We did something fairly similar on our PC cruise in 2008. Another fun thing to do.:thumbsup2 and something that doesn't require a LIST!!!:lmao:

Oh, lord, YES!!! A no-list-required activity!! But wait, doesn't that violate some DIS law? "All DIS cruise activities require the compilation of a list."

I don't see any reason why everyone who wanted one couldn't do it ... it would be kind of like signing everyones yearbook at the end of school. I am willing to sign more than one :goodvibes

Good idea! For the magnet challenged, you can make an extra-large magnet on Vistaprint. I think it's 8inx10in. If you have an account, they should be sending you emails for "freebies," and this one shows up fairly frequently. You'll have to pay for uploaded images, but those are often half price. You'll also have to pay for shipping, but the magnets are very good quality.

Grin, that sounds so familiar. My "granddad" (we adopted eachother and apart from biology he is my granddad and mothers father) was the same way as your dad. He lived on the other side of the street my parents lived, actually moved there to be closer. And with a distance of only 5 km, he was here all the time also. He actually literally was doing heavy duty construction work in my parents home (we remodeling to fit my powerchair) on his last "home day" as he'ld called it. That night he went into hospital to die 2 weeks later, turned out he had 3 types of non-connected cancers. He looked a lot like the gnoom Chris posted sizewise but just like your dad, nothing could stop him from saving the day and fixing anything and all and totally disrespecting their age in that. ;)

How next door are you guys? Should I be thinking in the way of the set up of many of the suburbs or more like the countryside set up in WA?
Jacqueline, they live literally next door to me, we bought the land when we moved from London and had our house built, they then decided to move to Perth, we told them that the plot next to us was for sale and they bought it. David was a bit strange about it at first, but now loves the fact he just has to hang over the fence to see what Mum is cooking.

We have been living next door to each other for about 20 years, normal ups and downs but on the whole a good move especially as now they are getting older and I can keep an eye on them. Recently Dad decided to pull up all the carpets in the bedrooms and study to replace them with wood flooring, I just made sure I was on hand to help with the removal on the carpets. No stopping them when they decide to do major jobs around the house, all you can do is be there to help.

Sad to hear about your Grandad but saying that, the time he had helping you around the house made for special moments in time for you to remember.

Okay, after seeing the price for this IGT Category on the cruise I caved and you can add me as a new guest on board. :sail: Will be traveling solo. Looks like I have a LOT of reading to do to catch up :). Not sure what my cabin is yet but I am early dining.
Blake

Welcome aboard Blake:wave:

Karen I think the wondering gnome/Mickey is a great idea :thumbsup2 What a lovely keepsake.

hi and welcome,

It might be especially fun for those with kids, kind of a "Flat Stanley" for the ship, maybe we could write where we are from so the kids could see all the different nationalities.

I'm not sure if Disney still does it, but on our 10 night cruise the kids were given a DCL passport and they could ask Cast Members to sign it along with where they come from. We saw some kids with them and we went to the kids club and asked if we could participate ... they thought it was a great idea, and told us if we filled the book there would be a prize. We bumped into "Ducky" around the ship and asked him to sign it, which he did, and then proceeded to to draw Donald. It was our best souvenir of the trip and we paid nothing for it ... who says Disney doesn't do free

What a lovely keepsake to have. :goodvibes

Ducky is a lovely man, we had the pleasure of meeting him on the Dream MV but the queue was about 50 miles long so we didn't get to stop and chat much but he signed our special Lithograph and we had a photo taken with him.

Hey everybody! We just got back last night at 1:30 AM from WDW. We had a blast watching the fireworks and Lorelei was so much fun to watch meeting the characters :goodvibes

I have so much catching up to do! Welcome to all the new cruisers  Hope everyone gets their upgrades. Good luck to you all. Roaming gnome sounds like so much fun... I love those type of keepsakes.

Welcome back Lauren, glad you had a lovely time.

That is just awesome... I love Ducky.. he is a very kind man.
He drew a picture for my daughter for me. It was so cool... She is an optometrist and had a chance one time to give Mickey an eye exam. It was so cute... Mickey bent over a little, covered his eye with one hand and was reading an eye chart she was holding. I took the picture to Ducky and asked if he could draw something like that for her. He did...:worship: it didn't have her in it but had the same Mickey holding his eye and the eye chart being held by a big Mickey type hand..... She so cherish's that drawing and has it hanging in her office... It was her birthday present as I can never find her anything special anymore..... I scored!:banana::banana:

Wow that is very special.

Hello,
I am going away for a couple of days. Were leaving to Paris for some Disney magic in Disneyland Paris till june 14th.
If I come back I have a lot of reading to do and are we then in part 5????

Why, oh why, do I still wake up at 4:30AM when I don't even have my bootcamp class?!? :headache: I guess I'm up early for today's volunteer work. Outside all day long in this love Texas heat at Six Flags. (Don't be jealous - you know you want to sweat all day with overpriced drinks to cool you down!) :rolleyes1

This is who we used last year and are using this year for the Madeira tours I am organizing. I recommend them very highly.

We had two vans with children under 2 for the tours and it worked out very well for them.

That is great to hear, Noel! I had emailed them in May, and finally bit the bullet because Curt just wanted to do the cable car / garden / toboggan. I wanted to at least see part of the island. What time will your tours be heading out? I noticed the DCL tour was leaving 10:15, arriving 5:59. My girls would have definitely been fussy during naptime.

Have a fantastic trip! :)

Are we agreed that we can have lots of roaming magnets, then? Everyone can have their own?

I like this idea even more than FEs; a whole lot lighter in the luggage weight.

I never thought of it that way Lynne :)

I am so excited:mickeyjum that I am no longer going "solo"... my sweet cousin Jana will be joining me. I will be so fun having her to travel with. :jumping2::jumping1::goofy::hmghost:
I have added her to the activities I signed up so. If you are a coordinator and I signed up for your activity, please add Jana if you can. I tried to pm everyone but may have missed something.

Okay, we are now only looking for something to do in Tortola. Are there any hotels that allow you to use there facilities for a fee? If not what beaches are they recommending, Did a search on some other websites cant really find something.

Our van only has room for one more, but if you contact him then he may be able to put you in another van (along with Disneynut?). But I will need to send you a copy of the email with attachment he sent me, so please PM me and I will respond that way.

Please give some info on your Gibraltar tour including cost.

Now I don't want anyone to get too worried but I think the ship is getting full....... Sorry can't pull off deadpan sarcasm in writing! Seriously, two months out and only one category (10c) is sold out. Everything else is open! This is going to be a great cruise!

Karen......my husband let out a big "YAH!" when I read him your note! Sounds like the beginnings of a good relationship with this cruise!!!!! :rotfl2:

Spanish Galleon at Madeira:

When I checked, the Shore Excursion from DCL occurs at the second sailing time of the day - 3pm (the DCL group meets at 2:15 to get ready). It did not show another time as being unavailable, either.

You could try and get on the 10:30am sailing. It looks like we might be the only ship in port (actually the only one between Sep 9 & 19)

Has anyone successfully booked with the Santa Maria for that morning sailing?

I have emailed them twice now and not received a response. It sounds like a fantastic excursion - but they're not replying.

Thanks
Matthew
