OK silly question here. What do you all from the States do about cell phones when you are international? I have a verizon iphone so using it internationally is not an option (unless I use it at a wifi hot spot....like an itouch).

Thanks,

Keri

I have a AT&T Iphone4. Last year when I was on a EBTA I was able to use it when in port. You should check with Verizon to see about International Roaming. AT&T has that for $5.99 a month, then it's 99 cents a minute, I then cancelled my International Roaming when I got home. Check it out.

Okay, after seeing the price for this IGT Category on the cruise I caved and you can add me as a new guest on board. :sail: Will be traveling solo. Looks like I have a LOT of reading to do to catch up :). Not sure what my cabin is yet but I am early dining.
Blake
Welcome Aboard!

I am so excited:mickeyjum that I am no longer going "solo"... my sweet cousin Jana will be joining me. I will be so fun having her to travel with. :jumping2::jumping1::goofy::hmghost:
I have added her to the activities I signed up so. If you are a coordinator and I signed up for your activity, please add Jana if you can. I tried to pm everyone but may have missed something.

Welcome, Jana!

:welcome: Blake

THANK YOU!

Mic, I tried to hit any that I saw even if not on my list. I also befriended a couple in the terminal that had 2 little girls and started taking magnets, candy and FE gifts to them. I told the dad to put a bag out and I would bring them surprises.... I saw them later and they were so happy about it. I love helping bring a little magic to the kids on board....pixiedust:

I do that too, it's SO fun! We had a 'make a wish' child on one of our cruises - I talked with the family and we put out an alert to the Dis-ers - the response was great.

Thanks Lynne for the Sept 11 memorial photos.
I got my first airport security pat down a few months ago. Hoping for a second in Boston before the cruise!:rotfl:

I have been having a go at designing a door magnet this afternoon that i can use for one of the roaming door magnets we have been discussing. I wanted to show you my design and explain the background behind the figure!

We are both childminders (home daycare providers) and we have a big fluffy bear dressed as a pirate that the children named Trevor. He is a travelling bear that goes away on holiday with them and they take lots of photos and he and they have lots of fun together.
He had his first trip to WDW last year and he will be joining us on the wbta, but i thought i would use his photo on our roaming door magnet so that we could take it back to the children and put on our display board.

So there you have the history of Trevor the Traveller! :thumbsup2

Just not sure what to make it out of, paper/full magnet etc. as we have tested writing on a magnet and it just doesnt work. Any suggestions??

Trevor at Magic Kingdom

He's adorable! That's how I ended up with Dimples - I "borrowed" the traveling bear from my scrapbook store for a trip to Birmingham. When I got home, my arms felt empty - so DH gave me Dimples for Sweetest day in 2005. I've traveled with her ever since.

As for your question - why not do as the other person suggested with the cardstock and photo paper - but instead of pasting the magnet on the back, slide both the cardstock piece AND the magnet inside a page protector - it can slide out to be signed, and out again at the end for putting in the book. The magnetic sheet can then be reused.

I've never done a scrapbook before, but I've decided I want to make one for this trip. I've picked up some paper, borders, and embellishments, and I've got a couple of extra packages of the chipboard embellishments from Joann's that were posted a while back. I also bought some pretty Disney paper - it was on clearance, so I grabbed all the sheets they had!

I'm not signed up for the scrapbook exchange, but I'll trade the paper and extra embellishment packages for some advice and tips on how to make this thing. I don't want to crash the exchange, so maybe I can meet up with a couple of you in the Cove Cafe or Promenade Lounge at some point for a lesson.

LOVE to and I'm sure my two scrappy friends would, too. We not only love to scrap but TALK scrapping. Why NOT join the SB exchange, though? you can always purchase your contribution if you're afraid to make something.

Welcome all new cruisers!

Bit of a difficult day today, last night a 54kg weight fell on my foot and i ha a xray today and I have a hairline fracture. Didnt help that when I told my boss this morning I couldn't get into work as my foot was injured and even my trainer wouldnt go on his reaction was "not on, wear flipflops I cant get cover on such short notice"!!!! Surely not good management
WO - Quick healing dust to you right away - and a dose of new boss dust too! Stay OFF the foot.

Pat, I go here a lot to find inspiration for scrapbooking http://www.twopeasinabucket.com/gallery/projects/disney-theme/sortby-most-liked/ the link will take you specifically to Disney scrapbooking, but check around for more themes or just general scrapbooking if you like.

I don't know of anyone who isn't behind on scrapbooking .. just par for the course it seems  A little scrapbook get together sounds fun :goodvibes
Absolutely - and check out the DIS scrapbook board too, down in the creative community forum. There are literally DOZENS of Disney pages, swaps, books, etc for you to choose from. In fact, it was through that board that I met my two room mates!

Back from my scrappy weekend - it's taken me an hour to read just today's posts! You guys have been busy!

Anyone looking to visit botanical gardens in Madeira? I have a private taxi booked with three extra places for 3 - 4 hours.

Good night, all!

PS Tabitha, LOVE your scrapbook - especially the towel animal page. And may I ask - where did you find that map paper?

I plan on scrapbooking a bunch while we're at sea. I'm bringing some different idea books with me so if you want to get together just let me know. Once I see how big my room is we could even do it there while Lorelei takes a nap one day :goodvibes

Those pages are gorgeous! Thanks for sharing. I think I did see your husband at DHS on the 4th but he was being bombarded with people at the time because he was in charge of an entrance so we didn't bother him.

Thanks. I do love to scrapbook even if I don't get much time to actually work on it.

I don't think I will have time to do ANY scrapbooking on the cruise though. I thought I would have all this free time to do stuff on sea days on the last TA and I remember that when the cruise was over we all (our tablemates included) sat there looking at each other saying we didn't have time for..... :rotfl:I have a feeling the same will happen this time too. I won't even bother with bringing supplies except for the exchange. And I definitely won't bring more then one book. :rolleyes1

Don't forget a copy of your ESTA. You'll need it, when you embark and at the emigration. You save a lot of time, when you'll take it with you!

I never had a problem with the emigration in Florida. They want to see your Passport and your ESTA. .

What is an ESTA? This is our first open loop cruise and I want to make sure that we have everything in order.

TIA.....

Here are some of the items I had signed on our first cruise, I can't find the Dream one's at the moment as i'm on Lee's laptop:

Never thought of this Claire. I'll have to do it next trip when I have room in my luggage to bring my empty book on board:rolleyes1

Ureeka!!! I finally got one to load. Goodness gracious that took forever to figure out. These are in no particular order. I am just glad they loaded.

cute pages thanks for sharing! I love to scrap too but am way behind and never find the time for it anymore

Anyway, thanks a :flower3: :flower3: :flower3: :flower3: for sitting there :surfweb: and typing in the info.

Did you finally go to sleep?

You are more than welcome it was rather fun to look over the navigators again. I did finally get to sleep about 4 am right before the darn storm sirens went off. LOL! I rolled over and ignored them.

Also Mic... I got your msg but DIS won't let me respond because they say I'm not allowed to, but.... oddly they included your email in a link & told me that was fine to email you there....?? So, whatever, lol, I followed the link & answered, but don't know if it's someplace you will normally look...too weird! :rotfl:

Weird computers, I will check my email, been working on FE gifts all day for our AK cruise.

I just cannot imagine hauling scrapbooking stuff onboard with me!

I just go off the radar and I LIKE it that way!

Reminder: US Cruisers: Order Your Pub Crawl T-Shirt!

it's on my list, honest! Okay back to working on these FEE gifts!

I just cannot imagine hauling scrapbooking stuff onboard with me!

We pack super light so I just plan on bringing an idea book, of course adhesive, and then my paper trimmer. Then I'll just buy the kits on board for the paper and use my stuff from the scrapbook exchange too. I should definitely be able to fit that stuff in it's less than 5 lbs. A couple months ago people on here were talking about how they overpack... We just spent 6 days at WDW and I packed everything for James, Lorelei and myself in 1 suitcase. It came to 49 lbs but that's still under the 50!

wow!

Glad you had that break through! I've had to change my gifts a bit, or I'd never have even come close to getting them finished. As it is, I may still be working on them on the plane to Barca!

You might could find a little helper onboard! ;)

That's what I like! :thumbsup2 We did our last cruise, granted just DH and I, eight nights, two formal nights, all carryon.

I'm really nervous about what to pack and hoping if i get an inside cabin that it doesn't start to smell of old socks by day 10... I've never packed for 15+days with out laundry cleaning and I don't really want to pay. Is it doable and can i pack light?

That's just unnatural. Luckily for me, Dennis is just as incapable of packing light as I am, so at least I won't have to listen to him gripe about the amount of luggage we have!

You might could find a little helper onboard! ;)

Can she crochet? I might have to teach her! ;)

For those new to Palo Brunch....here are a few pics of the dessert table. :cloud9:

P1060337.jpg

There's my favourite.... the tiramisu

And if you all linger at dessert long enough :rolleyes1, we'll see you at the 3pm tea! :lmao:

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

We love Alfred and Seymour too, the best entertainers we have seen onboard. I hope they are on our TA!! Hilarious.:thumbsup2

They are one of our favourites too. Keep our fingers crossed :thumbsup2

Tall & Strong? Are you referring to Lee & Stevie? ;) :rolleyes1

Lee will also be at the dessert's several times....we could have a mini DIS meet right there at the buffet tables. :rotfl2:

Ok, spill the beans, who are Alfred & Seymour? :confused3

Oh definitely :rolleyes1 our strapping husbands :lmao:

Last time we were in Palo, Stevie skipped the main course (I had my usual Chicken Parmigian) so that he could save room for all the desserts he wanted, can you tell who has the sweet tooth in the family :lmao::lmao:

Probably best you google them or have a look on youtube. They are an african american comedy duo who use A LOT of audience participation. I don't want to say much in case they are onboard lol and give much away. They call themselves the BlackStreetBoyz.

If they are onboard you will love them, they beat any ventriloquists, hypnotists and magicians hands down :thumbsup2

Love the scrapbook pages Tabitha. :thumbsup2

That is very true Karen, i'm hoping to make a start on my Dream Maiden Voyage cruise pages today seeing as I have to wait in all day for a delivery.

I'm def up for a scrapbook meet. I think it would be a great idea!

AHHHH sweet memories. I cannot wait for this! Last time James had to practically roll me out. :rotfl:

Lol,I know that roll me out feeling to well. On our first cruise (a 4 nighter) Lee & I had Dinner in Palo's, then Brunch the next morning - Oh my goodness, we could barely walk. :rotfl2:

I will keep a list for the scrapbook Cove Cafe & add it my post on the first page with the scrapbook exchange info. :thumbsup2 That way when all the tastings etc are arranged I will contact everyone to sort out a day & time.

And if you all linger at dessert long enough :rolleyes1, we'll see you at the 3pm tea! :lmao:

:rotfl2: We will probably be having a nap to sleep off all that food under one of the tables. ;)

Never thought of this Claire. I'll have to do it next trip when I have room in my luggage to bring my empty book on board:rolleyes1

It adds a little something extra to your scrapbook. :goodvibes

:worship: Wow I could barely manage with one suitcase just for me! :lmao:

I am planning on doing my own laundry once or twice onboard, it's only a couple of $'s per machine load. No way could I pack enough stuff for 3 weeks in the rubbish baggage allowance we've got on the outbound flight.

Lee is the one with the sweet tooth in our family too.

I will have a google and see who they are. :thumbsup2 You definitely need to give me a daily run down of what not to miss.

Ok so far for the Scrapbook Cove Cafe meet I have:

Me
Mary (Tod&copper)
Pat (Pflamingo)
Lauren (Namsupak)
Linda & 2 roomies (Lindababe)

Did I miss anyone? Any one else care to join us on a sea day (to be decided) for a coffee & chat about all things scrapbooking? Let me know & i'll add you to the list. :thumbsup2
