I haven't followed this closely, did she get off with an insanity plea? There is insanity somewhere in that courtroom![]()
Nope. Just plain old "not guilty."
At one point her lawyers asked that she be tested for competency to stand trial. Three psychologists/psychiatrists found her competent. Too bad she didn't try NGRI - those tend to backfire on defendants.
I could see them not convicting her of 1st degree, but I thought they'd at least find her guilty of manslaughter or on the child endangerment charge.
I know she stole her friend's checkbook and forged a bunch of checks, but I don't know if she was ever charged with it. Maybe they can get her on that.
