*Sept 10th 2011 WB Transatlantic* - From Spain to Space Mountain - Part 5

Someone mentioned having irrational fears about her FE gifts, and I'm just going to say I think it's normal 'cuz every once in awhile I think the same silly things. Then I realize that it's the magic of finding something-anything-in my FE pocket as a surprise that is the joy. I could find an old fuzzy q-tip and be excited--because someone thought to give me a lil something. :yay:

As your role model, I think my first duty will be to raise your expectations just a bit. :rotfl2:

FE PARTICIPANTS

I have copied the entire document by hand into a spreadsheet and have sorted it two ways - within each group by room number, and, for those of us giving to everyone - by room number over the whole list (which removes the duplicates). There are A LOT of people with room numbers yet to be determined.

IF you would like your group or the entire list sorted in that manner, please pm me your group name, and your email address.

I did the same thing with the Candy Swap list, at least the part removing the duplicates. So if you're in Group 1 and want this, let me know. It's actually a table in MS Word, but I may have a go at putting in Excel. We also have a lot of TBD rooms. (Hel-loooo, DCL - you're seriously interfering with our planning here!)

Yes, excellent idea! I've been working all day (12 hours doing a wedding... a LOT of nails!) so I haven't been on the board today. I would love to help.

I'll bring a bunch of polish and glitter with me to sparkle up our princesses (I can do happy faces on the boys nails if they like?) I even have some Mickey Mouse nail stickers to share :)

I am not bringing my princess but I would be more than happy, even crazy excited, to do the little princesses makeup. I will have my stuff with me. I could maybe even bring little lip glosses or something for each girl if people tell me a head of time.

Mandy.. I used to be a hair dresser many many many moons ago...:rotfl2:
Anyway... I would be happy to fix Sarah's hair... actually would love to get my hands on it.. it is so beautiful.... I also have practice doing my daughter's and grand daughters hair... Do I qualify yet? :confused3

I'll bring a few things to do it with... let me know.. after all, I am her Fairy God Mother.....

Well, I guess that leaves me to dance around, sprinkle magic dust on everyone (it's not pixie dust, after all) and sing "Bibbity Bobbity Boo" - off key.

:rotfl: :rotfl: Just the kind of role model I need!

I can join in on any off-key songs we do!

I  you ladies!!!

So when and where will the Pixie Dust be sprinkled upon these Princesses?

Not Pixie Dust! That bimbo Tink isn't wielding the wand here. It's Fairy Godmother Dust. (FGD - that doesn't quite work, does it? Suggestions?)

So now I have to find a princess gift, a wand, and FGD. Just adding these to my shopping list. Wait - I actually have a wand. Will a Harry Potter wand work? Dennis is going to think I'm nuts. Silly man. I'll have to send him to the bar with the other cavemen.

LOVE IT!!! :thumbsup2

So tell us how you REALLY feel about Tink ;)

Most definitely, Jill! I picked up a little clip and small tiara at Sam Moon today. And I think you saw her with her hair in a ponytail. When I try fixing it right after it is washed, it is manageable. (Like a MUST DO on Sunday mornings before church. Can't wash it the night before.) Love her color and ringlets, but if that hair is dry, no comb will go through it.

Mandy, I can't believe how funny this struck me, I was just thinking YESTERDAY if Sam Moon was still around and still a fun place to go for jewelry! When I taught in Lubbock and we went to trainings in Dallas we made a point to go to Sam Moon! How funny! I bought one at Hobby Lobby today in the wedding section, I need to go back with another coupon tomorrow to get one for my other daughter. Okay, back to happy planning! :goodvibes
Mindi

I think I just finished our magnets. FE are half done. Tshirts are about to be printed to iron-on. And I have no clue what we are going to do in Barcelona. Any suggestions for a family of four?? :confused3

I think we want to get a T10 and use the metro as we are staying by Placa Catalunya and arriving Thursday morning. I'd like to see the main attractions. I need help. This is the only part of the trip I am still unsure of. I have pulled this from others I have read online. Overkill? Crazy with kids? (And you remember I'm the one who loves hiking and sleeping in tents...)

Day 1 - Thursday - Gaudi
Arrive about 7:30 AM, Aerobus to hotel, hopefully drop off bags
Some sort of food
metro to Sangrada Familia!
Then to a market to get lunch and onto Parc Guell - metro stop Lesseps and bus 24
then bus 24 or metro Diagonal, walk down Passeig de Gracia and see Casa Mila and Casa Batello
My guess is we will be exhausted then, check in, shower, nap.
Dinner: Ciutat Comtal - TripAdvisor top 30 restaurants, great tapas and house wine apparently. Go early since we have kiddos.

Day 2 - Friday
Walk to Las Ramblas
see Palau Guell
shop at the market -Mercat Boqueria
Visit the Placa reial
then Hard Rock 6:30, after dinner up to the magic fountains for 9:30 show, metro Espanya and then walk up the road

Saturday:
Show up at port early to see who the heck chartered the Magic on Sept 3
No seriously... 10:30-11:00 port arrival time is what we have.

I didn't even think of Hobby Lobby, Mindi! But yes - too funny! You will laugh that I can count on just two hands the number of times I have been there! I saw a friend up at school today, and mentioned the tiara. She told me to go there, so my girls and I trucked it on down. Of course, since it was nap time, I had NO time to look for anything for ME. Someone couldn't keep her hands out of everything in sight and someone else couldn't stop complaining that there were toys in the store nextdoor.

For Barcelona, this is roughly what Matt has planned for us, family of 5, to try to do on Friday. I don't know how it will turn out until we try it! It might look sort of odd, I copied it from a spreadsheet.

Breakfast at hotel
Sagrada Familia
Placa de Catalunya (L2 from Sagrada Familia to Catalunya )
La Rambla
La Rambla (Granja Viader)
La Rambla/Mercat
La Rambla/Mercat
Barri Gotic (Carrer de Ferran from La Rambla)
Barri Gotic (end at Jaume I)
Travel to Montjuic(Metro L4, L1, L2/Funicular)
Montjuic
Travel to Parc Guell (L2/L3). Stop Lesseps, then Bus 24 to Parc entrance
Travel L3 from Lesseps to Diagonal
See Gaudi homes in area
Head back to hotel (L4, L1 to Glories)
Eat
Font Magica at Palau Nacionale (every 30 minutes from 9pm to 11pm)
Head back to hotel (L1 from Espanya to Glories)

Hope that might help!

Yes, it DOES! Thank you! :thumbsup2
Now can he plan out the weather as well? ;) I'm trying to remember what a high of 80 feels like, and since we are running close to 110, I guess that means we need our jackets.

Barcelona Weather

Ooops! I didn't mean to imply that I was "Gold" in any sense than I had booked a long time ago...sorry, confusing I guess - this is will be my first DCL cruise so right now I am...nothing? :sad1:
Nope, not nothing....you're preparing for one of the most amazing vacations you'll ever have :goodvibes :thumbsup2 :dance3:

Mandy, for someone with no idea what to do in Barca, you definitely have an idea what to do in Barca! Sounds like a great plan....now I have to google Ciutat Comtal.....

See you at the Hard Rock! :cool1:

Barcelona Weather

Hmmm,,,a high of 80, I think it will feel great! :cloud9: I can't imagine needing a jacket, it has been so long! We'll definitely be looking at the weather when it's a little closer to knowing. I imagine we should bring something slightly warm, in case we are caught in a cool down!

Calling all FE participants! Please read!

Inspired by Linda, I was just updating room numbers for the FE on my Excel spreadsheet. It seems I forgot to do that when I updated the Google doc. Here are the people on my list who don't have their room numbers yet:

3candianslovedisney
Berries97
Dgentrysim
Dizneycrazee
dreamscomealive
eeyorelvr10
fontabel
GatorMomInNC
giraffe104
Goofy Adpi
heatherLOVEmickey/TheViking
JessicasMom
KristiLynnG
kthomas618
Liesbeth1012
njmom23grls
PinkPug
ThePicketts
WilliamK99

If you are on this list and have your room number, or if you are NOT on the list and are still waiting for your room number, please PM me and let me know that. PMs will be best as my brain gets more fried the closer we get to leaving, and I'll miss the message if you send it any other way. Thanks!

ETA: Could everyone please double check their room number on the Google doc and let me know (PM) if yours is wrong. If it's right, you don't need to PM me. Thanks!

geez, Pat, I'm glad you did that BEFORE I sent the list out! I've got more people without room numbers than you do!

I know. I think I'm entering panic/paranoia mode as we get closer to sailing. I'll probably have nightmares about messing up everyone's room number and being made to walk the plank. pirate: I found one (who I've PM'ed) where I have one room number on one list and a different number on the other. All I could think was, "oh no, please let this be the only one."

Pat, don't worry about the darn list! Everybody will get something - I have more than enough and will put something in every FE I see, whether I'm signed up for it or not.

Dennis and I were discussing how much money we should get in Euros and GBPs, and I started wondering aloud about something. He said, "How will you find out about that?" and I said, "I'll ask on the DIS. They'll know." So here it is.

If we have "leftover" Euros and GBPs, is there any real disadvantage to applying them to our on-board account - like, lousy exchange rates?

When I checked with my bank about buying foreign currency, they said they'll only buy it back in units of $250! They also charge a fee to buy it in the first place, which totally sucks b/c I've had accounts there for ages. So I was thinking, if we don't spend it all at the European ports and Barca, and we can't sell it back to the bank, we might as well spend it on the ship. Thoughts?
