the back. I'm still working on FE's and don't really want another project right now.....hence.....a shortcut! :goodvibes I believe my husband may have done some test messages before (sorry!).

Oh that opens up all sorts of ideas....hmmmmmmm
