I was wondering if any of you that have previously done the WBTA or EBTA would be willing to share how much you spent onboard over the 14 days. Obviously this will vary based on how much you drink, like to shop, etc, but I am just trying to get a ballpark.

We will be calling DCL in advance to put an OBC onto our shipboard account - we'll get six months 0% interest for doing this using our Disney Visa - so I'd like to preferably prepay as much as possible so it qualifies for the no-interest deal. Not sure how much to tell them to put on the account so I was hoping to gather some data from others.

Thanks - Chris

Well considering we are not much for shopping or drinking our bill I am sure is a lot lower then most people. We just wandered the town on two of our stops as well. So maybe all told less then $500. I would say maybe to put $500 on there to start with and that should cover most to all of your excursions (depending on what you picked) and then it will just be shopping, drinking and/or spa.

Do you only get the 0% if you do this in advance? How far ahead do you need to call? I'm going to be going crazy trying to keep track of the 0% balances! I've got it for this cruise, and we have to pay off our October cruise at the end of the month. I also use my Disney Visa for all my monthly expenses and pay that balance off each month to avoid finance charges (I hate finance charges). That might be something we want to do, too. Anything to save a bit of $$! :thumbsup2

Silly Karen, you're NOT a pain! You're right - with the "multiples" it did only give you 39. I'll add you to Group CC. There are actually several spaces left in that group. I counted and got 49 total, too, so you should be good to go.

lol, had to go back and check to see if i had got the right group then! thought CC didnt have loads of gaps, but guess that if we both came to the right number then thats ok!

Seeing as how everyone is posting pictures of their furbabies I thought I would post mine

Is he seriously cute or what?? His name is Billabong and I found him on the internet. Sadly he is not really mine, as DH is allergic to every animal on the planet. So he just sits quietly in my picture file on the computer and I pull it up whenever I need to look at his cute little puppy face :goodvibes

I have read it here on the DIS: 0% Onboard Credit Prepayment

and Auntlynne has also confirmed she has done this in the past. I think you need to do it about a week before departure - short enough so your clock doesn't start too early but long enough before the system blocks you out of doing things.

It's funny you ask...had a larger bill on the ebta than I ever expected! By day 2, I was up to $750 :scared1:, so was more careful since we had 12 more days :rotfl2: & we ended up at about 1,200 by the end. Obviously we are all different, but we just sort of dabbled in a few things, brought tons of our own booze/wine, and didn't expect a big bill.

And I'm NOT a huge spender either, like many around me ;) jk), but dabbled in a few things (and usually just once!): 1 visit to the spa, only 1 DCL excursion, internet package, a few drinks & coffees, a couple tastings, 1 gift shop visit, 1 bingo, 1 trip to the duty free shop...it adds up quickly, so hope this helps some...

.

I think even with the little we spend it always comes as a surprise how much it actually comes to. The tips usually are our biggest part.

what on earth were you doing to rack up $750 in two days!?!?!?!

I think we were about $1200 and that included spa treatments, tips, duty free, drinks and some t-shirts and pressies from the shop. We didn't do any DCL excursions and took some booze onboard with us.

The spa treatments and tips themselves were probably close to $500

I know - it was a jolt!! But the excursion, internet, etc, go on the account in the beginning - glad I checked it because it was very um, sobering!! :scared1:

.

oh yeah, guess they do add that on straight away. thats not too bad then. i just thought you went on a shopping spree!

how much do the tips come to per person on this cruise anyway?

How much do you spend, that is really tough, and it depends on how much we can pay for in advance (excursions, packages). You have to consider that the tips alone run $300+ for two people for 14 days. (Not sure if DCL is $11 or $12 a day).

Drinks, we just purchased the 7 day wine package for $200 so that we can have wine at dinner and not worry about it, when its gone its gone! That we can pay in advance and will help us on our drinks, especially at meals. You can prepay the TIPs on some cruise lines as well. You may want to inquire about that.

We usually spend about $300-400 a week on drinks, especially with all those sea days. We will probably budget for about $1500, but hope to get under. (with Tips, one DCL excursion, and probably 1-2 spa visits). Our last two week cruise was on NCL and it was a bill of $2100, but that was with all the European excursions and 8% vat on all the drinks 18% vat on spa and store, and two spa trips. Plus NCL has many more specialty dining options so that can add up quick.

Hope this helps, but remember you are on vacation, so you should indulge if you can afford it. You have two more months to save!!

Amanda

:rotfl2: Love it! Though I'm lucky - my dual citizenship (Canadian) still makes me a subject of the realm! :thumbsup2

I will be taking US citizenship soon, and will also retain British citizenship .. even though I technically call myself Australian as that's where I grew up. I am such a hodgepodge of nationalities :upsidedow

Hi
Just popping in from Orlando to wish all of my American friends a wonderful
4th July ..... I have just got back from watching the breathtaking 4th July firework display at Magic Kingdom, we watched from the Poly beach and it was a magical experience .... brought a tear to my eye and I am not even American but it was just wonderful to see so many people showing such patriotism and pride in their nation. Last night we watched fireworks off shore at Cocoa Beach and that was also beautiful .... the reflection off the ocean was stunning. Hope everyone has had a wonderful 4th.

:wave2: Hi Sarah, sounds like you are having such a wonderful time. Yes, patriotism is alive and well in America.

Chris we won't be much help here as we spend nothing really. Well a Cove Cafe coffee most days and just the one cheap excursion(well for DCL anyway;))for two people. BUT, I had to go to the medical Centre on the second to last day and that cost $940.:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:Last year we had $200 more OBC too as they gave the Europeans $100 each for booking early. Going to miss that this year.

Ouch :scared1: I hope your insurance covered most of that

Karen I've always wondered how you pronounce Cerby :confused3 Hope you are feeling better, I had my tonsils out when I was three. I remember everyone promising me that I could eat all the icecream I wanted after the surgery .. what they didn't tell me was that I wouldn't feel like eating it

Ouch :scared1: I hope your insurance covered most of that

We decided not to claim as we had an annual policy with another long trip in January and didn't want to jeopardise the cover. Plus I might not have got cover for this year.:confused3 Sometimes you just have to grin and pay up. It was worth going to the Medical Centre though for a few reasons.

I'm back!! :teeth: We had the most amazing weekend in London celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary, Lee was thrilled with all the planning & surprises I had been plotting for months. ;)

I will upload some photo's this afternoon to share with you all. :thumbsup2

I hope everyone is well & had a great weekend, belated Happy 4th July to my US friends. I guess I best get myself a cuppa tea & go back & catch up with what i've missed over the past few days. :)

What a sweet wife you are to take the time to plan special events for your anniversary ... Lee is a lucky man :bride::lovestruc:groom:
