I am afraid I am very much a fair weather camper ( ie wimp )

I'm with you! I grew up going on camping trips with my family, in a tent-camper (my mom refused to sleep on the ground). We stayed in some fairly "primitive" campgrounds (read: no running water; a.k.a. "pit" toilets).

As a result of that trauma, I now consider "roughing it" to be a hotel without room service.

Hi all,

Someone said something about a DIS meet up in Orlando next week I think for the kids? We're at WDW all next week. If this is going on, please advise.

Keri

That was me, the kids are meeting up for our cruise on the Dream on 2nd august, DD isn't coming on the WBTA with us.

We are at WDW next week too

hazel, not sure i can make the 13th august for the kent meet up, is there any other date cliffy can make or is that it?

We got our assignment last year 45 days out. Good luck everyone and I hope there's some pixie dust out there. I'll check in next week from WDW to see what everyone gets.

Have a lovely time Mandy, you're braver than me, I can't do outdoors, too scared of creepy crawlies :scared1:

Off to finish packing, 2 sleeps till Mickey Mouse :woohoo:

We don't but if you ask Claire, she got the exact same bag in a recent disboards exchange!

They were selling them on the disboards ... how did I miss that?

Hi Karen,

I have this bag. It is not made of fabric it's like a thin canvas type of material. Although I really like the bag personally I wouldn't use it for a camera bag, my SLR is too precious. I think the camera would get knocked about and scratched by everything else in the bag.

It's more of a hand luggage type bag or an overnight bag.

Hope that helps.

Wow what a small world, I want that bag and you have it

For some time now I have been looking at this bag for my camera:

il_570xN_247595136.jpg

and the inside is cozy like this:

il_570xN_252389040.jpg

but it will end up costing $130, so I was thinking I could sew up some padding for the inside of the Minnie bag, as the dimensions are much the same. The minnie bag is about $30 so I like the savings, and the fact that it's somewhat unique as a camera bag, but do you think the bag is strong enough to hold up. It's advertised as having a carry strap, is that something different than the handles that are attached? I am undecided as to what I should do, Ed said that he doesn't want to carry a Minnie bag, so I would always have to be the one that ends up carrying it :rolleyes1

basically any other saturday. its just that i found out that i've got that whole weekend off work (never ever ever been given the WHOLE weekend off work) and thinking we might try and get up to scotland to see garys parents.

:

you can check in from WDW with a nice cup of english tea ;)

Have a great trip Mandy - sounds fantastic. :thumbsup2

Well my material for the FE has arrived - wish me luck, I am going to need it :rotfl:

Did you manage to find the instructions?

We are at WDW next week too

If you are going to Hollywood Studios ... pop into Mickey's of Hollywood and Keystone Clothing stores ( left side as you enter the park ) to see if you can spot Taryn. Sometimes she can be working at a hub cart on the left hand side of the hat.

This is what she looks like:

DSCF5792.jpg

When on the hub carts she wears something different .... shirt and long shorts with a white cap. Didn't get a photo of that costume though as she hadn't done a shift on those until we left.

you'll have to show us the finished product michelle :)
I will do Karen - if it ever gets finished ;)
If all else fails, remember, the glue gun is your friend! ;)

When I said I "eye-balled" mine, I mean I just kind of played with fabrics to see what would go together. As far as measurements go, the only thing you have to watch is the width (as someone mentioned previously). Mine is 8in wide. I think 8.5in is about the max.
Thanks Pat - I will go and buy a glue gun just incase:thumbsup2
You will do just fine with you FE's! :thumbsup2 I'm just about done with mine. Whew!:banana:
Deb you could've done mine too if I'd of known you were making one:goodvibes

Taryn is such a pretty girl Sarah. She looks so young, but then you don't look old enough to have children the ages they are. So, must be genetic!!

Thats what I did. I have just retrieved mine out of the drawer and found it needs a few repairs doing to it.

I made this one for our last cruise, but we had a very small FE group, and I'm hoping it will still work. The pocket is 7"W x 6"D will it be ok do you think? We never got anything too bulky as a gift, and with the crazy baggage allowance that most people will choose something fairly small .. am I right?

I love this! :)

We're booked on the Dream for a 4-nighter in October for our 2nd anniversary, followed by 3 nights at WDW. We've been discussing the possibility of cancelling that and going to WDW for the full week.

The cost would be roughly the same as we are getting a military discount on the room at WDW. No discounts for Dream cruise, except our early booking discount. We would be staying at the WL, Club Level Honeymoon Room. We would also be using the new Military Salute tickets that start in October.

So here's the thing:

We can have a more relaxed time at WDW than we usually do when we take the cruise and then try to do F&WF. We'd have to buy meals (which are included on the cruise) but we usually snack our way around Epcot and do counter service meals, and we can get breakfast and snacks at the Club lounge. Might splurge on one or two "grown up" meals - maybe at Artist's Point or Boma. It would also give us 3 choices for MNSSHP instead of just one. And our bar tab tends to be less at WDW than on the cruises!

It's looking like the Dream is going to be sold out (or close to it) and it's unlikely we'd get to book Palo brunch (heard those are already booked) or Remy or get a cabana at Serenity Bay, which we really wanted to do.

On the other hand:

We did get a good price on the cruise - not sure we could do that well any time soon. And it IS the Dream.

What do you think we should do?

Wow what a small world, I want that bag and you have it

They weren't being sold on here, it was a gift exchange. :)

I guess we both have good taste. ;) That bag is cute but $130!

I think you could sew some padding in to it, to create some sections. I think you would need to do a little padding for the bottom too as it is a very thin canvas but seems fairly strong.

I guess for $30 if it doesn't turn out to be a great camera bag then you have a cute shopping bag or flight bag. :goodvibes

Oh and mine didn't come with a carrying strap just the two handles on the top. :confused3

For the Fairy lover in you I just bought a few Disney pens for Ed's birthday and came across this great deal on a Tinkerbell pen and pencil set for $20. They arrived yesterday and they are sooo cute and great quality too, so I thought I'd pass the website on to you. http://www.executiveessentials.com/Retro-51-Disney-Tinkerbell-Pen-Pencil-Set/RET-PS-PR1TB1

ETA: the Tink pens were for me not Ed

See great taste again!!! What cute pens! :tink:

I did wonder why Ed wanted them. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

That is ADORABLE!!!!!! :worship:

I guess it depends on how many groups you are in, if you get several FE gifts & some Candy on the same day then you may not have room in the one pouch. Could you add another two pouches, with your names on below? Or an idea I had for the Dream MV (there were over 100 cabins taking part) was to also hang a gift bag behind that FE incase it was full then people could use that too. They also hang flat when empty so no big deal if it doesn't get used.
